Reviews for Copenhagen Star Hotel
Review 1:There was a funny smell in the stairs
Review 2:The location was excellent. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was amazing - hot and powerful. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice.
Review 3:Tiny rooms, not the best staff. I would try to find somewhere else next time. I guess you get what you pay for is the best way to describe this hotel so don't pay much.
Review 4:If you want to be close to the train station it is close to it. That makes it far from everything else though
Review 5:Everything was great !!
Review 6:Jais was at the reception. He welcomed us with a smile and warmth and a card trick for my son which we were just looking forward to after long travel. The staff in general gave us all the information we wanted and it was a sweet trip becoz of how comfortable Jais made it for us. thank you very much. I will definitely return with my son one day !!!
Review 7:A little crowded during lunch. Staff did not point out that there is extra fee when paying with credit card.
Review 8:Quite comfortable accommodation for one or two night stay. Clean, warm, nice TV.
Review 9:Cold room due to dodgy window, though the rest of Copenhagen is so cold it feels boiling. Lack of availability of plug points
Review 10:Easy to check-in and out, good shower, big room, great location, great value.
Review 11:1) We had coffee/tea making facilities in our room but there was no tea. On the other hand, I saw that they sell coffee and tea at the reception area. 2) It is very noisy in the room during the night if it is raining outside.
Review 12:The location is great, close to Copenhagen Central Station.
Review 13:Very basic room. Cleanliness poor. Blood stain on quilt. Radiator didn't work so room was freezing and almost hit head on sloping ceiling every time you got out of bed! Not great at all!
Review 14:A little dated. Thought it was more of a 2 1/2 star hotels vs 3. Bathroom shower is one of those with no lip so water gets everywhere
Review 15:Close to Central Station. Reasonable price for room that sleeps 3. Bed was comfortable.
Review 16:The lift system is antiquated and needs modernisation and the shower in 422 is not the best with a very clingy curtain.
Review 17:The location is literally 3 mins walk from the central train station, the staff very friendly and welcoming and super helpful.
Review 18:Small room but for the price and location - no complaints
Review 19:Location Next to Central Railway Station and close to centre of city. Breakfast was a good selection of cold meats / cheeses/ cereals/ fruit and bread.
Review 20:The staff never smiled, especially the reception staff, any time we spoke to other tourists they all were complaining that the reception staff were very grumpy and unfriendly, SORRY BUT ITS TRUE, THEY NEED TO SMILE AND MAKE US FEEL WELCOME. INSTEAD THEY MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR INTRUDING IN THEIR LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!! If you sort out the grumpy reception staff then your on your way to improving things a lot. God Bless.
Review 21:Excellent Location. Very friendly cleaning staff. Clean rooms. Comfy beds. But very grumpy reception staff. SORRY BUT ITS TRUE, THEY NEVER SMILE THE GRUMPY MINX'S . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 22:Advertised as a 3 star hotel, but resembles a crappy hotel all the way from staff, rooms, bar?!, breakfast. Hotel only has one star when we arrive. To enjoy your stay at this hotel you probably need to be very forgiving and possibly a little drunk.
Review 23:...
Review 24:Hidden charges like credit card charges above the all inclusive final value mentioned by booking.com
Review 25:Excellent location from where I could walk to most tourist places. Just beside central station which is great
Review 26:There was an extractor fan in the room that came on at random times and couldn't be turned off. It was loud enough to be disturbing. Room could have done with redecorating.
Review 27:Friendly and helpful staff, excellent location. Great burgers in the restaurant.
Review 28:Lack of parking, but hardly the hotels fault, that close to the main station in a European capital parking will always be difficult.
Review 29:Location, the purpose of our visit was a trip to Tivoli. The Star is ideally located. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 30:1. Black hair inside fresh towel 2. Black hair on the bathroom floor 3. Disgusting smell in the room, we supposed that smell goes from bathroom, smells like lame old water 4. No shampoo )))
Review 31:Close to Railway station. Probably the lowest price in this area during our visit time.
Review 32:The queuing when I arrived and the crowded breakfast place.
Review 33:The location next to the main railway station is just optimal for one flying to Copenhagen and staying in the centre. It is an old and somewhat worn-out hotel. My room was small but clean. Breakfast was ok but the place was really full.
Review 34:Bathroom way too small, couldn't open the door without hitting the sink or the toilet, shower curtain too short. Mattress really thin but i guess it depends on what you are used to.
Review 35:Perfect location, close to train station and Tivoli park. Nice breakfast, had everything you might want to eat (cheese, ham, yogurt, jam, cereal, milk, coffee, tea, etc). Warm blankets (perfect for the December weather!).
Review 36:Staff was rather slow or not really concentrating in their service. Needs a bit of maiteinance, but not, that it is falling apart. I did order a child bed to my room upon booking, but had to go and remind several times on the spot before delivered.
Review 37:Hotel was easy to find; public computer available; maps and town info; rather quiet. Overall - basic but good.
Review 38:the room was a bit scruffy, you could tell the furniture was chipped, the carpets quite old and marked, overall not the most recent style. Being so close to the station, at night you could tell there were some dubious people around- but we stayed at the top floor and it was perfectly quiet. Breakfast was additional, we decided to skip and just go to one of the local bakeries, it was about 9 GBP/person which pays for a decent breakfast out, too.
Review 39:location is very convenient for the Station and the city centre (Tivoli is a 5' walk, if not less). It's no frills, but clean.
Review 40:As soon as you step outside at night you are confronted with fairly aggressive prostitutes and their pimps! They seem to be on every corner.
Review 41:Very close to main station, clean rooms.
Review 42:Small rooms, bathroom with shower curtain, extra charge (2,5%) because of paying with visa creditcard (visa is very common to pay with i think) Neighbourhood at night is packed with prostitutes and dealers.
Review 43:Close to Central Station Copenhagen
Review 44:Couldn't hire a bike until check in. We arrived early.
Review 45:We stayed one night, it was close to the station and Tivoli Gardens. Most staff were helpful.
Review 46:The shower cubicle was a little on the small size and the water ran out into the bathroom.
Review 47:Liked the location of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. The rooms were clean if a little basic Nice to have a kettle in the room.
Review 48:really central for all the attractions and close to railway station with easy access to the airport. Would stay here again and will recommend to friends
Review 49:Poor breakfast with no hot meals (except boiled eggs). You can't check in and get a room earlier than 3 p.m. We came at 12.30 p.m. and still didn't get the room, receptionist said there are no available rooms. Moreover, in the lobby there were sitting approx. 10-15 people also waiting for rooms and luggage room was full of bags. Upon arrival the receptionist asks for the credit card and if you don't have it, they take payment in advance AND deposit of 50 euros. Moreover, they don't give you any receipt on that deposit, they just put money in envelope and take it to the drawer. The staff is not helpful. There are no toiletries in the bathroom. You can find just liquid soap near the sink and in the shower and in our case the dispenser of the soap in the shower was broken. The windows are leaky, so in the windy weather it was pretty cold in the room. Also there are no additional pillows or blankets. If you get a room to the street side, it is very noisy from ~7 a.m.
Review 50:Free and pretty fast wi-fi all over the hotel. Good location, near the railway station.
Review 51:Nothing to dislike.
Review 52:Location of the hotel was excellent. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Yeah, there was only one plug in the room but haven't we all got power packs now. Hotel room was extremely comfortable, shower was top notch. The Copenhagen star hotel was perfect for its location for open top bus tours and railway station. Plenty of good places to eat nearby with Urban House across the road. Overall I thing the hotel contributed massively to an excellent city break. Also can I just mention the breakfast. I'm not a lover of continental breakfasts but I found the choice of coldmeats etc really enjoyable and the waiting on staff could not have been more attentative
Review 53:breakfast a bit crowded and chaotic. soap dispenser not replaced despite being reported ; tea and coffee not replaced one day
Review 54:staff friendliness and help. good food at breakfast
Review 55:Room was awful. Unattractive and cold. They tried to fix it to no avail so they brought a small space heater which helped
Review 56:Location was close to city sites and reataurants
Review 57:Watch out for the prostitutes in the surrounding streets - they're harmless enough but as it's so cold they're all wearing parkas so hard to spot/avoid
Review 58:FAB location - walk able to train station/Tivoli gardens/nightlife etc Staff to marks for friendliness and efficiency.
Review 59:The shower and bathroom were full of mould, it needed a good clean and scrub!! Only downfall though! It didn't bother me too much as I wasn't spending much time in the room.
Review 60:Staff were friendly. Room with 4 beds so we could all fit in the one room was good!
Review 61:Room very smelly (probably moquette not clean) ,the bathroom never cleaned in three days and the rubbish clean only the first day .the pavement of bathroom and the washbasin and the shower full of hair .
Review 62:Posizione
Review 63:Staff varied from unfriendly at arrival to very helpful and friendly Bathroom cleaning - hair left in shower from guest before us. Removed the last day.
Review 64:Location, price
Review 65:the receptionist was extremely rude, cold and impolite. Not sure if she was a racist or they jus keep staff that isn't unto the mark.
Review 66:the proximity to the central station, tivoli gardens, hyhavn etc.
Review 67:Can be a tad nosey late in the evenings as the clubs empty out and you are on the wrong side of the hotel or a light sleeper. Streets are dirty early morning and the "night walkers" give you reason to feel unsafe although you are not.
Review 68:Staff were friendly, amazing and very informed with great recommendations to shopping, site seeing and cuisine. Star Burger is a hidden gem within the hotel and has amazing food!
Review 69:The street of the hotel is not very attractive it has many night clubs and some prostitutes on the street at night.
Review 70:The location of the hotel is very near to the Tivoli Garden and main shopping streets. 5 to 10 minutes walk.
Review 71:Only five minutes from Central Train Station, which is only twenty minutes from the airport on the train. Close to Tivoli Gardens and easily walkable to most places in Copenhagen.
Review 72:The area at night is a little edgy.
Review 73:The hotel is in a good location, the train station and the shopping street is near, there are lots of dining opinions around.
Review 74:A bit old fashioned, small rooms, very simple breakfast. Shower is so small you have to shower with the shower curtain sticked to your body. Tobacco smoke comes inside the rooms.
Review 75:Very near the centralstation.
Review 76:Hotel located in unpleasant area walked up the road from hotel after 10pm and felt very uneasy with people hanging about street corners. Need to Keep to the other side of tke train station
Review 77:No late check out possibility for guests with late flight times.
Review 78:Close to the railway station and central for the city. Many good bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Review 79:Disappointment The hotel is advertised with a high discount. I thought the quality would be according/closer to the original price. The discounted price should be the standard price.
Review 80:Excellent location just minutes from the main train station. Room was more than adequate and if your travelling on a budget would highly recommend this hotel
Review 81:It is in the prostitutes street and at night time it is not possible to get rid of them. More then 10 of them came to me and did not leave me alone no matter how I asked. There was no available plug in for electricity in the room. The look of the room and entrance is outdated.
Review 82:Cleanliness, good wifi, cool to offer the wifi out of the hotel thing.
Review 83:Apparently there had been an issue with the fire alarm system which caused it to go off during the first night of our stay. The fire brigade seemed to think this was avoidable. Also the end time listed for breakfast is seen as chucking out time rather than the end of breakfast service which came across as a bit petty and condecending especially after being forced to stand in a cold street for half an hour in the middle of the night. The decor could also be refreshed.
Review 84:Mostly friendly staff and a it served its purpose of being a good budget hotel well. Also the breakfast was of decent quality and I an quite picky with the quality of food.
Review 85:Shower was broken a bit but it worked anyway:)
Review 86:Really good location in only few minutes walk from Central station. Friendly personnel allowed us to check in before the check-in time. Many cafes, shops nearby. Tivoli park, town hall, Stroget st - all really close. In bright hotel room very convenient beds, quite normal wi-fi.
Review 87:rooms small, no view, very small bathroom (no bath) mould on floor, hit your head on the door handle when getting up from toilet this is not a 3 star hotel, stayed in 1 star hotels which were much better, breakfast poor, coffee dreadful
Review 88:the location was good which is why we picked the hotel, very little noise
Review 89:Breakfast seating area is very congested when the hotel is busy!
Review 90:Excellent location for walking! Very close to Tivoli and Train Station! Room to lock up luggage if required! Nice staff! Good breakfast!
Review 91:the smallest bathroom which was not clean - curtains was old with holes in it - The reception was unfriendly - blocked 20% extra on my card and I got a very unfriendly " you will get the money back in 3 working days" -Horrible place
Review 92:Only the location
Review 93:More places for electricity to charges your devices as cellphone. A little bit to crowded in the breakfast room.
Review 94:The closeness to the central station
Review 95:At the reception desk we were treated with disrespect and dislike. We were polite and friendly but during the check-in, hotel personel treated us like we were some refugees not having the right to enter such a luxury hotel (which is not, look as the photos). Woman who was serving us was almost sure that we will destroy something in the room. At the checking-out, she didn't even asked us how did we like our stay. I was surprised as I thought that people in Denmark are friendly and polite - I would never expect someone working at the hotel to be hostile towards guests.
Review 96:Location was ok.
Review 97:The bed was ok but the duvet is a bit on the small size so I took the duvet of another bed and laid them at 90 degrees.
Review 98:The hotel is located a short distance from the central railway station, which is only a short journey from the airport. I have stayed in a few Copenhagen hotels and, in my opinion, is as good as those costing significantly more. I found the staff helpful and speak very good English. There is a restaurant (more of a cafe) that does serve a limited range of food in the evenings and a good cold breakfast. there are many other restaurants and cafes close to and inside the station. The rooms are basic but ok for a short stay. My room had a double bed, a single plus bunks. Ok, there are paper cups for your coffee but who doesn't carry their coffee around in a takeaway cup?
Review 99:Shower and toilet is very very small and some mould had built up around the grouting of the tiles. Only enough tea and coffee for 2 drinks even though 5 cups and 10 stirrers were provided each day . Decor could do with a refurb in the rooms. Outside the hotel doors was rife with prostitution and drugs
Review 100:Staff were very pleasant.
Review 101:We had requested an early check-in but were told it was not available when we arrived, however the did have a luggage storage area.
Review 102:The hotel is located within walking distance from the central train station, but I recommend taking a taxi if you're not very familiar with the area. The room was compact, but clean. The bed was two twins pushed together. The breakfast buffet was good, but hot foods are very limited. The location is very good with several nice restaurant just down the street. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the Travli Gardens and tour bus pick up location. .
Review 103:Reception staff ok but rather a cool welcome. Kettle provided in room but only a couple of paper cups. Decor was tired and room needed redecorating, holes left unfilled in wall where something had been removed, etc.
Review 104:Breakfast was good and plentiful and breakfast staff were very friendly (foreign students?)
Review 105:Some of the staff weren't very nice. Room was ok, but the shower was very small. We had a 50% off discount, but we still found it a little bit too expensive for that kind of room.
Review 106:Excellent location. Very clean.
Review 107:The hand basin in the bathroom was badly discoloured and scratched and there were no bath mats and bath towels very small
Review 108:Location, safety and the fact theasasarestaurant serving nice food cheaply
Review 109:Size of room. We had one on the 5th floor with sloping ceiling. Shower very small.
Review 110:Very close to central railway station and Tivoli World. Good breakfasts.
Review 111:Boy who was working at hotel reseption. I was in front of him and tried to get lift work for 5 minutes but he didn't came for help. Ultimately i got lift start. Same problem in the morning after breakfast but this time i got help because there was another person. She was girl. She told me that they have problems with lift.
Review 112:Location was good.
Review 113:It was unbelievably expensive, over £300 per night, for a hotel which should really be about £50 per night. The room was very basic, a so-called double-bed, a desk which had the vinyl peeling off and obviously a shower with curtain that was old and well used. At night time, i was approached by prostitutes who tried to get into the hotel, and the hotel is surrounded by dodgy characters. The reception staff were disinterested. The waitress in the cafe adjoining the hotel was pleasant. I could go on...
Review 114:Checking out of the hotel
Review 115:The room was super cramped. The bathroom was tiny and the shower was very weird. There was a curtain around the shower area which was basically a shower head in the corner of the bathroom. They only gave us 2 towels, 2 hand towels. No toiletries were supplied, no facial tissues, no extra pillows, only 1 blanket and the heater was ineffective. The breakfast was mediocre. Instead of 3 star, I would rate the hotel as 2 star.
Review 116:The location was great. The staff was friendly.
Review 117:Staff could not get bill correct, smallest shower ever, no threshold between shower and rest of bathroom, crowd across street all night and wifi was iffy.
Review 118:Not much
Review 119:Unsavoury characters hanging around streets at night. Sons constantly approached by prostitutes and drug dealers.
Review 120:Nice hotel good amenities close to train station and Tivoli.
Review 121:Area hotel situated was poor as near sleazy clubs and hostels attracted down and outs.
Review 122:Room was good with skylight overlooking Tivoli gardens. Staff all pleasant. Breakfast excellent Good location near station
Review 123:The cleanliness leaves doubts as the bedsheets and towels were not changed and had some hair in the bed and pillow when I checked into the room. When contacted the reception to change the room or make up the room, I was told to come to reception and take new bedsheets to change myself! The internet is not stable, you have to log into very frequently, the speed is not fast. The space is very limited (wouldn't advise for Americans to stay there) and bathroom doesn't have soap or shampoo refilled although there are utensils to be used for that purpose (I had to buy them myself). The price is quite high if I compare to places of same quality. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again, unless it's last moment booking or all places are sold out.
Review 124:The location was excellent as it was approximately 100 steps from northern gate of Central Station. The surroundings is quite quiet.
Review 125:- weird smell (like bacon) in the room - very noisy ventilation system - bad temperature regulation - unpleasant smell in the bathroom - very small bed - WiFi extremelly slow - Staff forgot to order the taxi at the time specified - Some staff was able to take taxi order without looking once at me (rather impolite) - Rather limited choice for breakfast (although qulity was OK)
Review 126:Taxi can arrive in less than 3 minutes after your order it
Review 127:Great location close to Copenhagen Central Station. Easy to walk around the city from the hotel, although Nyhavn is probably 20 mins by foot. Rooms were clean and staff was excellent. All staff spoke perfect english and were very helpful. I would certainly stay here again.
Review 128:Besides I've fully paid my stay in advance, they have still blocked additional USD 45.00 from my card. For what nobody knows, they even do not have mini bar in their rooms.
Review 129:Staff & Location is great!
Review 130:We saw a cheaper rate online but hesitated and then we asked at the front desk if they would still give it to us. Of course they didn't, can't really fault them on that. If you see a rate of $100/500kr book it right away, it's a good one.
Review 131:I would give them 11/10 on cleanliness if I could. We stayed at the Hilton the night after this and the room at the Star was much cleaner. The Star is entirely adequate for the price and star rating.
Review 132:This hotel was not advertised like on the website page . Everything in the room was tight not much space . Wouldn't recommend staying here worst place ever . Even during the night as there are a lot of nightclubs around .
Review 133:Only the hygiene at the breakfast can be an challenge. Needs to have an urgent action.
Review 134:Just near to the train station, walking distance to the bus stations and Tivoli. Room, breakfast are great. We really enjoyed.
Review 135:The wifi connection was really poor. I could never connect with my laptop to the internet.
Review 136:The location is great you are right next to the main train station so can walk to all the attractions.
Review 137:1. The very late checkin; i understand they have to clean the rooms, but if they cant handle this faster maybe they shoul hire some more cleaning personal. They checkin us at 15:00 ... and the check out was at 11:00. Soon they will to checkins in the evening at checkout at the first our in the morning. 2. The room had a strange smell
Review 138:The location The bed The room size
Review 139:No toiletries in the room. Bed too soft. Cable TV not good choice of channels. Hotel Wifi not very reliable
Review 140:Excellent Staff. Very courteous and helpful. The 35 DKK take-your-wifi is very helpful
Review 141:The hotel is near the train station which makes it convenient. Also we asked for and received a really quiet room. The hotel is very well run in general.
