Reviews for Ufford Park Hotel, Golf & Spa
Review 1:The restaurant food needs a real re-think. The menu needs scaling back and the quality upping to reflect better value for money.
Review 2:Helpful recepion staff, good external trail for walking around the perimeter of the site, nice pool and a good large bed!
Review 3:The only issue was that the heat in was on full blast which made the room over warm but other than that it was perfect
Review 4:Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Didn't use any of the facilities other than our room but the hotel looked well equipped and well maintained.
Review 5:Unfortunately there was a function on the night we stayed and it was unbelievably LOUD! I appreciate that functions are part and parcel of staying anywhere this time of year however we checked in with a young toddler and there was no mention of the fact there would be extremely loud music until the early hours of the morning which really we should have been told about as our room was shaking from the bass of the music so our little one pretty much cried all night and didn't sleep so this really put a dampener on things.
Review 6:The room was nice and big, very comfy bed, and we also had a balcony overlooking the golf course which was beautiful.
Review 7:Didn't have a bad experience with the stay - however I had booked a stay for the previous week as our new grandchild born but was very ill so had to unfortunately cancel - I lost our deposit ? . I would have hoped in those exceptional circumstances a refund could have been made - we were able to stay this weekend as grandchild allowed home . So really the company wouldn't have lost out but we did .
Review 8:Room was very comfortable and in relaxing surroundings . We are not golfers- our stay was to be near relatives.
Review 9:We were clearly in a twin room which had had the two single beds pushed together. The beds were rock hard. The restuarant was cramped and we didn't feel comfortable. When checking in, we were told that both menus were available in the restaurant however, when we went to dinner, we were informed that only the ala carte menu was available and we had to sit in the bar for the menu we actually wanted. They agreed to serve us the food we wanted but only after being made to feel like we had really put them out. Overall, I wouldn't pay £200 for this again. It ruined my partners birthday weekend!!
Review 10:The pool was ok I guess. Had a pretty good view of the golf course from our balcony
Review 11:We did not enjoy the night - we went for a quiet night to relax and there was a large party where we could not sleep. at no point were we warned about this.
Review 12:The room was lovely and very comfortable for the money.
Review 13:Given keys to room to check in. Approx 2pm. Got to room and not cleaned, or beds changed yet from previous guests
Review 14:Stayed many times. Great staff and a very welcoming hotel. Not a 'corporate' feel!
Review 15:The receptions, bars and dining areas has a feel and look of an Institution (Old Folks Home) and in need of a 'makeover'
Review 16:Facilities, location, value for money
Review 17:My only criticism, for want of a better word, would be that, because of it's location, the car park lighting streamed through the skylight above the bed preventing total room darkness. Not too much of a problem for me and therefore only an observation.
Review 18:The reception on arrival was very efficient. The overall impression of the hotel was of a well maintained and cared for premises with customer satisfaction strived for and achieved. The room was very clean and welcoming and I slept extremely well, not something that has come easy to me recently. I was very appreciative of the recommendation to use your hotel from a member of your ladies golf team, and would highly recommend you to others.
Review 19:No Sunday paper delivered as requested. The menu is not very extensive, very surprised that it was a carvery on a Saturday night. Breakfast on Sunday morning was really busy with a really long wait to get a table. Wife unable to get a spa treatment on the Sunday
Review 20:The room was small but pleasant with good views across the golf course enough for a 2 night stay, the food was good. The swimming pool facilities were good.
Review 21:Internet connection was poor for the business use that I required (it cut out regularly) lights in the room were fairly dim to work in. otherwise everything else was good.
Review 22:TV in the room could of done with being a bit bigger
Review 23:Lovely room, comfy bed and a balcony with my room overlooking the golf course. Great buffet breakfast too!!
Review 24:The staff were very attentive and helpful. The heating in our room wasn't working and they immediately moved us to a better room. They even helped move our things.
Review 25:Booked into a deluxe room for my partner's 50th birthday weekend away, but this was smaller than expected so we upgraded to a superior deluxe which was a lovely room, but it was situated right next to a stair case so all we heard all evening and night were people going up and down the stairs, which surprised us bearing in mind the price of the room. Also, we tried to book another night, but was offered no deal, bearing in mind it was for a Monday night and the hotel was very quiet. It was £20 cheaper to book it on line, but they wouldn't budge so we chose to leave and stayed in a lovely hotel in Woodbridge for half the price. Not sure I would go back now as we were disappointed the staff could not have been more flexible with the price of the room, bearing in mind we were loyal customers. Disappointing. Seckford Hall was cheaper as well and much nicer.
Review 26:The location is great and the facilities are good. Had fun on the driving range.
Review 27:Unfortunately my wife could not settle as the pillows were too high for two together but too low with just one, this due to an neck complaint she has.
Review 28:Good clean room and the breakfast was by far the best presented I have tasted in all the hotels I have stayed in.
Review 29:Noisy, inconsiderate fellow guests who talked in very loud voices from midnight until after 1am which disturbed the sleep of us and others.
Review 30:Room was very clean and comfortable with a good view out over the golf course.
Review 31:Room was tidy along with the bed. Double bed up against wall so hubby had to climb over to get out of bed. Bed very small for a double to fit two adults hence no sleep. Left feedback for manager to come back to me and 6 weeks later no responds from them.
Review 32:Facilities and views
Review 33:Bath was a little on the small side and the bed, although extremely comfortable, seemed to be shorter than a normal bed.
Review 34:Friendly staff, good location. Room had a beautiful view over the golf course.
Review 35:Veiw from balcony over long a roof Was at end room Was bit disappointing Would of liked no veiw of roof
Review 36:Lovely big bed Comfy Nice flat screen TV I'm wall Nice bathroom and shower
Review 37:Nothing negative based on this stay. Would certainly use again.
Review 38:Good value. Very pleasant room with view to golf course. Good standard of accommodation. More than expected for cost paid.
Review 39:Nothing wrong with hotel, but just too quiet for us,
Review 40:Nice room, with balcony looking over golfcourse. Nice breakfast, apart from on first morning there was a queue of people waiting for bacon & eggs to come out, which was slowly!
Review 41:Not a bad experience, but I do think the girls on the reception need a little more training on checking a guest in and greeting on arrival.
Review 42:We loved our room worth the extra money.
Review 43:Tribute band playing first night. We weren't attending but heard the base in our room. Wedding party second night as they returned to their rooms opposite ours. We had requested a quiet room on upper floor but were allocated this noisy room on ground floor. No availability to change.
Review 44:Easy access from car park. The friendly helpful staff that are what keeps this hotel going.
Review 45:no satellite tv as was advertised in our upgrade package. The shower tray filled up and did not drain quickly enough to keep up with shower. The room and hallway look well used and old this made them look unclean.
Review 46:The view
Review 47:Poor menu choice in restaurant. Carvery on all three days we stayed (despite being advertised in reception as a la carte on Friday evening). This was probably due to large golfing parties and the kitchen not being able to cope with the numbers. No lift to our 'premier' room on top floor.
Review 48:Size of room. View. Balcony. Staff friendliness.
Review 49:The bathroom stank of urine, the room was dusty in the corners and the mattresses uncomfortable. The windows didn't open and there was no aircon, just a ceiling fan to push round stale air. At breakfast the sausages were hard but otherwise the breakfast was OK.
Review 50:The toiletries in the bathroom were good quality and had separate shampoo and conditioner which is always appreciated. Bottles of water provided in the room is a nice touch. Wifi was good.
Review 51:I stayed here the night before my wedding with my maid of honour. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the spa facilities. Everyone is welcoming and it's very laid back. The view we woke up to was amazing! I liked it that much I took my new husband back the day after we got married for some time out.
Review 52:The internet wasn't working which was quite frustrating and although check-in time was 2pm our room wasn't ready until 2.30pm
Review 53:A beautiful setting, a very attractive hotel, plenty of parking close to the hotel and we loved the spa facility
Review 54:Only one bedside table and internet was down during the evening of our stay, thankfully back on the next morning.
Review 55:Lovely room with a balcony overlooking the golf course.
Review 56:One bad thing is the steps leading from the pool to the changing rooms are wet and have no grip. My partner fell down the steps injuring herself. When brought to the attention of the gym staff they did not actually call for a first aider, despite ensuring we completed an accident report form that asked for the the first aider.
Review 57:The staff were pleasant and very accommodating, bar was very welcoming after a long drive. The hotel was peaceful at night and views from the room were wonderful. The grounds are well kept and facilities are amazing.
Review 58:Friendly staff, lovely bright clean room. Nice touches like extra pillows in the wardrobe, good size mugs instead of the usual thimble size! Loved the pool /sauna.
Review 59:Previous room occupants had left food in fridge and cracked cup.
Review 60:Very impressed with hotel's staff (reception, bar, restaurant and spa). Nothing was too much trouble, very helpful.
Review 61:hard bed, flat pillows, expensive breakfast, didn't need a full buffet every morning for breakfast. Would have preferred a cheaper option for just cereal, yogurt, etc.
Review 62:One of the largest pools I have ever swum in a hotel, sauna, steam, great hot tub.
Review 63:Having to pay £20 for a round of golf when a four ball pays £12.50!! per person, I would have played early, circa 7am or late post 3pm the course was empty!! The golf staff could use a little initiative if as I was a guest paying £125 per night room only
Review 64:Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Review 65:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We left the hotel in the morning, spent some time at the seaside in Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. It was not before we got back home (around 200 miles away) when I realised that I left the casual shirt and trousers in the hotel wardrobe. I called the hotel and they posted the clothing to me, so i got them back within a couple of days. Thank you very much!
Review 66:No complaints whatsoever
Review 67:Excellent service, staff pleasant and very helpful. Meals presented well and always hot .did not get chance to use the spa and pool facilities but will certainly do so next time we stop there.
Review 68:we arrived at 4pm and the room was still needing to be checked by cleaning staff. Check in was at 2 pm. On close inspection the bathroom could have been cleaner, as there was dust along ridges and the back of the toilet was dusty also. There were cigarette stubs on the balcony
Review 69:excellent location, helpful and discreet staff. very good breakfast.
Review 70:Confusion over room bookings but staff did their best to sort it out and it was understandable as the hotel was very busy that weekend.
Review 71:Was there for a family wedding. Really enjoyed my stay, great facilities, spa, pool hairdresser etc, excellent staff - especially the night porter/handyman who set up an extra bed for us very quickly.
Review 72:The female staff working in the bar on Saturday evening were rude and unhelpful.
Review 73:The hotel was close to the places we wanted to visit and easily accessible from the A12
Review 74:Hotel facilities & service outdated. Room - furnishings in our room were worn and dirty. The sheets and bedding had hairs on them. The bathroom floor was dirty with hairs and other stuff. The pouring net of the kettle was broken beyond repair. We upgraded to a premier room. Much nicer - although not satisfied with the upgrade charge. The room was clean on both days. The shower was terribly calcified. There should be no difference in cleanliness standards between room categories. Room rates not in line with the entirety of the offered product. Breakfast - limited choice. No cheeses or cold cuts, eggs were not free range, no info on meat & dairy products. Foods were not labelled, no breakfast menus on tables. I was offered grated cheese when I asked one of the staff. Many staff around but did not seem coordinated. Our table filled up and no one took empty plates or asked for more coffee / tea. Tables were dirty even when not occupied. We had breakfast on day 1, and decided to skip the other days. Spa facilities - no comment - we did not use it after seeing the general cleanliness of the premises. Chances to impress - missed - we sat on the terrace of the restaurant whilst staff were preparing the restaurant for evening service. There were 6 of us for the best part of 2 hours. None of the staff came over to ask if we would like to order sth. The general impression is arid. It would have made a great difference to our experience if the customer service had been wowing - to balance the premises need for overhaul. 3* budget 5* service.
Review 75:Location of the hotel was very nice and the weather was great. Hotel is undergoing renovations to bring the facilities up to date. Premier Room was nice. Front Desk staff friendly
Review 76:I had to call the police. Drunken guests running up and down the corridor and impossible to get hold of reception. Very frightening experience.
Review 77:The cleaner was delightful.
Review 78:Good sized rooms, all around the hotel was very clean and maintained. We used the leisure facilities. Again clean and well maintained. Would stay here again
Review 79:The mattress wasn't great - my partners side was very saggy and soft - we both had bad backs.
Review 80:The location - within great distances of lots of fantastic things to do.
Review 81:Food at the bar was very expensive & dissapointing. Jacket potato was very small. Not enough tuna & cost nearly £9. I could have made beer at home.
Review 82:Good view from our room. Nice setting & very quiet.
Review 83:The staff. The spa reception staff were intimidating, the hotel reception were useless and the waitress was rude. Bar: Wine list terrible- Jack Rabbit being the house at just over 18 (usually 4/5 in a pub). Restraunt: Again awful wine list, slow staff. Spa: The sauna was out of order, so we upgraded to the back spa, which was a load of ripped up magazines, empty tea bag jars, and poor facilities. Tried booking some treatments but could not. So bad left after 10 minuets. I also noticed they advertise a 24 hour reception. This is not the case, they leave early evening and put up a sign saying ring bell and wait for night porter.
Review 84:Checking out. I stay in hotels a lot for work and expect better service from an ibis/ travel lodge.
Review 85:Bath was extremely slippery boardering on dangerous. I suspect cleaning materials used!! The reception staff could be more welcoming and less dismissive. It was very busy and hot when we arrived so i gave them the benefit of the doubt, but it was not much better next morning.
Review 86:good location for travelling. Our room had small balcony overlooking golf course, peaceful and tranquil. we enjoyed our stay.
Review 87:Only thing was my soup was not warm but the main carvery was excellent.
Review 88:The parking was easy and free, The bedroom excellent and liked the small veranda. Will play golf next time, everyone friendly and place had a buzz about it.
Review 89:Our room was lovely and spacious with a picturesque view of the Park/ Golf Course. We were very pleased with all of the facilities provided and the food provided at the bar was excellent.
Review 90:There was a problem with the bill on checking out. The discrepancy was considerable, but was soon dealt with and sorted correctly
Review 91:We were made to feel very important by all of the staff. Every member of staff you encountered were extremely friendly and courteous
Review 92:The meal we had in the restaurant on the first night was really good. Not excellent but good value for money. Unfortunately, the 2nd night, when all of our friends had arrived, was awful. My husbands burger was just that a burger in a bun...no sauce, no salad, no butter.....there was supposed to be cheese but we couldn't find it. When we tried to send it back the waitress insisted the cheese had been on it and melted and would not take it back. The other meals were bland and of poor quality. Our room was a bit dated and could use a refurbishment. Breakfast was mediocre.
Review 93:The location was OK. The spa treatment I had was good. The gold course looked good - although we didn't actually play.
Review 94:For a deluxe double room, bed was really uncomfortable and cleanliness was not up to scratch! Had to ring reception to find out where other towels were, as only one I'm bathroom! Other hidden in a drawer!! Bed lamps in room didn't work and several cobwebs were spotted.
Review 95:Overall lovely location and grounds. Staff were happy to help and friendly. Food was fab!
Review 96:Rooms at the back are noisy at night due to people talking and leaving the car park after functions especially with the window open during the hot weather. There are ceiling fans in the rooms which could be left on. Request a room overlooking the golf course and it should be quieter.
Review 97:The restaurant staff are very helpful and the chef very kindly sorted me out with a lovely lamb dinner which was not on the menu. The porridge at breakfast was delicious !!
Review 98:The location of the hotel was excellent being on golf course. We only had a bar snack and breakfast but both were very good. Would recommend this hotel highly
Review 99:Regrettably the plumbing arrangements in the bathroom were just not good enough. Specifically the wc flushing was totally inadequate and the water pressure to the toilet and hand basin was poor. There was no brush or cleaning facility available.
Review 100:Helpful Staff particularly with luggage assistance, this was much appreciated. Very good Breakfast.
Review 101:The shower in the room was terrible, mixer tap that didn't supply much cold water, so couldn't have much hot running through as it became too hot. Dated decor in rooms and bar areas. The maid also left the door of my friend room open throughout the day, and sheets/bottles left outside door in the lodge-returned to room late at night it had been left on the dead lock. Luckily nothing valuable was left in the room. Overpriced for the type of hotel it was.
Review 102:Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Review 103:The dining room staff were always welcoming at breakfast time, and did not rush us in any way. We ate our evening meals in the bar and had an interesting and tasty variety to choose from.
Review 104:Our previously booked room was given to someone else on first night of our stay. No other rooms available. Had to go home and return 2nd day as attending a local wedding. Very poor.
Review 105:The room we were finally given on the 2nd night of booked stay
Review 106:Dinner... Expensive and poor quality, unlike the rest of the hotel. We felt the dinner let it down.
Review 107:The room was spacious, bed very comfy and breakfast was plentiful.
Review 108:Evening food (main course) was mediocre for all of us. Also breakfast was not included in the package I bought and would have cost an extra £13 if I had decided to go for it. Instead drove to woodbridge and found an amazing little organic cafe.
Review 109:The location and scenery, pool facilities were very good. I asked for a quiet room and got one.
Review 110:The price was rather high and rooms and common areas looked rather dated. The service in the bar was rather inattentive.
Review 111:The service from the breakfast staff was excellent - efficient, attentive and friendly. Breakfast was well cooked and there was a good selection.
Review 112:Our room was ok but the bedding was poor asked for the quilt to be changed which was done straight away.
Review 113:Pleasant stay ,went to South wold, well situated if touring around
Review 114:When I came to leave I had already paid for the room which isn't cheap for two people. They tried to charge me an extra 10 pounds for an additional person . There was no extra person I didn't get charged in the end.
Review 115:Staying there before my friends wedding rooms were lovely
Review 116:No opening windows in my room. The ceiling fan was ok but I like fresh air and it was very hot at night even with the fan running.
Review 117:very comfortable for a business trip. lovely location with excellent facilities for someone who likes exercise and relaxation outside of work time!
Review 118:we had a buzz and hum in the wall by the bed it drove us both crazy told staff and they said they would look in to it. they gave us a small refund as we had no sleep for 2 nights we were there.
Review 119:the hotel is clean and friendly and the staff are helpful
Review 120:Evening meal was nothing special. There was no bedside table on one side of the bed, so my husband had nowhere to lay things on overnight.
Review 121:Staff were friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed having an indoor pool, so we could swim each day.
Review 122:Did not advertise walk round golf course, found by accident. Failed to mention that Thursday was curry night.
Review 123:Lovely little walk around the boundary. Nice clean place.
Review 124:We paid approx £135 for 1 night b&b. Room was ok but decor dated. It had a small balcony overlooking the putting green, bit of a shock when you get out of bed and the golfers can see you. The balcony needed cleaning moss on the floor. There were tea making facilities, the kettle was ridiculously noisy, one of the cups was chipped, don't expect that for a room of this price. The bed wasn't overly comfortable and the quilt felt as if it needed replacing. The toilet stopped flushing. The breakfast was poor, dry, hard sausages and bacon, tasteless watery tomatoes. The staff however were nice. There was no telephone signal. Had to get staff to order taxi for us.
Review 125:The staff were pleasant.
Review 126:Poor make up lighting....nowhere was light enough. I couldn't put up the blinds without guests seeing into my room from the car park. Then the room was too dull.
Review 127:Easy to park, drop bags, lift access, swimming facilities.
Review 128:Poor internet signal - but manager moved hot spot for the remainder of stay so got fixed. No ITV, Channel 4 or 5 so missed football. Manager could not fix it - not impressed. Food not the best
Review 129:Requested a 1st floor room overlooking the golf course (when booked on booking.com) however when we arrived we were given a ground floor room which was quite deary and shaded looking over the wall/trees/carpark. We did not have time to bother asking to change as we were off out for the day to a wedding. Shower would not fix to the shower holder so had to shower holding the hose. Not value for money at all. Very expensive for what it was.
Review 130:Clean, all the facilities you could need. Allowed us to check in early with prior arrangement.
Review 131:As above nothing was fantastic just ok. If you are going for a function is it adequate but wouldn't go out of my way to stay again
Review 132:The bath was good but everything wlse is basic for the price you pay to stay here.
Review 133:we stayed in room 204 which was near the function room. The noise from the wedding on the sat night was really load and went on till midnight, then for the next hr, drunken guests left very noisily. We like a good drink and late nights, but that was on our first night. We had a long journey the next day, and left very tired instead of refreshed. the sound seemed to echo through the loft space as you could hear every note not just the base. Out side the room very quiet, and also not much sound from the corridor. Just a design floor of the hotel. Check out very slow at 1100.
Review 134:The English staff. Pool. Driving Range and Golf shop. Location.
Review 135:Everything was perfect!
Review 136:The room was absolutely lovely! We loved the bed, we want this mattress now! Haha beautiful area around and bath got massager! What else do you need to relax!
Review 137:Bathroom poor. Handle to transfer water to shower broken, lavatory did not flush properly, floor had a white water mark around the edges, brown rim to the plughole, poorly cleaned behind the basin. Desk/dressing table very poorly lit. Other work area no power for laptop etc.
Review 138:Friendly helpful staff particularly in the restaurant
Review 139:Tap was broken in the bathroom so we couldn't have a bath (just shower which isn't great if you have a young child/children). Breakfast staff were slow and just stood chatting, never offered the alternative breakfast stuff like porridge or poached eggs. Never given a menu in fact. Such a shame as the first two times were lovely.
Review 140:This was our third stay, clean room, good facilities and a nice breakfast. Views from our room are lovely.
The Fine Print
Please note that some of our bedrooms are located above our function room.Guests should kindly note that the lift will be out of service until 14 February 2016.
