Reviews for Queen's Hotel

Review 1:It may not be flashy or ultra-modern, but the welcome is warm, the rooms are clean and comfy and you get a hearty Scottish breakfast to set you up for the day. The sea-front location is perfect and buckets of parking space too.

Review 2:Its a little dated. Heating clicks every 10minutes from 5 am waking you up. Toilet had water hammer( easy to fix) Breakfast had boiled mushroom rather than fried and although the actual plate was hot the breakfast wasnt.

Review 3:Staff were nice. Its was clean. The view from the room was brilliant

Review 4:Hotel was quiet, room and bathroom were clean and comfortable and the view on to the bay and beyond was a treat. I enjoyed my breakfasts - Mr Di Angelis makes good porridge

Review 5:It would have been nice to have some entertainment in the lounge. As it's an older hotel, the shower could do with being upgraded.

Review 6:Old hotel, but comfortable. Such great value for dinner bed and breakfast. A short walk from the shops, but means it's a bit quieter. Friendly staff. Food was delicious. Lovely sea view from our bedroom.

Review 7:Older Hotel so in need of a little modernisation. Squeaky floorboards so felt I might be disturbing the guests below.

Review 8:Great location, lovely breakfast and staff friendly. Free parking and within easy walking distance of the centre.

Review 9:Evening meal from the menu was deep fried. Restricted alcohol menu. Décor in room is dated and could do with updating.

Review 10:View was good. Difficult to get accommodation at the time due to high season and this hotel was available.

Review 11:Everything was perfect, if I was to have a bad comment it was that there was no wifi

Review 12:Staff were very accommodating & friendly. We made a mistake with our booking only but they were only happy to help change it to suit us

Review 13:Hotel is tired and in need of some upgrading.

Review 14:Location was good. Staff were very pleasant and approachable. Breakfast was great, with a varied choice. Plenty of outdoor space & car parking.

Review 15:The attitude of the woman serving at reception, bar and breakfast had a very abrupt attitude. No rose or white wine behind the bar, no atmosphere and dos not make you feel welcome at all. Stayed at the queens a few years back and was great atmosphere it's obviously changed hands as the staff one woman in question needs to go on a customer relations course of she wants to the place and customers to return to the hotel. Tv room was ok we had our the radio on for some music and she came in and turned it off when we where the only people sitting in the place. Very rude, and having no wine in a hotel of such is bad news for me.

Review 16:The location

Review 17:When I booked it showed only 1 room available, and a bar, with a bath.So I thought it would be busy!! Nobody comes here!! I made a hugemistake. I thought if I paid more I would get more!! When I arrived ithad no bath only a shower. I was the only guest on the Friday night andthen only 1 couple on Sunday and Monday morning. Nobody in the bar onFriday or Saturday night. There was dry blood on the sheets of my doublebed, which I thought they would change, but the did not change it, so Islept in the single bed. It was awkward to talk about over breakfastand I was in a hurry to have a conversation about this with them. Ialso booked this hotel as it advertised free WiFi internet ( I neededthis for my course work) but the internet did not connect and when Iasked they said sorry this happens sometimes and offered no solution tome other than there was a restaurant down the road that may have. Iwould at least have tried to help this guest as this was the mainreason for booking and really needed it. You would think they wouldhelp. The hotel looks like it has not changed for the last 60 years. Ithink they are still expecting Queen Victoria to still arrive, she maybe impressed but not modern society. I almost felt sorry for the ownersas they seem stuck in time....A Very sad experience .....I do not wishupon anyone else....

Review 18:Nothing!

Review 19:Nothing I didn't like, rooms could be updated a little.

Review 20:We arrived early and were able to check in which was great! Had a wedding get ready and attend so was great the hotel could accommodate this. Lovely location. Rooms/bathroom could do with a bit of modernisation however wouldn't mark it down. Had a lovely stay and breakfast was brilliant!

Review 21:I arrived down Bar/Dining Room at 7.30pm for an evening meal and was informed that the chef had departed for the evening as they had a early function on that evening and was no longer serving food. If this had been communicated at breakfast that morning I would have rescheduled my day and arrived for a meal earlier. They where able to provide me with a choice of either fish and chips or scampi and chips. However no starter or desert.

Review 22:Location of the Hotel

Review 23:Breakfast meal was two days old and barely warm with little aftercare.we really felt we had inconvenienced staff just by being there and couldn't wait to leave.

Review 32:Warm welcome upon arrival. Room very clean. Tea and coffee making facilities. our alarm failed to wake us potentially making us late for an appointment. They kindly provided full English breakfast in the bedroom for us. Prices are very reasonable.

Review 33:A very trivial fault on one of the sockets where the plug wouldn't go in.

Review 34:Owners and their family were lovely. Clean room. Strong hot shower. Pleasant toiletries. Sheet, blanket and bedspread reminded me of my childhood. Nice soft pillows. Spare quilts available if required. Freshly cooked breakfast.

Review 35:Plenty of drawer and wardrobe space for storage, but the bathroom was about as small as it could be, with nowhere to lay out cosmetics etc and a very noisy ventilator fan.

Review 36:Friendly welcome, great view over the sea, clean comfortable room and bathroom, only 10 mins on foot along the esplanade from the town centre. Pleasant and attractive public rooms.

Review 37:The hotel is just fine but certain things could do with a bit updating. i.e. stair carpet and some of the curtains.

Review 47:Staff were friendly and helpful. Were able to give us early access to our rooms - to get ready for a wedding - at no extra cost.
