Reviews for Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens

Review 1:The room was beautiful and had plenty of space. There was a beautiful bathroom with everything we needed provided for us. Lovely views and gardens. Very friendly staff. Located about ten min drive from the town. Great entertainment in the town. Highly recommend.

Review 2:Mattress and pillows were not good quality. Pillows in particular were uncomfortable.

Review 3:Excellent breakfast, cooked to order. Lovely location close to town but quiet.

Review 4:The sleigh type bed in the room we were given was noisy and not standing solidly, rocked when moved. We had to jam it up against the wall so it was steady. The mattress was very uncomfortable, springs seem to be gone. Had a pain in my back the following morning, and didn't sleep. Gor a new room next morning which was far better with divan type bed and mattress was adequate. A bit too quiet, nothing going on,didn;t like the sitting area being the lobby. Not comfortable the way the chairs placed, and being at the front door of hotel, not quiet room to go to to read or watch tv except the bedroom.

Review 5:Friendly. courteous, helpful staff. Good cleanliness. Good food. Good information at reception as to what is on in Clonakilty and around about.

Review 6:a very comfortable room with a lovely breakfast in the morning. A great value hotel with lovely views and gardens. better suited to those with own transport

Review 7:We initially had been given room 203 but was too close to a noisy to a kitchen extractor fan. However there was no problem about changing room.

Review 8:The spacious room 206 was excellent and very well furnished with a "sleigh" bed and separate bath and shower. The breakfasts were excellent. You must try the homemade brown bread...its made in the hotel and is absolutely delicious. It was that good we bought three loaves before we left at only €3 each,

Review 9:Our room had a view of a wall! There are rooms with nice views but the hotel was full so!

Review 10:A nice quiet hotel. The wedding venue is away from the hotel so even with a wedding on, the hotel is calm!

Review 11:Please ask the waitress to wait until guests are seated for breakfast before she takes the order. On both mornings the waitress took the order before I had a chance to settle myself at the table. On the second morning the hot food arrived well before we had finished our cereal and fruit!! Marks on bathroom door which could be easily wiped off.

Review 12:Gardens are amazing, definitely a lovely wedding venue. Staff are friendly.

Review 13:The setting of this hotel is glorious - great views from an elevated position. Room facilities were excellent and the hotel was spotless. We only stayed one night as we were touring, but could easily have stayed longer.

Review 14:Facilities available at hotel limited but lots to do and see in the locality.

Review 15:Great breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, great value for money, best WiFi ever.

Review 16:What didn't we like? That er had to leave the next day!!

Review 17:I think we liked everything. Friendly son of owners, Neil, was nice and gave us some of the family history about the property.

Review 18:The electrical system which I believe was above a wardrobe gave out high pitched buzzing. particularly apparent at night.Too a while therefore to fall asleep. Also had to put hand behind wardrobe to turn on bathroom light switch.

Review 19:Clean and Presentable. Very Efficient Check in / Check Out. Lovely Gardens. Breakfast OK

Review 25:Bed was too soft and breakfast was almost stingy, I orders egg bacon and tomato I literally got 1 egg, 1 half tomato and 1 rasher. On requesting more bacon for both of us we got two rashers on a side plate- 1 each

Review 30:As we were attending a wedding in another hotel, we didn't spend much time in Fernhill House Hotel. It seemed a friendly and well run hotel. There was a good choice for breakfast. We found the choice of a small Irish cooked breakfast welcome as we had a large wedding dinner the evening before. After breakfast, we has a nice walk around the lovely grounds. We could recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay.

Review 38:Everything about the place was A1, staff, rooms, facilities, food, garden and family members.I really could not fault anything. Nobody interfered with you or kept asking questions.

Review 39:It's a pity I can't think of either girls nAmes, they were both working in the bar and restraunt on Tuesday evening the 23rd, they are both to be commended, and congratulated on not alone their excellent manner, but their genuine politeness was infectious. Kind regards alan

Review 40:The Hotel and food were of a very high standard. The Staff without exception were unobtrusive, whilst being helpful and positive. We would certainly book this Hotel again next year.

Review 41:Nothing (lunch and dinner were so good felt the hotel could have promoted them more to guests!)

Review 42:Great food and wonderful breakfasts Excellent staff who couldn't be more helpful - made my mother in laws 92nd birthday memorable Lovely comfortable, clean, spacious room with balcony and great view Super value for money

Review 43:Small single bed, Room at back of hotel looking over a service yard and brick wall of building opposite, Noise from a generator, Small bathroom, no shelf to place toilet bag etc

Review 44:Friendly staff, bar food, location, free car park

Review 45:The fact that we had to leave after 2 nights!!!!

Review 46:The feeling that we were most welcome and that our custom was much appreciated. Felt it was a family run hotel with constant attention to detail and the needs of their guests..

Review 47:Porter came to the room said he was looking for keys from another guest and proceeded to look under the bed, My husband had returned to his car to get items porter arrived just after my husband came back, i found it quite strange as if the porter was looking for anither guest, regards Jean Moriarty

Review 48:Wifi in room very good. Prompt friendly room service. Great selection for breakfast and the complimentary newspaper is a lovely touch for those breakfasting alone. Very reasonably priced.

Review 52:noisy neighbours at night. difficult teenager in adjacent room,

Review 56:last morning lawnmower/ machine started @ 9.30 in t he morning. not great if you need a lie on. just a small point, overall the hotel is run very well with well trained staff. '

Review 57:lovely drives along the coast. the town is nice for a stroll, and some great restaurants. nice quiet bar in the hotel

Review 61:asked when booking for a double room,as shown on there booking site .when i got there i recived a triple room ,it was a lovely room if a triple room was what you payed for ,not cheap by any means .so i showed them there advertised double rooms and was informed i should have asked for a suite.very disapionted as i asked for a room as shown on site .

Review 62:We found the standard of food disappointing.

Review 63:The staff were most helpful. The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed sitting and strolling in them. everywhere was spotless.

Review 64:Could not fault this hotel. Staff were really friendly on arrival and through our stay. Room was bigger than we thought we had choice of 4 beds 3 single and 1 double in a triple room. Everything was spotless from the beds, carpet, bathroom. Crisp white bed linen and modern décor in both bedroom and bathroom. We had a lovely view of the surrounding country side. Didn't hear a sound all night long. Even though there was a debs function on the night we stayed but they kept it completely under control and we didn't even know it was on. The gardens are so nice and reminded us a little of the Japanese gardens in kildare with little bridges and gazebos and the view of the surrounding countryside is beautiful. It would be a beautiful place to have a wedding or other functions. The breakfast was another lovely surprise with fresh pastries and homemade brown bread and the usual fruit and a cooked breakfast to order included in the price. I really could not fault it and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very close to inchydoney where we went during the day.

Review 65:Nothing about hotel, it's a bit of walk into town if u don't want to drive, but it's still only 10 or 15 minutes
