Reviews for Moorings Hotel
Review 1:The menu that was in the room was not what was available from the kitchen due to the refurbishment. The Bedroom menu should be removed from the rooms until it is again available.
Review 2:Staff were very friendly and the room was comfortable.
Review 3:Breakfast was poor and the hotel was noisy at night (plumbing, doors slamming etc.).
Review 4:Ok place to stay while in Motherwell as there aren't really any other options. Good wifi and rooms clean.
Review 5:The breakfast let down our stay. 'Extremely' small portions for cooked breakfast. Breakfast staff not particularly welcoming. A smile would have been lovely.
Review 6:Lovely Hotel. Fantastic rooms. Evening meals really nice.
Review 7:Probably the stairs could have been a problem if we were less able, but a minor point.
Review 8:Staff were very helpful. The room was neat and tidy, and had all the facilities we required.
Review 9:Good location, very friendly and helpful staff. Accommodation was excellent and good value for money. Met up with friends for dinner in hotel which was most enjoyable. Would stay here again.
Review 10:The breakfast was rather sparse. Definitely not something I would recommend the hotel for. One slice of bacon, one sausage, one egg, half a tomato and a small potato scone made up my breakfast. I didn't want mushrooms or black pudding but had expected perhaps an extra slice of bacon to compensate!
Review 11:The hotel is in s good location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and in good decorative order.
Review 12:disabled facalities poor cold dining room very expensive compared to other hotels standards are not what expected for Best Western rooms fine given room up 20 plus stairs along a corridor down stairs then to end of hotel. Disabled visitor.
Review 13:the second room fine. clean and bright
Review 14:Lovely, listed Victorian building with many original features. Good, central location to the town of Motherwell. Staff friendly and helpful. Food good too.
Review 15:2nd or 3rd floor and no lift. Restaurant charged for 2 decanters while we only ordered and got one. Bråkat was bad. The full Scottish was greasy, the black pudding dry and it took ages to get.
Review 16:The room was nice and a nice bathroom.
Review 17:The beds were rock hard! We were going to sleep on the floor at one point. Our room was also next to the gents toilets so we heard everything, all night.
Review 18:Very nice hotel, well situated and clean. Staff very helpful and pleasant too.
Review 19:The bar prices were expensive i.e for a glass of wine and a pint of lager it was nearly £10. So needless to say we did not stop in the bar for a drink after the first time.
Review 20:The location was ideal both for the shops and train station ( only £4:80to go to Glasgow)
Review 21:Toe nail clippings were found on bedroom floor on arrival had to alert staff to clean it and even after returning to our room there were still visible toe nails. Off putting.
Review 22:No socket near the mirror for drying hair, only one bedside lamp, no shelf in shower for soap or shampoo. Wash hand basin leaked.
Review 23:The food was great and staff were friendly and attentive even though there was,a wedding taking place there, during our stay. The location is great, very near the station. We were well looked after.
Review 24:The Wi-Fi in our room didn't work. Not a huge problem as we were only there overnight, but slightly disappointing.
Review 25:Friendly and efficient staff; convenient location; comfortable, quiet, clean room; good breakfast.
Review 26:No bad experience. Good hotel. Have stayed before and would again.
Review 27:The room was good and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was good but not overly generous. Car parking is excellent.
Review 28:Noises neighbors ( which is no fault of the hotel or staff )
Review 29:Fantastic staff, always there to help with anything from manager to cleaner, great team.Always with a smile
Review 30:The door to the room was very heavy to open at first I thought it was locked but just need a good shuve. Not a real problem.
Review 31:The design of the bedroom and the hotel in general.
Review 32:We were bride and groom and it would have been nice for that to be recognised -we got to the hotel around 1am and couldn't get a drink - no option for late check out and no wee extra touch in room
Review 33:"Pet friendly" is not an accurate description. "Grudgingly tolerant of Pets" would be closer. Dogs are allowed only on the floor of the hotel room, there isn't even a bar area where dogs can sit while you have a drink. We had to have one in the room. Very poor.
Review 34:The lady at the front desk was really lovely.
Review 35:Nothing bad but didn't really like the odd spiral staircase down to room level. The "continental" bit of breakfast was a bit measly (although the full Scottish bit was lovely).
Review 36:Good, clean, comfortable rooms - not big but quiet. Bathrooms very small but clean.
Review 37:Although there was a wide enough choice of food for breakfast, some items of hot food had been pre-cooked and reheated (bacon, dry and crisp and the potato scones too hard to eat). The Reception area is dull and uninspiring and the staff at the desk are the same.
Review 38:This hotel is clean and functional. The room was very comfortable with attention to detail. We particularly liked the free wifi.
Review 39:The whole package was excellent from the welcome by reception and their help during our stay to the room which was comfortable and quiet and the the breakfast which hit the spot.
Review 40:Excellent facilities, outstanding cleanliness and friendly, efficient staff. Rooms have been decorated and carpeted since my last visit in 2013 and this gives a very warm comfortable feel. I will defiantly visiting again.
Review 41:Food, although nice was a bit hit and miss,,,we only had a shower in our room that could have been a bit more powerful !!!
Review 42:Hotel was excellent & staff were very nice !!
Review 43:We were unable to have dinner at the hotel as they were 'too busy' with a wedding party and other celebrations.I do think that resident guests are just as important especially as we had travelled a distance.
Review 44:Staff not very friendly on arrival, was told hotel was to busy to offer us an evening meal if we wanted one, we werent shown to our room especiely when it was down a spiral staircase, couldn't get a late drink, to be honest just not made to feel very welcome !!! our friends came to meet us at the hotel and they were not made to feel very welcome either !!!
Review 45:The room was clean and the bed was cumfy, bathroom a bit small
Review 46:? Long hard think here? There's a kerb in the car park that made it difficult for two cars to enter/exit at same time.
Review 47:Days before arriving the staff contacted me and because I wasn't part of the two wedding parties they moved out room so we didn't have any noise from the disco.
Review 48:Room was poor from a natural light point of view and water pressure in shower after first 30 seconds was none existent no good when your in a rush
Review 49:Quick and easy at reception
Review 50:Would love there to be bigger beds and also thicker walls in rooms. Could hear the conversation going on in room next door and when they returned to room late at night and switched TV on it sounded like it was in our room.
Review 51:Rooms well decorated and clean, staff friendly and helpful. Good location.
Review 52:Service very slow at breakfast even though it was not busy. The cooked breakfast sounded fantastic but was in fact a very small portion for what was described as a full Scottish breakfast.
Review 53:The staff were very helpful, the hotel was clean and there is plenty of parking, breakfast was great with lots of choice and the price was fantastic I will be back next year
Review 54:The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Stayed at Hotel because family holding an event there on Saturday lunchtime. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast.
Review 55:I live in a country area with little traffic noise so being on a main road the traffic was noticeable, however at midnight it was fairly quiet
Review 56:Good Location, very easy to find. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Very pleasant and helpfull staff Tasty meals at a reasonable price
Review 57:The only thing that I would mention was there was no shelf space in the bathroom, but as I did not spend to much time there it was not the end of the world.
Review 58:The steak a got was cooked to perfection however, a would rather have my meal on a plate and not on a wooden chopping board with the chips in a wire basket
Review 59:The staff are really friendly and always their to help,Food tasted really good
Review 60:Not a fault to find
Review 61:Very well appointed room - lovely bed linen, very comfortable bed and pillows. Compact bathroom with very good shower and towels and heated rail Top notch housekeeping. . Receptionist charming and very helpful. Breakfast - excellent.
Review 62:The Wifi wasn't very strong in the room.
Review 63:The Room was a great size. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent. And the staff was always pleasant and willing to help.
Review 64:breakfast was greasy and tasteless. They ran out of fresh orange juice. Housekeeping staff very noisy at 9am, slamming doors and standing right outside my door having full blown personal conversations. No consideration for sleeping guests.
Review 65:room was ok, comfortable and clean. Free parking and free wifi was great.
Review 66:Could do with more shelf space in the bathroom.
Review 67:The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, the hotel foyer and bar were well presented and the bed was very comfortable
Review 68:N/A everything was excellent
Review 69:Staff were friendly and helpful especially Susan on reception. We would certainly return if in the area and recommend to others.
Review 70:Nothing
Review 71:We very much enjoyed our brief stay at The Moorings. All the staff we met were friendly and very helpful. We had a very good dinner in the restaurant which we all enjoyed. The location is excellent if travelling by car as it's sufficiently near to the motorway to be convenient but not so close that you can see of hear it. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it without reservation.
Review 72:Friendly staff, very comfortable room and good level of facilities within bathroom although water flow from shower head poor. Decent breakfast (only meal taken in hotel)
Review 73:Great restaurant and wonderful friendly staff. It felt like a home from home. Great attention to detail they even had semi skimmed milk option on the tea tray which is virtually unheard of.
Review 74:Drinks (wine) expencive Some of the younger staff were a little too noisy during the evening meal. On the 4th day of being there I was told for the first time I needed to hand my room door swipe card in when I left the hotel.
Review 75:Excellent food. Good food portions. Nice size room. Good location for my buisness trip.
Review 76:No comment liked every thing xx
Review 77:I enjoyed my stay even though it was 1 night I would recommend this hotel to any one staff were all friendly and welcoming accommodation was lovely cleaned at a high level reception staff were just lovely so polite and welcoming and takes time to talk to u very lovely girl who was on reception on night and morning 28/29 oct nothing was too much trouble xxx
Review 78:There was nothing to dislike about this hotel.
Review 79:The rooms were well appointed. I especially liked the blackout curtains ensuring a good nights sleep. The staff were helpful and friendly. Wifi was a bonus, allowing us to investigate things to do in the local area and entertain the children.
Review 80:I have no complaint about any aspect of the service on offer at The Moorings
Review 81:The staff on the Reception desk were extremely helpful. The room itself was very comfortable. The breakfast was good value for money. The location was ideal for me as I was travelling to and from Motherwell by train.
Review 82:I thought the drinks were a bit pricey.
Review 83:Hotel easy to find and plenty of parking. Good sized room, clean and well maintained. Staff all very friendly and helpful. We only used the restaurant for breakfast, which was really good. Nothing to complain off.
Review 84:Some real ale in the bar would have been nice.
Review 85:Nice spacious and comfortable room, nice complimentary toilets, fair price. Decent bar. I use hotels in the area frequently and can highly recommend this as one of the best.
Review 86:The one down point was the shower which did not have enough pressure and when running a bath, the water was had dirt particles in it, making it brownish for a short period, before emptying and refilling. This could have been down to lack of use but is worth checking out. The room in itself was kept very clean.
Review 87:Our room was modern and very comfortable. Street view but did not hear traffic noise. Staff friendly and bar area also very modern with a good selection. Full Scottish Breakfast (inc with room price) was great quality (ask for it with haggis). Very local to Motherwell station (half an hour journey to Glasgow). Would definitely stay here again!
Review 88:Water in the room would have been nice.
Review 89:The restaurant food was excellent & breakfast good. Very comfortable bed. All staff were friendly and polite.
Review 90:Excellent location, wonderful , friendly and very helpful staff. Very comfortable and clean room. Modern décor , throughout ,but in keeping with the original building. Food of excellent quality and served in pleasant surroundings
Review 91:No particular concerns.
Review 92:Great value - had a clean and well provisioned room - food was good also. A well-located hotel as a stopover when travelling from Scotland down south.
Review 93:I frequently stop at hotels through out the year and this is one of the best, the hotel is excellent as are the staff. I have no hesitation to come back to this hotel.
Review 94:The location, clean, affordable, it was a great experience and exactly what we hoped to get when we booked it online, would definately stay there again.
Review 95:The prices were ramped up due to the Commonwealth Games, however I guess this was the same everywhere
Review 96:Room was very nice with very comfy bed, couldn't fault the room however the maid trying to enter one day while we were getting ready was a little of a surprise to us
Review 97:Dog friendly, but we could not take him anywhere except the room! Triple room had a put up bed not a proper single bed?
Review 98:Pleasant dining area for breakfast. Great food. Friendly staff.
Review 99:The spotlights above the bed (room 8) were too bright but I have never been to an hotel where there were no reading lights. If one partner sleeps & the other reads, this is impossible in room 8. If all rooms were the same, that would be enough to stop me returning.
Review 100:All of the above & the staff seemed genuinely interested in any comments we had to make;they could not have been more helpful.
Review 101:The food was a little overpriced for what it was, still very nice but not quite worth the price. Breakfast was disappointing. The TV was a pain but liveable with.
Review 102:The room was incredibly clean and comfortable. The staff were really helpful and pleasant. The Laundry Service was very useful and not badly priced.
Review 103:We were allocated a triple room which was up four flights of stairs. I had asked in my booking if the hotel had an elevator as my two elderly companions had walking difficulties but staff told me they did not receive this part of my booking. Unfortunately, we could not get another room for three adults on any lower floor. This room also was billed as triple room but there was two twin beds and a camp bed added. Uncomfortable.
Review 104:Dinner was lovely. Staff very nice, friendly
Review 105:As one of the party was elderly she found the stairs a wee bit of a problem
Review 106:Excellent meals Reception and breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 107:Really pleasant relaxing hotel, good breakfast
Review 108:Friendly staff and made us welcome
Review 109:Bar over priced!
Review 110:The rooms were very nice and modern and the location was excellent for us
Review 111:Very friendly and efficient staff good food nice tidy room
Review 112:Breakfast was just ok.
Review 113:Mostly everything !
Review 114:No lift
Review 115:Nice comfy room
Review 116:The breakfast was a bit lacking in taste
Review 117:The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and furnished well.
Review 118:very locall to family
Review 119:Rooms tastefully decorated. Beds very comfortable. Polite and friendly staff. Very enjoyable two night stay. Would certainly recommend you.
Review 120:Staff especially breakfast and standard of room cleaner
Review 121:Nice friendly staff
Review 122:food was excellent
