Reviews for Macliam Lodge Guesthouse

Review 1:The proprietress couldn't have been more welcoming; she made me feel instantly at home. The rooms were clean and it was situated close enough to town to walk in and out, but far enough away for a peaceful night's sleep!

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:Maeve is a very lovely host, she made us feel extremely welcome. We stayed 2 nights in a separate room from the main building which was spacious and comfortable. Excellent choice for breakfast and the full Irish to die for as it included the incredible Clonakilty black pudding.

Review 4:Room was dated (not like the ones shown on website ...possibly yet to be modernised?) & accessed round the back of the hotel. Bathroom had window with no curtain or blind so it lacked privacy as room was ground floor with people passing by. Breakfast was ok ...very little choice (not what we expected per other reviews) & nothing on offer for vegetarians other than egg & beans.

Review 5:Location vety good ...easily walkable into town centre. Plus on site parking included.

Review 6:Wonderful hosts with a superb breakfast - the food is locally sourced and there is an excellent choice between the full Irish (you will be after eating it) and a healthier option of homemade bread, fruit and muesli. Location is also very good, being out enough from the town center that you get a peaceful night's sleep, but only a 10 minute walk from the heart of Clonakilty.

Review 7:Stayed here twice before & enjoyed it. This time was disappointed with the room, clothes were left in press & drawers, one sachet of shower gel provided for 3 people. Intermittent Wifi.

Review 8:Previously stayed here & enjoyed it. Location & food were excellent

Review 9:Very central, rooms were clean and comfortable. Maeve, the owner, was very accommodating to our needs and the breakfast was lovely. We will stay here again!

Review 10:Macliam Lodge is just a short walk from Clonakilty town. We had a lovely triple room. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable but the real bonus was the fluffy, towelling bathrobes! Great choice for breakfast - stewed rhubarb and creme fraiche - yum! Very friendly hostess. What more could you ask for?

Review 11:We were not welcomed. neither were our after us.friends who arrived. The hostess was , stressed due to the number of guests., flustered............ We wouldn't go there again

Review 12:The breakfast selection is poor compared to other B&Bs I have used.I usually get a menu - options would include scrambled egg, fresh scones, pancakes, fresh food salad. There was nothing wrong with the Irish breakfast ,but I would have expected more.

Review 13:The comfort, cleanliness and the facilities of this house are 10/10

Review 14:Nothing to dislike.

Review 15:The location of MacLiam Lodge is perfect - just at the edge of town.with plenty of onsite parking. The owner, Maeve, is very friendly and efficient and seems to be always available to sort out any problems and give advice on things to do and places to visit. There is plenty of literature on local sights and activities in the lounge as well. Breakfast was excellent - perfectly cooked for each guest and served by cheerful and friendly young staff. Great selection of cereal, fruit, yogurt and juice as well as full Irish and variations of same. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom spotless.

Review 16:The friendliness of the owner-she is interested in all her guests and very helpful with places to eat and things to do . The room was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities provided. Five minutes walk from town centre.

Review 17:Our bedroom was at the front of the house so we had to keep the curtains closed while we were dressing, for privacy. Maybe blinds on the bedroom window would have allowed us some extra daylight....

Review 18:Very close to Fernhill House where we were attending a wedding. The owner kindly offered to drive us back to Fernhill the next morning to collect our car & also suggested we attend the Farmer's Market in Clonakilty afterwards.

Review 19:Our host, Maeve was very friendly and accommodating. The room was well stocked with towels, toiletries, tea kettle, coffee, tea. it was clean and nicely decorated. The dining room was also very nicely arranged and decorated.

Review 20:Having to leave!

Review 21:We loved Maeve! We were late arriving down from Dublin so we didn't meet Maeve until breakfast but in the hour that we spent with her, we felt that we'd known her forever! She was such good company, very entertaining, had us in stitches & she made a mean full Irish breakfast!

Review 22:The owner greeted us immediately on arrival, very chatty and lots of offers of help/suggestions. Helpful with local knowledge suggesting places to eat/visit.

Review 23:We visited in October and there was no heating in the bedroom and ensuing in the evening. We were supplied with a hot water bottle which we definitely needed.

Review 24:The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Review 25:I stayed at Macliam Lodge with my parents for a night. The house is lovely. We had an excellent family room, quiet and spacious. The location couldn't be any handier for Clonakilty, is just a pleasant walk away from the town. Maeve made us feel at home, and fed us heartily in the morning!! It was my first visit to west Cork but will definitely come back and stay here again!!

Review 26:I' d love a room downstairs with a big tv. I know the room that is there is for reading purposes but you don't get to talk to other guests if they are reading. It's great to have a tv lounge in a b and b. Everything else was brilliant.

Review 27:Bed, Breakfast. the hospitality

Review 28:Shampoo in sachets which were impossible to open. Biscuits in small Tupperware boxes. By the time you get the box open the biscuits were broken. Minor points, but so easily rectifiable.

Review 34:Pleasant, comfortable, and conveniently situated. The very best thing was the gracious hospitality of our hosts Maeve and John. Wonderful experience!

Review 35:the front door on latch at night though we were given keys.

Review 40:The owner was friendly and the place was clean. Easy to find and park, it was a short walk into town which was great. We had a good value for money breakfast So Good!

Review 41:We arrived in the early evening and received a warm welcome. The room was clean and a good size. Short walk into the town centre. Even though the house is right on a main road, the night was quiet and therefore a perfect location if you want to stay in the centre of Clonakilty. Thank you to our lovely host and we hope you are feeling better! Nina & Jonathan

Review 42:The guesthouse was so easy to find and so convenient to town center.I was very impressed with the toweling dressing gowns provided. There was also a hair dryer and a hot water bottle, brilliant, very thoughtful. On booking I requested gluten free bread, (if at all possible) and was delighted when I was given gluten free cake and biscuits in our room to accompany the cup of tea/ coffee but not only that, there was gluten free toast, sausage and pudding also available at breakfast. Our room was spacious, spotless and so comfortable. There were chairs and tables at the rear of the premises for sitting out also and with the warm friendly staff our stay was so lovely and such value for money. I'll most definitely recommend Macliam Lodge Guesthouse.
