Reviews for Emmet Hotel

Review 1:Bathroom badly need refurbishment. No toilet brush cracked tiles and very old grouting around shower and wooden panel around bath need replacing.

Review 2:Staff were friendly. Room was warm and clean

Review 3:at the time of our stay the hotel was in the process of refurbishment, there was continual banging of doors, seemed little thought on part of workmen to guests.

Review 4:central location in the town. easy to park in the square at the time of our visit, but I would suspect there could be problems at certain times. Nice bar area which served reasonable food

Review 5:This Hotel is very nicely located in a Georgian Square just off the Main Street in Clonakilty, with first class Irish music availably every night in various pubs in the town. Heaven !

Review 6:Being told that we could only stay for 1 day as we booked for 2days the staff were very helpful but did not want to stay across the square in an overflo house.

Review 7:The beds, the pillows and the duvet. Even if they just changed the pillows and duvet. I'm 5'3'' and the bed was quite short for me!

Review 8:Great location. Friendly staff. Clean and nicely decorated. Very good value.

Review 9:the hotel didn't fulfil the requirement and treated me like cattle , too expensive , noisy ( night club is open next door to you ! ) the room was a twin and nobody slept in for a little while so it was a bit smelly . lights were insufficient, no breakfast !! Honestly I wonder why I stayed there the just rip you off !!

Review 10:I like the village

Review 11:WiFi only in public areas; No air conditioning and bedroom windows opened over kitchen ventilation system so on hot days (warm really, it's Ireland) the bedroom smelt heavily of cooking oil.

Review 12:Location, staff, parking, lounge food quality and service

Review 13:Room was a fire trap. No way this hotel should be allowed charge full price for a small double room with no window. An absolute disgrace. These people should be ashamed of themselves. A velux window in the roof that allows light stream in from 6:30. and a disco on saturday night that is so loud it may as well be in the room. 137 euro for that???? disgraceful

Review 14:Barman was a good craic

Review 15:The room was small and the only window was a velux about 18 feet up. This was a health and safety issue no other way out of room only room door. Noisy disco

Review 16:Location Friendly staff

Review 17:no information pack in bedroom ..ie..local Dr, menus, no iron or hairdryer

Review 18:lovely quiet location off the main street, free parking right outside, friendly staff. easily accessible to near by attractions, good value for money when booked in advance ...food in hotel reasonably priced and very nice

Review 19:Night club underneath very noisy at week end. We had dinner in the bar, the main barman was very old fashioned "sexist" and abrupt which was a pity as the rest of staff were lovely.

Review 20:Lovely clean spacious room for 4 people. The square in front of hotel is very quaint and you can park your car there. You are at the heart of the town and are within walking distance of bars shops and restaurants.

Review 21:Not aware that a disco is held on the premises still ongoing at 02.30am!! Bouncer on hotel door asked us which room we were staying in, luckily we had been to a wedding and returned to the hotel very late at night at 02.45 am and hotel disco still going

Review 22:Lovely room overlooking the square, great breakfast. Staff very pleasant

Review 23:The room had a large skylight in the centre which did not have a blind therefore it was very bright at 6am in the morning which made sleeping impossible.

Review 24:The gentleman on Reception was very pleasant both on check-in and departure.

Review 25:Only complaint was rooms extremely warm even with heating turned to minimum and blankets very heavy, summer blankets in wardrobe as a choice would be good.

Review 26:Lovely welcoming staff, great atmosphere with nicely decorated rooms. Boutique hotel but has kept it's irish charm.

Review 27:Was placed over the night club with two small children with us, no one got any sleep after coming from far away and on a long time change.

Review 28:Not much to say, wifi only worked downstairs, beds were not very comfortable, very loud at night.

Review 29:Dinner at the hotel bar was outstanding. I had hake, it was wonderful, if you like fish try it! Bedroom was very attractive, bathroom needed a bit of attention.

Review 30:Nothing to complain about.

Review 31:Staff was great from the time we checked in. It is nice to stay at place where the staff is helpful and friendly. I recommend this hotel.

Review 32:The first class customer service from all staff. The food in the bar was excellent and good value. Breakfast was included in the price and again was excellent.

Review 33:The rooms are from the 80's and the curtain didn't cover the complete window. A bit work would raise the standard hugely.

Review 34:The staff were very friendly and the location was good.

Review 35:A key holding service would be benifical

Review 36:The decor is funky and up to date. It suits a wide range of of tastes. The staff were lovely and the rooms were clean and warm. Would stay again

Review 37:Didn't like how had no car park and you had to park on the street.

Review 38:like the food it was very tasty and the room was lovely only fault the bed was too short

Review 39:The staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel was very clean and very tastefully decorated. The bar had a lovely ambiance and the decor was lovely. The menu was excellent and they had some decent wine. Breakfast was great. Would definitely recommend the Emmet Hotel for a stay and we will be back.

Review 40:The bar man Timmy was very helpfull and good Craic too. I'm was only down from adare in limerick but always good to meet a bit of banter too in quiet periods

Review 41:A discreet screen/cover required for waste depot area,as presently exposed to view from rear guest room windows.

Review 42:I found The Emmet Hotel to be in an ideal location within Clonakilty.Only literally a few minutes walk from the town's Main Street.Parking was just outside the front door and a picturesque town square dedicated to JFK is across the road. His Great Grandfather James Hickey came from Clonakilty.A statue to Michael Collins is also across the road from The Emmet Hotel. The Hotel, itself,is very clean and has good quality food. The staff are both courteous and helpful.

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:When going to Clon I always try to stay in the Emmet,,, the standards are always high,,,as they were again on my recent visit,,,, freshly cooked breakfast to order sitting in the sun filled room, reading the complimentary newpaper, being served by good humoured staff , what more ? ?

Review 45:My room could do with a lick of paint as there were scrapes on the walls and furniture.

Review 46:The decor and the bar. It is situated in a quiet square off the main street where Michael Collins once lived.

Review 47:Our room was directly over a disco on sat night and with two young children it was a nightmare until after 4am because of the people out in the street afterwards. There were stones thrown at the windows twice. I accept that we were told about this when we checked on Fri night but at that stage it was too late. We were also told that they would try to find another room but it didn't happen The room hadn't been used for a while also because the beds were damp and there was a mouldy smell from the bathroom. Only two of four lights worked and there wasn't any heating or radiators in the room, though we did get two portable heaters after contacting reception. No phone, hairdryer or iron in the room either. I accept that it was a busy weekend and that all the rooms were booked but this room should never have been allocated as a family room especially young children and at €320 for two nights it certainly wasn't cheap.

Review 48:Staff very friendly and helpful. Good location in nice part of town. Breakfast was good and served with a friendly smile. I'm recommending it to others simply because the notice board contained lots of positive unsolicited feedback and I would say that it's normally a good place to stay but our experience left a poor impression.

Review 49:No lift or ground floor rooms.

Review 50:Great location with free and safe parking on the street or in the square. WiFi was also included in the price. Meals were excellent as we're the staff's friendliness and helpfulness. There was also a great street nO available.

Review 51:I have very little negative things to say. Would like fresh fruit at breakfast.

Review 52:We as a mature couple stayed one night bed and breakfast. The ambiance was friendly and welcoming. Charming decor. The bedroom was tastefully decorated, and bed very comfortable, The hotel had great character with its historical references. the staff very friendly. location good. Hope to return.

Review 53:We stayed at the hotel guest house across the square. Ideal for the weekend because the hotel has a nightclub, may not be clear to all when booking. Overall, a pleasant experience and we would definitely recommend!

Review 54:Room over disco night club(noise) Too warm. 13 tog duvet in July ! No hair dryer(had to ask for one. A bit basic

Review 55:Room was fresh and clean and tastefully decorated. Housekeeping was very helpful.

Review 56:No mention of Sunday nightclub on the website. Was told I was in the 'quietest' room in the hotel with respect to the nightclub while I could see the guests going in and coming out to the smoking area beneath my window. Terrible quality of sleep. Arrived a day early to work the next day and had maybe 3 hours sleep. Breakfast left much to be desired, no fruit as advertised.

Review 57:Spacious room. Well located.

Review 58:There is a nightclub onto the hotel. At 2 am there was a singsong under my room and outside my window. I parked close to the hotel and when I looked out the window at 2.05am there were people sitting on my car.

Review 59:I like the location and how clean the hotel was.

Review 110:Very noisy corridors

Review 111:Location, free parking, very good food.

Review 112:staff some few and non existent

Review 113:place to lay my head for the night

Review 114:Small children screaming in the corridor after midnight, encouraged by adults.

Review 115:Comfortable room at a reasonable price. Good breakfast

Review 116:The room was very poor! You could hear through the walls. Desparate need of updating!!! And the nightclub.....i think has no sound proofing
