Reviews for Patten Arms Hotel
Review 1:See the above box very bad stay at this hotel avoid at all costs
Review 2:The room was cold no hot water to have a shower with handle missing of wardrobe foof that I ordered was sent to me stone cold did tell a member of staff they were not interested told the manager in the morning when I went to pay for my room and he said nothing and charged me full price would not recommend this hotel to anybody
Review 3:Decor a little dated but couldn't fault the cleanliness of the room etc.
Review 4:Felt secure as a solo female traveller and made to feel welcome. Perfect location for when I arrived at the Warrington Quays station late at night as the Hotel is right opposite. Good value.
Review 5:My room was very old, almost dilapidated. Parts of the hotel were in need of total refurbishment. I do not mean a coat of paint; I mean total refurbishment.
Review 6:Fantastically convenient location. Extremely helpful staff. Good price. Nice breakfast.
Review 7:Very tired property and pretty basic. Very creaky floors.
Review 8:Did the job as it was in a good location for our needs (close to the Christmas party venue and the station). Good breakfast.
Review 9:very friendly staff who went out of their way to help, one of the girls even lent me a phone charger which was very much appreciated, very good value and the breakfast was ten out of ten.
Review 10:We booked a triple room. The room was freezing and looked like it was still in the l970s with old décor and items well passed their usage. We asked for an alternative room as the first was freezing. We were given 3 singles which were also outdated and rooms grubby but clean.
Review 11:All the staff were lovely, very friendly and very helpful especially the reception guy, the bar man and the maintenance guy as nothing was too much trouble. The bedding and towels were very clean. The bed was so comfortable, a very good nights sleep.
Review 12:No wifi that stretched to my end corridor room. Getting a bit worn and dated but clean and functional.
Review 13:Professional front desk manager. Tasty full English with cereals choice and hot toast. Bar meal the night before tasted like home. Warm. Firm bed. Quiet.
Review 14:Room was slightly stuffy as my window was painted shut (a minor inconvenience in cool weather but no doubt hellish in the summer). The whole place is a bit tired, but to be fair at these prices I wasn't expecting the Ritz ! Some street noise but it really wasn't loud enough to disturb me.
Review 15:However, location can't be beat: literally across the street from the train station, the staff are very friendly and helpful and my stay was very good value for money.
Review 16:The shower/water was freezing cold so I was forced to have a freezing shower after a long days work. I reported it to a member of staff who replied "you have to let it run for 10 minutes until it warms up. A few people have said it this week"!! This was really disappointing and was not value for money at all, I will never visit there again.
Review 17:The original room had rotten Windows, no heating and smelt of drains It was not fit for purpose and I expected Mr Rigsby to appear.
Review 18:Staff tried to make adjustments around our complaints.
Review 19:I would have liked a little more space between the foot of the bed and the wall ideally but they made good use of the space
Review 20:The bed was comfortable with good pillows. Bathroom was big, clean and modern. Breakfast was tasty.
Review 21:I was given room 1 which had two double beds and an ensuite. The room carpet was damp and the room smelled like old socks. The net curtain was dirty and torn
Review 22:The Patton Arms is ideally located beside Warrington Bank Quay Train station.
Review 23:I was in a room facing the train station which had no extra glazing to block out the noise of the main road, traffic and even the noise of the train announcer. This felt like I was actually sleeping outside.
Review 24:The hotel was very convenient for town and the Warrington Bank Quay train station. The staff were extremely helpful and whist I was travelling alone I was made welcome and felt safe. The room, whilst dated, was clean, the bed was comfortable and fresh.
Review 25:Radiator didn't work, so very c9ld at night. Room door didn't close without a good push and when I came back the first night, my door wasn't shut and I had left my laptop in the room. Luckily nothing taken and hotel sorted the door out immediately. No hairdryer in the room, you have to get one from reception.
Review 26:Breakfast was good..as was the evening meals
Review 27:Creaky floorboards; bed was a small double; dust in the corners; needs a lick of paint to do the old building justice, it does look tired.
Review 28:Good breakfast; Spacious bedroom and bathroom; excellent location to city centre; loved the old character of the building.
Review 29:I found the hotel which had once been very grand in dire need of total refurbisment. my bedroom net cutrains were torn and the chair stained
Review 30:The hotel was very covenient for the purpose of my visit. I was very impressed by the floral display outside. the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 31:My reaction to this was - "Open these door and enter hell" . Is that clear enough. Should never be 2 stars minus 10 would be not enough. Perhaps potential guests should know that the homeless are put up here which says it all. £99 was a disgrace. £9 would have been too much. It should be condemned.
Review 32:absolutely nothing.
Review 33:It's an old hotel, rooms small but ok fir one night, but bed was far too hard
Review 34:Stayed here as we were attending an event in Manchester, free parking and the train station was opposite
Review 35:Old & dated needs modernisation. Kettle didn't work. When I reported it the member of staff at reception he didn't seem interested. Insufficient milk/sugar in room, only enough for 1 cuppa had the kettle actually worked!
Review 36:Great central location with a car-park.
Review 37:As is often the case, the bedside light didn't work. No pressure in the cold water tap in the basin in the room - only a dribble!
Review 38:Convenient for Bank Quay station. Very good breakfast. Decent sized single room.
Review 39:Décor is a little out of date and needs a freshen up and the floor boards need screwing down as they are very creaky.
Review 40:The Gentleman on Reception was very friendly. Good value for money if passing through and the breakfast that I received was well cooked. Linen was very clean and well laundered.
Review 41:everything... really dirty, out dated, tv wasn't working, noisy, view from the room was on a dump (old bed, broken toilets, rubbish....)
Review 42:Close to the train station
Review 43:DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 4. Seriously, you'll regret it. Unfortunately, despite the heating being off in the room all night long, the room was like a furnace due to a series of heat pipes that run throughout the room. These pipes are permanently hot (Note: Not just warm, but HOT), making the room unbearable. This problem was made worse by the window being very small so I couldn't cool the room down. I couldn't let reception know by the time I got back to the hotel at 2am after a night out because it was shut. I had a very unpleasant and uncomfortable night with very little sleep.
Review 44:Perfectly positioned opposite Warrington Bank Quay station and a 15 minute walk into town. Be advised that there's limited services from Bank Quay on Sundays however and you'll need to walk to Central instead. The included full english breakfast was great. The staff were friendly.
Review 45:Thin walls. I could hear the man snoring, coughing and moving in and out of bed, in the room next door. No doubt he could hear me too! Squeaky floorboards in the room and in the corridor. Old fashioned.
Review 46:Free car park, breakfast included. Basic but clean.
Review 47:Poor breakfast, with cold beans was not good. The level of noise from the railways and Police Station next door went on through the night. Room lacked plug sockets (only 1 available) and wardrobe had no rail to hang clothes - I had to hang shirts and trousers over the chair back.
Review 48:Size of room was larger than the average but sparcely appointed. Bed was good and comfortable which is essential.
Review 49:The lack of available food. The missing lights and impracticality and hazardous temperature of the shower in room 29. The curtains that did not close over properly.
Review 50:The friendly, helpful, overworked, staff.
Review 51:N/A
Review 52:The location was good right across from the station and not too far from the town centre. Breakfast was good, breakfast staff were very polite and efficient.
Review 53:Needs updating, was in process of some refurbishment but our room pretty dated (but was clean).
Review 54:Friendly staff, good location for the start of the 10k run. Good cooked breakfast.
Review 55:The hotel could do with modernising and every floor board in the room squeaked
Review 56:The breakfast was nice, the rooms were basis but adequate, works to up grade the hotel was taking place while we were there but no noise could be heard
Review 57:The WiFi did not work, Hotel in need of a make over, floor boards very creaky.
Review 58:The bed was very comfortable. Very convenient for Bank Quay station, did not hear announcements. Lovely full English breakfast.
Review 59:Obviously because it's near the train station it can be a bit noisy at night because everyone heads into town. Also it would be nice for the price you pay maybe to have dinner included aswell as Breckfast.
Review 60:It is close to the train station and 10 mins walk to town. We go every year to haydock in august so we always stay in the hotel.
Review 61:Very creaky floorboards
Review 62:Staff very friendly and helpful. We had our baby and the room we were in was on the landing so we were able to put her to bed and enjoy a drink on the sofa outside our door while she settled
Review 63:The corridors leading to room are dingy and give an uncomfortable experience. I did not want to leave my room.
Review 64:The room was clean and comfortable if small.
Review 65:Getting a phone call at 11pm telling me I wouldn't be able to check in if I didnt arrive shortly. As I was travelling from Liverpool airport I could easily been delayed. What if I was a lone female traveller or travelling with kids? I had already informed them via the booking I would arrive very late so prior notice of this outdated policy would have helped.
Review 66:basic, clean, great location as I needed an early train.
Review 67:Creaky floors and the fact we didn't know there would be no complimentary soap & shower gel etc
Review 68:Perfect location for our requirements, short walk to town for shopping and close to our evening venue
Review 69:The bedroom was constantly over 30 degrees C because the hot water pipe ran right round the room and couldn't be turned off. We felt physically ill during the night at this temperature. We asked for a fan but none were available. The bathroom window was sealed shut so couldn't even have a breeze.
Review 70:Very friendly helpful staff and convenient location.
Review 71:Although the hotel is a little tired and in need of redecoration, it was clean and comfortable. The food portions were generous. It is worth noting that the car park is next to the police station!
Review 72:The shower was cold and had to use another room to have one, then after this finding out if you put the light switch on to the bathroom the water got hot. The waitress wasn't very helpful took 10 mins to get us a pot of tea after having to remind her.
Review 73:The room was spacious and comfortable. Most of the staff was friendly
Review 74:Very cramped room, but you get what you pay for
Review 75:Room was clean, and the staff were really friendly. I would stay there again for a night out in warrington
Review 76:No hair dryer, and at 8am on Sunday morning some scaffolding and repairs were being carried out on the building outside our windows!
Review 77:Bed was comfy, with an actual duvet. Everything was clean.
Review 78:The floor was very creaky it shows the age of building and was hard with a baby asleep in the room to walk around.
Review 79:Staff were extremely lovely especially girl who booked us in. Linen was very clean and room was lovely bright and airy.
Review 80:1. Smelly room, used deodorant as room freshener 2. Old style TV, on pressing remote TV responded after 15secs 3. No toiletries 4. Creaky floors and staircase 5. Free WIFI is gimmick. You dont get good signal in all areas and connection drops as well. if you are lucky guy, a simple news page will open in 5-10sec. 6. Lot of things are written in Breakfast Menu, but choices are limited. Most things you get are frozen 7. Breakfast area is also bad, torn chair cover and tablecloth 8. Flies inside the room 9. Bed headboard loose, it used to bang against wall all night 10. Its a cauldron during summer
Review 81:1. new re-modeled bathroom
Review 82:Bed wasn't particularly comfortable and decor very weary, but charmingly old-fashioned
Review 83:Lovely kitchen and waiting staff who cooked me breakfast even after the kitchen had closed officially
Review 84:Nothing really. The hotel is tired but absolutely fine
Review 85:Location-10 minutes walk to the town centre. Opposite the railway station. It serves it's own bar food
Review 86:Extremely dated accommodation with windows that were fixed solid with numerous layers of paint, a tap mixer shower that delivered intermittent temperatures of water from polar to volcanic and room temperature incredibly hot - wardrobe made me smile though as when you closed one door the other opened. Hotel wifi did not reach the room and this is a must these days when travelling on business. Very basic breakfast - pleasant waitress and cook who clearly make the best of what they are given to work with. Restaurant decor looks like it's been the same for decades and very strange high shelf units full of strange looking objects that look like they've been untouched by human hands for many years Car park very scruffy and needs attention
Review 87:Staff all seemed friendly
Review 88:Nothing.
Review 89:The staff were amazing, so helpful. We didn't manage to have the breakfast but I'm sure it'd have been lovely. Great proximity to the centre.
Review 90:Dinner took almost an hour to arrive - was informed when ordered ,that it would be delayed, but did not think it would have been that long.
Review 91:Decor a bit tired and dated, but everything worked. Bed was comfy, breakfast was good.
Review 92:No elevator so had to carry the baby up the stairs
Review 93:we needed a cot for our son and the hotel did not have the message passed on. However the guy at the reception sorted out everything for us in 5 minutes. Close to city centre. Parking available. Not expensive therefore perfect for a night.
Review 94:No complaints
Review 95:Food was better than average, the staff are polite and helpful. The location for the train and the night life are ideal and the price makes it a bargain.
Review 96:Gloriously old fashioned. I had always wanted to stay in this local landmark hotel next to Warrington Bank Quay station. The bathroom was brand new from a recent re-fit.
Review 97:VERY rude the oldman working in the reception. He simply lacks professionalism and manners. The rooms are not that clean, and the bathroom and carpet in bad condition.
Review 98:The Breakfast is awesome, rooms are warm, the location is very convenient as the Bank Quay Station is across the street and also a bus stop. Very good is also the food in the hotel(Quantity,Quality,Price).
Review 99:Our room was very noisey we were kept awake by all the outside noise also we could hear the people in the next room walking on squeaky floorboards through the night
Review 100:The staff were lovely very friendly. The location was ideal for us close to the town centre and train station
Review 101:The acting manager, Mick I think his name was(apologies if I have got your name wrong!) was really helpful. Free parking on site. Room was quiet, despite being near a station.
Review 102:On arrival, only one member of staff was one duty to check us in, prepare food and serve behind the bar, it took ages to say the least. The hotel was clean, but really does need a good revamping, the room was really dated. We didn't stay for breakfast, there was no one on reception so we just left the keys and left!!
Review 103:Train station just across the road and very near to the venue we were attending.
Review 104:I've stayed here a couple of times and it's always been pleasant. The hotel itself is quite dated so if you're looking for something fancy this probably isn't the place for you but the staff are always lovely, the free breakfast is awesome and the heating in the rooms works a charm!
Review 105:Single bed comfortable to lie on. The only negative comment that I can make is that the duvet was a bit small for it.
Review 106:Location, Friendliness of all 'All' Staff, Evening Food, Nice Room, Great Breakfast ...Really Just an enjoyable stay.
Review 107:Building should be renovated, shows its age. Small bed.
Review 108:Friendly helpful staff, good food, good room service, clean facilities. Convenient location for commutation to various places.
Review 109:The place needs a series of improvement from the simple things like fixing all the squeaky flooring throughout very annoying needs a lick of paint very dark hallway and dated rooms wouldn't take a lot to get it to a 3 star
Review 110:It's a handy location cental has free parking free WiFi although not great in bedrooms rooms were fine but dated, warm also food was fine.
Review 111:There is no Wi-Fi in my room so I could not use my laptop to do the work. Also I have to rely on my mobile data allowance over that night. I think the hotel could just buy a few routers to strengthen the signal. It wont be that expensive.
Review 112:Before my arrival, I read a few comments online some of which criticising the old facilities and breakfast in the hotel. However, I found it rather opposite since the room was spotlessly cleaned especially for the bathroom. You also have a full traditional English breakfast for free with toasts. For the amount of money I paid, I found it was really good value. Furthermore, you are 10 seconds away from the station, which is a super plus.
Review 113:nothing except floorboards on the stairs a bit creaky
Review 114:The staff are always polite and helpful , breakfast was great cooked fresh/to order, bed very comfortable, everything great
Review 115:The room was freezing, had to ask for two extra blankets ... Which is not on really when your paying nearly £40 for a room you'd expect it to have some form of heat ... Especially when it's in January
Review 116:The breakfast
Review 117:There was nothing to dislike. The hotel is what it is, a one hundred and fifty year old Cheshire, red brick building. Very much in character.
Review 118:Central location, right opposite railway station. Free car park Reasonable prices in the bar. Single room had every amenity, including, joy, a face flannel in the bathroom. Everything was spick and span and at about £40 was good value for a town centre hotel.
Review 119:Only issue was the creaking floorboards in the room...can't actually comment on the breakfast as we overslept and missed it.
Review 120:Good location, excellent staff, car park, the room was very clean and was actually very nice, was a little concerned after reading previous reviews. The bar area was good as we're the bar prices...really made to feel comfortable.Would definitely stay here again.
Review 121:A good basic hotel. Very friendly staff. The room was quiet and comfortable. The wifi worked well. The location near the center was perfect. A good choice for an economical stay in Warrington.
Review 122:Coffee was pretty cold in the morning and sometimes could hear other people in rooms but I would recommend and stay again!
Review 123:Rooms where spacious and comfortable good location opposite train station and a quick walk into town for shops and pubs lovely staff and just a great atmosphere!.. And amazing breakfast!
Review 124:The bed was rock hard. I sleep on an orthopaedic mattress at home so am used to a firm bed. The one in my room was very hard and very uncomfortable so I got very little sleep.
Review 125:Staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was very reasonably priced, freshly cooked with very generous portions and good quality. A very good pint of Guinness too.
Review 126:In need of refurbishment, madly creaking floors and dirty shower, smelling badly because of old carpets and upholstery.
Review 127:Location opposite the station, tasty coffee and comfortable bed.
Review 128:Nothing to dislike, a litle TLC required, all the bathrooms (we saw) were in 1970's Avocado green
Review 129:Location, close to the town and station. Breakfast was good Pub part of the hotel was pleasant Staff were friendly, informative and tolerant
Review 130:The Hotel is a little tired and good perhaps do with some refurbishment but in a way that was it's charm. Although as I said a bit tired it was very clean and I wasn't really put of by the slightly worn appearance.
Review 131:Friendly Staff, good location for shops and Railway Station. Good food at great prices. I would certainly stay there again.
Review 132:Air pollution generated by Unilever Warrington detergent factory
Review 133:Location - Bank Quay Railway Station, Taxi Station, Bus 329 Station to Central Warrington; the general atmosphere of the hotel; dining room & breakfast - full English!
Review 134:Was woken up early hours of the morning (5/6 ish) which sount like knocking (boiler or pipes ) didn't stop all morning till we checked out so didn't get any sleep!!
Review 135:Not enough staff, we had to wait for drinks, breakfast and to check out, and it was the same person who did it all, breakfast was very poor, everything cold and dining area needed clearing, no staff.
Review 136:The hotel perfectly located for train, town centre, and parr hall.
Review 137:Excellent location especially when travelling by train and attending an event in the Parr Hall. Decor may be a little tired, however, the hotel was warm and comfortable. Friendly staff and reasonably priced bar meals. I have no hesitation in staying at Patten Arms Hotel on future visits to Warrington.
Review 138:Yes the place is a little tired , but it was clean , hot and cold water worked and the staff were great, at that price with breakfast you cant realy moan.i would stay again !
Review 139:The whole place is a bit dated and threadbare, but having said that, what can you expect for the price.
Review 140:The hotel is located directly across the road to Warrington Bank Quay rail station, so it is great to stay here if your having a night out in Manchester. The room was clean, the breakfast was good and the room was cheap.
The Fine Print
Please note that this hotel does not have any ground floor rooms and has no lift.Due to the proximity to Warrington Bank Quay Rail Station, it is sometimes possible to hear announcements from the station.
