Reviews for Tower Hotel

Review 1:Noise from school next door. Traffic/noise from a busy road . Not enough snack choices at bar e.g filled sandwiches, bagettes, rolls. Open bar area left little room in lounge for guests.

Review 2:Near to town and cathederal. Parking permit provided. Comfortable room.

Review 3:Lots of sudden door banging, loud chatting and other noise between 12:30 and 1:00 am (not before, not after) - I guess, the bar downstairs was closing and .the clientele breaking up. All the other time it was quiet (I had a room on the 2nd floor, facing the street).

Review 4:The location is very convinient for the cathedral and the castle. Note that if you walk there from the station you'll have to hike uphill, and it's steep. The alternative is bus 7,8 or 17, or a taxi. The room has tea things. WiFi is free and adequate. Heating ok. There is a very nice option of early breakfast: I was served a full English breakast two hours before the official breakfast time.

Review 5:The shower screen wasnt very water tight. It leaked all over the floor and the water pressure soaked the floor

Review 6:Location was superb Breakfast was good Staff friendly

Review 7:Bar menu not available friday and Saturday evenings only A La Carte which is very expensive.

Review 8:Great location near all the things you need to be, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 9:We stayed here for just the one night but really wished that we were staying here longer. The room was comfortable and the staff really friendly. However, the highlight was the restaurant .. dinner was delicious and it was great to have proper sausages and bacon for breakfast

Review 10:The hotel is really a bar with rooms. The bar was full of men watching rugby and football. Very noisy. No separate bar/ lounge for residents. Breakfast was very basic. Cooked to order but not up to standard.

Review 11:Location

Review 12:Really good location for visiting central Lincoln. Comfortable room which also allowed us to bring pets. Friendly and helpful staff. We ended up eating at the hotel most evening as the the food was excellent and the atmosphere great. Also good value for money.

Review 13:The staff were for the most part extremely helpful, although thewaitstaff at breakfast could have been more attentive (time to order-taking; refills on coffee). We were asked what newspaper we would like when we checked in, but we only got a paper one of the three mornings, and then, when we checked out, we found out - for the first time - that we were supposed to PAY for them. To be fair, the clerk immediately removed ALL those charges from our bill.

Review 14:The location couldn't have been better. Our plans for being inLincoln were pretty much focused on Lincoln Cathedral and it is but ashort and pleasant walk from the Tower Hotel.

Review 15:The restaurant tables are very very close together, we are not keen on intruding on other people - the proximity of the tables ensures you have no choice but to.

Review 16:Very friendly staff who appeared to enjoy their work, smiley and pleasant a credit to the hotel. Excellent breakfast, hot, plentiful and tasty.

Review 17:Rather too hot for our liking

Review 18:Helpful staff. They changed a light bulb on Saturday night during a busy time for them with a wedding reception and took the trouble to tell us in advance that there would be a party at the hotel that night. Also organised an early breakfast with no problem

Review 19:A couple of the fixtures and fittings were a bit shoddy, and the tea/milk in the room was undrinkable.

Review 20:Excellent location near the olde part Lincoln. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Room was very clean and comfortable with nice decor.

Review 21:Thought the room I stayed in, was in need of a bit more modernisation very basic. A lack of complimenty items to make room a bit more hospitable!

Review 22:Nothing really, very basic.

Review 23:No problems at this hotel

Review 24:Great location, friendly staff, value for money. Very good choice of food in the restaurant, no need to go elsewhere to eat. Best hotel we stayed at all week.

Review 25:In the bathroom, the water leaked onto the floor under the shower screen. When I went downstairs with a query in reception I was ignored by quite a few staff, eventually one said they would get someone to speak to me but that never happened so in the end I gave up and left it until we had been out for a meal and managed to speak to someone on our return.

Review 26:The bedroom was fantastic, lovely size and the decoration was very nice. There is also a lovely bar and surprisingly spacious restaurant downstairs, and the location is excellent.

Review 27:The shower was a bit tricky - difficult to get the right temperature. The bathroom was lovely and clean though with ample supplies of shower gel etc

Review 28:The staff were really lovely and helpful. I had my luggage carried up to my room for me, help with parking, extra teas and coffees were brought to us on a tray - every request was met with swift service and a smile.

Review 29:Being a warm and pleasant evening on both nights there was some late noise from revellers outside our window.

Review 30:The food was excellent, particularly dinner on the Saturday, very well presented and superbly cooked

Review 31:Inould have no hesitation going there again close proximity to where I wanted to be. All the staff were very friendly and willing to help with any request I made, W

Review 32:Mattress very lumpy and uncomfortable! Fake book decor in entry hall a bit off putting.

Review 33:Excellent location for walking into city. Free parking permit for residents parking spaces on public road outside hotel.

Review 34:Nothing at all !

Review 35:The staff whey amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Booked four rooms and asked if we could have one early to change for my granddaughters graduation, when we arrived at 11.30 they had them all ready for us!

Review 36:After a nice dinner at the lake (downtown), I so much hated to walk uphill to the hotel, otherwise it was a good exercise for me :-)

Review 37:Breakfast was good! It's not a buffet but seems the standard "included breakfast" is much more than sufficient and delicious. Just look at the menu and order... rooms are refurbished from inside and bathrooms are very specious. It's also quiet inside...

Review 38:The staff were fabulous: nothing was too much for them. Excellent value for money too. The room was clean, with spotless bathroom with a great shower too. Will definitely be staying there again.

Review 39:Great location for sightseeing. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was delicious with the option to have in bed! Liked the cocktail bar and outside seating area.

Review 40:The parking was a problem, we had to drive, then walk quite a way and pay £7.20 for 1 night.

Review 41:Friendly busy city hotel, vibrant atmosphere and very helpful staff.

Review 42:I personally found the bed a bit small. We are used to a king size bed, but unless I am much mistaken, this was a standard double. Also, the design of the bathroom means that you cannot swing the shower glass open, making bath access difficult. Also, because the bath is set into the side wall, there was no side lip which made the bath difficult to get out of. A handle in the wall would be a good idea. Finally, the breakfast was adequate, if a little average. All that said, we did enjoy our stay.

Review 43:We liked the location, the outside seating areas and our room was fairly large (however we did book the family room!) Nice staff.

Review 44:There was nothing we did like.

Review 45:Excellent break and stay at the Tower. Great bar area and atmosphere, very good restaurant, comfortable spotless room. If we had complaints we would have told the friendly staff, we did not. I am not a believer in moaning anonymously after. Everything was above expectation.

Review 46:The evening menus weren't attractive to us and there was no black pudding at breakfast.

Review 47:Very convenient situation for Cathedral and Castle and pleasant outlook over the Castle and the Water Tower. We had a Superior Double Room which was very spacious and had a comfortable seating area.

Review 48:The noise of pipes/water running and the metal key rings banging against the doors when others locked their rooms was a bit irritating but not a big deal.

Review 49:Great location close to Cathedral quarter with interesting shops and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The black out blind and fan in the room were very useful.

Review 50:It seems to be a very popular hangout for young adults and consequently can be a little noisy.

Review 51:Very convenient location for our needs as we were there to attend a family wedding at a nearby site. Also convenient to the two major attractions - the castle and the cathedral.

Review 52:Lovely hotel & staff - in excellent location for visiting Lincoln. Would have loved to dine in the restaurant which looked super but hadn't pre-booked.

Review 53:I had no problems during my stay.

Review 54:The hotel had a friendly, informal feel, with helpful and efficient staff.Position is excellent, near to all the historic sites and quirky independent shops. I ate in the restaurant, which was lovely, and there is also a wine bar.

Review 55:Nothing at all to dislike

Review 56:Six of my family stayed a Friday and Saturday night as it was my daughter's wedding in Lincoln on the Saturday. The hotel is excellently located; the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Would certainly return and recommend

Review 57:No bad experience. It was all good.

Review 58:Check in and out were very easy. The front desk staff was very interested to here about any suggestions for improvement. Refreshingly open and sincere.

Review 59:The hotel was situated uphill close to the cathedral, castle and shops, with lots of pubs and restaurants close by but a bus service is available to get on and off all day anywhere around the city. Good choice of breakfast and served at a reasonable time slot. Staff were pleasant and helpful. A lovely clean comfortable hotel.

Review 60:I prefer to help myself at breakfast. Not much on the buffet. Shower was dangerous..freezing cold to scolding hot -maybe a warning about this as I do realise it's an old building.

Review 61:Friendly staff and clean and tidy room.

Review 62:Room was a bit small. We had a room at the back and the noise from the restaurant was very loud. I think £95 was a little steep for that room.

Review 63:Clean comfortable bed and breakfast was very nice.

Review 64:A LITTLE NOISE FROM COURT YARD BUT NOT UNEXPECTED BEING OPEN TO NON RESIDENTS AND NOT REALLY A BOTHER.

Review 65:FRIENDLY HELPFUL STAFF. EXCELENT BREAKFAST.CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE

Review 66:The only slight problem was noise from drinkers/smokers from the yard beneath the room, but this quietens down at midnight as the bar closes.

Review 67:I arrived to check-in at 11:00pm and was greeted by the friendly staff. Enquiring about breakfast it became immediately clear that I'd be up and checked-out before the 1st plate was put on the table. The receptionist arranged for a pack of sausage sandwiches to be ready and waiting for me as I returned the key in the morning :-) I was only in the room for a few hours, but the bed was lovely and comfortable, and the room was spotless.

Review 68:No on site parking .but have passes for residents on street

Review 69:Very friendly hotel in a great location.busy bar at night but not noisey.full English breakfast to start your

Review 70:The windows needs a keep for when they're open, the shower was a bit rubbish, it leaked and it's at a fixed height, fine if you're 6ft 6in. Every morning the Hoover was left on the stairs which seemed a bit dangerous when people are going up and down to breakfast, or carrying cases. I was asked if I wanted my room cleaned because I hadn't gone out by 10.15 - I was on holiday I want to relax, I race around the rest of the year!!

Review 71:Great location and the food is very good, except poached eggs on toast - cooked in water so you get tasteless eggs on wet toast. Staff could smile a little more, they all look as though they wish they were somewhere else with the exception of Amii who is very friendly, pleasant and professional. There was a fan in the room which was great as the windows are high and don't have any keeps.

Review 72:No overhead light switch so you had to get out of bed to switch off the light when you had been reading in bed.

Review 73:Comfortable room, courteous and helpful staff. Good food.

Review 74:The hotel bar was far too popular (rammed) with non-residents on a Friday night so no chance of a relaxed drink.

Review 75:Friendly staff. Freshly cooked breakfast. Window sofa in superior room.

Review 76:We booked a superior room, which was lovely apart from it was directly above the beer garden. We were awoken a number of times from people talking and shouting. Also a boiler kept waking us up and the sound of the toilet from the room upstairs. Wpuld not book this room again, we felt it was overpriced.

Review 77:The location was ideal for exploring Lincoln. Only a short walk to the castle and cathedral. Close to loads of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars

Review 78:I didn't get a wifi code on check in so I didn't use it. I could've asked but it would have been good to include it in a welcome pack.

Review 79:The staff were very friendly and made my stay very pleasurable. They dealt with any requests that I had and went out of their way to help.

Review 80:Nothing worth mentioning, other than maybe have parking permits for street parking

Review 81:Very clean hotel busy bar very friendly staff. 5 minute walk to cathedral and castle. Great base to explore the old upper part of the city.

Review 82:One of our rooms was over the outdoor patio and got quite loud at night.

Review 83:The hotel was in such an ideal spot for walking with my 87 year old mother. We came to Lincoln to visit family and attend the Medieval Festival held at the castle. This hotel was so very convenient for our needs. The twin room was decorated very elegantly and the beds comfy.

Review 84:Nothing to add here.

Review 85:We had a fabulous room and the whole check in and check out experience was very quick and friendly. The bar is very popular and busy but that is a bonus. The facilities are great and the added bonus of Sky TV makes it possible for a man to watch the rugby whilst his wife takes an age to get ready.

Review 86:Room keys not in a very secure location. More variation on breakfast. Took me iutil the last day to get someone to fix the T.V

Review 87:Location, cleanliness, comfort, bed / room / en-suite size, quietness despite being over a bar (stayed 2 floors up ). Breakfast good, especially the bacon / sausage butty.

Review 88:Bar very crowded with outside customers so couldn't get a seat, so we went elsewhere as we had our 80 year old father with us.

Review 89:Staff very friendly, lovely room and brilliant location to Cathedral and Castle.

Review 90:My down point was I personally had trouble locating the hotel, but I blame google maps!!! I also found the fact that parking was for local shoppers also so had a small wait for a space. However I liked the fact that the hotel refunded 50% of what you paid for parking

Review 91:The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much for them. Breakfast was cooked freshly.

Review 92:The hotel was in a great location for our visit to Lincoln. Car park opposite the front door (half of the charge reimbursed by hotel). Hotel very nice, although our room was to the front and over the bar area which was very noisy on a night, although to be fair did quieten down around 11 ish. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Review 93:We had room one the bed was very hard and uncomfortable you could feel the springs needs attention the shower head in the bathroom is loose and flys everywhere when you turn the water on

Review 94:Plenty off staff always willing to help couldn't have asked for anything better

Review 95:The breakfast was a little limited in choice. The bed was comfortable but the room was very basically fitted out for the price.

Review 96:The evening mean was excellent.

Review 97:This is a small friendly hotel that seems popular with locals. The room was small but well equipped, clean and comfortable. The location enables you to walk to all the important places in the city and there is a good arrangement with the hotel for affordable city centre parking.

Review 98:Nothing negative about this hotel

Review 99:Room clean and comfortable Friendly reception Good breakfast Bar looked quite pleasant though I didn't actually use it myself View out window of old buildings and castle wall

Review 100:Nothing

Review 101:We enjoyed a very pleasant stay in the Tower Hotel. The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are good, the a la carte menu is imaginative and delicious, the more traditional bar menu is good value for money. The situation is very convenient for the Cathedral quarter and the steep hill bus and the Lincoln Tour buses stop a few yards away.

Review 102:Would have expected private parking for the room rate. Parking is at the pay and display across the road, we arrived on saturday afternoon and had the mission of driving round several times around the area whilst waiting for a space to come free.

Review 103:Cooked breakfast was lovely

Review 104:It was a lumpy uncomfortable bed did not have good nights sleep. Avoid room 1

Review 105:Nice big room, breakfast was great and friendly helpful staff. Very near castle.

Review 106:No bad experiences!!

Review 107:Lovely, friendly staff who were very accommodating. The Tower Hotel was perfect for the purpose of our visit and I would definitely recommend it to a friend! Just quite hard to find!!

Review 108:Dreadful croissant at breakfast. Good service put it right. Time slot for breakfast a bit tight as ends at 9am. With a great 11am checkout it would of been nice to rest a bit longer before getting dressed to get breakfast.

Review 109:Nice relaxed bar. Good standard of room and great location.

Review 110:Nothing j disliked about hotel xxx

Review 111:I'd like to come back n enjoy our stay it was a suprise for my husband n I ended up been poorly so had no breakfast sun morn as I just wanted to get home n now in hospital xxxc

Review 112:Electrics in the room were very dodgy, loose wiring and too many wires poking out from the loose ducting. Car parking a real hassle

Review 113:Close to amenities, staff friendly and helpful

Review 114:The only grouch I have - no biscuits with the complimentary tea/coffee tray in the room!

Review 115:The staff were friendly & helpful, the room was clean fresh & comfortable and the breakfast was delicious & served promptly.

Review 116:My partner found the bed hard and did not sleep too well the first night.

Review 117:Hotel was close to cathedral and Castle. Room clean and staff friendly and helpful.

Review 118:I don't have a bad word to say about the Tower.

Review 119:Great food and drink in a lovely setting. The hotel was really busy with Christmas parties but staff were friendly and attentive. The room was very comfortable and we had a great stay.

Review 120:The staff who were very friendly and cheerful, and helpful. Great to be able to have a drink and eat excellent food without traipsing round. We are planning to return in the near future. We stayed for the Christmas markets and even tho' the hotel was busy, the staff were still really cheerful! Nothing appeared to be a problem to them - very refreshing!

Review 121:The location good spacious room clean and tidy staff efficient made to feel welcome . Breakfast good choice even for vegetarian .Been twice this year will go defanatly go back again . Thank you to all the staff.

Review 122:Walking upto the hotel, it's quite daunting and was quite worried, on entering the hotel via the bar some of the worry went away, after checking in and going up to the room, my worries returned, it was awful! For a superior room it only had a standard double bed, stains on the furniture, very dated furniture and quite a lot of Noise from the bar area. Cleanliness was poor, quite a few cob webs

Review 123:It is quite clear on arrival the money as been spent in the bistro

Review 124:Our room was just above the pub outside area and our stay was a Friday & Saturday night,so we did not get much sleep until after midnight

Review 125:Everything about the hotel was lovely, great location, great everything.

Review 126:Shower over bath in the Superior Room needs to be updated. Bathroom would benefit from an extractor. Could feel some lumps and bumps in the mattress!

Review 127:Great location that was very close to the castle, cathedral, pubs and restaurants, but was also quiet. Superior Room was well-presented and comfortable.

Review 128:There is not the slightest negative to report

Review 129:The helpfulness and welcome from the staff was as good as we could have hoped for. Really quite exceptional. Overall this hotel offers exceptional value for money.

Review 130:Busy bar downstairs open to public, very noisy till lock up at midnight. Room very warm (even with windows open-which increased the noise!) Given price of room, a biscuit or two with tea/coffee facilities would have been appreciated! Breakfast moderate.

Review 131:Very good location, friendly helpful staff.Room clean and tidy.

Review 132:Door to landing kept banging as it closed which was annoying when asleep. Shower went cold during use then really hot which we reported. Breakfast was early as 9 was the latest.

Review 133:Nice room and breakfast and staff very helpful. Lovely bar with nice decor very clean with comfortable seating. Restaurant clean with good menu choice and price. Car park just over the road. Close to the old town.

Review 134:It's not closer to our home so we could make it our regular.

Review 135:We could not fault the staff, so friendly, helpful and efficient. Restaurant excellent for a 3*. Didn't need to dine out. Bar was great. Even when lively (and great fun) at weekend we always found a seat and drink prices were not inflated hotel prices. Location, close to restaurant/bar area but far enough away from night noise and right next to all the main places of interest.

Review 136:Full English was a little greasy but there were plenty of other options.

Review 137:Lively bar and restaurant (birthday celebrations etc). Great choice of hand pump ale (Citra).

Review 138:Just a suggestion to mention the wifi password on checkin so guests don't have to call down for it.

Review 139:Very good hotel for price point. Clear about parking fees and convenient opposite hotel. Nice décor in room. Breakfast was very good and ample.
