Reviews for Village Hotel Warrington

Review 1:Heating was not working in the room but we were given a small mobile heater. The room was next to a family room and above the swimming pool so pretty noisy.

Review 2:Very good price, breakfast was lovely. Staff very helpful.

Review 3:The staff denying I had areservation on arrival which lasted about 15 minutes till I could put some charge on my phone and prove my reservation.

Review 4:Lovely rooms good breakfast

Review 5:Not informed private party for New years eve and had to leave hotel for food complained ti hotel but were not really bothered

Review 6:I like the hotel and the bar to eat in but could not do this

Review 7:We was put in a disabled room, which meant we had no access to a bath, we had a floor which flooded when we showered which stayed this way for several hours afterwards. We had a very low sink which meant leaning over to use which was very uncomfortable. We feel we were ripped off. Not a good start to our new year. The room was dark so we had all lights on, one was flickering non stop which was very irritating. We went to reception and they told us to turn it up full and didn't check afterwards if everything was OK. We was told nothing about breakfast which we had paid for.

Review 8:The location

Review 9:The hotel was very busy and I was under the impression that they were understaffed. The staff did their best to be honest but they need more as it is really busy there.

Review 10:Very convenient and close to city centre. Also, place is very clean.

Review 11:The bar/pub was incredibly noisy with football matches on large screen at full blast! Therefore, although the food was good we rushed our meal to return to the sanctity of our room.

Review 12:Very friendly receptionist who said our dog could stay at no extra charge!

Review 13:Bathroom had a horrible smell of urine. Light switches are a nightmare, they don't seem to correspond with the lights and there are too many of them.

Review 14:Staff are friendly. Location is great for my work. Facilities are great too and the rooms are lovely.

Review 15:The TV - even the Premier Inns can afford to supply DTV with more than a handful of channels. As I have difficulty sleeping in hotels a good choice of channels is very necessary to me.

Review 16:Clean and comfortable with helpful staff. Convenient location and great reception area for meeting up with people.

Review 17:Room wasn't clean very loud and rowdy guests that wernt respectful of others having a party and physically fighting next door couldn't get hold of reception for help they finally finished partying at 3.40am I had a newborn a 4 year old and a 2 year old

Review 18:Staff were very helpful with my complaint they did give me a full refund

Review 19:Nothing bad to report apart from our room wasn't made up as requested with a travel cot and a bed for our 5 year old but this was very quickly rectified and the staff were fantastic and totally made up for this small error.

Review 20:The hotel has great facilities including 2 great restaurants, a huge swimming pool, spacious bedrooms and fantastic helpful staff who couldn't do enough for us.

Review 21:very dirty and non hygienic and I advise you to review you standards of hygiene and cleanliness. I doubt a hotel room should have blood stains and dirt on newly changed linens.

Review 22:nothing to like

Review 23:The pillows are awful! Had a stiff neck all week, as they are paper thin, even with two and doubled over. The lights are also a total nightmare. Too many switches, which don't seem to correspond with adjacent lights. Noisy deliveries at 6am, which isn't the best under your window in a supposedly superior, upper deck room.

Review 24:Staff are great. Location is great for my work nearby. Nicely decorated room/bathroom. Good choice of TV channels.,

Review 25:I had mentioned when I booked on line that I had my father of 95yrs with me and would have like a more accessible - ground floor room

Review 26:The Hotel was well equipped and the access was ideal as I had my father who is 95 in a wheel chair.

Review 27:Great location, warm and friendly greeting, relaxing environment, well designed rooms, hotel is convenient for the town centre with a short walkway running parallel to the two bridges

Review 28:Bar staff were completely hapless Room was dirty - biscuits on the floor/empty champagne bottle

Review 29:Room was quiet - beds comfortable WIFI - good Burgers in the bar were good

Review 30:Worst nights sleep in a hotel ever. We were left 1 pillow each which was about as thin as a slice of bread so uncomfortable will not be rushing to stay at a village hotel again cannot believe that somebody thought they would be acceptable. Really dissapointed.

Review 31:Staff very friendly and location good.

Review 32:I asked for a quiet room and was put above the squash court which was noisy until after 10pm. Very dark room, which was fine, but bulbs blown on 3 of the lights didn't help.

Review 33:The location for my business trip was excellent, 2 mins walk away. Staff were friendly and bed was comfortable.

Review 34:The £199 price for the room was outrageous! (And that didn't include breakfast!) The dimmable lights in the room pulsated when on maximum - very off-putting!

Review 35:The variety of eateries in the hotel.

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful couldn't fault the place. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Review 38:When arrived the room was freezing, heater was off and even when on never got warm Nothing done to help when explained to reception except to switch heater on.

Review 39:Good place, comfortable and good location. Breakfast was v good

Review 40:Overpriced food and drink in the Verve Bar & Grill. I was also not shown the same care and attention as couples and groups. It’s hard enough as a single dinner in a restaurant without being made to feel like a second class citizen.

Review 41:The location was great for what I wanted. It was close to where I was doing business

Review 42:As above didn't really like any thing about the hotel exeptt the guest I was travelling with will give the village chain a wide berth.

Review 43:I had a twin plus room ,couldn't find any plus, stayed in blackpool village hotel weeks earlier, which was abit better but the warrington hotels standards are terrible, sink blocked, will not use this hotel chain again will try other hotels.

Review 44:No awful services no towel dirty. Staff rude!!!!

Review 45:Bar staff very rude and ignored us after waiting to be served. A couple came up to the bar and the young girl served them and still ignored us then continued to serve other people when I said something I was told to wait my turn. Don't see how I need to wait my turn when there was no else stood at the bar apart from my self and partner when we got there. The Leisure centre was very dirty and a few thing broken. Stayed in the upper deck 334 room was like an ice book after reporting it to be told leave it on 20oc the room was still like a ice book later that night. Had to ring for towel as none in the room. I have stayed here loads of time and will never stay again!!!!!

Review 46:Rude bar staff and night manager. The small overpriced room even though it was supposed to be a superior room. It was shabby.Breakfast was basic and tables left dirty.I have stayed in nicer places for a cheaper price.

Review 47:Suppose i would have got a room with a better outlook if the hotel wasn't busy...but the room was fab and i was only there for one night on this occasion

Review 48:Staff organised a different room for me without fuss Modern comfy room with great facilities No need for a cooked breakfast as the Starbucks cafe sold porridge!

Review 49:One pillow on the bed each, the pub area full of locals drinking, little bit rowdy and loud. Avoided dining in the village because of this.

Review 50:Location & cleanliness. Staff .

Review 51:Unclean room. Asked to be re cleaned. Not to satisfaction. Moved bed to get my earring I dropped and found a nappy Dirty surfaces and food left on floor. Dust on surfaces where clothes where to be put. Phone not working and TV didn't have channels that where advertised

Review 52:Unfortunately i was dissapointed with my stay . I have stayed at other village hotesls and all ok but the standards here were very poor and will not stay here again.

Review 53:Nothing.

Review 54:Couldn't stay longer.

Review 55:Everything about this hotel is amazing the staff the food the rooms. Couldn't of asked for anything more from are stay. We stayed for are anneversary they pulled out all the stops to make it a special one. Thanks again to all at the village Warrington. Can't wait to return.

Review 56:Terrible telly in the superior room. Very user unfriendly. A very stupid system that's virtually impossible to turn on. I had to put my clothes on and go and get staff to do it. Even they struggled whilst admitting that they often get called by guests who can't turn it on. Whoever ordered this complicated user-unfriendly system should be sacked.

Review 57:Wonderful comfortable bed

Review 58:We could hear the people in the next room, as in just a casual conversation. Soundproof needs improving?

Review 59:Modern, clean room and friendly staff. The bed was really comfortable!

Review 60:Service in bar area slow Bar Prices a little high

Review 61:Room excellent Late Check out Room ready on arrival Staff Day and Night very friendly and helpful Leisure facilities great including spa

Review 62:No mattress/pillow protectors, hair on inside of pillows, disabled room - bathroom was wet the entire stay.

Review 63:Location, comfortable beds, power shower,

Review 64:A bit dark in the rooms and sadly there was a wedding party on with loud dance music til early hours of the morning.

Review 65:Great breakfast. Loved the spa facilities. Friendly staff.

Review 66:apparently the hotel is organising weddings all the time! there was a lot of noise until 2am,then people talking on the halls, very noisy. I tried to call the reception, but no answer, so I have to go in person to complain. In the morning the waiting time for breakfast was more than 10 minutes. The furniture in the rooms loos very old, same in bathroom. I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel!

Review 67:the room was big enough for 4 people.

Review 68:Important light-bulb not working, also not replaced when reported! TV reception diabolical, also reported! Dirty smoked glass under TV! Only two small pillows! No seating room for breakfast!. I could go on, but why bother, we will not be returning ever!

Review 69:Room wasn'tclean enough - dusty and tatty Lots of things broken or not working. Breakfast was very busy but tables notcleared away fast enough to accomodate guests.

Review 70:Staff were great happy to help

Review 71:Nothing really all good

Review 72:Staff were extra attentive and helpful at all times. I dined alone and the restaurant manager even brought me a magazine to read as I was staring into space with no one to talk to. I didn't ask him he just have noticed that I was alone. I really appreciated that.

Review 73:Wifi was poor, and it was quite noisy on the aisle (guests were shouting and the soundproof wasn't great).

Review 74:Good environment and design. Very good location since we were driving from London to Lake district and it is great place to stop for night stay.

Review 75:The Starbucks coffee inside of the hotel didn't open until after 8am on Saturday morning. I had to leave by 7.30a and was looking forward to the coffee. Minor disappointment.

Review 76:Enjoyable stay at the hotel, I wished I had more time to explore. The staff were helpful and one individual early Saturday morning was beyond helpful, taking care of his guest.

Review 77:Stayed for 2 nights staff were friendly and helpful, my wife and I made use of the spa which was very reasonably priced. Food was excellent and overall was a very enjoyable stay at the urban village resort, would definitely recommend to a friend.

Review 78:Breakfast was a bit of a disaster but that was mainly due to a fire alarm, although we weren't told what options were available

Review 79:Staff were amazing reception and bar staff particularly.

Review 80:Too much noise in pool on Saturday morning because of lessons. I was not that bothered but my mother was!

Review 81:Comfort; cleanliness; welcome at reception; readiness to help and provide extra pillows and deliver bar meals to room; breakfast; shower and bath; pool and changing area; and great value for money. (We were mother and pregnant daughter - not 'mature couple' but that choice not on the multiple choice list.)

Review 82:Room was a bit dark. Breakfast was too busy, food kept running out so big que, someone stole are table when we went to get food and waitress seating us was very abrupt about re-seatin us. Stayed at better Village Hotles before.

Review 83:Reception staff lovely very helpful. We stayed for a wedding and had a great time.

Review 84:The fact we couldn't extend our stay on the same rate - it more than doubled to stay longer. We'd stayed for 14days in total and would have stayed longer. Didn't rate the bar area for food - very tired and dated.

Review 85:Location and breakfast and the price. Liked the Starbucks coffee shop. Staff all very nice. Great gym facilities plus great pool.

Review 86:hotel in need of modernaisation.Do not like £3.00 surcharge for room service.Overaqll food and rink epesnive. Breakfasts no better tha premier inn budget hotel standard.

Review 87:location,wifi,and spa facilities

Review 88:My first impression was the decor is very dark, the reception area needs to be more inviting , starbucks is a cop out by the hotel, expensive drinks and limited assortment of snacks, starbucks is for the high street not a hotel,

Review 89:Comfortable room, friendly staff,

Review 90:Service at breakfast poor due to not having food etc ready at 10.15 am. Table had dirty plate left on which was still left when waiter brought tea/coffee

Review 91:Our room was next to aircon units which were noisy at night. We stayed for 10 nights so would have enjoyed our stay more apart from this.

Review 92:Gym and pool facilities. Good location and very good breakfast.

Review 93:arriving. - No reception on TV, One of the worst beds we have ever slept in, Breakfast, using cold plates to put luke warm food on can only result in a very cold English breakfast, had to use two napkins to remove the grease from the food, unable to complain to anybody even though the waiters new that our table and adjoining table wanted to complain. Will never visit again.

Review 94:The time I left

Review 95:Decor throughout hotel rather dark, especially in bedrooms and Verve Grill Area. Television screen quality very bad in room 248, not sure if this was same for everybody. Very hard to watch a film! A few 'specials' in restaurant may have tempted us to stay in hotel.

Review 96:Location - near to Stockton Heath - restaurants, shops, bars etc. Swimming pool good. Patio area nice when weather good. Nice large rooms.

Review 97:service at dinner not good not enough staff in the restaurant wrong starter for my wife had to ask two times for a ice bucket and water the lady waiter new it was not good when I went to pay without me asking she gave me discount I do not need discount I just want what I ask for You need more staff in the restaurant!! Kind regards. Ray Clark

Review 98:Location was very good

Review 99:No channels on tv wifi didn't reach to the room paid £100 poor value for money no I pod docking station

Review 100:The staff were pleasant the breakfast was nice

Review 101:couple either above or next door very noisy which resulted in us not sleeping. The sink would not drain on the day we were checking out which was very disappointing

Review 102:The hotel and staff very friendly brilliant breakfast

Review 103:The mattress was lumpy and deformed Only one towel in our double room? Most eating areas were dark most to dark to eat

Review 104:The whole environment was relaxing and you didn't reise you were in the city center

Review 105:It's not a dislike but the hotel does appear 'dark' in the rooms as no ceiling light, not much other light plus the dark furniture. This also goes for the other hotel areas like bar, corridors etc.

Review 106:For the first time we were able to afford the Village and were very impressed. If only we could secure this excellent rate more often!!

Review 107:The superior room was poor value for the cost. The handle on the front door was broken as was the shower head the lighting was too low/dark and the TV didn't work properly. Not worth the money.

Review 108:Staff were amazing and accommodating.

Review 109:The WiFi was a really poor signal in our room. Maybe more info on where the leisure activitys are and what classes are on. Meals more competitive with local restaurants thought hotel was pricey had the sane mess across road and saved alot of money.

Review 110:The pool was quite big and the changing rooms breakfast was really good quality aswell

Review 111:Dissapointed that we had to pay £5 each to access health centre, this was only mentioned on my confirmation email. Hotel was fully booked and there was not enough staff to serve and keep bar and breakfast lounge clean and organised. Only 1 plug in the room so had to move kettle to bedsite table and unplug phone charger. No sign of iPod docking station as mentioned in description. This was not an issue but I like true facts! For £26 more we are staying at Hilton in centre Manchester next weekend, with access to Executive Lounge!

Review 112:Comfortable, modern rooms. Pleasant staff Free parking

Review 113:TV and wifi were poor

Review 114:Friendly staff and a lot of thought has gone into the quality of the design and fittings... even down to them using nice bricks and hidden touches like a heated mirror in the bathroom. V good

Review 115:There was inadequate storage for things in room. Air conditioning did not work but hotel changed rooms for us which was great.

Review 116:Staff attitudes and service. Bed comfort.

Review 117:Nothing!

Review 118:Upgrade as we were staying for 12 days all up. Swimming pool and Gym brilliant. Close to CBD. Staff fantastic, young professionals with big smiles. Our first room had issues with both the phone and the aircon. No problem we were given a new room straight away. Well do guys.

Review 119:So much better than last time we stayed here. Although they were very busy they went out of their way to deliver a high standard of professional service.

Review 120:Air con not working when room was really hot , I rang reception for use of a fan which was provided but only position to place the fan meant no benefit from it resulting in not being able to sleep because of heat and back ground noise of fan , not asked when leaving if any problems during stay just a goodbye

Review 121:Staff polite

Review 122:The rooms were very dark due to the choice of decor and the lights weren't that great to counteract this. We only had one set of towels in our room on our arrival. We also had to ask for a second pillow each and the duvet did not fit the cover so this had to be attended to. The Starbucks closed very early which we felt did not serve the hotel well, especially if we wished to buy a tasty treat to have in our room - as no biscuits were provided with the tea/coffee facilities. Hotel guests would make greater use of Starbucks in the evenings when they return from a days work or sightseeing.

Review 123:Having breakfast included was a huge bonus and was delicious. We could have used the pool and other leisure facilities but we chose not to as it was just a short break.

Review 124:The staff at the front desk were really lovely and helpful. I'd made a mistake on my booking and they managed to find me another room ASAP on the day

Review 125:small room small window, rubbish wi fi, noise in the room from the gym below, tv poor choice and terrible picture despite complaining. A joke at £105 never again

Review 126:All the staff were polite, friendly and professional. I was impressed with the service they all provdied. From the reception ladies, the bar staff, starbucks staff, restaurant staff and the conference centre staff. The room service food was delicious.

Review 127:Air condition did not work in room so first night was not good as it was very warm in room, TV was not working also and issue with the electrics. On the second night ood in restaurant was mixed up and meant that we had to wait over an hour for our dinner although we were moved room for the second night and the food when it arrived was excellent I thought that we could and should have been offered some sort of compensation either for room from first night or the issue with the food in the restaurant we are not the type of people to complain but you should not have to complain to be offered some sort of compensation e.g. Offer upgrade of room for second night or a deduction in cost of meal. As I have stated staff did sort the issues but surely the room should have been inspected before our arrival

Review 128:The staff were very helpful with any issues that were raised and the food in restaurant was excellent

Review 129:Couldnt afford to eat in resteraunt and pub was full of loud drinkers with loud music, so tried the Eating Inn and was told 30min wait, waited 40min then asked to be seated as we had a young baby, only to be told another hour (not hotel fault) Spa treatments didn't seem thorough enough for them money

Review 130:Breakfast Pool and connected facilities

Review 131:Room decor was awful. To dark!! Windows that had safety locks on them unable to open causing room to be very hot. Paying 5 deposit just for a locker who carries money down to the gym facilities and swimming pool when there staying at the hotel.

Review 132:Impressed from the outside exterior Spa facilities, breakfast was good!!

Review 133:I loved everything about this hotel I cannot fault it. The staff were very friendly and hepful, the breakfast was to die for and the facilities were amazing. I will be staying here again. Thank you village Warrington for an excellent stay!

Review 134:The lighting was poor in the room. It was controlled by dimmer switches but wasn't very bright.

Review 135:The excellent location and décor, comfy bed, very clean.

Review 136:our bedroom window was full of dust and cobwebs....clearly not had a good wipe for a few months

Review 137:handy for us visiting family, staff, breakfast and facilities excellent

Review 138:through noise from other rooms, could hear television, voices and others using the bathhroom facilities

Review 139:location easy to find and more than sufficient parking
