Reviews for Rock House
Review 1:Although reasonable price for the stay, would be nice if there were deals for more than 1 night, to make it an affordable short break.
Review 2:Very welcoming and friendly couple, gave us lots of information about the local area such as restaurants and things to do. Room very comfortable and clean, breakfast lovely. We will stay again.
Review 3:The weather!
Review 4:Breakfast was great, rooms were really comfortable and Linda was extremely accommodating. I travelled with my Mother and had booked a twin room and when we arrived Linda gave us separate rooms at no extra charge. Our last day the weather was awful and we couldn't leave ulverston until the evening, Linda allowed us to stay in our rooms all day.
Review 5:Bedroom was next to bathroom which was a little noisy at times.
Review 6:Just a short walk from the train station. Clean and comfortable. Lynda was very welcoming and friendly. She recommended where to eat in Ulverston that night when I arrived and the B&B is just a short walk into the town centre. Excellent choice for breakfast and Lynda provided all the ingredients to make up a packed lunch before setting off on The Cumbria Way. Home made cake (eaten on the shores of Coniston Water) would win The Great British Bake-off!! Mmmm.
Review 7:Very good breakfast at a time to suit us. Lovely room with all facilities. Property in a good position for town (Ulverston) and parking available right outside.
Review 8:Friendly welcome by Ian at 1pm after an exhausting day. Lovely and homely. Lots of homely comforts and thoughtful touches. Can't wait to go back. Delicious breakfast and the bed was so comfy I didn't want to leave.
Review 9:WiFi sketchy in our room but not a big deal, there is a lovely guest living room to hang out in downstairs.
Review 10:Friendly hosts , huge room , plentiful breakfast with tons of fresh fruit!
Review 11:The bathroom was not en suite. This did not bother me personally, but I mention it in case anyone has other expectations.
Review 12:The owners were incredibly welcoming. The room was enormous. Breakfast was made to order, which was excellent given I can be a fussy eater prior to a day of strenuous exercise.
Review 13:There wasn't anything that we didn't like about this place. It was comfortable, clean, and the owners were both friendly and helpful. They gave us a great recommendation for a short hike and wonderful dinner. Unfortunately our plans changed and we were only able to stay one out of the two nights we booked and had to leave before breakfast, but we would definitely stay here again.
Review 14:There's not a single thing we didn't like about it.
Review 15:It's very homely and pleasant and the couple who own it are really lovely people and make you very welcome.
Review 16:Not a major grouse but I would have preferred fresh fruit/yogurt on the breakfast options? We travel around a fair deal and are used to having 'healthy' alternatives. To be fair the owners offered to get me some but we had too tight a schedule. Otherwise, everything was fine. My husband and mother-in-law enjoyed the full English! We all enjoyed the toast/cereals and the coffee was good
Review 17:We needed somewhere to stay for one night. We arrived late and left straight after breakfast. Linda and her husband were very accomodating, everything was ready for us when we got there 'after hours'. The rooms were clean and comfortable, as were the beds. Our bathroom/toilet was not en suite but that was fine. My husband's mother had an en suite room and she was very pleased with it.
Review 18:Two little negatives, the room was not ensuite and the walls could have done with a few pictures to break the space up a little, all though the decor was really good.
Review 19:Linda,Ian,and Stephen, were really friendly , pleasant and informal. The room was very big and clean, with a washbasin in one corner, and tea and coffee facility in the other. The breakfast was excellent and well presented.
Review 20:Every effort was taken to make our stay as comfortable as possible, fabulous home from home, we will definitely use this gorgeous gem of a place again.
Review 21:Poor quality mattress.
Review 22:Short walk from railway station; handy for town; lovely view of Hoad Monument from room; interesting rope walk nearby; great breakfast.
Review 23:A conveniently placed house only a few minutes walk from public transport (both rail & bus) plus restaurants, a cinema, theatre & museum. On street parking was plentiful & the area is undergoing regeneration. The owners made guests most welcome indeed.
Review 24:Linda and Ian's friendliness. Value for money. Close enough to the high street, restaurants, pubs and Laurel And Hardy entertainments, but a little distance away in a quiet street.
Review 25:Great location, very short walk to restaurants and pubs. Room was clean with plenty of space. The host Ian was very helpful, and cooked a great breakfast!
Review 26:Linda and Ian (and Jess the dog) were absolutely lovely and really helpful. I'm a vegetarian and they catered well for me at breakfast. The room was nicely decorated and really big, and the bathroom was beautiful (shared).
Review 27:Linda and her husband were lovely and welcoming. The breakfast was great each morning. Short walk into town - Linda gave great recommendation for a local pub to try on our first night. Would stay again when visiting the Lake District.
Review 28:No major gripes but they could improve the quality of the sausages at breakfast (a local one would be nice). Definitely need to accept debit/credit cards even if adding a surcharge to use one. And a bit of local information in the room would make it more welcoming.
Review 29:Ian and Linda were very friendly and attentive. Spacious room (I got a double for a single price late booking deal). Firm mattress! Good shower. Decent breakfast.
Review 30:Looked a bit scary from outside as just looked like an old building but actually liked it in the end!
Review 31:The couple who owned the rock house were really pleasant. Made us feel like we were staying at a family members house. When we came in at night they gave us ice and wine glasses for our bottle of wine. Breakfast was amazing too!
Review 32:Not the most appealing looking building from the outside and opposite an industrial area. Not all the rooms are en-suite which was my oversight. Decor a bit dated in places.
Review 33:Very warm welcome from the hosts (and the dog). Good breakfast whenever you need it. A real home feel and big rooms with lovely high ceilings. I've written quite a bit in the negative because my heart had sunk a little when I pulled up outside and the internal decor isn't great. But once I got settled, I quickly realised that it's a great place to rest a weary head. It's also a really quick walk (max 10 minutes) into town with several great eateries. I'd happily stay there again. The owners make this place a real winner for me!
Review 34:Staff went out of their way to make the stay special As I stayed on my own the family were camping the staff went out of their way to make my son and granddaughter feel at home when they visited me Nothing was too much trouble

Review 103:The adaptability of the proprietors who supported friends of mine to make a surprise visit to see me during my round the UK motorbike ride for charity. Rock House was close to town (5 mins walk) which afforded us ease of access while allowing a peaceful nights sleep away from the hustle, bustle and noise of the town centre.
Review 104:I would not hesitate, if the opportunity arrises, to revisit the Rock House in Ulverston. We were made to feel both welcome and comfortable by our charming hosts. We are also are captivated by the beauty of the surrounding area and the lovely community of Ulverston
