Reviews for Saga Hotel

Review 1:Beds are rather firm, but just ask for a topper.

Review 2:Large, comfy rooms, balcony, kitchenette. Lift, bars, pool, terraces, views, etc, etc. Location slightly away from the old town, but an easy walk from the slow ferry terminal - but get a taxi if you have luggage and have arrived by the catamaran. Lovely people.

Review 3:We can't fault the hotel, but we would advise that the surrounding streets are not well lit at night.

Review 4:We loved that everything was so easy; the staff were so friendly and accommodating, the hotel food and bar were excellent, and the hotel had a really pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The view from the roof garden is spectacular. Zefi and Takis, who run the Saga, made our stay very memorable.

Review 5:This family owned hotel is exceptional. Zefi, Takis, Dimitra and Yiota all give you a very warm welcome, which is a fantastic start to your holiday. The breakfast is plentiful and tasty and includes their farm produced, home-made marmalade and jam, fruit, eggs and cakes. Lunches and dinners are available (their farm produce included) and have to be amongst the best cooking on the island and their strawberry (again from the farm) daiquiris are definitely the best on the island! They are supremely helpful at all times and as a guest, you feel you are in a safe and caring company and that your custom is important. We loved the fact that the hotel attracts many Greek families as well as ones from abroad so you feel part of the community. Their parrot Freddie is entertaining and Choco the dog is also part of the family team, helping your stay to be a great one. There is a lift and a lovely roof terrace with a great view and also a very impressive, very well kept pool, considering that this is not a big hotel. There is even an orchard with a nice background of clucking quails and quail eggs available if you so choose. Location is also very good, as you can have a good stroll into town, but have the peace and quiet in the hotel. It is also convenient to get to Love Bay and the bus to the Monastery Beach which was actually our favourite. Spiros Taverna is the closest, which many view as possibly the best on the island and the White Cat Taverna is just a little further which is famous for its fresh octopus (see them being sundried after the catch). There are good places nearby to hire bikes. Zefi was wonderful planning our transport back to Athens via Corinth, which was a great way to extend the final precious moments of our holiday. I would highly recommend staying at Saga.

Review 6:This family run hotel was exceptional, they were very friendly and extremely helpful.Lovely rooms with great view of Poros. Great breakfasts with fresh orange juice from their own trees.Extremely clean facilities and lovely pool.Would highly recommend a stay here.

Review 7:Loved Location - central for the town and all beaches, but quiet and peaceful, friendliness of family running hotel, fabulous views from balcony, food great, comfort of room perfect. Would happily recommend.

Review 8:The food wasn't very good. I had one meal from the pool bar and it was not very nice at all. Breakfast was pretty ordinary compared with breakfasts I had got at other hotels. Wifi was a bit slow so I used my own rather than the hotel wifi.

Review 9:Nice room and pool area. Location good as it's quiet but walking distance from the main Poros town and only a short distance from Love Bay.

Review 10:It would be hard to find a more welcoming and well run family hotel. Stack and her staff/family were a delight. Wouldn't hesitate to return to the Saga and the lovely Island of Poros.

Review 11:Electrics failed and airconditioning also not working for a day. It rained too! ...though I don't blame the Hotel for that! Also management of breakfast arrangements could be better organised to avoid guests competing for sometimes limited supplies and space

Review 12:Clean, comfortable and spacious.

Review 13:If something to change or to complain: Air condition a bit noisy (as often), so couldnt use at night. Noise from the corridor can be heard in the room. Kitchenette very basic.

Review 14:Nice athmosphere, super friendly personnel. Pool best for the kids. We loved hotels animals (dogs, parrot, canarybird, guails) and garden with lemontrees. We liked a lot!!!

Review 15:From the warm welcome to the great breakfasts, Easter activities and products from their garden and farm, our hosts were wonderful. The children loved the pool and Jacuzzi. Accommodation comfortable and clean, with choice of balconies.

Review 16:Plan to book your ferry tickets from Pireus in advance.

Review 17:The owners of this family-owned hotel go out of their way to ensure you have a memorable vacation. Greek hospitality at its best!

Review 18:Great service, nothing was too much trouble. Good breakfast, Comfortable bed. Pick up from the ferry waa very much appreciated. Will definitely stay here the next time we're on Poros.

Review 19:The beaches are easy to get to but either stony or not amazing. If you go to Poros I would definitely recommend this hotel but not the island if you want just a beach holiday!

Review 20:Staff were all so helpful and was beautiful location. The room had a fridge and the balcony overlooking the pool was great.

Review 21:The kindness of the staff was stunning, always available and happy to help !! The space in the room we had was more than needed. It is a hotel that would delight both young and less young people.

Review 22:-From the description it sounded like the hotel was close to several beaches, but it was not, only Kanali beach was within walking distance -Small bathroom, but new and functional -No remote for the air-condition, which disrupted our sleep -Noisy fridge -No 'do not disturb' sign for the door

Review 23:- The location near Kanali beach (220 m) was great - Friendly and helpful owners - Decent breakfast (although the coffee was not too good) -The bed was comfortable -The property seemed newly furnished, not worn out like many hotels/pensions in Greece -Within walking distance from Poros town (10-15 min) -Wifi in the room and throughout the property

Review 24:Poor internet (as everywhere in Greece)

Review 25:Extremely nice owners who take care of you. High customer orientation. Small hotel with nice pool. A lot of services incl. massage and cruise trips. Roof terrace with great view on Poros. Poros is a nice town.

Review 26:Warm friendly welcome from this lovely family run hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. Takis and Zefi with their two daughters provided a home from home, plus a super clean pool (2.7m deep!); Freddie the Parrot; Choco the dog; fantastic cold beer on draught and the most delicious home made food... rabbit Stifado; stuffed rolled pork, orange cake mmmm!! Walking distance to town. Lovely views from our balcony (Room 32). The best possible first trip to Poros.

Review 27:The Wifi sometimes didn't work in early morning and late night inour part of the hotel

Review 28:Friendly family staff Nice Greek food! There is a good bbq night withGreek dancing It is near beaches It is also near seaside restaurantsIt's close to the town, and quite close to Athens It has a nice pooland a garden It has nice pet dog and parrot

Review 29:Zefi and her family made us so welcome. Even though we were staying such a short time she took the trouble to find out about us, to remember our names and really make us feel special. We'll certainly be back to such a special place!!

Review 30:The staff were absolutely fantastic. The rooftop restaurant was magical, the homemade food was delicious, the pool and café were fantastic. We loved being a short walk out of town, as the local beach was really nice and it was easy to get to the amazing beach at Love Bay. We will definitely come back!

Review 64:Hospitality of the hotel ,location and view of the very good, breakfast is good

Review 65:gorgeous hotel, very friendly staff, good location, lovely rooms, good breakfast, lovely pool, pool bar & roof terrace bar with fantastic views

Review 66:Lovely, genuine, friendly owner who gave excellent restaurant recommendations. The hotel is a little way out of the town but very walkable and in a quiet location. Pool even better than it looks on the site.

Review 67:lovely hotel with excellent staff and management who were very helpful and accommodating. Great swimming pool and breakfast, we will be back and highly recommend this hotel as excellent value

Review 68:Hosts were the friendliest most helpful people. The facilities were excellent. Large rooms with new well-designed bathrooms. Lovely pool. Great location. Nice breakfast.

Review 69:Everything - we had a lovely room with a great view of the sea and port; the owners and staff were kind and made us feel at home - we were given bunches of oregano to take home and dry, to remind us of Poros - and the hotel was small and homely and the walk into town gave us chance to stretch our legs after eating out! We definitely plan to return!

Review 70:We booked the room one day in. advance. When we arrived, there the place was stinky and dark. There was no one to greet us, and some drunk guy who's relations to the hotel I'm not sure of, tried to open up some rooms for us but non of them were clean. At the third room, and after 20 minutes we left.

Review 71:Didn't stay long enough to find anything good about this place

Review 72:Not much

Review 73:Very friendly, hospitable and courteous family. High standard interiors and facilities with great sea and mainland views. The mini kitchen was very useful. Excellent pool and poolside area .

Review 74:Poros is beautiful and has plenty of secluded beaches. We love the hospitality of the hotel owners; husband and wife were always at hand to help and advice. The hotel was in a quite road with restaurants nearby and 20 minutes walk from the town and ferry. There were two lovely dogs, a parrot, some birds in cages and an orchard to explore behind the swimming pool.

Review 75:A little problem with mosquitos in the area in September, so go prepared with anti pest stuff.

Review 76:Just about everything. The owners of the hotel Zefi and Takis absolutely make the holiday and provide the ingredients for a wonderful Greek experience. Total relaxation in an easy location for the beach/s during the day, and a plentiful choice of habourside or hidden back street tavernas/restaurants by night. We were two Sisters from the U.K. having 'just' reached retirement age spending 2 weeks holiday at the Saga Hotel, and were made to feel very welcome and special.

Review 77:Having to leave

Review 78:Absolutley everything. The loveliest, friendliest most helpul people. Felt like home from home. Spotless. Room was fab. Food lovely. Best place we have ever stayed including all the 5★

Review 79:The friendliness of the owners. The rooms were fantastic and great value for money The food was great The welcoming nature of Zeffi and Takis Great hospitality Great central location The charm of Poros

Review 80:The family who own and run the hotel could not have been more welcoming and helpful. I loved the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. It was a wonderful place for us all to stay - my 2 year old grandson, his parents, aunt and myself. The rooms were always clean, the food often homemade - good quality and reasonably priced. The longer I stayed the more I met people who had been back year after year. Perhaps that says it all!

Review 81:The warmth of welcome from the owners of this family hotel - they could not do enough for their guests and, as a result, some have been going every year for 20 years.

Review 82:Wonderful family run hotel. Offers great pool, quiet location and rooftop bar and restaurant. Food was fantastic!! Best pastistio we have ever had--all prepared by the owners. Large modern rooms and American-style bathrooms. Great value.

Review 83:very friendly service. very clean and with good facilities (everything works well) for a reasonable price. quiet because not in centre but very easy to walk to restaurants.

Review 84:Slight criticism: The pool is more suited to a refreshing dip rather than lounging for hours since the deckchair area is quite narrow and very hot during the afternoon. But since there are shady beaches on Poros this is not really a problem. Breakfast is somewhat basic; a greater selection of ripe fruit would be nice.

Review 85:Great room size, state-of-the-art bathroom, all thoughtfully and intelligently modernised, spotlessly clean. And the biggest bed I have ever seen! With a very comfortable firm mattress. The owners and their daughters are very helpful and attentive, never intrusive. The location slightly outside town but close to some waterside restaurants was quiet and suited us better than being in the centre.

Review 86:nothing!

Review 87:The owners are very friendly! Nice swimmingpool. Nice and clean rooms. Good breakfast. Nice small family hotel. Poros is a very nice island with beautiful nature and beaches. You really have to visit the island and Saga hotel.

Review 88:Second time to this little beauty, same high class services and "family" feeling. Quiet, relaxing, great renovated rooms, nice place around the pool, roof garden with a view, eating in house. Owners with solutions to any problem.

Review 89:Going back home ....:-)

Review 90:Nice hotel near the beach with a beutiful wiew over Poros and the sea. The hotel rooms are newly renovated and the hotel appears to invest time and money to keep it up to date. Lovely Pool and garden area with Bougainwilla and lemon trees and at least a nice bar where you can buy nice food and drinks during the day.You can have a lovly meal at the at the roof terasse where you ahve a excellent wiev. Once a week the family arrange a Greek evening with dance and Greek food. Very freindly staff, You really fell that you are velcome, We would enjoy to get back ***** 5 Stars*****

Review 91:Small place with a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. Rooms clean and modern at nice budget, friendly price. Accomodated our family of 7 in two rooms on the same floor. Very safe feeling.

Review 92:We didn't want to leave and we can't wait to return.

Review 93:We liked everything. The welcome, the freshly squeezed lemon juice on arrrival, the family, the hospitality, the room, the organic garden and farm, the wine, the food, the roof terrace, the service, Freddy the parrot, Chocco the dog and Captain Rabbit.

Review 94:Hidden in a quiet district of Poros, you will not believe the beauty of this little treasure, family operated hotel. Really quiet and discreet (but owners very willing to help, when asked). The pool is nice and clean. Book well in advance and ask for room with view to the pool and sea. Taste the menu at the roof, with beautiful view.

Review 95:Softer pillows maybe but thats all I can think of.

Review 96:Loved pretty much everything about this hotel. Lovely peaceful location but walking distance to the beach and Poros town...lovely friendly welcoming staff would love to return and would definitely recommend.

Review 97:Nothing to write here

Review 98:I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend, and the owners were very kind and helpful. They did everything to make us feel comfortable. The room had a fantastic view and it was an excellent service. Breakfast was really tasty and the only day I had dinner at the hotel, the food, the table, the service, everything, was more than I expected, 10 out of 10. Also, their homemade white wine was really superb. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Poros, beautiful island!

Review 99:The owner was awesome! She took us on a tour of the island, recommended some great restaurants, and was amazingly helpful with everything.
