Reviews for Cotswold Garden Tea Rooms

Review 1:Ceiling was extremely low - no mention in the room info. Bathroom was very draughty and freezing cold. No parking facilities

Review 2:Location was good Breakfast was very nice Bed was comfortable

Review 3:Unfortunately, we did not like the memory foam mattresses, but this is personal choice and in future we will probably enquire in advance.

Review 4:Beautiful room, great access in an out of the property when the tea rooms are closed - very luxurious, good breakfast.

Review 5:Just ran out of hot water in the shower in the morning, then water slowed right down to a cold trickle before I had finished, suspect plumbing not quite up to the job, but otherwise excellent

Review 6:Beautiful room very quiet

Review 7:The weather and the price of the beer.

Review 8:lovely comfortable bed in an excellent location with plenty of free parking. The staff were very friendly and provided us with a very good breakfast.

Review 9:There was nothing really to dislike. They don't have their own parking which can be a pain.

Review 10:Great location and fantastic room. Large and comfortable with a great en-suite (with an excellent shower). Right in the centre of Stow, but also just set back enough to be really quiet at night. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was decent with good choice.

Review 11:Fantastic location lovely room great breakfast. Excellent value for money.a beautiful town with a beautiful surrounding area couldn't have been better!!

Review 12:Lack of adequate parking, despite the fact that this was mentioned in website.Limited choice at breakfast, particularly if you didn't want a cooked breakfast. No bathmat provided - a real safety hazard which had been commented on by previous guests.

Review 13:Comfortable and spacious rooms

Review 14:The room we were initially taken too had ceilings so low, you could not stand up in there if you were over 165cm tall. When we advised this was not suitable we had to pay a further £20 to move to a room that could be stood up in. The second room was fine, I just feel booking the first room at the lower price was a bit of a con to get you in, you then had to choose between continually banging your head or paying the extra. If the first room is to be rented itbshould ge rented with a clear notification of how low the ceilings are, then you have a choice to look at other booking options.

Review 15:There wasn't anything I didn't like

Review 16:The rooms were tastefully decorated and very clean & comfortable. Staff were very friendly and I will definitely stay there again. Full thumbs up?

Review 17:One of the worst B&B experience I had. The room is set on uneven floor and the bed rested on slopes, making it impossible to sleep without sustained backaches next morning. Owner is not onsite at the B&B and breakfast is served by staff from a cafe on ground floor. Room supposed to include breakfast but early service request attracts additional GBP7.5 and a mediocre packed meal in place of English breakfast included in the room price warrants another GBP5 per pax. All in all we paid quarter of the room's price more for checking out early and eating breakfast prepared a night before. We would not have so grievous or chosen this B&B in the first place if these restrictions and additional costs are spelt out upon booking, that we would find another accommodation which could better cater to our itinerary.

Review 18:In town center itself, where restaurants are within walking distance and overnight public carpark is free.

Review 19:The Bedroom and bathroom suite was amazing - 5Star hotel standard but keeping the Cotswold character of the building.Very friendly staff - English Breakfast was one of the nicest I have ever tasted. The Bed was of superior quality- huge and very firm.

Review 20:Lack of personal attention from the staff, limited choices at breakfast before the fried meal, lighting in bedroom was harsh, a surcharge for breakfast if eaten before 9am!

Review 21:Location, bathroom, comfortable bed and good fried breakfast.

Review 22:We were in the attic room, which had (as you would expect) low ceilings and lots of stairs to reach it. We were OK with this but it won't suit everyone. Also, the mattress sagged a lot, which made us uncomfortable so we didn't sleep well.

Review 23:The location was ideal, accommodation charming and the bathroom was great.

Review 24:I cannot think of anything that we didn't like. Everything was great.

Review 25:This was a lovely place to stay. Everyone was so wonderful, the food was good and I like the was they fed guests first and then open up to the public. Very nice, thank you.

Review 26:Not a negative comment, but just be aware, given this is an old cottage, the ceilings are low - beware tall people!

Review 27:Staff were really friendly, the room was small but very cute, food was great and we were right in the middle of the town - perfect for wandering around.

Review 28:Parking wasn't ideal. Also the ceiling in the room was very low ! Not good if your tall ! We stayed in Room 1.

Review 29:Good location, friendly staff. The room was cosy and welcoming.

Review 30:There was nothing to dislike

Review 31:We loved the quaint room, the friendly staff, the comfortable bed and the scrumptious freshly cooked breakfast. I wish we were staying more than one night. Would definitely recommend.

Review 32:Could of used more amenities like more soap, a shower cap, etc.

Review 33:the location was excellent and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious!

Review 34:A few things were missing in the bathroom - a second tooth mug, and a bath mat.

Review 35:We liked the spacious bedroom and very large bed. The breakfast was good and the decor was very pleasant.

Review 36:One of the bedside lights did not work. Stairs very tight.

Review 37:Very comfortable room, though quirky ie low ceilings and beams. Excellent location for a Stow, friendly staff, great breakfast.

Review 38:Very convenient location to make it your base to visit the Cotswold region. Parking very easy and free but you have to move your car by 11 am. Very well located close to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was in the tea room and you could choose from different options: omelets, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, etc. Nice size room and bathroom.

Review 39:Extremely slippery in shower needs a slip mat before someone gets injured. Also no bath mat for floor, which is painted wood.

Review 40:Lovely room well decorated with nice furniture and very clean. Beautiful bathroom, large shower and separate large corner bath.

Review 41:None

Review 42:The staff were very pleasant and accomodating. Loved the small street location and all the shops and restaurant nearby. The village people were very pleasant. Lovely village! Good breakfast.

Review 43:Beautifully presented B&Bin gorgeous Cotswold tea rooms. Surprised by fantastic reproductions of British portraits in bedroom and in hallway! Room was huge and perfect for a small family, lots of extra space. Staff were extremely helpful.

Review 44:The only problem with anywhere in Stow is the parking. Parking was free from 6.00pm to 8.00am.

Review 45:We were informed the rooms have been refurbished recently and they are to a very high standard. We had room No 4 in the roof space, the bathroom was beautiful with a really large shower.

Review 46:My husband enjoyed his breakfast but I ordered beans on toast which was cold. Not particularly good value breakfast for me especially as it is not that difficult to make.

Review 47:Really nice, quirky room in a lovely setting. Nice staff.

Review 48:Nasty smell in the bathroom that needs addressing

Review 49:The quirkiness with the low beams ,lovely light room airy ,confortable ,walking distance to the pubs ,good location for site seeing

Review 50:2 small niggles....towels were old and washed out although clean, they need to be changed, towels are not expensive. Breakfast was great but PLEASE warm the plates! There's nothing worse than hot food served on a cold plate!

Review 51:Very comfy bed and tasty breakfasts

Review 52:Despite saying in the In-room information that they are happy to accommodate any dietary needs and despite me requesting a Gluten Free breakfast months before when I made my booking, there was no Gluten Free cereal or bread available. I brought my own cereal with me and walked over the road to buy a loaf of GF bread (readily available) so they could make me toast. My husband (6 ft tall) kept hitting his head very hard on the doorway between the bedroom and ensuite as it was very low. On mentioning this to the staff I was informed as it is an old building there is nothing they could do!!!! I made the simple and cost effective suggestion of sticking a small sign on the door frame saying 'Mind your head' but was told this would not make any difference and there was no point. I found this a very strange reaction and the staff member argued the point with me at length.

Review 53:The Tea Rooms are centrally located in Stow and the room was large but cosy with huge bed and nice ensuite. The staff were generally friendly and attentive at breakfast time.

Review 54:The room was spacious and decorated beautifully throughout, Bathroom stunning, shower out of this world, we had the attic room. Staff lovely and friendly and helpful. Whole stay was tremendous x

Review 55:Found a sign on the door to call a mobile number when we arrived and this went to voicemail twice. Inconvenient in the rain. When we finally got inside we were taken to the room, given keys, advised that breakfast was downstairs from 9am to 10am and asked if we had any questions. Breakfast the next morning was basic with a hot dish provided from a choice as well as toast, basic cereals and orange juice. No fruit, yoghurt, jams, pastries or anything else were noted or offered. After breakfast we asked if we could have an earlier 8am breakfast the next day as we were departing. The response was at first a firm no, then changed to maybe, but we would have to pay extra for it! No alternatives were suggested by the host. How hard could it be for a tea house to provide a cold continental breakfast for guests departing early? And 8 am is not that early. Would not stay again or recommend.

Review 56:Spacious room with large bed and seating area and ensuite bathroom. Up one short flight of narrow stairs was not a problem. Nearby parking in town square was ok when rules were made known to us (but had to ask to find out). Rooms are above the tea house downstairs where breakfast is cooked and served.

Review 57:Breakfast was only served from 9am which is a little late for anyone wanting to get out and explore the Cotswolds.

Review 58:The central location and free overnight parking in the Town Square which is only 100 meters away was very convenient. Breakfast was good.

Review 59:We would probably have prefered something a little more historical and less modernized but the fireplace in the dining room was amazing.

Review 60:The location in the perfect village of Stow-on-the-Wold was perfect. The room was stylish and lovely. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Review 61:loved everything

Review 62:Central location, great room with view over courtyard, good shower, tea and coffee making facilities in room, huge comfy bed, spotlessly clean, free wi-fi, excellent breakfast - what's not to like

Review 63:Only negatives if we had to give any were that the shower hose was split in our room giving intermittent pressure and with a only single glazed windows you heard absolutely everything outside. Also would have been nice to have had a full set of toiletries in the bathroom, there was no conditioner or body lotion. None of this would stop us booking here again though.

Review 64:Staff were very accommodating and friendly and our room was beautiful. A more expensive guest house compared to others we looked at online but well worth it. Room was decorated beautifully and the bathroom was great! Right in the centre of Stow and a real treat for a night or 2 away. Would definitely recommend it.

Review 65:The hosts were very friendly and the rooms were very comfortable. The hosts upgraded us to an even better room than initially provided once it became available - at no extra cost! Memorable experience.

Review 66:Staff is friendly and helpful, but perhaps also a bit (too) distant and impersonal.

Review 67:Great place, well decorated with excellent bathroom and spacious bedroom.

Review 68:the heat did not work in bathroom, very limited heat in bedroom (off at night) shower head leaked badly, shower stall floor very slippery

Review 69:We really enjoyed the location the breakfast was very good, left sandwiches for morning we left early for airport.

Review 70:Although as stated, it was a beautiful room, there were a lot of steep, winding stairs to climb and the bedroom and bathroom had low, sloping ceilings. Lost count of how many times we banged our heads!

Review 71:Beautiful room, friendly staff, good breakfast, super location.

Review 72:Host was very friendly & helpful, room was spacious, newly renovated & very comfortable. Location was central. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Stow!

Review 73:A shower cap would have been useful (a lady thing) not wanting to wash hair every time showered.

Review 74:Very conveniently placed to visit the town. Parking was easy nearby after the parking times limit is restricted i.e. after 6pm

Review 75:Lovely town, great eating places, room was on the small side but being a solotraveller did not worry me heating good and nice hot water, bed was very comfortable, overall very nice stay.

Review 76:There is nothing not to like.

Review 77:The staff were very friendly and welcoming to this lovely newly refurbished property. The quaint cafe had the most delicious cakes and pastries and a great selection of drinks. Our room (number 3) was huge and beautifully decorated. The king sized bed was very comfortable too. The little corridor that leads to the very large bathroom was unique. And that bathroom!! Wow! Corner bath, large shower and quality toiletries... Luxury. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice. I can't see how anyone could have any negative comments at all.

Review 78:Nothing

Review 79:Very quaint B&B above a tea room. Room was very big and fantastic huge comfortable bed!! Everything was clean and well decorated. Just reopening tearoom so just finishing decorating downstairs but did not disturb us at all. Would highly recommend!!

Review 80:Unfortunately, the B&B was being refubrished during our stay, which made it impossible to stay at the garden nor even have breakfast at the B&B. We were sent to a place across the road to have breakfast which they had arranged for us. Despite being able to sort this inconvenience out, we were fully disappointed with it. It was weird and ackward when we first arrived because everything in the downstairs area was untidy, and the kitchen and the dinning area weren't nowhere ready for the following morning, as they had promised us after seeing how puzzled our faces were to see all the mess. They should have let us know in advance, so we could decide whether to go or not. Great shame!

Review 81:The room upstairs was excellent! Really comfy and spacious, everything spik and span, looking newly-refubrished and attention to detail.

Review 82:On arrival tea rooms were being renovated - were not informed of this prior to arrival even when called that morning. We were awoken at 08:30 by loud drilling and banging. On informing staff of our unhappiness, we were just presented with a shrug and a card machine to pay. Real shame as it was such a lovely place. Wont be staying again.

Review 83:Room and location were perfect.

Review 84:It was very windy during the night and we were sometimes woken by the butcher's sign outside banging against something. The bathroom ideally needs a bathmat.

Review 85:The room was very clean and comfortable and we particularly liked the bathroom which was linked by an interesting little corridor. Breakfast at Treebus across the road was first class. Free parking from 6.00 p.m. until 11.00 a.m within a few minutes walk.

Review 86:Tea shop on main floor was being renovated. HAd to walk through there and up narrow winding stairs to third floor room. No apologies given. No parking. Had to park on side street several blocks away for free parking.

Review 87:Cute room on third floor and modern bath.right in middle of town which is fun to walk around.

Review 88:The tea rooms were closed for refurb so we had to stand in the freezing cold and wait to be let in and had to go across the road to a different tea room for breakfast.

Review 89:Great Shower, large room

Review 90:Not a bad experience but due to refurbishment we could not sample their excellent breakfast ,

Review 91:We liked the interior design of the room and bathroom quirky little passageway to the bathroom . the different large dekles on the wall and monkeys in the wall paper .all exceptionally clean

Review 92:This was so much more than a little tea room. Really enjoyed our stay. Hospitality of owner and staff was excellent even though they were renovating the property

Review 93:They were having work done to the tea room (which we were unaware of). This meant loud drilling early in the morning and during breakfast!

Review 94:Nice room and spotlessly clean in lovely location

Review 95:nothing

Review 96:The room was lovely, good bed, nice people and good food, well situated in the village, low ceilings and a beam lovely bathroom, nice distressed furniture

Review 97:There was nothing bad about the experience at all. I think that guests would need to be extremely and unreasonably difficult to please, not to think that this was great value for money in a lovely part of England.

Review 98:This B and B was absolutely first-class in all respects. The room was really large and the king-size bed really was king-size! And not only that, but it was really comfortable, too! The bathroom was lovely, large and super clean and the breakfast was excellent. The location, about 100 m from the town square, was ideal. The price also represented excellent value for money and the Internet connection was super simple and free. This was an excellent package.

Review 99:Not really a dislike but you had to mind your head in some parts.

Review 100:Bed was very comfortable, slept like a log, and the breakfast was freshly made and very tasty. As my husband said it's very homely!

Review 101:Minor negative, parking in the village subject to restrictions. But didn't cause us any specific problems.

Review 102:Everything. Staff great, room big and comfortable (we had the smaller one). No issues with noise.

Review 103:Low ceiling's and door lintel. We are not tall but someone taller would have problems! Shower was awkward to use.

Review 104:Location was excellent, very convenient for the shops, bars and restaurants. Nice big bed. Tea and coffee in the room. Cleanliness.

Review 105:- Door knob was so loose it pulled off every time you tried to use bathroom door - Shower leaked very badly. The hose was damaged and the shower screen was not correctly fitted

Review 106:- Great location - Very comfortable bed

Review 107:The location was wonderful, the b & b was both modern and traditional. The staff are the most friendly i have ever met. Would i return, i most definately would

Review 108:Wooden floors so would be nice to have a rug by the bed and a mat in the bathroom.

Review 109:Situated right at the heart of everything ! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had bath and shower perfect ! Food delicious. Will definitely visit again and have already recommended to others.

Review 110:zilch, zero, zip.

Review 111:Absolutely everything, this place is being renovated and the couple doing it with their designer are doing nothing short of amazing. The rooms are to die for, from the furniture, bathroom and oh yes the murals. Truly a beautiful stay. I want to live there :)

Review 112:Room was cool. Although there was a radiator in the room, there was no way of turning it on. I had mentioned that I felt the room was cold on arrival, and was told the owner would be informed, but nothing happened. Only one chair for seating. As our room was over the butcher shop attached, there was a lot of noise from refigration throughout the night and at 7am workers arrived. The seating next to the shop counter for breakfast was not relaxing.

Review 113:Comfortable room with well appointed bathroom. Handy for all facilities in Stow. Helpful staff.

Review 114:We could not have shower or proper washing in the morning due to no hot or even warm water in the tabs. We reported the problem but it had not been solved for the time being (there was hot water in the evening though). There was no continental breakfast option on the menu. A small window broken and unable to close although we did not have problems because of the mild weather.

Review 115:The room was excellent, spacious and very clean with drink facilities provided. The bathroom was a match with a large very powerful shower. Breakfast was very good and staff friendly and helpful. We didn't have any problems with outside street noise. We stayed in the room on the top floor. We would recommend this B&B to everyone.

Review 116:Poor wifi connection in the bedroom but it was good in the tearoom. No parking on property but a couple of options are within 5 min. walk. There is space to unload your luggage and then drive to parking.

Review 117:Location was perfect! Right in the middle of everything. Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Staff very accommodating and cordial. Would definitely stay again!

Review 118:Nothing!

Review 119:We had a brilliant stay. Very clean rooms. We were given a large suite with a huge Queen size bed and our own large bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful, well presented, cooked and very tasty. Will definitely return.

Review 120:There are only two rooms available in this cozy B&B; if you're tall be sure to request the front room since a person over 6 feet tall will have difficulty standing in the room at the back.

Review 121:Great location with nearby parking. Beautiful outdoor garden area with seating for meal or drinks in addition to indoor tearoom.

Review 122:TV a little small - if that size not necessary. Toilet needed cleaning - saw soiling when in the bath!

Review 123:Loved the rustic and quaint feel. Bed leant to right due to uneven floor.

Review 124:Closes public Parking is in carpark 200 metres away with two hour limit during day so plan to arrive at 4pm and leave before 11am to avoid fines or park further away.

Review 125:Very close to shops, restaurants etc. staff friendly and helpful.

Review 126:The door to the room at the top of the stairs is no more than about 5'2" so can be hazardous to your cranium. There is also a beam at about 6" in the room. The mattress was not the best with the edges sinking.

Review 127:It was lovely, clean and cute. We called it our Hobbit suite. The other room we glanced into was larger and a mite higher, but was on the street side and the other guests mentioned noise. The people were very nice and the breakfast delicious.

Review 128:For a longer stay (more than 1 night), I would have probably gone with a location that had a higher ceiling and door frames. My husband (6'3") felt like he could never stand up straight.

Review 129:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was right off the main square of town. It was perfect for the one night we spent there.

Review 130:I do not like memory foam beds, my partner loved it thou. I just find them to soft for me.

Review 131:Everything was very good. Would return as we enjoyed it that much. A big thankyou.

Review 132:There was nothing we did not like.

Review 133:Staying at the Cotswold Tea Rooms was lovely. The staff were very friendly and they went out of their way when I asked them to arrange a present on arrival for my husband. Breakfast was very good and it was a pleasure to eat it outside in the courtyard. The rooms are charming and very clean. We would definite stay here again.

Review 134:Excellent location, 1 min from the main square. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Must try their home-made scones!!! They are the best I've had so far!

Review 135:The tea room doesn't have chip and pin and as a result my card was blocked (my bank suspected fraud, as the number was entered manually). Had to spend half an hour on the phone to unblock it. This was our only criticism.

Review 136:Fantastic location, very friendly staff, excellent breakfast and beautiful room. We had a very relaxing three days.

Review 137:There's no car park, but having said that, we didn't have a problem finding spaces in the street. You may not like the room if you're tall. Low beams!

Review 138:Very pretty room, very cosy, country cottage feel. Nice size ensuite with bath and powerful shower. Fabulous, quality breakfast in the tearoom with friendly staff.
