Reviews for The Kings Arms Hotel

Review 1:If I have to choose something, the only slight criticism is that we could have done with some softer pillows on the bed.

Review 2:We both really enjoyed our stay at the Kings Arms over the Christmas period, it was all really lovely. The room was great (split level), really cosy and with a separate seating area.

Review 3:uneven floors. we were on the top floor, and with failing eye sight and uneven stairs, my husband found it dangerous going up and down stairs

Review 4:Staff extremely friendly and polite. Comfortable beds. excellent food.

Review 5:Having to come home.

Review 6:The Staff couldn't do enough for you the food was excellent and the accommodation very relaxing. Can't wait to return. Well done to all who work there.

Review 7:The female manager at this pub/hotel was not friendly upon arrival and when checking out. Not even a smile but just complete attitude at all times and looked completely miserable, which I have never experienced in a customer service environment at any hotel I have stayed at before. Therefore it's my first time even complaining about an attitude like this from a hotel manager. She completely talked over you when we had a quiery about the booking or the hotel in general and her general mannerism just ruined the whole experience of visiting the Cotswolds for the first time and just made us feel completely uncomfortable staying at the hotel. We most definitely will not stay there again.

Review 8:Location was good and rooms were clean.

Review 9:This hotel is in a brilliant location in the market square, the staff are all so friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Denham room which is beautifully furnished and decorated with everything you want. Yes the floors are uneven and the stairs are a bit steep but the building is over 500 years old and it all adds to the quirkiness. We ate in the restaurant for both nights and the food was excellent especially the pot pie which was chicken mushroom and chilli. The breakfast is superb. There is parking to the rear of the hotel which is an added bonus. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break and will definitely go back again

Review 10:Historic hotel with modern comforts. Squidgy sofas, oak floors, huge fireplaces made for lots of atmosphere. Obviously popular locally. Lovely food and very friendly staff.

Review 11:The rooms are at the back of the pub where the deliveries are made so expect an early morning wake up.

Review 12:Generous sized rooms, lovely bathrooms and good food/breakfasts

Review 13:Excellent, wonderful ,superb and friendly!!!! Lucinda and Charlie part of a great team that made our stay one to remember! Charlie moved to stow and the kings arms from a hotel in Suffolk. Their loss! Kings arms gain!! Lock the gates and don't let her leave!!! Professional, hardworking, friendly and put up with me!!! Will I visit again? Yes, yes, yes!! If I can get a room as this place should be fully booked always! Best regards, Neil Taylor.

Review 14:Really popular place, bar gets quite crowded around lunch times, although there is a resturant upstairs. Lots of stairs, wouldn't be to everyone's taste.

Review 15:Staff were extremely friendly and great help, food was superb, room comfortable and cosy

Review 16:The car park was quite small.

Review 17:The service from the staff was excellent, the food was really nice and the location was perfect for what we were looking for.

Review 18:Room 5 noisy when window open due to fan constantly running on next door building. Had no choice to keep window open due paint fumes from recent room decoration, smell over powering had difficulty sleeping.

Review 19:The restaurant food and service were excellent. Staff pleasant. Room was nicely decorated. Location great to explore the Cotswolds.

Review 20:Having to leave!

Review 21:This was a lucky find in the heart of Stow in the Wold. A beautiful, historic and quirky building which has been restored and renovated to a high standard. The staff were excellent and so friendly which made a massive difference. Thank you.

Review 22:Noise room, could improve the insulation between the downstairs rooms. However upstairs was quite.

Review 23:Great location, nice staff and good food and drinks

Review 24:The stairs to the room very uneven.the window had warped with a inch gap. Both my husband and myself did not feel the that £120 a night was justified.

Review 25:The staff excellent very friendly. The rooms appear to have been recently refurbished.

Review 26:Leak in bathroom reported it not repaired properly still leaking. Room felt damp and smelt musty. Lighting was poor. Settee was very uncomfortable. No reduction offered.

Review 27:Good breakfast and lovely big comfortable bed.

Review 28:This hotel was easy to find the rooms were neat and tidy not sure that the top floor rooms would be accessible up the stairs for older guests we thought they were great

Review 29:The mattress was awful, had very little sleep, as when you moved the bed rolled you into the mddle. My husband who already has a bad back had to sleep on the edge of bed on his side to prevent rolling inwards, woke up in agony. It was very soft, I feel for the price they are charging should invest in some new mattresses, afterall a good nights sleep is a huge part of ones stay.

Review 30:location, free parking

Review 31:Heating was trick to control, either too hot or too cold, soon worked it out though. The Bar was aimed solely at food, no where to sit and have a drink.

Review 32:Extremely well presented room, very happy with the facilities.

Review 33:The Kings arms is so conveniently situated for exploring the area. It's also great to just step outside and you've restaurants bars tearooms and cafes and some very good shops without having to get In the car - It's very good value for money and the staff couldn't be more accommodating and friendly - We would certainly go back

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Staff were very friendly, room was very nice, breakfast very good. Location excellent. There was parking round the back, although a little tight!

Review 36:We had room 5 - the kitchen extractor fan was outside bedroom window so we couldn't have the window open as the smell wasn't great.

Review 37:Lovely staff, great location right in the middle of the town.

Review 38:Nothing!!

Review 39:Absolutely loved it, stayed in stable cottage in the courtyard, was lovely accommodation. Food was great too, very friendly & helpful staff. Will be going back!!

Review 40:Only one moan , there was a group of people outside , very noisy till really late ,

Review 41:We had room 1 which was a cottage style , bedroom upstairs , so cosy , very clean , brilliant location , we ate in the Resteurant that night , food was very good ,

Review 42:Dim lighting, windows look onto driveway. Staff could not direct us to tourist information center, and did not have a map of the town.

Review 43:Comfortable bedding. Nice breakfast. Restaurant staff were pleasant.

Review 44:dark and insufficient lighting, floor mats with curled up corners that were easy to trip over

Review 45:comfortable bed clean shower room and towels good breakfast friendly staff

Review 46:For the cost of the room, I would expect a better standard of toiletries & more choice of tea/coffee

Review 47:Central location. Parking available A casual, laid back atmosphere

Review 48:Bit noisy in morning as next to restaurant. No offer of toast at breakfast. Needed instructions for room heating.

Review 49:Period surroundings, extremely comfortable bed, and a wonderful breakfast.

Review 50:The location of this hotel was excellent, for exploring the Cotswolds. The staff were excellent and could not do enough for us. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice. We really recommend this hotel.

Review 51:steep stairs to second floor lack of a lounge or seating area for relaxing

Review 52:location central for many attractions easy parking evening meals - choice, good quality and good value

Review 53:The staff were great, we had a small cottage in the courtyard which was spot on. The breakfast was lovely and we ate on night in the pub and the food was brilliant.

Review 54:Would have been nice to see more 'smiles' from kitchen staff who simply ignored us as they passed us by. Young hardworking staff. Everyone from kitchen to room maids can have a great impact on the customers experience.

Review 55:Great location for other restaurants in the town and local area Bar and restaurant/breakfast staff were very helpful with anything from carrying suitcases to getting the best table. A nice selection at breakfast available.

Review 56:The building its self is lovely old and traditional, but unfortunatelythe establishment is trying to be an upmarket gastro hotel and it is wayunder par! I stayed in a king room the decoration, was tired and old,old chairs, covered by throws, nothing special, no attention to detail.Old beds that roll to one side. Zed bed (an extra charge) £15 old, sagged and squeaked. Cooked breakfast nice, cold buffet dull and noimagination. I paid £390 for 3 night stayed, should have been more like£240 maximum. The hotel is valuing itself on the demanding tourist tradeand not what it is offering.

Review 57:The staff were very welcoming and friendly, attentive and quick torespond to your request. Location, perfect on the square, privateparking handy as public parking is busy.

Review 58:The 'free' WiFi was absolute rubbish. Overseas travellers like us have to depend on hotel WiFi and this proved to be a let down.

Review 59:Very homely, very comfortable. Some very interesting quotes from famous people on the walls of the pub area!!

Review 60:The room next to us had their TV right next to the wall that our sofa was on so we could hear that more than our own. The bin store was rig below the bedroom window and it was used quite early in the morning and late at night.

Review 61:Free on site parking. Very polite helpful staff and lovely food. The cottage we got was very comfortable and more than we were expecting.

Review 62:En-suite shower room very small, with a tiny space saving sink. Our room on second floor accessed by a very steep, narrow staircase - not a problem for us, but it would be for anyone with mobility issues.

Review 63:Great location overlooking marketplace, excellent breakfast (including choice of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs), helpful, pleasant staff.

Review 64:Was supposed to be a superior room, but it was room out the back in a block, the bedroom was on a mezzanine floor with toilet downstairs, difficult if you have mobility issues. Bedroom with velux windows with views of a fire escape on one side & wall on the other. Also advertised with a bath, but only a shower.

Review 65:Great location & good breakfast.

Review 66:Some confusion as to whether we confirmed a King room on-line through Booking.

Review 67:Great location in Stow on the Wold. Good off street parking. Able to secure a King room after some debate. Great breakfast and overall a good experience,

Review 68:Bed linen and towels weren't changed. Staff could've been friendlier.

Review 69:Location was fab. Size of room (no.8) was nice. Choice of breakfast was good.

Review 70:being over 70 and having to climb near vertical stairs

Review 71:Central location overlooking town square. Many activities in surrounding area. Helpful advice from staff as to what to see and do.

Review 72:My only gripe was to be woken up both mornings at 6.30 by someone rolling beer barrels right outside our door!

Review 73:Room was fab, clean and nicely done. Breakfast was very good

Review 74:Maybe our room was too close to the dining room, so I heard noises on the third day of my stay. Generally it was very quiet.

Review 75:Delicious breakfast, helpful staff

Review 76:Nothing to complain about. Our stay was restful and enjoyable.

Review 77:Lovely old building with sloping floors, low ceilings and small windows. Just what you would expect from a 500 year old building. Our room was comfortable with spacious bedroom and modern bathroom. And very quiet.
