Reviews for Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa
Review 1:No great atmosphere in bar on Friday night . Entertainment good but only 6/8 guests in attendance .Heating controls info indicated a door on the rad cover to controls. Could not locate and thus could not control heat. #408.
Review 2:Location , staff , Breakfast experience, relaxed atmosphere
Review 3:I found the swimming pool area to be a bit dreary and could do with a revamp. We also got charged €9.00 for a pot of tea for two when we arrived in the residents lounge which I thought was a bit steep.
Review 4:The room was very nice and it had a balcony overlooking the ocean. The staff were very helpful from the reception area to the bar and dining room.
Review 5:Was abandoned in middle of check out. Had to ask another staff member to take over. Health spa counter staff could be nicer.
Review 6:Amazingly friendly and helpful staff.
Review 7:Everything was fantastic- bar food, room, muscle melt massage, dinner at The Gulfstream was superb and beautiful artwork all over the hotel. Wherever your eyes rest there's something beautiful. Staff friendly efficient and helpful. The two beaches are stunning. A wonderful place to escape to.
Review 8:I didn't like that the pool was cold I found it uncomfortable and the steamroom had no steam and relaxion room was a little cold too so I was a bit disappointed with it
Review 9:I liked staff was very friendly helpful food was good decor in room was very nice
Review 10:There was building work ongoing so facilities were not optimised and work started at 9 am each day and was disruptive
Review 11:What a lovely location and so relaxing
Review 12:the rate per room was away over priced for November. The mattress was well past its sell by date. The hotel is way over rated for where its situated
Review 13:Bar food was excellent but again over priced.
Review 14:From the welcome at reception with a complementary Irish Mist to departure with complementary pot of Inchydoney homemade jam our stay was one of relaxation and comfort with good fresh locally sourced food in beautiful surroundings
Review 15:No shortage of really helpful staff - all dealings for example reception and in the dining room - staff second to none!! View front room just stunning.
Review 16:The price is not good.and you do not have royal card for staying. So that's meaning that how ever I always to choose your hotel then I still get same price and sometimes charge me more.i have had book 2 more 2 nights in the different month this year. But the price is really not good for regularly customers.
Review 17:Hotel room face to the ocean and very good viewing
Review 18:Breakfast time was crazy, not enough room for the people. Staff were not friendly or helpful. Staff were not prepared, the plastic wrapper was still on the white pudding, we had to ask for our tea twice and we had to ask for tea spoons and sugar and we were not given a menu.Check in took longer than expected.bathroom was small and no shower.
Review 19:The view from the hotel. The spa treatment The bed was comfortable.
Review 20:Room was supposed to be a balcony but was situated right beside the dining/breakfast room. Couldn't use the balcony in mornings or evenings. Spa was ok but a little lacking compared to other similar properties
Review 21:Brilliant location and lovely staff
Review 22:There could be a wider menu selection in the Bistro in the evenings
Review 23:Loved our stay at the hotel, from the welcome we received on check in to the little gift we received on checking out. Rooms were very spacious and extremely comfortable.
Review 24:Nonemakes me want to return:
Review 25:We were made to feel very welcome from the word go by the very friendly staff.we loved the pool ,vitality suite and spa area in general.our room with balcony was gorgeous and very quiet ensuring a good night's sleep.food in dunes bar was appetizing and good value with a good atmosphere there and ,again, lovely staff, especially Ross.
Review 26:No air conditioning in rooms!!!!!! Food was good on most occasions but let down once or twice by cremated chips or seriously overcooked when asked for well done. Popular hotel so rooms are a bit the worse for wear at this stage.
Review 27:Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Excellent location if you want to getaway from it all.
Review 28:we have stayed in this SPA lodge many times and are never disappointed its a little expensive but we always say you have to pay for quality and satisfaction .well done staff and crew excellent service above expectation :0)
Review 29:We were underwhelmed by the pool area. It was clean but a little average for such a nice hotel.
Review 30:We loved the beds, very comfortable. The choice for breakfast was excellent! The staff were extremely nice.
Review 31:Breakfast was cold not great, would recommend change of sausages not for everyone's taste, traditional sausages like clonilkity would be super!!!!!!
Review 32:The location the fabulous rooms, the staff brilliant hotel :)
Review 33:We used this as a getaway so the small children in the main restaurant put us off. No conventional 'pub' area. Residents lounge dominated by teens and parents with glowing devices - We could be the odd ones out there!
Review 34:Location couldn't be better. You can walk the beach at low tide for hours. Room good. Bathroom good. Balcony good. Gym, relaxation rooms, pool showers all excellent. Get breakfast early to avoid the screamers
Review 35:Definitey skip the restaurant . Mediocre quality ( fish was tasteless ) and scandalously expensive for what you get . Just drive to the next village .
Review 36:Dunes bar and bistro very noisy but food service and staff were excellent.
Review 37:Everyone we met from staff starting at reception to checkout were absolutely lovely.
Review 38:Beds not very comfortable a bit difficult to find your way around corridors and a pet hate not just with this hotel i.e. Putting on breakfast menu that they are serving freshly squeezed orange juice when it is obviously out of a carton.
Review 39:The location is fantastic and very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 40:We stayed with our 2 year old for a couple of days for a little mini moon after our wedding. Fantastic stay, very child friendly, very relaxing, great good, will be sure to make a return
Review 41:The Inchydoney is by far the best hotel experience I have had to date, the location is fantastic, the hotel itself is beautiful, and facilities are wonderful. However, the best thing about our stay was the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered embodied everything that is great about the Irish people, so chatty and friendly and warm. I cannot wait to visit again!
Review 42:The food was not great! We ordered room service and the sandwich was covered in butter and the chips were cold! The food in the restaurant is way over priced for what you get!For example Lamb was well done when asked for medium rare!
Review 43:The spa was amazing! The location is fantastic. The room was gorgeous!
Review 44:Havent got nothing bad to say at all
Review 45:Waking up to the sound of the sea and looking out at the beach from the balcony while having breakfast was amazing
Review 46:None-
Review 47:A group of us family and friends had a wonderful 2 day stay -the most romantic proposal of marriage ever! Our son proposed in the upstairs lounge with violin and guitar playing in front of every one!! His fiancee was totally shocked - as were her parents!!Memory forever and a good reason to return !
Review 48:Pool was deep all round and not being able to go to the jacuzzi as it was in the centre but this didn't put me off the rest of the hotel
Review 49:I liked arriving and being greated by friendly reception staff. Bags brought to our room. Had a lovely view of the sea and beach from our room. Balcony included in most rooms. Rooms are very spacious. Ate at the bar and food was delicious. Staff were very good and couldn't fault them. Breakfast was fantastic with a great view of the sea. Lovely weather made the trip worth stsyobg
Review 50:That we did not stay longer!
Review 51:Staff was very nice. I had mentioned in the reservation that e'd be there on my daughter's 25th birthday and they had a treat tray with happy birthday in the room when we arrived.
Review 52:Nothing
Review 53:The location couldn't be better. The interior is very tastefully designed. The rooms are spacious. The beds are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The amenities are plentiful and the food is delicious.
Review 54:The bar restaurant downstairs was a little expensive. I ha a bad meal but my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his. Think I may have just ordered incorrectly.
Review 55:Loved it! the spa was amazing and the room was fab!
Review 56:The rooms were very hot particularly in the night, was unable to sleep properly as it was too warm. I would have liked to have had my own thermostat in the room.
Review 57:The staff were superb!
Review 58:Sea salt pool needs a bit of TLC, (tiles etc) but cleanliness not an issue.
Review 59:Staff is excellent. Views stunning. This is the only hotel I stay at when traveling to cork , ( not business related.)
Review 60:Wifi is terrible and really needs to be fixed. Not available in our room. Everytime it did connect, it would drop in and out.
Review 61:Wonderful midweek break. Loved the room, loved the spa, loved the food, loved the relaxation room on the 3rd floor.Loved the swimming pool.
Review 62:I absolutely loved my stay at the Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa. It was a real treat for my boyfriend and I. The rooms were beautiful and the view of the beach and sea were amazing. Really loved the small touches that I think made our stay stand out from any other. In the evening when we returned to our room we heard a knock on the door saying room service. The lady at the door had a sheet of paper with what the weather for the next day would be and an oyster shell with 2 chocolates. This was so thoughtful and really loved this idea. Overall the whole experience was fab and I wish we had booked in for more than 1 night. Will be back again soon.
Review 63:Choice of food in the restaurant is quite limited and the portions are small. Other than that it was lovely.
Review 64:Hotel facilities, Spa experience, sea view, little extras in the room, staff so helpful & friendly. We were sorry to leave.
Review 65:I couldn't say there was anything we didn't like...
Review 66:Loved the location and being on the beach. Staff were so nice and helpful, it felt like a home away from home.
Review 67:no bad experience but felt that the pool in particular could do with some attention - loose fittings and tiles for example. Easter weekend means many small kids everywhere which means lounge area not very comfortable to chill out in which was a pity.
Review 68:staff in the hotel are incredibly friendly and helpful easily showing the best of Irish hospitality. Would happily rate them 7 star! Room was very very comfortable. Lovely location looking out over the Atlantic. Will visit again.
Review 69:What's not to like.
Review 70:Everything was just great, the Irish Mist on arrival was a great touch after such a long journey. Have visited the resort may times in the last 15 years and while always managing to drop in for a drink and some food never managed to stay over. Well I did manage to stay over this time and and well worth it. *****
Review 71:My wife after what we suspect was a bad crab claw came down with a violent bout of food poisoning around 3 hours after eating the crab claws... It wrecked our whole stay. On checking out we asked to speak to a manager about this... The manager seemed to avoid taking any blame or actually apologising. We were offered nothing but a 7up for my wife... We felt shorted that this stay was ruined by the experience.
Review 72:Excellent location, comfortable rooms and superb views.
Review 73:Only thing I didn't like was we had a ground floor room when we would of liked a room with a view but next time we'll get that !!
Review 74:I loved the atmosphere . The staff were excellent at there job . Bedroom was lovely and food was excellent !!
Review 75:The free wifi did not work during my stay along with the telephone in room. I had to use my mobile phone to order room service.
Review 76:I had a room with a balcony&an incredible view of the sea. The room was a generous size and the bed was very comfortable.
Review 77:No single supplement.
Review 78:The warmth and friendliness of the staff, who treat everyone like royalty and care about every detail. The sheer beauty of this blue flag beach, complemented by the stylish decor and the lovely facilities.
Review 79:Would prefer a double bed, not two single beds zipped together.
Review 80:Location is fabulous, with fantastic views.. You don't need to leave this hotel.. It has everything.
Review 81:Staff welcoming Spa/fitness facilities Location; between two beautiful beaches Food offering was excellent Bar inviting Residents lounge fantastic Breakfast delicious
Review 82:The only fault of this resort was the food. Totally not what I had expected of such a highly rated hotel. Poor at best.
Review 83:Room was lovely. Bed was really comfortable. Staff were helpful & friendly.
Review 84:I think there must have been a mistake with my booking . I booked for 2 nights with booking .com but I didn't get my room cleaned till 4 pm on my second evening and when you are out on business all day to return and no room freshed up well that's a disappointment . We got a phone cal from reception saying they had taken out the money from our credit card for 1 night even tough it was booked for 2 nights . And the other item that dissappointed us was there was work going on and we could hear the builders harmerring late at night if we knew they were doing building restoration we probely would have booked in another hotel . We will go back again as we have stayed in that hotel before
Review 85:The food was excellent also the leisure centre is lovely and very clean .
Review 86:The location is wonderful and the facilities great as in numerous 4 and 5* hotels I have stayed at however, it's the warm welcome, the friendly and accommodating staff that make this hotel. I look forward to returning soon.
Review 87:Staff were extremely helpful. I particularly thought the welcome drink and evening weather forecast delivered to your door with chocolates were both lovely touches. Room was large, clean and comfortable. The spa and pool were fab. So many different areas. Perfect for a proper spa day. Overall the hotel was outstanding. It surpassed most 5 star hotels. Hope to be back.
Review 88:Shame the hotel is built behind the car park - the view is interrupted by the car park! Would have been better located behind the building. Pillows a bit hard
Review 89:Big room, sea view, lovely spa, friendly staff, lots of art on the walls and interesting furnishings - not your bog standard corporate hotel design
Review 90:Temperature of the pool could have been a degree or two warmer interior of the lift could do with a spruce up
Review 91:quiet bedrooms no noisy air-conditioning friendly staff good food cosy lounge areas fantastic breakfasts beautiful views
Review 92:Steam room broken not great when you are going there to use the spa facilities. Was kept waiting when checking out staff answering phone while trying to dealing with my check out. When you pay a high price for a hotel you expect some courtesy. Also ordered breakfast and did not arrive until I asked 20minutes later clearly had forgotten my order. Nice hotel but overpriced in my opinion
Review 93:Very Peaceful great location rooms nice
Review 94:Our bed was two single beds pushed together. No newspapers at breakfast. Pool areas is starting to look a little shabby in places.
Review 95:I love this hotel. The room was lovely with a spectacular view. I have stayed here twice and will come back again. My dinner in the bar was amazing. The staff make this hotel. Their service is 5 star.
Review 96:I loved everything about our stay from start to finish from the warm welcome we received to the very thoughtful anniversary well wishes accompanied with some delicious macaroons delivered our hotel room. We also received a yummy jar of jam on check out. It's the little things that really make a difference. We will definitely be back
Review 97:Only thing that was at all disappointing was that children had to be out of the pool by 5pm.
Review 98:Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Our child loved walking on the beach and swimming in the salt water pool. Food in the bar was amazing and reasonably priced. Staff could not have been more helpful. Will most certainly be back.
Review 99:From the first minute we stepped into the hotel it was welcoming and so different from other hotel receptions. When we went to our room it was so peacefully, and nicely decorated we just knew we had picked the right place for our anniversary break.
Review 100:More time there would have been fantastic.
Review 101:Wonderful relaxing hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Stunning location. Myself and my mother had a lovely weekend.
Review 102:nothing!
Review 103:Upon arrival we were given glasses of champagne, we were told to relax on the plush couches in reception where then our bags were carried to our room which was the Inchadoney Suite - it was just pure heaven! We even got pot of jam upon departing! Would recommend this hotel to everyone
Review 104:Nothing, everything was perfect!
Review 105:This is honestly my best stay anywhere. The friendliest staff, willing to do anything you ask of them and an incredible location with immaculate facilities.
Review 106:The price of the food when eating out was very expensive.
Review 107:We enjoyed the relaxation. The sea and the views from our room were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and the people very welcoming.
Review 108:Disappointed in " sea view " which was rather a side -ways beach view . While service was mostly very good the unfortunate clash with a wedding caused great delay in the restaurant ( the food was very good when it did eventually come )
Review 109:Very friendly and helpful staff in all departments . Lovely location . Comfortable and we'll-serviced room Room-service very good Excellent food in both restaurant and room-service .
Review 110:It is difficult to find things I didn't like as it was such a fabulous visit however on arrival on Sunday, the Dune Bar/Bistro was very busy and noisy which didn't seem in keeping with the rest of the Hotel. The seating was a bit cramped and difficult to access.I would think that this is a part of the building that could benefit from some upgrading and expanding as I am sure the fact that it has many day trippers eating there as well as the Hotel guests will keep it busy all year round such is the quality of the food and service.
Review 111:Inchydoney Hotel and Spa is in a most beautifully natural spot.Stunning views from the private balcony make you feel instantly relaxed and downright happy, whatever the weather. When you combine the natural qualities with the surroundings of the Hotel and Spa which are top class, you have the makings of a great stay.Add to the mix,the best staff that I have ever come across, from the Irish Mist provided by staff at reception to the extra pillows provided for my sister recovering from a fractured elbow the extra touches were very welcome and thoughtful. The porter, housekeeping staff, restaurant and bar/bistro staff, are all so friendly, welcoming, efficient and so lovely in a very natural way.I cannot rate them all highly enough. Our meals in both the bar/ bistro and the restaurant were delicious as was the hearty breakfast .I can't wait to return to Inchydoney again.
Review 112:The interior design was so outdated and really tacky. We called it Faux-Vegas. Very overdone design and the beds were horrible. But Lobby design was nice. Way overpriced and overhyped for what was delivered. Food in restaurant was glitzy nouvelle and lacked taste considering the display. My wife hated it.
Review 113:Location by the sea.
Review 114:Food served to us in the Gulfstream restaurant on the Monday night was very bad and when judged aginst the prices charged €12 for starter, €32 for Main and €12 for desert was exceptionsally bad. I quesried if there was kindeed any professional in the kitchen in the night who would admit to serving up such fare- but without reply. Manager reduced bill by €80 eventually after complaint.
Review 115:Great location, excellent facilities, efficient and friendly staff, stunning surroundings and view. Well worth visiting
Review 116:Absolutely everything! We needed a doctor urgently in the night and we cannot stress how helpful the resort was and the doctor was fantastic. A huge thank you to you all
Review 117:That we couldn't stay an extra night as Hotel was booked out... The dressing room area of pool was quite slippy and would of felt a few rubber mats might have helped...
Review 118:Staff were friendly and did not mind our noisy 2yr old twins who watched them hoover, clean etc and chatted about same on the corridors. The play room was great as they had space and we could enjoy a drink without disturbing other guests. The swimming pool was fab and the little man did his first Solo swim in toddler pool so we were all smitten. having the beach so close was great as our two love the beach. They loved the food and staff were very helpful the please even the little ones requests.
Review 119:on three occasion during our 2 night stay the staff just seemed to switch off getting orders wrong, our food been left at another guest table, been forgot about outside the dunes bar for 30 mins, been brought the wrong drink and then they forget to bring back the right one after 15 mins had to go and look for it.At this level of hotel you expect good service but not in inchydoney.
Review 120:there wasnt anything i did,nt like,we had no complaints
Review 121:i loved the spa and the hotel including the food, the staff were so friendly and helpful, im looking forward to my next visit
Review 122:Rooms a bit too warm and there was no extractor fan in the bathroom, a bit annoying after a shower.
Review 123:Location fabulous, staff were friendly and efficient, the spa was lovely. We would definitely return. Great hotel.
Review 124:We loved the spacious room with the balcony overlooking the sea. The service was excellent- all you need is good weather to fully appreciate the views.
Review 125:Having to leave, if we had not made other plans and had to leave we would have stayed for our 3 day trip.
Review 126:From arrival to departure , there was nothing we could fault. The comfort in the room was wonderful , have never slept in a bed like it.reception staff very helpful. The sound of the sea makes the visit so relaxing, we left the balcony door open to wake to the sound of the waves crashing.absolute bliss, we will be back.
Review 127:I think there should be a shuttle bus in to Clonakilty as the Hotel is a bit far out of Town especially when weather is bad. Hotel is a bit isolated which is good but Taxis can be a bit expensive to go to main town.
Review 128:Everything about the Hotel was wonderful and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Review 129:Thermal suite was a bit disappointing. Old and in need of a makeover, pity it takes away from a hotel with such a perfect location. Only other downside I found was we waited at least an hour for food on both occasions, primarily due to how busy the bar was, thankfully this did not take away from the quality of the food.
Review 130:Room was exceptional and staff extremely friendly and obliging, food was delicious.
Review 131:The hotel was fabulous & in a great location. The staff were helpful & very friendly. The food was second to none, would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 132:Bar was very busy and had to wait a long time to be served. The food was lovely though.
Review 133:Location was excellent. Great choice for breakfast. Restaurant was very nice but is expensive. Salt water pool was lovely.
The Fine Print
All treatments at Island Spa must be pre booked to avoid disappointment.Children's hours in the pool are from 10:30am to 12:30pm and from 3pm to 5pm.
