Reviews for The White Hart Hotel Lincoln
Review 1:we paid a lot of money for a suite because it was my wife's birthday after settling in the room I went to the bathroom the toilet didn't work and there was black hair all over splash marks on the mirror from people cleaning their teeth we told reception they check the room and said this is not acceptable and moved are room breakfast was terrible bacon and sausage were like cardboard the table was sticky we told the waiter he said all the tables were the same not at all what we would expect from a hotel that charge this amount I think the cleanliness issue definitely needs addressing as you know we book a lot of rooms through booking.com so I hope you address my issues
Review 2:The location
Review 3:nothing
Review 4:My family are from Lincoln, I have moved away but we occasionally check in to the white hart for a treat as we love this hotel and the location in the Bail is lovely. The rooms are very clean and the food in the restaurant is extremely good.
Review 5:The plumbing was slightly dodgy, the toilets struggled to flush properly. The waiter was a little rude / looked inconvienced when I requested gluten free bread toasted.
Review 6:Receptionist was brilliant - very helpful and lovely. Helped with early check in and couldnt do enough. An assett to your team!
Review 7:The hotel rooms have a strong need of an overhaul. The included breakfast is very basic, although you can order a few extras from the menu.
Review 8:Right between the Castle and the Cathedral, this is THE location for visiting Lincoln. Free hotel car park across the road from the hotel.
Review 9:We thought the staff in the restaurant were very sullen. It was like they wished they were not there. Maybe because they were working over Xmas but at a joyous time they all looked miserable and acted miserably
Review 10:Cleanliness. Comfy beds. Good shower. Nice breakfast
Review 11:The building was full of character but badly in need of renovation. The level of cleanliness was poor - the table where we sat for breakfast was sticky and clearly hadn't been wiped down and the bathroom in our room was not very clean.
Review 12:The location is superb - right in the middle of the old town.
Review 13:The radiator in my room never came on at all so it was chilly when I went back later
Review 14:Great location in historic Lincoln. Plenty of pubs and places to eat nearby. An extra bonus of the cathedral bells in the morning to wake to
Review 15:Customer service was relatively poor. Quite a few new inexperienced staff at breakfast. Not very accommodating receptionist on check in. Very noisy outside as the hotel is located on a busy street. Definitely wouldn't recommend staying there in warmer months.
Review 16:Close to the Cathedral. The hotel has it's own car park across the road which is handy.
Review 17:Dirty sheets when we pulled the sheets back on the bed... Very questionable stains on the sheets. We were moved immediately and the staff were great
Review 18:Great location
Review 19:Bathroom was not clean and bedroom carpet had not been vacuumed. Breakfast was not good. Shame because we stay at this hotel each year but the standards appear to be slipping.
Review 20:Great Location
Review 21:We stayed on Christmas Day. The bar waitress was not experienced. Everything was too much trouble. The tills had been cashed up by 10pm. We weren't able to have cocktails after 10.50. We couldn't have a coffee or tea. No one was in the Christmas spirit. After going to the room and having a bath. I walked to the bed and my feet were extremely dirty from the floor. Not impressed at all. Won't be staying again
Review 22:Very noisy, music/noise from the bar and function room could still be heard in our bedroom on the 3rd floor after being moved from a room on the 2nd floor due to the noise late at night
Review 23:Please consider butter in a dish for breakfast rather than the little packets.
Review 24:Comfortably spacious room and bathroom though we did not have a view as others in our party did. We loved staying in the heart of Lincoln, right by the cathedral and the castle, and the food at the reception was delicious. Thank you to the staff who unostentatiously made our stay comfortable and who returned my handbag to me when it was dropped in the car park!
Review 25:Very noisy. All through the night hearing footsteps and the lift and other peoples conversation. No sleep. Uncomfortable bed. Staff showed no interested. No safe parking.
Review 26:Good breakfast included. Handy location but noisy busy street until 4am.
Review 27:Room very very dated, awful bathroom not what I'd expect for the money, Expected something more high end from the pictures online
Review 28:Perfect location in the heart of Lincoln across from the cathedral, Building is pretty with stylist bar area as you enter, Comfy bed in the room
Review 29:Poor dining experience, two main meal choices not available, salmon was dry, luke warm with not much sauce. Staff didn't clear table of unused glasses, side plates, and the bread and dip starter was dumped in front of me rather than centre table. Expensive.
Review 30:Convenient for town centre, quirky rooms and corridors.
Review 31:As a resident I would have expected to be able to book a table for dinner but was informed they were full. Four couples travelled and we had to go elsewhere to eat
Review 32:Great location ,good food,
Review 33:Long way to the room, corridor in darkness, although on my own no help with directions/bags. Went to bar on my own sat quietly having drink, asked to move somewhere else as they wanted my table, there was no where else to sit, felt very insulted as paid good money for a drink, so left, won't stay again
Review 34:Nothing
Review 35:For the price I wouldn't criticise anything
Review 36:Perfect location to see Lincoln or enjoy the evening pubs and stuff. Super staff and old world charm but very clean in room and throughout. Very good value.
Review 37:Couldn't open windows, and car parking was horrendous - actually feared I was going to get broadsided. Resident parking was poor and couldn't fit into the car park when I returned later. Had to park 15 mins walk away as there was no other space... Think there was an issue with a wedding party at the hotel.
Review 38:Lovely room, good breakfast, all the things you would expect. Smashing building with impressive facilities on site such as restaurant etc and location is the finest for a visit to Lincoln...
Review 39:Quite a bit if street noise both at night and early morning with the street cleaners, delivery trucks etc but probably depends on room location. .
Review 40:excellent location for the cathedral and castle and the cafes and restaurants in the historic town. wide choice of breakfats options from the menu, free secure parking.
Review 41:A little overpriced for an overnight stay and we had to pay for breakfast on top of the cost. They could include it in the price.
Review 42:Fabulous location and very friendly staff!
Review 43:Rooms were so hot and unable to open any windows and no air conditioning it felt very claustrophobic sleep was extremely poor, also noone told us there was loud music till late in the night/early morning.
Review 44:Location was excellent
Review 45:Staff very helpful and breakfast delicious. Bed extremely comfortable and cot perfect we especially liked the added touch of a turned down sheet in the cot. Just fabulous!
Review 46:The restaurant for breakfast had poor service, the staff were young and appeared inexperienced and there was no apparent supervision. The table we were seated at was dirty and sticky and did not appear to have been cleaned for a while.
Review 47:Good location. Good size rooms. Comfortable and very clean
Review 48:Bar area little bit like a waiting room. Room was not easy to find, lots of stairs.
Review 49:Location. Room crisp and clean with fabulous view. Friendly staff.
Review 50:Public areas were noisy, music a bit loud forcing one to shout. Lack of lift to our floor (3rd), but a porter service dealt with the bags
Review 51:Charming staff on door, excellent food, mostly good WiFi. Great maze to get lost in on returning from one's room Historical names and dates written on the room doors was fun
Review 52:Situated in a excellent position right by the castle and cathedral short walk to town didn't mind the steep ,enjoyed our stay lovely hotel and good food .
Review 53:Nothing really although the mixture of refurbished modernity and untouched original features was a bit weird.
Review 54:The location is fantastic- right next to cathedral and castle and a plethora of pubs, cafes and restaurants on the doorstep.
Review 55:Bathroom ancient with toilet flush that is no more than a trickle. Windows don't open properly, mattress old and squishy and lots of stairs throughout that make travelling with a pram or wheelchair nearly impossible. Not worth the extreme room price!!
Review 56:Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 57:We had a room at the front of the hotel, in the evening it was very noisy and with people being allowed to smoke by the front doors meant we had to keep the window closed.
Review 58:Location and free car park.
Review 59:The location was perfect. Free parking a great asset. Breakfast included in the room rate was superb good quality ingredients and choice. Good sized room comfortable beds. Pleasant staff in general.
Review 60:Tables close together in the resturant. Had to book into main resturant as the bar wasn't serving food on a Saturday. Draughty in the resturant due to none resident diners coming in straight from the street.
Review 61:Good sized room and bed for a single room Very clean and staff very approachable. Excellent cooked breakfast.
Review 62:Loved the fact that we were central to the Castle, cathedral and museum. liked the quirky corridors etc. much more interesting than your average hotel.
Review 63:There isn't a comfortable lounge - the bar area was quite busy and noisy in the evening.
Review 64:Superb location, clean and spacious rooms at a great price. Quality of food, both in the bar and at breakfast was first rate.
Review 65:There was a step from bedroom to bathroom with no warning or white lines I fell down this step was ok but could have sprained my ankle also staff a bit grumpy
Review 66:Well positioned good car parking clean room
Review 67:Sticky tables at breakfast. You need to change your spray or weekly clean the tables with a hot water wash. Restaurant staff need a little more training in politeness!
Review 68:Location
Review 69:The staff were efficient but lacked warmth. There was no welcome and we felt like a commodity rather than a valued guest.
Review 70:Good Location. Spacious room.
Review 71:Waiting staff friendly but sometimes more matey than professional.
Review 72:Hotel is only steps away from castle and cathedral. Terrific view of floodlit cathedral from room 351. Great Bloody Marys from the bar, good breakfasts included in room rate.
Review 73:Dinner restaurant staff not attentive enough - although they were friendly. En Suite very tatty. Bedlinen didn't smell clean.
Review 74:Reception & cleaning staff very nice and welcoming. Evening food was excellent.
Review 75:Very disappointed. Nice room but the heating wasn't on & it was cold. Two lights didn't work in the room. Awful uncomfortable furnishings in bar area and no carpet! Residents lounge also lacking comfort. Breakfast ok but in awful bistro styled, glass roofed room with tatty scratched tables and staff who didn't smile.
Review 76:The location is great for exploring the lovely top end of Lincoln city.
Review 77:I thought the dining area lacked character. tablecloths would be an improve for breakfast . and better selection of fruit.
Review 78:the position and the wonderful parking.
Review 79:The White Hart was the first hotel we stayed in together. Nearly 19 years later I planned a surprise trip for my wife on our wedding anniversary. We loved it and the stay brought back many happy memories for us both. The hotel was good, we had a lovely room, and the location is second to none being near the cathedral and the castle in the heart of the old quarter. We intend to go back soon and not leave it another 19 years.
Review 80:Although the radiators in our room were off, it was somehow insufferably hot and stuffy during the night (and this was in November). A case for air-conditioning - or windows that can actually be opened.
Review 81:The hotel nicely combined interesting, traditional features with a modern sense of style. Its location in the heart of the old city couldn't have been better.
Review 82:Restaurant is uncomfortable and not in keeping with the age and character of the building.Food is over priced. Breakfast is served on shabby wooden table tops-where are the cloths? Ridiculous rectangular plates that do not fit on the tables and on which the food is spaced out as to look ridiculous
Review 83:Very warm and comfortable room. Excellent position spaced out
Review 84:lack of clarity re breakfast menu - but it was promptly addressed by the member of staff.
Review 85:good sized comfortable room welcoming, professional staff who anticipated and prepared for changes eg dietary alternatives, guest's unusual parking problem sense of being valued as a guest
Review 86:When booking a meal for the evening we were told they were fully booked. After some negotiation we were able to reserve a table early in the evening. It was of great surprise later during the evening the restaurant was far from fully booked. Only four or five tables were occupied in the restaurant.
Review 87:The room and view were amazing. The service was very good.
Review 88:Initial welcome was good. Room was nice and comfortable. Had all facilities needed in a room. Wifi throughout hotel was good. Hotel, and rooms, had character.
Review 89:There was a function taking place on the night of our stay with a Disco etc. while late, and the room was located just above. For a price of £130 we thought there would have been a room further away or reduction in price paid.
Review 90:Location to Cathedral Quarter.
Review 91:Stayed here for a charity ball held in the function room. Dinner service was very slow and a bit of a shambles.
Review 92:The view of lincoln cathedral from the bedroom.
Review 93:Some of the breakfast was poor quality i.e. fruit juices were not fresh, they were full of sugar and cheap. The restaurant looked tired and shabby compared to the suite we had and the main bar area. The staff on the front desk were some what unefficient, no hotel information offered by them on arrival, not as attentive as hotels of the same standard in london or abroad.
Review 94:The room was excellent and decorated to a high standard.
Review 95:Boiler noise going on after midnite had to ring desk, bottle emtying from bar woke us at 6am bed uncomfortable breakfast room souless would have felt more at home in a morgue .
Review 96:Good location
Review 97:Unfortunately only one very very noisy bar in the hotel. Had to leave and find another hotel for a sociable drink with friends on Saturday evening because the hotel bar was full of very young revellers. Also constant noise through the night with people shouting and screaming in the streets below, but I suppose this is something to do with the location.
Review 98:first room given was a single with the bed along the wall and under a window - with a radiator between bed and wall...... I asked for the radiator to be turned off - as it was on - staff moved me to another room which was cooler. Unable to open windows to get breeze into room.
Review 99:helpfulness of staff
Review 100:Steep stairs to fourth floor and the car park location was good but as an inside building the decoration and general finish of the walls diod not give a good impression.
Review 101:Location and quality of food and service could not be faulted.
Review 102:There was no heat from one of the units (though staff brought up a heater) and there were no tissues, as staff told us. A great inconvenience as we needed them due to a head cold. We had to use toilet paper for runny nose. Yuck.
Review 103:The location is unbeatable. The staff are friendly and the room was delightful.
Review 104:breakfast - so we went down for breakfast one morning, as soon as we entered the restaurant. A young waitor yelled from the other side for our room number. We were then sat. Our order was taken and then had to be re taken as the waitor had forgotten it. We weren't told that we could help ourselves to the buffet. I asked for a glass of water and was given a jug. No glass, just a large jug. Our toast was completely burnt. One member of staff was loudly setting up every other table around us. Overall useless staff, we did mention this back experience on check out and the lady just apologised and she'd speak to those who served breakfast but she really did not seem to surprised by our comments.
Review 105:The rooms were spacious with a great view of the cathedral. The hotel was in a great place with great parking opposite.
Review 106:Internet in the room was almost ono-existent. Central heating did not work, so the hotel provided an electric radiator. Room decoration was past its best.
Review 107:Excellent and inexpensive restaurant. Location is perfect for seeing the sights.
Review 108:The staff were brilliant & the food was lovely. The position of the Hotel was perfect & the car park facility was just across the road.We didn't have to move the car all holiday as everything we wanted to see was so handy.
Review 109:Our room was right by the cathedral, which was a beautiful view however didn't like the bells going off at 7am it was loud!
Review 110:Lovely , clean room, great location.
Review 111:There had been a wedding party celebration during the evening and when we came in after our evening out we wanted to relax and have a drink at the bar and everywhere was a little messy.
Review 112:A smart traditional country hotel
Review 113:The wedding that was there allowed their guests children run riot. Ringing the doorbell to our room messing around on the terrace & being very noisy. The management did sort the problem out after other guests complained.
Review 114:The food was excellent & prices were good. The room was excellent.
Review 115:The clock chimes on the cathedral although good double glazing muffled sound but could still hear the bells.
Review 116:clean refurbished comfortable and spacious room
Review 117:Very poor breakfast. Poor selection of cold food and confusing pricing between cooked and cold breakfast.
Review 118:Great location close to the cathedral, shops and restaurants.
Review 119:No real quibbles at all.
Review 120:Location of hotel is brilliant, right in the middle of everything. Windows in room looked right onto the cathedral. Free secure parking a few feet from Hotel entrance is a real bonus.
Review 121:Not a bad experience, but the lack of cloths on tables etc at breakfast, on not good or attractive surfaces felt like a run down cafe. otherwise everything else was good and smart quality, so breakfast experience was disappointing. mrs Reindel.
Review 122:lift a bit creaky. Too hot - had to get window opened as fixed shut. Limited menu, which was fine for three days, but may have got boring if staying longer. Modern decor with no carpet or curtains makes main bar and part of restaurant noisy when full.
Review 123:Good central location, easy, free parking, plenty of attentive staff, comfy rooms, good food and plenty of public space
Review 124:Old-established hotel near Lincoln Cathedral and Castle in the ancient heart of the City. Room comfortable, double-glazed windows overlooking the street, lift to upper floors, food excellent and staff friendly and helpful.
Review 125:Service at breakfast was a little slow and the 'continental' table not replenished even with an hour still to go.
Review 126:Lovely view from room (352). All the extras in the bedroom. Free parking
Review 127:Poor breakfast. Surly unhelpful staff. Poor choice and not much on the buffet selection. I prefer a hot buffet too so you can select what you like.
Review 128:Friendly reception and bar staff. Fab cocktails and brilliant location with free parking.
Review 129:Extractor fan in the shower didn't work resulting in the windows steaming up and a damp feel to the room. I would use this Hotel again I don't think my friend would.
Review 130:An ideal location between the Castle & the Cathedral,
Review 131:We werent told clearly about private exec lounge available to us - stayed on Sat night town and hotel busy with party bar rowdy and packed with students graduation party. Also on arrival for afternoon tea -- so around 10.30pm other people staying were out on doorstep moaning too about it - if only we'd known about lounge!!! Otherwise great!! Late noise was kept down well tho
Review 132:Restaurant/food fanastic - helpful staff - en suite room lovely spacious nice decor - nice hotel
Review 133:Room was clean and spacious. Very good choices for breakfast which was scrumptious. Evening restaurant meal was very good; but restaurant lacked ambience. Restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Both in the morning and evening.
Review 134:Pigeon droppings on car, but we understand that the situation is not easily remedied.
Review 135:Friendly and helpful staff. Free car park on the spot. Could not better the location for Cathedral, Castle, etc.
Review 136:I am not sure the bathroom was cleaned as well as it could have been. Floor collected hair/dust over 4 nights and on one occasion the bathroom bin was not emptied.
Review 137:Excellent location, comfortable room, pleasant breakfast room, friendly and helpful staff, quirky corridors!
