Reviews for Daresbury Park Hotel
Review 1:very slow wifi !!! can't skype !!! do not believe in photos on booking i got a room with NO WINDOWS, very small... totally diffrent from photos on booking... disaster never again
Review 2:food was acceptable they have nice entrance
Review 3:The bedside lamp did not work - the bulb looked fine so it appeared to be a more fundamental problem. As I checked in late there was no time to report this.
Review 4:For business this was good - I was able to check in very late.
Review 5:The hotel needs modernisation in parts. Decor is quite poor in some parts of the hotel. We were in 207 and there was a constant loud noise from the toilet of a room above it. Our room had two TVs. Clearly the one on the wall had stopped working but had been replaced with a TV half the size. I just think there are little attention to details which had been missed. The bar prices are also very expensive. If you are looking for a cheap overnight stay and don't mind driving this is ideal.
Review 6:Fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night apparently because guests smoking in the rooms. Staff not interested. Shower in room poor.
Review 7:Bar and restaurant okay
Review 8:The standard of cleanliness is very poor with no care or pride invested. Staff pleasant but have no driver or direction to improve the premises. Breakfast whilst plentiful( buffet) was poor quality and not worth the money.
Review 9:Location was the sole positive point
Review 10:Worst carvery meal we have ever had. Starters cold, veg looked and tasted like it had been reheated several times. Room was in dire need of a re-vamp. Shower flooded bathroom so was unable to use.
Review 11:Check in staff and bar staff were great. However restaurant staff were poor(to busy talking to each other)
Review 12:The fire alarm did go off one evening around about 10:00 pm, then again 10 min later and again about 5 min later. There was not much evidence of management of the event - I still do not know what happened or why or if it is likely to happen again.
Review 13:Booked through the internet - exceptionally good value for money
Review 14:The place clearly needs a lick of paint and your WiFi is poor to access (you need to tell your provider that you can't access wi-fi on Chrome so people need to use Explorer). Or you can buy quality Wifi from me , much cheaper !
Review 15:The price - for £34 I'd sleep in the car park
Review 16:No shower gel in dispenser, tv signal atrocious, most channels didn't work, watch out for dinner cost, you don't get a choice, it's £12 a head for a 1970's buffet
Review 17:Location and price for stay and breakfast very good
Review 18:Bed was not stable & fire alarm went off at around after 10pm. Had a bad migraine so I went to my friend place in Warrington for the night
Review 19:The price is reasonable & location
Review 20:Everything apart from the breakfast.needs a complete makeover especially handrails as I got a splinter using one and nearly fell downstairs with another as it was so loose. The list can go on.
Review 21:The breakfast was the only good part
Review 22:The room could have done with a bit of extra dusting. The sink has a crack in it and water was not draining very well in the sink and bath.
Review 23:Breakfast buffet is very good.
Review 24:Rooms not as described they were shoddy and very dated. Nothing like the pictures on the website! Double bed was 2 singles zipped together. Turned away from the restaurant as they were fully booked no where does it say you have to book. Staff extremely rude and unaccommodating, we had to drive a 40 mile round trip just to get something to eat. Fire alarm went off at 1.30am and had to trudge down to reception to be told was a false alarm yet no apologies from the staff. We raised a complaint on the night about our room and not being able to eat there and we were fobbed off not once but twice. All in all our new years eve stay was ruined would we recommend this hotel hell no!!!
Review 25:The breakfast was nice that's all
Review 26:My room was clean but smelly! A soiled baby's nappy had been left in the bathroom bin. The soap dispenser was almost empty as I was in the shower I couldn't really ring for room service.
Review 27:Close to motorway so convienent . Spacious and welcoming reception area . Easy parking. Breakfast fine.
Review 28:I paid £99 an I got a double room that was two single beds pushed together , a tele I cudnt even c from the bed, the bed side table was broken an the fridge was leaking ice . Not worth the money
Review 29:the breakfast
Review 30:Someone stole/broke my wheel cap off my car in carpark. Our room TV didn't work for 3 days we were there n we reported it but after a member of staff checked it no resolve was offered. Only due to Dubai hotel fire new yr TV celebrations then Munich attack so more for news updates.
Review 31:Friendly attentive staff made my experience and some of the guests especially a few of the leisure centre members. Janet from restaurant was amazing attentive offered alternatives and advice as I have a severe rib condition. All staff lovely at the spa especially a lady how worked reception of leisure centre on new yr day so massive thanks to team made me and my husbands experience memorable. Food was lush too
Review 32:apparently they don't read the comments added when using booking.com, so could not confirm if pool would be open on our arrival, then first was told we would be charged for the use of leisure facilities but once these were closed we were told that was not so, and now we also have to pay for internet. things have changed massively over the year.
Review 33:location off the motorway was great
Review 34:Did not get told check out Time when we arrived we where told breakfast was until 12 pm so that's when we assumed we would check out ! Fire alarm went of at 2am in the night nobody came to tell us what was happening or guided us out rooms where very old fashiond and the hallways smelt like the swimming pool
Review 35:Room was cold. Hotel was generally tired looking and cold. Food in bar was cold, expensive and not the best. No TV remote.
Review 36:Place is tired. I had an executive double which was cold, dirty and by no means an executive room. No remote for TV. Health suite is ok. Breakfast was ok but raw black pudding is not good. The chef claimed that was how it came from the supplier - then cook it the same as your raw bacon, eggs etc.
Review 37:When we arrived there was a dirty towel in the bathroom. I rang reception for a new towel but it never arrived. The room was too hot and no mechanism to control the heat. Presentation of the food at breakfast was poor. Communal areas and bedroom very dated compared to reception area. Poor signage to room.
Review 38:Receptionist was friendly
Review 39:Badly signposted - took a few wrong turns in the dark. Decor very tired in need of a makeover.
Review 40:Friendly, helpful staff. Good deal - value for money. Nice breakfast.
Review 41:Without Prejudice. - Executive room had no heating. I spent a very uncomfortable night in Room 162 - Power socket was at other end of the room to where the working table was so I could not charge laptop while working - Made to pay £7.00 for wi-fi to work from room. It is free in the public areas - Staff were unfriendly at check out. They refused to believe I had already paid the bill in full so I showed them the receipt. I was told to pay in full at check-in by a junior reception clerk who did not know how to work the check-in procedure in a timely manner. - Very poor selection of TV Channels - Room had a very run down appearance. - The shower door did not close properly, causing water to flow onto the floor of the bathroom. When I stepped out of the shower, I slipped and fell badly on the hard floor. I have a spinal injury caused by a bad lumbar puncture experience at the hands of the NHS. This fall has caused further pain. When I reported the fall, and reason for it, I was told that maintenance would be called. There was little or no interest in my condition. I will be writing to Hotel Management regarding this. No offer was made to allow me to report this formally
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Outdated and needs a makeover. Smelt damp. I couldn't believe they had a CRT TV and not even a flat screen. Trying to make up the budget cost with expensive food and drink ( which was quite good)
Review 44:It could be a great place with a makeover and if they went upmarket
Review 45:Very poor food in hotel.
Review 46:The third room I got move to was better than the first room (no working TV), second no bbc channels on TV & the heating didn't worked; so got move again.
Review 47:Shockingly bad bed. I thought I could sleep anywhere - but rock hard bed and noisy plumbing made sleep impossible.
Review 48:Very basic but functional. Great gym which serves a local business park. Basic food. Nothing glitzy but Ok for the price
Review 49:The hotel has changed since I last visited, wi-fi is now faster, but has to be paid for and parking control now in place in the car park. Bed wasn’t that comfortable.
Review 50:The breakfast was good
Review 51:Wine is pricey and pretty average. Could do with easier access to machines for soft drinks late at night. Bar meals are a bit over the top as well. Hit the carvery!.
Review 52:Great place for the price, friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room, good food in the restaurant, especially for the carvery which is excellent value.
Review 53:The breakfast was just about okay. I choose not to eat the foods that were self service as there were no utensils and people were using their hands to take bread etc. The tea bags were also lying in a bowl for people to help themselves too ....but nothing to take them with so people were using their hands.
Review 54:Hotel is a bit dated and basic but it was value for money. The bartender was friendly and chatty to everyone which created a nice atmosphere in the bar.
Review 55:Had to change rooms 3 times due to certain things not working or missing from the rooms.
Review 56:It was convenient for where I needed to be based. But unlikely to stay again.
Review 57:It was too hot when having breakfast several customers enquired about open doors or turning the temp down not resolved. Poor signage inside hotel to direct you to restaurant in certain places. Little meal selection on the evening.
Review 58:Enjoyed our brief stay
Review 59:Bathroom could have been cleaner. Orange juice was very bland and coffee was dreadful. Unable to use the facilities as I didn't have time due to limited opening hours
Review 60:breakfast was great. Some of the staff were lovely and helpful. Room was good size. Parking was great. Good to have a pool and spa
Review 61:Whilst in my room another guest opened the door with a key card he'd been given from reception, he was as surprised as me to see another guest! After that my key card wouldn't open the door to the room and I had to go down to reception to get it re-programmed. On checking out they had no record of my stay and it took 5 minutes searching to find my details so I could pay and leave. The bathroom door had a lot of water damage at the bottom of it. Missing bulbs in the bedside lamp. Missing cover for another light with exposed wiring. In need of updating the rooms.
Review 62:they had just upgraded the wifi from free to now very expensive - not a good move as more hotels are providing free wifi these days - would think twice about staying there again for this reason
Review 63:nice room
Review 64:The tired rooms, the cold food in the restaurant, the dirty crockery and cutlery, the loud music in the dining room at breakfast time, the unavailability of basic breakfast items such as fresh orange juice and cornflakes, the 'broken' items in many of the rooms, I moved rooms 3 times in total and never did any of the rooms have everything in working order. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 65:There really was nothing at all to like about this hotel. The only exception being the reception staff, who despite being inundated with constant complaints from the majority of guests, tried their best to remain calm and composed and attempted to help.
Review 66:Parts of the hotel a little dated, but the newer rooms are simple and quite nice. Breakfast ok, usually stick to the porridge.
Review 67:Great location, friendly staff, use of the pool and steam room.
Review 68:Staff didnt point out i needed registration card to eat in restaurant.its a long trek to my room to get it! Staff checked me in to another guest's room!
Review 69:The pool
Review 70:Had to leave
Review 71:Dave, Laura and John on reception...brilliant. Ate in the restaurant for the first time. Excellent value...starter main course carvery, deserts choice, cheese. and a free bottle of wine as a gift. all for £12. Unreal!
Review 72:First room I was given the door was wide open on arrival the heating was on full very hot there was a horrible smell of damp you could smell it before entering the room I went back to the front desk and was offered a different room this room smelt ok but the bath front panel and the door and doorframe should have been replaced about five years ago water damage again I also mentioned that the problem I had spotted with the first room was that the overflow on the bath had Brocken off and the pipe would be lower than it sould be and the smell could be coming from damp under the bath . I was then asked if I had used any of the facilities to which I answered no and he said good I will be able to let someone else have the room . Unbelievable
Review 73:Staff were helpfull
Review 74:This hotel is unique in not offering guests complimentary towels at the pool. You have to go back to your room to collect a towel, as only if you happen to have taken cash with you can you hire a towel. There is no mention of this anywhere other than in the spa reception
Review 75:Cleaning smell. Cleaning basket at the entrace of the room. Bar chairs in poor/dirty condition. The quality of the breakfast ingredients were below standard fair, bacon dry and mushrooms steeped in oil/fat/juices.
Review 76:Spa/Swimming facilities
Review 77:Very tired hotel in need of modernisation. Basic room, uncomfortable bed and pillows. Old furniture. Drab bathroom. Restaurant food was bland.
Review 78:Ample parking. Good location
Review 79:Very long walk to restaurant, there was only the carvery on each of the 3 nights we stayed, we were told we could eat in the bar so we did on the 1st night, we waited for an hour for our food to arrive, but it was okay. Menu choices not great and pricey. However breakfast was poor. We had to ask for towels for our room - will not be returning.
Review 80:Good location, some of the staff helpful, but not all.
Review 81:The room smelt of cigarettes, it was cold, I was woken up at 01.15 by guests leaving the hotel to get a coach after a night out. The 2 single beds put together to make a double were very hard and too short, our feet hung over the end of the bed. The breakfast was poor quality produce, with cheap jam, cheap sausages and stale croissants.
Review 82:Room was spacious and quiet
Review 83:Room was clean but was showing in need of a makeover , wallpaper ,pain work ect. Television remote not working , window latch broken
Review 84:Clean , staff very nice and helpful
Review 85:Room and bathroom extremely shabby, refurbishment required; reception on checkout very slow indeed (15 mins). Very long trek to my room carrying 3 bags, no automatic doors, poor signage indicating location of room.
Review 86:Situated close to the motorway and the business I was visiting. Quite good room service.
Review 87:Perhaps I had a room that hadn't been used for some time. Heating didn't work and there was rubbish behind it, obviously not checked (or ignored!) by maintenance who simply supplied a stand-alone fan heater. Cobwebs on the curtain pelmet and a dead crane-fly on the bathroom floor. Smarten up a bit and it would be real value for money.
Review 88:Location and Price
Review 89:1st room had broken wall panels and mould eaten wood under bath, not very clean. Heating was also broken. 2nd room smelt of bleach, was slightly cleaner 3rd room was much bigger but covered in dust, not hoovered, mould growing up through door sill as actual fungus, carpet and curtains were stained. Vent above shower was broken and water ruined. Stains on walls. Felt very unclean.
Review 90:The staff
Review 91:Restaurant. Good value for money but VERY slow and food just plonked in front of you with no conversation whatsoever. Not asked if I wanted another drink once. Couldn't work heating in my room which was cold. Reception didn't answer phone. I had to go back to reception for wifi codes
Review 92:Gym. Room quite nice and large Location is good
Review 93:Rooms dated decor, needed a lick of paint and refurbishment noises throughout the night every half an hour due to toilet or lifts . Room not cleaned daily only hand towels and 1 bath towel for 2 people
Review 94:Breakfast buffet was the best part
Review 95:Room 351 cracked sink faulty shower head in bathroom .plaster cracked and falling off by door and light switch stain on carpet side of wardrobe
Review 96:Good breakfast ,frendly staff
Review 97:Pool was cold. Steam room didn't work. Gym equipment outdated. TV was outdated. Bathroom needed a deep clean especially around lavatory. Wash basin blocked. Room in need of refurbishment. Being told they were too busy to issue teapots at breakfast.
Review 98:Location is very handy for the motorway.
Review 99:Some staff were a bit off hand , particularly when we asked for towels that had not been left in the room.
Review 100:Use of the gym and pool although steam room was out of action when we visited
Review 101:We have been to this hotel a few times before and it seems the cleanliness is detiriorating, some of the rooms needs to be refurbished asap. The room we were given was really bad had to ask to be moved. Their food was really limited in the restaurant.
Review 102:Staff was helpful at the front desk.
Review 103:hotel is very tired , needs an overhaul, mould in bathroom, rusty shower curtain pole, old dirty smell in corridors and restaurant, reception would never answer internal phone rang for ages, twice because no hot water, had to call premium tel number 13p per min and then hot water was fixed after i had a cold shower.marks on walls its not worth £85 per night , would not stay in again and has tarnished my view of britannia hotels
Review 104:Free wifi
Review 105:poor attitude by male on reception on arrival , bad day? hotel decor in rooms tired. also sat nav didn't like the post code but not sure if that was all the road works between Liverpool and the hotel.
Review 106:restaurant food and service good
Review 107:T V was far too small. Poor breakfast, Coffee was far too week and not hot. Buffet breakfast was not hot.
Review 108:Comfortable beds in a pleasant room. Liked having a bath and plenty of hot water. Free parking. Extremely good value for money.
Review 109:The noise and staff not helpful in the morning
Review 110:My room was on the ground floor and I got woke up at 3am with a good few woman screaming and singing outside my window which is where the taxi stop. And at 7am there was room doors getting banged for about 2 hrs and staff not very helpful when I complained about it
Review 111:Staff was unhelpful the lesure facility's closed at six along with the coffee bar the room only had one towel in there was no shower gel or toiletries if you wanted any drinks they was greatly over priced along with the food The hotel had a very good reputation a few years ago I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone again
Review 112:Hotel was close to motorway
Review 113:a long walk through cold external walkways and up 2 floors from reception to get to the restaurant for breakfast and the bar area for drinks
Review 114:Good size bedrooms, very quiet.
Review 115:The room (242) was badly in need of re-decoration and the bathroom was even worse. The sink was lacking a plug. The bar lacked character and is too small for the size of the hotel. My bar-meal was very average and barely warm. The staff were fine, however.
Review 116:The breakfast was fine and the restaurant was at least modern and well decorated. Staff were efficient and friendly.
Review 117:the gym closed soon after I got there at 20:30. No answer on phone for room service so had to walk down to reception and order. WiFi was really poor in the room.
Review 118:easy to find / park
Review 119:First room smelt awful, and bathroom tiles were mouldy! Second room had no toiletries or towels! Room service took over half hour to answer phone and then the food was poor!
Review 120:Soulless. Music in bar and restaurant too loud. Sprawling site, poorly signed. Not enough staff. A/C did not work. Terrible TV picture.
Review 121:Staff helpful. Easy access, good parking. Room was a good size. Good free WiFi.
Review 122:All the staff was very pleasant & helpful, a super breakfast with loads of choice & plenty of it all. Room was clean & tidy and bed was comfortable, it's a very nice & relaxing place to stay.
Review 123:When I arrived I was told that the hotel is full and I should not have been allowed to book a room. (How is that my fault) then I was told that the only room available has no working tv. I wasnt happy but had no choice so told them to put a tv in or give me a discount. they said they cudnt do either. Then after a staff checked it they said it did work. However, on checking in I realised that the tv didnt work and the volume was non existent. Also there were no bath towels in the room, which i put down to them not thinking that the room would be occupied due to having no tv. Even the lock on this room seemed a bit dodgy as the door when locked had a lot of movement in it. Overall unhappy as this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel lol
Review 124:The location
Review 125:not a bad experience but the room was dated and in quite bad shape bit of the heater were dropping off, the bath panel, architrave and door were rotten. Decor is a bit dated and in need of some TLC the photos on website must have been from when it first opened. maybe we got a bottom level room due to only paying £49...i have no idea. Judge yourself photos attached below. The £12 pp carvery wasn't worth the money the soup was awful we both didn't eat our starter it as it was like the "cabbage soup" diet soup...greeny grey colour...not vegetable soup ive ever had. The carvery was quite a bit better could have had a little more selection on the veg side tho. The desert was a waste the custard was soooo watered down it was literally just pale yellow water...we both joked it should have just been called "yellow" and not custard as custard it certainly wasn't....it was just steaming "yellow" and the fruit sponge pudding was flat dry with some dry like jam base.
Review 126:For the price of £49 for a double room i wasn't expecting much really but was surprised by the room as it was quite large and equipped with ironing board, iron, hairdryer, and the standard kettle.
Review 127:The rooms just look a bit tired I think it's time to bring it back to life nice location etc just it's appearance let's it down
Review 128:Handy location
Review 129:Room could have been cleaner. Didn't eat in the restaurant, but did have a bar meal. Range of food in the bar isn't great and it is over priced.
Review 130:Staff are friendly and welcoming. Hotel is well equipped abs the breakfast was good.
Review 131:On arrival we had been given a key that didn't work went back to reception twice. The curtains fell down when we shut them and the TV was old crackly with few channels. Ordered desert paid for it then told had ran out was told I would be refunded but noticed I had on leaving the reception said the night staff shouldn't of charged as was written on slip from bar to refund.
Review 132:The hotel was warm.
Review 133:No complaints
Review 134:The setting and facilities were excellent. The breakfast really good and the syaff were friendly and helpful. The best Britannia hotel I have stayed in by a mile
Review 135:Whole place is a bit run down and could do with a bit of a refurb and lick of paint. It would transform the place. Steam room could be hotter.. but Jacuzzi was scorching!
Review 136:Great to have the spa, gym etc for the price. Also, breakfast included in the £49 price. Really good value.
Review 137:Arrived,lovely first impressions. Purpose of the night was a surprise for my girlfriends 21st. Staff happy to decorate the room, had a reservation in the restaurant, had a lovely meal and drinks . Just overall just prefect
Review 138:Room was too warm and constant noise from the motorway. didn't get any sleep. Bed not particularly comfy either.
Review 139:The breakfast was the best part of the stay.
Review 140:The food was very average. The room had some trash under tables that hadn't been removed from previous occupants. The room had black mould on a ceiling tile, and smelled very musty (window was left open).
Review 141:The Staff were fantastic. Parking was easy. Great location. The parts of the building which haven't 'aged' since being released by Devere are very good.
Review 142:Upon checking in was told we would have to eat immediately as they had five coach loads of people, 200 in total, there wasn't restaurant facilities tonight as it is too many to cater for so they have a carvery on coach trip nights what a disaster, the soup container was nearly empty had to wait for it to be refilled, carvery was a carvery what more can you say, desert and cheese tables were decimated by the time we got round to them. Total lack of ambiance in the room, wasn't a restaurant in any shape or form, just a function room with mobile hot plates and cutting table for the chef to carve on and where the vegetables and potatoes were kept, very little choice of meat, beef or turkey, the room due to the hot tables was uncomfortably hot obviously no air conditioning or the carvery would get cold. Bedroom stuffy and dated, shower cap covering smoke alarm, so much for cleaners didn't stay for breakfast as the experience at dinner was more than enough
Review 143:The bed was comfortable
