Reviews for Willowbank Hotel

Review 1:Finishing a little dated and the shower was poor boiling or cold a little not enough tea and coffee in the rooms. over priced for what was available

Review 2:Clean and comfortable , breakfast nice but basic

Review 3:The bathroom was very dated and the shower virtually useless. The water trickled out and it was impossible to get correct temperature.

Review 4:The location and breakfast.

Review 5:For the type of holiday we required on this occasion, the Hotel was really of the highest order. I should however explain that I am answering this questionaire on behalf of my wife (Gladys) and myself.

Review 6:Generally rather old fashioned in style and decor. Beds o k but could be more comfortable. Cold tap on bath/shower inoperable.

Review 7:Plenty of parking space. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Good sized bedroom.

Review 8:The price for one night's bed and breakfast for two people was £110. The decor was circa 1980s with mismatched carpets and wallpaper. The room had a worn carpet in need of cleaning, a turquoise bathroom suite and shoddy furnishings. There were no blinds so the cheap curtains did not block out any light. There was a coach party in so they must overcharge individual travellers to subsidise coach parties. Extremely poor value.

Review 9:Convenience is the only plus point of this hotel.

Review 10:No hot water on arrival. Bathroom and shower very dated, holes in the bath panel. Shower was mixer type off bath taps with flexible pipe up wall. When water was hot pressure just a dribble out of shower head.

Review 11:Location

Review 12:Not enough tv channels on tv in my room.

Review 13:The food was excellent and even with a large coach party having dinner the waiting time was very minimal. Friendly efficient staff.

Review 14:Decor a little dated although in good condition. Nets in street facing rooms would be good.

Review 15:Unique 60's looking with really pleasant, helpful staff. Clean and tidy with a welcoming feel. Would happily rebook. A great base to see the area.

Review 16:Often have functions in their spacious restaurant/dining area at lower back of hotel so secure room nearer front & join the celebration

Review 17:Wonderful friendly people in a comfortable hotel in an old scottish seaside town.Rooms are older but a good size.Bar welcoming & plenty of parking. The hug goodbye from staff priceless!

Review 18:The hotel was alright if you were over the age of 60 and to be honest smelt of old people. Would visit here again. This hotel was actually more expensive than the modern Brisbane hotel which was further up the road. Plus the TV in the room didn't work

Review 19:There was everything you needed in the room it was just old

Review 20:Unfortunately the weather was not good but there is nothing you can do about that.

Review 21:Good location about 10minutes walk from town centre. Excellent service, friendly and very helpful staff and excellent food.

Review 22:We stayed here to be close to Glasgow - only an hour by train. Hotel is dated and in need of updating, particularly in the bathrooms. However, the staff are really helpful and friendly, the rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfasts were good although a bit limited in choice. We enjoyed our stay despite feeling we had gone back in time!

Review 23:A small fridge in the room might have been useful

Review 24:Helpful, friendly staff. They were very accommodating of our unusual movements- travelling in to Glasgow for Commonwealth Games so very early starts requiring breakfast trays etc. Comfortable room.

Review 25:we liked everything,,so no comments in this dislike box,,

Review 26:Had an excellent stay at Willowbank hotel. The staff were outstanding and happy to help in every way. The hotel was quiet and nice and clean. our room was cleaned every day when we were there. Breakfast was great and just enough to set you on your day. Paul and Alison and other staff were brilliant and always happy in which makes your day worth while. It was good going to breakfast and seeing there happy faces and great sence of humour. During our stay we never heard any noise whats so ever it was nice and relaxing, We would go back and stay as really enjoyed the hotel and the staff. Edinburgh couple Tracey and roger.

Review 27:Dated decorand like an old peoples home, we fitted in nicely .LOL

Review 32:WE HAVE STAYED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE AS FAMILY LIVE NEARBY.AND I REMEMBER THE AREA FROM MY CHILDHOOD.

Review 49:The friendly welcome & location of hotel.

Review 50:accommodation poor orange OR cornflakes? Needs total refurb and clearly serves very elderly on coach trips

Review 51:staff friendliness

Review 52:Walls between rooms are not well sound insulated. We were kept awake by our neighbour who played the TV loudly late and early and snored loudly in between. Would have appreciated more breakfast choice - eg fresh fruit and fish options.

Review 53:Staff very welcoming and personable; our room was of good size, clean and of good decoration. Although a little way out of town there are bus stops right outside.

Review 54:wasn't very happy with the shower in room 12.

Review 55:I had a enjoyable 3 days stay, the staff were both professional and friendly. The food, breakfasts, Lunches and dinners were exclent.

Review 56:Only there one night and all was well, decor does need to be updated to enjoy a long stay.

Review 57:Away from the bustle of Largs, still close enough to walk in.

Review 58:had to ask for soap, no iron/trouser press facilities.

Review 59:clean rooms, great staff, comfortable bed, not too far out from largs but not central which was great. can't wait to return.

Review 60:Only thing I would like to see is the old style avocado green bathroom suits changed to fresh white.

Review 61:The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The hotel was perfectly located for our needs and was very clean and tidy.

Review 62:The only issue that I had was no wifi in the rooms and I needed this for my calling plan to the states to avoid international rates. Wifi is available in lobby/resto areas, and was told that they will be adding this to the rooms soon.

Review 63:The staff here are amazing. They were so kind and hospitable; you can tell that they truly enjoy their work in the industry and care about your experience. I saw many of the same faces throughout my visit and that added to the comfort and experience. No one was ever too busy to have a quick chat or help me out. I was traveling alone, and it was so nice having friendly faces around. The hotel is a bit older in decor, but it is so well kept and clean that everything is in "like new" condition--super well maintained. The location is a bit out of central Largs, but is nice and quiet and only a minute's walk or so to the shore. Breakfast was good and hearty. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

Review 64:Loved this hotel, big comfortable rooms, staff were all friendly and helpful. Looks like it has been kept with the same décor style since the 50's or 60's but nothing worn or tatty about it. Looks great! Like being in an episode of Mad Men ;-)

Review 65:Situated at the quiet northern end of Largs, the Willowbank Hotel provides an excellent touring base for the Ayrshire Coast. The charming and very helpful Staff made our break a treat. Meals were excellent and the Dinner Dance on Saturday evening rounded off a superb stay !
