Reviews for Royal Golf Hotel
Review 1:Bus service not running new year weekend
Review 2:So hospitable staff very friendly food excellent and such a beautiful location and views from the conservatory
Review 3:The whole staff went above and beyond their duty to make us feel welcome. I travel around a lot and this was one the friendliest stays I have had anywhere. Thanks again to all the staff. Brilliant.
Review 4:It was a very nice hotel in a wonderful location, but needs a general refurb and upgrade in certain areas. As golfers going to a golf hotel we were disappointed that Sky sports wasn't available in the room (large TV in lounge with Sky). The breakfast was vgood and the staff service was both friendly and helpful.
Review 5:Restricted menu, only offered a full blown evening meal, there was nothing for those wanting something light.
Review 6:Location as golf hotel very good. Changed and upgraded my room without any fuss when the bathroom had an unpleasant smell.
Review 7:Our room had a spectacular view of the golf course. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. The breakfast has to be the best I have had ever! From the presentation to the culinary expertise of the chef. Piping hot too. First class.
Review 8:Room overlooking the first tee was beautiful. Food was fabulous and staff very friendly and helpful. Owners even bought us a drink as our car had broken down and had had a bad day.
Review 9:Only small black mark for me was salmon in the restaurant being deep fried rather than grilled and also a few ingredients seemed to be missing from the lamb dish my husband had as compared to the menu. But overall the meal was still very enjoyable and in beautiful setting.
Review 10:Super hotel, highly recommended. It was a real treat to spend the night here on the way up to Orkney. Friendly staff, beautiful setting and views. Clean and comfortable. Look forward to staying again sometime.
Review 11:Wouldn't change a thing
Review 12:This hotel was one of the highlights of our trip through Scotland. Rooms were luxurious, staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, and breakfast was top notch. We also enjoyed the close proximity to the golf course. Can't rate this hotel highly enough.
Review 13:There was nothing that I didn't like except maybe the price. But given the location that was not too bad.
Review 14:The location was overlooking the course and is adjacent to the first tee and clubhouse.
Review 15:Blinds in my room could be better. Room was really light in the morning
Review 16:Beautiful location, right next to the first tee at Royal Dornoch golf course. Nice food. Luxury accomodation
Review 17:The coffee. It spoiled my meal. Other than that the food could have been better. Frozen chips and a salad drowned in dressing spoiled a lovely piece of beef.
Review 18:Staff were attentive but could have been friendlier. Perhaps I'm being harsh as I was only there one night. However the 2 young waiters were very chatty and lnformative.
Review 19:massively!!! Overcharging for pint of peroni lager in bar £6.50 !!!!! Following day played Castle Stuart £4.95 and went into trendy wine bar in Inverness same pint £4.40
Review 20:Location ,veiw, food
Review 21:Wifi could be better In the bedrooms, seemed slow, but the hotel is right on the seafront
Review 22:Fantastic food, lovely rooms. Great high quality bed linen and towels, brand new decorated bedrooms and immaculately clean bathrooms. Restaurant was fantastic food, and very professionally served by the waiting staff.
Review 23:Cleanliness in room was not 5 star, romm was dusty, and bedding not fresh, although dealt with immediately should not be the case, we realise it was late in the season but no excuse.
Review 24:staff were really nice, could not do enough. Food was good although expensive. Would not say really worth 5 star rating. Saying this becausw the staff were so nice we dit enjoy our stay.
Review 25:windows rattled in wind dog barking in room opposite tv too small
Review 26:location view from bedroom over golf course to sea breakfast attentive and friendly staff
Review 27:We did not like the attitude from the hotel.Obviously they were winding down ( shut down in November) but really if you are paying so much you expect a bit of pampering.I am trying to be fair but I am struggling. The noise( shower/toilet/ voices etc)from the next door room kept me awake from well before 5am until about 7am..I would have contacted reception but there was no one on site until the morning when I did complain and got some recompense. Regarding our welcome I was asked if I wanted any help with luggage and for the first time ever I said yes as my husband had just had a hernia op.The receptionist said they would help as long as I could bring the bags from the car to the hotel . I did this but really could not be bothered with this sort of grudging help so took the stuff up the stairs in about 3 loads and the same on the way out.( no help offered on check out)
Review 28:Not much..We paid an enormous amount for one night's stay,..However, they did deduct a bit from our bill as we re so disatisfied as we hardly slept due to the noise from next door. Our room was shabby, paint was flaking and bits coming off the wall. There were lovely views but that was it..I was shocked that we did not have a bath but she did offer an alternative with bath but very small room( all small rooms we were offered presumably previous servant rooms at back of house?)
Review 29:Nothing!!
Review 30:Staff were very friendly and helpful and food was good. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and breakfast next morning was varied and presented beautifully.
Review 31:Room was a bit overheated. Had to remind waitress about breakfast order.
Review 32:The magnificent views. Extremely comfortable bed. Really good breakfast. Pleasant staff.
Review 33:I recently had open heart surgery My room was on the third floor No porterage result I had to carry my case with the resultant pressure on my health.. Directions to the Hotel were inadequate
Review 34:The staff were helpfull The Food was way above average. The Bed was comfortable The Bathroom facilities were good above average but being on the third floor it took 12 minutes before the supply of hot water could be used in the shower. this occoured both afternoon and morning
Review 35:nothing
Review 36:the staff helped when I arrive not feeling well, the assisted us with information about the ferry..........great service. Also, they had a room on the ground floor!!
Review 37:Liked everything
Review 38:Staff were fantastic, I was running late, they called to check everything was ok and made dining arrangements for my Arrival, room was modern, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable
Review 39:The room had been turned around in a hurry I think. Some items left behind by previous occupants. Not a major criticism but it shouldn't have happened.
Review 40:Regular visitor to Dornoch and this was the first visit to the hotel and would stay there again no question.
Review 41:We were staying one night only and wanted to pay our room on check in and pay for our meal after we had it. Not keen to accomodate this, so on check in, the receptionist then made a point of telling the dining room manager that we hd requested to pay our meal on completion. It made no difference because when we requested our bill for our evening meal 4 different people came to our table to say that the meal could be put on the room charge. It seemed a problem for them and made us very uncomfortable. Surely it's not such an unusual thing to want to pay for something after you have had it.
Review 42:The room had a great view and our meal, enjoyed at a window table, was very nice
Review 43:Price rather high it seems--yet it's all about the location and convenience of being on the first tee at one of the world's great golf courses.

Review 109:Lovely, good quality hotel and nice staff.
Review 110:I have stayed twice before and have arrived after a rainfall and the rooms have smelled of blocked drains. Not too overpowering but certainly lingering !!!!! it is such as a shame - as this hotel is excellent apart from this - did not spoil my staff and would book again.
Review 111:Overall ambience of the hotel and the staff are excellent.
Review 112:The room was pretty small and could have done with some form of black-out curtains as the blinds let light in (and summer in Dornoch has very long daylight days!).
Review 113:The hotel is perfectly situated for golf at Royal Dornoch and also for easy walking to the town. The staff were really friendly. Breakfast was very good. The bar area has great views.
Review 114:No trouser press in the room. Radio in breakfast room.
Review 115:Perfect for sightseeing the area and for walking the beach. Evening meal and breakfasts first class.
Review 116:Although bathroom was clearly recently updated and lovely, the room itself was a bit disappointing to be honest.
Review 117:Fantastic location, friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, big comfy bed. Make sure to get a room with a view over the Dornoch Firth and golf course.
Review 118:Wonderful place to stay,I was most impressed with everything from the staff, the room & the food. Will definitely stay here again & would recommend this hotel for both business & pleasure.
