Reviews for Castle Hotel

Review 1:Was quite noisy with traffic & Cud hear people outside loudly. So disrupted sleep.

Review 2:Lovely & clean. Very comfortable beds. Food very nice.my little dog Frankie was made 2 feel very welcome.

Review 3:Unable to stay in our room only one night, this was due to late booking and no fault on hotel

Review 4:The location of the hotel , and staff well customer oriented ana frendly.

Review 5:Poor parking, small room and bed. Restaurant not open and no other place to get a decent meal without booking. If you are not going to offer all your facilities, then you should let your customers know and alter your price accordingly. Very overpriced for what you got.

Review 6:Not for light sleepers! The beautiful Georgian sash windows look stunning but do let a lot of noise in

Review 7:Great location, friendly people, nice rooms and lovely breakfast

Review 8:Check in was difficult as keys for room couldn't be found initially. The next day we were approached by a member of staff who said that they thought we hadn't arrived, which we told him was probably due to the complications of our registration on arrival. Broken lampshade & asked for replacement bulb as bedside light not working and not replaced for the duration of our 3 day stay. No shelf in the bathroom. Broken vase on windowsill which served no purpose other than looking terrible. Bin not emptied in the bathroom after first night's stay. There were only 4 hangers the the wardrobe, with at least double being more appropriate. Thought the hotel quite pricey especially as the breakfast on the last morning did not have on offer all that we had had the previous 2 days eg no yoghurt, croissants or fruit salad. Although hairdryer supplied there were no sockets anywhere near the mirrors.

Review 9:Easy to find due to its good location. Very clean, comfortable bed although room was not very big. Nice power shower. Lovely bar with friendly staff and locals. Nicely cooked breakfast.

Review 10:We had a very enjoyable stay at the Castle. It was very comfortable, clean, colourful and friendly. I wish we had had time to have lunch there as the food and menu looked very appetising.

Review 11:The first room we had you could not open a window and was unbearably hot and stuffy. We were moved to a second room which was much cooler but with a frosted window.

Review 12:The barman could not have been more helpful when he moved us to the second room.

Review 13:No parking , no disabled facilities, 2 flights of stairs to rooms. No evening meals served , poor value for high price. No outdoor area. Beds very soft . Got our booking wrong and another couples while we were waiting. Sour milk in room, no biscuits ! Could only get 1 channel on TV to work

Review 14:Nothing really

Review 15:the room was lovely but needed a bit more tlc (the blinds were broken the wardrobe smelt the shower needed a thorough clean and it needed vacuuming, the kettle needed emptying

Review 16:Advertised as a hotel with a bar, but is actually a pub with rooms. Not something I would usually book. Good for what it is, but I would have been very disappointed if I had paid full price

Review 17:Great location. Clean room. Decent breakfast. Ok for a short stay.

Review 18:None

Review 19:Location - perfect for walking the coastal path . Lots of great eating places close by including the restaurant at The Castle. Staff - so friendly and helpful, they even went out of their way to put Marmite on the breakfast menu. Excellent hot showers good standard of rooms

Review 20:the stairs to all rooms were too steep, especially when u have a suitcase , but we should have been told this by someone, we certainly will not return. we were in the top (attic). also there was no parking facilities, I had to walk quite a distance until a disabled bay was available, that was not too clever. Also we were booked in Newquay cornwell to start with, that was ridiculous as I did say West Wales there is no excuse for that.

Review 21:I liked the staff and the food was very good ie breakfast, and we had two evening meals which were were good.

Review 22:Number of stairs up to rooms. would have loved a bath but shower only. 'Reception desk' in the bar - no staff present on our arrival. Had to also go into kitchen to find staff to order breakfast.

Review 23:Amenities in room, lovely comfortable beds and pillows. Pleasant dining room/restaurant.

Review 24:Room was on the main road so some traffic noise, but it's a small town so it's not too bad.

Review 25:Very clean, well presented. Great shower. Friendly staff, nice breakfast.

Review 26:Being above a pub it was unavoidably noisy. The room was very warm and so the window had to be open - so earplugs were essential!

Review 27:Friendly staff and good food. Both the restaurant and breakfast was excellent.

Review 28:Too noisy for us as it was on the Main Street. Beer was poor and evening menu was very limited. Seems that it has been good in recent years but is becoming tired.

Review 29:Liked Aberaeron. Breakfast was good

Review 30:Room was dated and expensive for what you got. Room was hot with no air con. Windows could not be opened. No sample shower gel or soap.

Review 31:Location excellent. Staff could have been more helpful.

Review 35:Didn't realise it was a public house. Quite rowdy on a saterday night. No private car park.

Review 44:This hotel has no off road parking and street parking is limited to 1 hour ( 8am - 6pm) if you can find a space!

Review 45:Rooms modern & well appointed

Review 46:Very noisy location

Review 47:very central location.

Review 48:Leaving !

Review 60:Great breakfast, comfy bed

Review 61:A little on the pricey side for B&B in a large pub.

Review 62:Breakfast was nice, pie of the week was plenty

Review 63:No parking facilities Room with no views

Review 64:Friendly staff very helpful Good Breakfast Clean and tidy

Review 65:Warmth of staff and trditional surroundings. Clean and nice food

Review 66:nothing not to like a very enjoyable stay

Review 67:Lovely Bijou Hotel, friendly staff, marvellous French Chef who prepared excellent cuisine and talked to us afterwards, good comfortable room and a superbe power shower.

Review 69:Room was clean Breakfast was lovely Facilities good

Review 70:Hotel is a little pricey.

Review 71:Room was very nice, king size bed was lovely. Breakfast was first class, staff were very friendly. The hotel is located on the main road but we suffered no traffic noise.

Review 72:Noise from adjoining rooms where guests were getting up very early. Room too hot but too much traffic noise for me to open the window.

Review 73:Great breakfast. Comfy bed. Central location near harbour. Unrestricted parking on Market Street between 6pm and 9am.

Review 74:Hotel situated on main road very noisy, only one staircase up to third floor no fire escape with the kitchen situated on second floor coul be dangerous .

Review 75:Nothing!

Review 76:Welcoming pub/restaurant, with a small no of pleasant rooms, friendly and polite staff, very nice little town of Aberaeron by the sea, with a lovely harbour, nice little shops, lively atmosphere

Review 77:I only had a skylight window and a privacy glass window so I couldnt look out. There were no toiletries in the bathroom.

Review 78:The rooms were clean and looked well maintained.

Review 79:nothing

Review 80:Great little hotel, good bar with live piano, nice restaurant upstairs and comfortable bedroom. Nice location in the town. All staff very friendly

Review 81:No proper reception, loud noisy pub atmos when we arrived, but the welcome and room made up for it, and we couldnt hear anything in our room.

Review 82:Very nice clean modern rooms, good bathroom facilities, good bed, towels could be updated though.

Review 83:Good & very friendly staff, very good evening meals very good Welsh cooked breakfast breakfast served early at 7am to suit our duties as ploughmen and Judge at the 5 Nations ploughing contest at Llanon

Review 84:The visit was spoilt by a sleepless two nights caused by the speed and noise of the lorry traffic through the town throughout both nights.

Review 85:The hotel has been recently refurbished and the decoration and furnishings are quite nice. However the shower needs some attention.

Review 86:Steep stairs, was not mentioned in advert Windows seemed to be stuck open, which was excellent from the point of some ventilation as it was excessivly hot on eth night fo our stay and had no air conditioning or even a fan, but as the hotel location was on the main road (A487) through the town was noisy from road traffic and people passing until early morning

Review 87:Food - the evening meal and breakfast were excellent Bathroom - very clean with good shower Bedroom - Clean

Review 88:It was really clean and comfortable. The staff were so helpful and were able to accomodate our 2small children. The breakfast was amazing and the young lady who served it was very friendly and efficient.

Review 89:The room was very tired and dingy the carpet on the stairs was odd and very dirty. On the 2nd night of our stay there was a private party downstairs that went on until 1am the noise was horrendous. The book in at reception was very poor and unprofessional we were left to struggle up the stairs with our luggage and basically ignored. Not an experience to be repeated!!!!!!!!!

Review 90:Friendly reception on arrival Cheerful, helpful staff/management Bar patrons, possibly noisy, but very friendly Food , breakfast and dinner high standard A thoroughly enjoyable stay

Review 91:Bar open until 1.00am and very noisy as a lot of the people in pubspilled into the street I.E. for smoking which made it very noisy whentrying to sleep.

Review 92:Rooms were clean, tidy and modern.

Review 93:We found booking in without a reception area annoying, we were booked in at a corner of the public bar. The rooms were very small but clean and the bathroom also quite small, but a fantastic power shower, to my husbands delight. Parking was a nightmare, we drove around for a good hour before we were able to park opposite the hotel, on the road, no parking facilities what so ever, In fact I would not call this a hotel but a pub with bed rooms, I have stayed in lots of Hotels all over the country and abroad and this is definately a Pub with bedrooms, and I would expect the price of the rooms to reflect that.

Review 94:The staff were friendly and polite, breakfast was very well presented and cooked to perfection, the waitress/cook was very pleasant, dining area was clean and pleasantly decorated.

Review 95:The booking in area was in the bar and, because of the rugby, it was nearly impossible for me to get in to book in.

Review 98:Excellent stay in this well run friendly hotel. It offered all werequired for this last minute break.
