Reviews for Hedley Lodge Guest House

Review 1:Very tired and generally unwelcoming accommodation that appeared to be run by very young people. Couldn't use the fan in the shower as it was incredibly noisy. Shower was small. Curtain came off the rail in the bedroom. Draughty windows. Continental breakfast was whole apple, strawberries on their stalks and a pot of yoghurt.

Review 2:The Receptionist was lovely and doubled up as waitress in the breakfast area.

Review 3:The meal times were quite restrictive as well as short.

Review 4:We enjoyed our brief stay at Headley Lodge, the staff were polite and attentive and our spotless and comfortable.

Review 5:Everything was great - nothing bad.

Review 6:Great Staff and Location. The Abbey and the chance to attend the Monastic Offices in church were wonderful. Great Mass too! The gardens in the Monastic enclosure are beautiful. Perfect!

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:A beautiful setting and so peaceful and so interesting to read about and see the Abbey. Would definitely return. Lovely evening meal and perfect cooked breakfast.

Review 9:The bed should have been made to accomodate a couple and not two singles, the TV was not working, the cups tasted of dish water, the Breakfast was the worst we have ever tasted, these points spoilt the whole experience of the weekend to celebrate our 43rd anniversary.

Review 10:The location in a quite part of Hereford, in the grounds of the Abbey.

Review 11:Nothing really, but as an early riser (around 6 am) the bells from the adjacent abbey ringing 20 times at 6.30 am didn't bother me - it might bother other guests!

Review 12:Very quiet location, large rooms, comfortable bed, breakfasts were very good.

Review 13:We arrived at 7.05pm to be told that the dinner service stopped at 7pm, so we had to drive into Hereford for a meal.

Review 14:It was close to the football ground that we were playing on the following day.

Review 15:I arrived back to The Lodge about 9.10pm on one occasion and the Lodge was all in darkness and felt deserted. I had a key to the main front door but I do not remember anyone telling me that this key would also open a side door that would give me access to the stair lift. As I am disabled on that occasion I had to climb stairs to get to my room. For me this was quite distressing.

Review 16:The breakfast was excellent and lacked nothing. The bed was very comfortable and the room I had was More than adequate with plenty of hot drinks available.

Review 17:For obvious reasons, everywhere except the bedrooms has a real conference feel about it, so rather impersonal, which jarrs with the excellent hospitality from the staff.

Review 18:Spacious room with a comfortable bed and pleasant view. Everyone was very welcoming.

Review 19:Couldn't get on the WiFi. Fairly sure I booked a double room. Was given a twin room instead without explanation.

Review 20:Excellent location, helpful and friendly staff.

Review 21:Stayed here for one night as the B&B we stayed in the night before was fully booked. Shared a twin room with my mother in law. The setting is lovely, out in the countryside next door to the abbey. The rooms are quite basic, I think these are more like student accommodation than luxury B&B. the mattress on the bed was very soft and pretty uncomfortable. Light pollution was pretty high due to a skylight above my bed and during the night it rained very heavily which sounded like rice being poured on the skylight so pretty noisy. There is no through traffic so I think it would have been very quiet if it didn't rain. Breakfast was full English and was very filling and enjoyable.

Review 22:None.

Review 23:The hotel was in lovely surroundings next to Belmont Abbey and close to bus routes to Hereford city centre. Accommodation was very good and the room was very comfortable. Free WiFi was available and also freebies television. Would definitely go there again on any future visit.

Review 24:We didn't like the fact that our car was damaged overnight while we stayed in your hotel. An email is on its way to you. Your receiptionist should be able to give you details and has informed us that the area is covered by cctv and she would check for details.

Review 25:We enjoyed our stay with you except for the incident with the car. |Outcome of which will determine whether we stay with you again or likewise recommend to anyone else.

Review 26:No hair drier in room. No yogurt for standard breakfast even when requested. Only one waitress at breakfast. No lift. Only one pack of biscuits and one sachet of chocolate in twin room. No evening bar etc.

Review 27:Waitress was excellent despite being over worked. Staff were friendly. Peaceful location (I like the bells!). Well kept.

Review 28:Restaurant closes earlier than I would have liked. I was sent to a nearby pub for dinner when, after a very long day, I was hardly in the mood for driving the 6 minutes to get there after as many hours driving that day. I could not have a nice relaxing glass of wine either. TV with ridiculously small portable screen, which blinked an annoying blue light when switched off. I had to get out of bed and switch it off at the mains to get any sleep.

Review 29:Comfortable nice size room Plenty of parking outside Nice grounds Staff helpful

Review 30:Evening meal finishes at 7 No one on reception after 7. No bar facilities in the evening

Review 31:very clean and comfortable.Nice breakfast and unusual surroundings.

Review 32:Food only serv ed for a very short time in the evening; not a problem as food available within short driving distance.

Review 33:Clean, large bedrooms. Friendly staff. Good value for money; great place to stay for Hay Festival. Good pub food a short drive away.

Review 34:No adverse comments.

Review 35:Well presented in every respect. Staff very helpful and friendly. The dinner and breakfast options were good value and enjoyable. I would recommend Hedly to all.

Review 36:Grab handles at the bed head - we 're old but not that old . Certainly didn't detract from the stay.

Review 37:Comfortable beds and excellent breakfast and dinner during our week- end stay with the Civil Engineer's Walking Group

Review 38:was met by a lovely gentleman who didn't mind that I was late arriving, although the restaurant was closed, asked if I would like something to eat. Lovely clean room, the bed, a little too hard for me personally but that is just my preference. I am aware of other comments about the chapel bells but firstly youre next to an abbey, what did you expect?? and secondly I thought they were charming. Breakfast was fine and the staff were lovely. The gentleman (monk) came in and greeted me in the restaurant and wished me a safe journey - I was quite touched. I wished I'd had more time to look around as the abbey is beautiful. It is not the Hilton but doesn't claim to be, it is a charming hotel in a fabulous location, enjoy it for what it is

Review 39:There were nobody at the reception during 3 days. They did not clean the room during the day Tv did not work They dint sent me the invoice after contact them few times by mail.

Review 40:Nice place

Review 41:poor room, two single beds when we booked a double room, beds of poor quality, noisy, slabs creaking and early bell ringing. poor breakfast and organisation of tables, tables left unclean from previous guest.

Review 42:you could walk around the Abbey gardens, and the location was not far from the town

Review 43:The mattresses were a bit odd. Mine was comfortable but my husband's wasn't as much so.

Review 44:The room was spacious and I loved hearing the church bells. The breakfast was delicious.

Review 45:Shabby decor, uncomfortable bed, breakfast not ready at 8.00, no reception staff available in the evening after 9.00 or in the morning. Restaurant only open for 75 minutes early evening. No breakfast staff except the chef (who was late) Incessant tolling of church bell at 6.30 a.m. This place is just not set up properly as a hotel. Not surprising as it is a monastery (not mentioned in the blurb). I still haven't received my bill!

Review 46:Friendliness of reception staff when they were there

Review 47:Comfortable. Clean. Good food Pleasant staff

Review 77:The only negative feature of my stay was the rain!

Review 78:The hotel is excellent value for money. The room had plenty of storage space and was very clean.

Review 79:There was no evening meal after 7pm as a single traveller arriving after 7 this wasn't ideal

Review 80:Staff fantastic, friendly

Review 82:It was local to where I wanted to be

Review 83:nothing. All very good.
