Reviews for St Giles Heathrow – St Giles Classic Hotel
Review 1:Not close to the tube, about an hour away from central London, close however to bus and train station. Pretty crowded and noisy.
Review 2:Friendly staff genuinely interested to help. Conveniently located near Heathrow Airport, bus ride easy and quick.
Review 3:Heating in the room didn't work. Depressing lighting. Pillows too small. Next to a building site, a railway line and a scrap metal merchants. Lifts very slow. Tiny gym with no windows. Breakfast area felt like a school canteen. The food was salty. Very limited choice at the breakfast buffet. The car park ticket I purchased didn't work.
Review 4:The shower was hot and fast.
Review 5:Pay for internet, single room was small
Review 6:If on a budget and you have time, here is a great deal.it is easy to get to/from heathrow by public bus but a 25 minute bus ride so consider this in your plans. There are a few eating places across the hotel. The room was a little small but smartly laid out.I was there for an overnight connection so I only slept. It met my needs and will consider again.
Review 7:Easy location to get a bus to Heathrow , make sure u have a Oyster card for the buses thi as they don't accept cash. Went to a nice Indian resteraunt 5 mins from hotel for dinner.
Review 8:This is a busy hotel so it can get noisy if you are on the same floor as large groups or flight crews arriving and leaving. Wifi requires additional cost.
Review 9:St. Giles is our favorite stopover hotel in Hounslow. Close to Heathrow, it has an Italian restaurant which is great and a couple of grocery stores within walking distance. The train station is close by and the bus stop is right outside the hotel.
Review 10:Place looked dark and dirty but we were there for just one night before flying out, staff saw me and my son struggling with our 6 pcs of luggage but noone even offered to help!
Review 11:The Manager was helpful and gave directions for KFC
Review 12:Queue to check in. AC in the room didn't work - it was cold 16C. No phone to contact concierge. Bedding unfcomfortable. Dust visible around the seat of the chair. Water did not drain out of the sink. All in all a nightmare of a stay.
Review 13:Close to Terminal 4 Heathrow
Review 14:Poor Heating System.
Review 15:Location.....Just 20 minutes bus ride from Heathrow Airport all Terminals. Feltham Train Station a 5 minute walk from Hotel for very frequent trains to Central London. Great Hotel Staff. Pleasant Restaurant limited Menu but good food. Very good variety for Breakfast Buffet.
Review 16:Funny way to flush a toilet. Not that I disliked it. It was just new. And for the price, they could have included breakfast and WiFi.. Both were chargeable.
Review 17:Convenience. It was just a stopover on out return flight home.
Review 18:Booked executive room but I don't think the room we got was exec. Corridor was very noisy and so was room opposite to us. Drunk people/kids knocking at the door. Busy lift- waited for 10-15 minutes. Called reception but no one answered.
Review 19:Location- close to train station & other local shops, restaurants
Review 20:Sean front desk retarded
Review 21:Nothing absolutely dogshit charged me twice on separate cards then accused me of lies incered bank charges should have slept in the car,...
Review 22:Should offer portable heater immediately when arrived instead we suffer coldness the first night. Didnt get adjoining room as requested.
Review 23:Excellent cleanliness room everyday. There was an electrical trip and when reported, technician arrived immediately.
Review 24:Bed not comfy TV small Heat wasn't working but the staff did provide a portable heater
Review 25:We loved dinner and service at the restaurant Check in was easy Rates were good
Review 26:I accidentally clicked 2015 for the date of staying (the original booking was to be for 2014) and then asked them to cancel as it was a mistake. However, they refused to let it go and only accept the 2014 booking. Therefore, I had to pay for a stay a year later, even though I had no intention of staying there at that date. According to the website they had every right to do this, but they could also have recognised a genuine mistake.
Review 27:I liked the hotel when I stayed in 2014
Review 28:Requested a disability friendly room but only told I had been allocated one when I got there; Booking.com had been told there was none available. Now that the hotel is extending I hope proper wet areas will be available in bathrooms for wheelchair users. Also light switches need to be reachable by someone who has to be helped into bed.
Review 29:Very helpful staff
Review 30:Thr heater/AC was broken and the solution was a portable heater and no better solution was suggested. The wifi is paid separately. The room floor is an old carpet. It takes about 20 minutes to the airport and the transfer is a public paid bus.
Review 31:Is not that close to Heathrow after all, not a particularly comfortable bed. Restaurant not working.
Review 32:Check in was quick, clean place and not too expensive
Review 33:We paid extra for an executive room which didn't offer anything extra . We enquires are were told we should have robes and slippers which we didn't have and that the room had better furniture and carpet ! ! When we returned in the evening there was now 1 gown and pair of slippers not impressed with the so called upgrade . Spoke to the manager and she was quite rude about it
Review 34:Location was perfect for kempton races
Review 35:I was thankful it was not a cold night. The room (213) was cold and although the heating fan worked, the thermostat did not, so there was effectively no heating in the bedroom. Expensive Wi-Fi and car-park as extras made it only average value for money.
Review 36:Pleasant and efficient dining room staff, and good standard of cuisine.
Review 37:No shower gel. A bit to hot in the evening. View of biding site nor good. Staff seem a bit unwelcoming at times.
Review 38:Nice and warm hotel room. Not 100% clean. No shower gel. But for the money it's very cheap so you get what you pay for. It's a nice cheap place to stay on a budget
Review 39:It's a tired looking hotel in need of an upgrade. Pretty soulless bar with the Kardashikns playing away on the TV
Review 40:Not a lot. Relatively cheap except the £7 to park the car
Review 41:Location not as convenient as suggested Room quite basic. One very small tablet of soap, one sachet shampoo and small well used towels. Restaurant adequate .
Review 42:I asked for a quiet room, and late check out, so we could get more sleep. The room was quiet, but there was a knock on the door at 08:00. Upon complaining we were told that could have been housekeeping. We had come back from our party at 03:00. Not good at all, epic fail.
Review 43:Easy to find, car park available.
Review 44:Cleaniliness. Carpets were stained and worn. Shower was warm..couldn't get it hot and the head was caked in limescale.
Review 45:Location was convenient for my purposes
Review 46:It is an old hotel. The ventilaton failed to warm. My room was colder than the hallway and the lobby. I froze first night. They gave me an electric heater for the second night.
Review 47:It is close to the train station. Also to shopping and dinings.
Review 48:This Hotel I have used for so many years 4 to 8 times a year. This time no heating rooms very cold understand repairs underway
Review 49:Great location just 5 minutes walk to Feltham train station for trains to London. Just 20 or so minutes from any Heathrow Sirport Terminal by bus. Feltham small but good shopping area, Houndlow 20 minutes away by buses 117 or 235 a larger shopping area. Great restaurant very good breakfast and restaurant with Grrat Staff
Review 50:No Room Service No staff answering phones No concierge Truly dreadful We left in disgust One car park entrance blocked off so have to travel to the entrance with baggage.
Review 51:Nothing. We left after three hours.
Review 52:The carpet was filthy. The bed springs kept pinginging and I could feel them. V uncomfortable. The furniture was chipped etc. It took me six phone calls form the airport to find out how to get there as I kept being cut off and the staff were clueless. It's not on the heathrow poppa route and cost me £25 in a taxi which I hadn't anticipated. I was not a good experience.
Review 53:The duty manager tried to pacify my by upgrading my room but to be honest the room and bed were the pits so god knows what the economy room was like.
Review 54:the room was absolutely freezing, and the blankets were very thin, we weren't able to get another blanket and the heating clearly didn't work even a small bit because we had to sleep in our big winter coats. wifi was a 'charged service' meaning you had to pay £10 a night for the wifi! this is ridiculous in the middle of london in the 21st century where even mcdonalds allows customers to have free wifi. i was very very disappointed at this.
Review 55:i liked the size of the room itself, the room was very spacious
Review 56:The room I was originally put it. Everything was old and outdated compared to the newer one. So many differences. The toilet wouldn't even flush in the basic one. Not a fan of the restaurant either.
Review 57:The staff was super nice and accomdating. I was super annoyed because of the construction work...it woke me up...the girl upgraded my room and moved me right away. :)
Review 58:The beds were uncomfortable. I have another stay booked soon with my wife who has a bad back and I'm considering cancelling solely for that reason. I also asked for extra pillows but they didn't materialize
Review 59:The staff I met were extremely friendly and obliging. The location was central to my needs.
Review 60:Attached 'Do not Disturb 'sign on door because I arrived late from Heathrow as planned and wanted to sleep in morning. 7:30am hear the Housekeeping knocking on my door and everyone elses door , 8:30 am and they are still trying to get in, good locks on door prevent them but I leave go to Heathrow to get some peace.
Review 61:We ate a meal in the hotel's Italian restaurant and were disappointed with the fish as it was very unappetizing however this was swiftly dealt with and whilst we were offered an alternative, which we declined, the course was not charged to our account.
Review 62:The staff were extremely pleasant, especially the breakfast manager. We skipped breakfast just wanting some coffee and this was made available to us at a small charge.
Review 63:Paying for parking, wifi and breakfast - over the two days I stayed this was an extra £50. Single room was a bit small.
Review 64:Good facilities, convenient location
Review 65:We found the reception staff a little grumpy and our bed was about due for replacement.
Review 66:The bar and restaurant staff were brilliant and very friendly. Great evening meal. We had requested an early check in and the request was honoured. Nice room and great location for Twickenham Stadium. Good value all round.
Review 67:A minor thing, felt the shower could be better. Made sure the curtain was across the bath but still managed to get lots of water on the floor.
Review 68:Very comfortable place to stay our room was basic but all we needed. Clean room and loads of hot water when needed. Asked for extra pillows they almost arrived before we got back to our room. Staff VERY helpful and friendly. For us a good location, near train and bus services.
Review 69:I would not recommend the hotel - the type of hotel that although is clean looks rather filthy; strange smell in the room, that reminds of old furniture. Some major redecoration/ improvements are urgently needed. The single rooms are that tiny that one can barely move the luggage inside the room (at least the room that I was given).
Review 70:The hotel is well located if one needs accommodation close to the Heathrow International Airport and limited travel to the city centre (for connection flights/ travel with overnights stays). Apart from the location, the staff - in particular Andrei at the Concierge desk and Eduard at the reception - made the stay more enjoyable. They were extremely helpful staff members that managed to improve the overall image of the hotel.
Review 71:Okay, you are forcing me into a corner here. If I have to make a criticism it is with great difficulty that I can find anything to criticise. But I have to admit that the room could have been a bit warmer. But then again, I was with a really hot lady (my fiancee) so we were not bothered by that. I would never have dreamed of complaining, were it not fro the fact that you are seeking true and accurate feedback. Overall, if anyone were to seriously complain about this hotel then they need to pat several times what they paid to stay at St. Giles. Note to the General Manager, Sir, i take my hat off to you for running such a wonderful hotel and yet keeping the prices so low. Well done to yourself and to your entire stafe. Diane and myself thank you for a truly great night.
Review 72:Very comfortable bed. Superlative food and, you know what? The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful if I had paid Hundreds of pounds for the night. Your chef, as I have said before, is a credit to his profession and your company must, repeat, must , do all they can to retain his services.Overall, this was a wonderful night at a wonderful hotel. You bet your sweet arse that my girl and I will be staying there again.
Review 73:Staff at reception is non cooperative also when we call over phone, it is always going to voice mode. Also most of the times the elevator was not working
Review 74:I like only the location and nothing else.
Review 75:Noisy guests knocking each other up for flight connections to Heathrow at 0400 hours on first night - Not the hotels fault though if they know people are getting early flights put others on a different floor?
Review 76:Helpful staff, clean and decent facilities
Review 77:I have to say I might be biased since I had to stay at this hotelfollowing a flight cancellation at Heathrow, so I was not in a good moodand very tired (I arrived at the hotel around 8:30pm, there was noassistance at Heathrow so I had to arrange the hotel and the new flighton my own)The reception staff was very unpolite. I don't care if it's a stressfull evening because many flights are being canceled and too many guests are coming. I pay to be a guest and I want to be treated as a guest. Probably related to a miscommunication between the hotel reservation system and booking.com, my 60GBP room + 10GBP internet reservation became a 70GBP room without internet. I was so tired I did not care. The room was far from what described as executive room, but it was still OK, I just wanted a bed. I was very happy to see a hair dryer, unfortunately it was not working. I reserved a taxi for the next morning at 6am, I took with me another guest of the hotel whose taxi reservation was not forwarded but luckily for her I had more or less the same time schedule. Lastly, I needed a receipt for forwarding the reimbursement to the flight company, in the morning of course the machines were not working, I left my email address so they could send it to me. Ten days after, still no news from them, contacted St Giles with online form and no answers, called them today. They said to forward the reservation and so I did, 4 hours after still no receipt, so I got pissed and decided to write this review. I am usually very sympathetic and rarely complain, but won't stay there another time unless in extraordinary circumstances like another flight cancellation.
Review 78:Water was nicely hot
Review 79:Wi fi charge parking charge breakfast started after we left in the hotel smokers hanging out right by the door attitudes of night make staff
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:£10 breakfast rip off!! No trains into Lo don and stAff didn't offer alternative options
Review 82:I like the location and the kids enjoy seeing all the planes
Review 83:No hot water. The room was dirty and dusty. I had to clean everything myself.
Review 84:I found the employees very friendly and helpful. Especially a lady named June. Very satisfied with employees on desk.
Review 85:The narrow bed was very bad, cover dirty, pillow made of stone, room like a monastic cell, St. Giles is a patron saint of cripples and, it has to be added after a stay at the hotel, a patron saint of flesh mortification.
Review 86:Cost of parking in hotel car park overnight was astronomical. I parked in a side road and got soaked walking to hotel. 10 pounds for breakfast ridiculous. Should be included in cost of stay 45 pound a fortune for me.
Review 87:Easy access to my onwards destination.
Review 88:We went in winter but yet the room was always muggy when we would leave for the day and return. The one window we had did not open so we relied on the aircon that did nothing for us. We were sweating in the room from just walking around. A week of no fresh air in the room was a pain. Bed pillows were as thin as can be which gave my mum and I sore necks and bathroom had mould. Luckily we didn't expect too much.
Review 89:The staff were awesome. Very helpful! Considering it was our first time we didn't need a map as people helped us out. There is a station 5min walk and shop 1walk. Heathrow airport 2klms away.
Review 90:Last time I stayed, both breakfast and WiFi were included in the price. This is no longer the case, so the hotel in no longer such good value for money - disappointing, rather...
Review 91:Great location whether you need to get to Heathrow or want to get into central London, the latter only 30 min away with 4 trains per hour.
Review 92:The noise was terrible work people outside my window on a Sunday morning very early drilling and banging and had no sleep through this as a result I missed my meeting due to this, when telling reception there was no sorry and not even offering me a room for the night to sleep, as a business person I will not be telling my friends to stay here as I have had no sorry or anything in return.
Review 93:The food was nice and the people were friendly
Review 94:it was not clean not nice the bed was not clean too , I don't think it deserve the money I paid for these type hotel should charge only £20 a night no more , I don't think am the first one to complain about this hotel
Review 95:I did not like anything about this hotel
Review 96:First room was filthy, mould up the bathroom wall and plaster off the wall, base of part of the wall lying on the bathroom floor, the bed sheets were ripped and dirty. Moved to another room was so hot was unbearable and the air conditioner was broken and you couldnt open the windows, asked for more pillows in the morning still not delivered when we returned at 11pm had to ask again. Couldnt get an iron and ironing board asked at 7am was told all out but would try to find one, at 8.30 asked again told same thing, by 9.30 went looking myself. Have stayed at this hotel on many occasions last 2 times have been awful, wont be staying again.
Review 97:Man that runs the restaurant in the morning is excellent, unfortunately food isnt!!
Review 98:I had arranged an early check in, but the room wasn't ready. Had to get changed for work in the disabled toilet. Paying for parking as I was a paying guest.
Review 99:I liked the prices of drinks in the bar, I liked the location, I liked the room.
Review 100:the hotel was testing the fire alarm system the entire afternoon. At airport hotels people will want to be able to sleep at all hours. Just arrived from the USA and finding the alarm goin every 5-10 minutes is a real pain.
Review 101:I was kept awake by a banging noise and then noise from building work was very loud in the morning. Plus housekeeping knocked a good hour before check out.
Review 102:The style of the room was nice but bed could have been bigger. The location was great for convenience.
Review 103:Some staff not overly happy. Eating behind breakfast serving area. Food could of been presented better. Tables were dirty at breakfast. Room was hot even with air con.
Review 104:Nice location
Review 105:Three times the travel distance from Heathrow than the 10 minutes they claimed totally destroyed my schedule. 10 pounds to use WIFI for an hour is ridiculous. (They point out that the 10 pounds is for 24 hours, but due to the lengthy travel and need to purchase and Oyster card and get a refund to even get there, only an hour was left as even possible.)
Review 106:Minimal hassle
Review 107:Single room was a little small. Only one lift operating in the morning at 7.00 am. Very long wait! Furniture in the room was very dirty. Big car park was good but a bit pricey.
Review 108:Value for money is about right. Good bath room in room.
Review 109:weird bed, comfortable but with a worn out mattress, when my partner got into bed, my side rose up about a foot! Not as handy for Heathrow as it says on line
Review 110:Friendly staff, clean room.
Review 111:It was drab and not attractively decorated. The hotel is clearly for people just needing an overnight stay before flying out, as was our case. A bit too far from Heathrow to be considered at Heathrow.
Review 112:Not much, actually, but the restaurant was OK.
Review 113:The hotel was out dated and needed alot of upgrades. I am glad I brought ear plugs, because the traffic outside was very load. Police and ambulance sirens about every 15 minutes.
Review 114:The Bed was comfortable and the restaurant was very good with a large menu of items to choice from.
Review 115:building is old and out of date. your website misleads people to think that you have a complimentary airport shuttle which is not the case. hotel needs remodeling.
Review 116:employees were nice
Review 117:They wanted 10 pounds Sterling for internet. It should be free.
Review 118:Good clean accommodation. Nice big room, but very basic furnishings. I requested a quiet room and it was
Review 119:There was not any direct phone dialing to the reception..heating not working...wifi connection very slow and on charge, thats crazy!...too expensive for the delivered services...
Review 120:Very Close to the bus/train station. Fast check-in
Review 121:Bedroom had marks on chairs, dust on bed, bathroom and desk, bathroom had mould in there and I am highly allergic to mould. I did tell someone when I noticed it and clearly no one did anything about it.
Review 122:The only thing was the fact the location was close
Review 123:but their concierge was not at all helpful. He seemed to be not very happy with his role which is helping guests.
Review 124:The front desk staffs were helpful t As for room it was decent & clean.
Review 125:All staff were very accomodating.I arrived later than I expected to, later than the listed opening hours for the restaurant, but the chef was happy to provide me with a lovely dinner.
Review 126:Journey to Heathrow was over five miles by bus and then a further journey to T5 - naming the hotel as "St Giles Classic Heathrow" is a little imprecise.
Review 127:Good value for money. Easy check-in. Clean and secure.
Review 128:It is at a dead end ..beware when u r going there...it seems a dead end...n the hotel is right there...very tiny entrance
Review 129:It is a cheap hotel, my main problem was the location
Review 130:A bit of a dodgy location for a young woman arriving late at night
Review 131:That it wasn't far from both the airport and a train station. And the staff were reasonably helpful.
Review 132:Bar food under cooked chips chicken wings were tough as if reheated too many times also burgers not told cheese is in there & asked how you like it cooked
Review 133:Very clean& friendly wld use again if going to Heathrow
Review 134:Locaton...a pain to get there on the 285 bus from Heathrow. Advertised distance is straight line, not actual trsnsit route
Review 135:Very nice staff, gym, restauant.
Review 136:Had to pay 10 pound for Internet, that is 24 dollars in our money. Only accomadation in world that has done this. Travelling for 6 months, Central and South America . Service at restaurant poor, food not great. Went to McDonalds for breakfast as it was so bad. Location not great via subway, especially carrying a heavy pack.
Review 137:Toilet paper holder broken, shower curtain rod rusted, no facility for bag stand, no stationery provided, no telephone in the room. Ice machine on 5th floor broken. Room carpet tacky.
Review 138:Location and the staff at the reception.
Review 139:The ladies at the reception are very nice and welcoming...but some staff and cleaners are not friendly. I am not sure whether it is because of my color or race.
Review 140:It is a nice environment, And close to some shops you can buy basics..and not far from bigger shops you can get almost everything and anything.
Review 141:Paying £10 per day for wifi is a con, especially when you can only use one device at a time. For a business traveller this is a show-stopper. I will go to the Prem Inn next time.
Review 142:The room was very nice, comfortable and clean
