Reviews for Copenhagen Island Hotel
Review 1:There is no real place for people to meet in the lobby, only few seats. Rooms are rather small, especially the single bed rooms. The hotel is bit too far from the center for a walk to there, especially in the wintertime.
Review 2:The hotel is quiet and at the waterfront with nice view on that side. Proximity to Fisketorvet shopping center is fine. Breakfast is excellent and the resturant good. Beds are soft and comfortable. Parking is outside or in the garage under the shopping center. Staff is very helpful.
Review 3:The only restaurants that are close are the ones in the mall.
Review 4:We originally didn't get a double room but the staff was very understanding and we even got an upgrade. Very good breakfast and "almost" central location.
Review 5:The hotel was fully booked and the breakfast room was therefore very busy: service level and especially the courtesy of staff suffered accordingly.
Review 6:In spite of the hotel being fully booked, it was very quiet in our room. The hotel is meters away from one of the main shopping centers in the city, which is handy if you need quick shopping.
Review 7:Beds are too soft for us. Small room for 3 people.
Review 8:Clean and modern style hotel. Close to the central area of Copenhagen by car. Next to big shopping mall. Nice staff.
Review 9:Rooms were a little too basic, whilst we wanted simplicity, a kettle would of been nice!
Review 10:Was still expensive but much cheaper than other near by hotels which offered little extra. In a great position to walk into centre and see all the main attractions. The Trivolli gardens are a short 20min walk. Hotel is Next to the beautiful harbour, shopping mall and train station. Easy access to the airport. Very clean and tidy. Recommend if you're on small budget.
Review 11:Some staining on the mattress was a little off putting, but the room itself was very clean.
Review 12:The room was very comfortable and bright. Good selection of food at breakfast and the restaurant area was beautiful.
Review 13:Not enough pastries put out, they all went in the morning!
Review 14:It was right next to a large shopping mall with lots of reasonably priced restaurants. Lovely breakfast and the rooms were super comfy.
Review 15:Lovely hotel, nice staff, comfortable room - a litttle further out of the way that I thought but that's my fault. The only downside is the wifi was rubbish, which is difficult when you're travelling without any cell data.
Review 16:The noise from the road even with closed windows.
Review 17:The fast and friendly service of the reception. The water offered at the lift. The room was neat and comfortable. The hotel is next to IMAX and huge shopping centre with several restaurants.and Tivoli is only a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Review 18:everything was great, nothing to complain about.
Review 19:Stylish interior, thought-out concept, very comfortable bright rooms, great outside view to the river, great breakfast, very helpful staff
Review 20:Nothing. Although I thought the breakfast selection was a little limited for a hotel of this size and star rating.
Review 21:Lovely modern hotel, good views, nice quiet location but easy access to the centre.
Review 22:Wonderful location. In a peaceful corner of the city and next to the water. I don't take photos of hotel rooms, but everything was very modern, comfortable and clean. The staff was great. It's almost like being on a ship that is anchored. I would go back to stay there.
Review 23:Bed too small, room was clean but showed wear and tear e.g. curtains we're frayed out, I expect better in a 4 star hotel. Nice sauna but no place to relax between sauna sessions.
Review 24:Good breakfast. Nice but not so central location, train, bus and river bus all within 500m. Friendly staff.
Review 25:The rooms were very hot and the bed was very soft. It was a bit further out then I expected. Breakfast to corporate you could be anywhere.
Review 26:The staff was very friendly and very helpful all the time.
Review 27:Breakfast. There was lots of it but it just wasn't very good! Fried eggs not cooked properly; stewed coffee. Lumpen croissants.
Review 28:Great views if you pay for the upgrade (worth it we thought). Comfortable bed.
Review 29:Not in walking distance to city downtown. The standard room a little bit small.
Review 30:Nice Hotel, close to Fisketorvet Mall. Modern building. Amazig breakfast. Nice water wiew.
Review 31:For the price of the room, the room could have had very simple facilities like water cooker and tea bags, pen and paper etc.
Review 32:Breakfast Close to main train station & easy connectivity to the main train station
Review 33:The rooms were nice but maybe should be more spacious.
Review 34:Location of this hotel is perfect. The breakfast had a great variety of options and excellent quality. The staff was very helpful.
Review 35:Anyone walking past our room we could hear them even if they weren't talking. Their footsteps went boom boom. The replenishment of tea and coffee was not efficient since the box was not replaced even if it was empty.
Review 36:The superior room with a view south over the waters was a good choice, as the view north of road and railway was not so good. We had a Juliet Balcony which meant we had as much fresh air as we liked at night. Buffet breakfast was excellent.
Review 37:To get to the center one needs to walk 4-5 minutes to a bus stop. After that the public transportation is very good and you are everywhere in no time.
Review 38:Staff very professional and helpful, room clean and comfortable, right next to a shopping mall with food, coffee and services.
Review 39:The only negative was linen loading outside our window from 3.00-4.30am on our first nights stay. The noise was excessive and in the middle of the morning not appreciated by 2 very tired travellers!
Review 40:Ideal location for train and buses but a rather long walk into the centre. Located next to the Fiskartorvet Mall so great for shopping and food. Lovely waterfront location. Exceptionally clean, modern and comfortable. Well informed and helpful staff.
Review 41:We booked a triple room and the third bed was a sofa bed that was a little bit uncomfortable, aside from that it was a very pleasant stay
Review 42:Location was great, very central and easy to get to. Hotel was lovely, room was very clean and very good value for money
Review 43:Breakfast could get really busy and staff could not keep up to clear tables fast enough, twice had to sit at an unmade table, all tables do not have salt?
Review 44:A good quality modern hotel
Review 45:Extra 2-block walk from the S-train station since the hotel entrance is on a lower level than the roadway and the city just removed the stairs down. Bed may be too soft for some.
Review 46:Modern style room and large bath; excellent hot breakfast; reliable internet, adjacent to shopping mall and restaurants
Review 47:We reserved smoking rooms, and we checked, they had smoking rooms available, but upon arrival, we were (professionally) informed, they don't have smoking rooms anymore, because of policy change. So technically, we didn't get the rooms which we reserved. Location is remote, except for shopping mall. It is rather expensive place. Probably personal feeling, but it feels almost industrial, opposite to some places where you feel like at home.
Review 48:The hotel is modern, clean, with nice views over the river. Good breakfast, free WiFi. Easy access with a car. Rooms are not very large but pretty cosy. Reception staff professionally nice.
Review 49:Checking in was taking a lot of time because there was only one lady at the desk. The second lady simply disappeared
Review 50:Good internet - fast roomservice with good food even when it is late
Review 51:I was pleasantly surprised by this high quality hotel. The staff were pleasant, the room and public areas of the hotel were very clean and the views of the harbour were fantastic. The bed was very comfortable and the free wifi was very convenient.
Review 52:We asked for 2 single beds, but the information didn't go through from booking.com. So we had another spare bed brought in for us as they didn't have any other twin rooms.
Review 53:Comfy bed, nice staff, the hotel is very clean and modern. It's also very quiet.
Review 54:It's fairly expensive for a tiny room. Clean and neat, well designed, minimalistic, but two bedroom absolutely inappropriate for two people.
Review 55:It's a fairly close to everything, but next to huge roads in Copenhagen, which makes it less appealing. For a waterfront view, you have to pay extra, and this was not mentioned before. The only pictures are from the nice side.
Review 56:The restaurant food was very expensive and not a very wide menu for a family, but there are a lot of corporate people staying here so Im sure it suits their needs. However with the choice of places to eat in the mall next door it really wasnt a problem.
Review 57:The hotel was very clean, we paid the upgrade fee so had rooms overlooking the harbour, well worth the extra. Very helpful friendly staff. Very close to a train station and the shopping mall next door had everything you may need on a trip.
Review 58:The room is quite small, however typical of Copenhagen hotels.
Review 59:Cleanliness is one of the plus of this property. Location is a bit outside Copenhagen center, thus a bit cheaper than rest similar hotels, yet it is just one stop away from central station, which is quite convenient.
Review 60:A little too far from the centre and much of the surrounding area particularly near the entrance to the hotel was grubby and neglected.
Review 61:Staff very professional and helpful.
Review 62:The hotel is a little bit far out of the centre if you don't like walking but it you don't mind that, it's great because it's peaceful. The "meat packing" area is also only 10 mins away which is full of restaurants and bars
Review 63:We got a free room upgrade - I think that may have been because we arrived just before midnight though! Rooms are lovely and clean.
Review 64:The length from the airport is the only thing I didn't like, but nothing that turns me away from going there again.
Review 65:The view was pretty, the room was clean and smelled nice. Quick room service. Counter-personell were very nice. Food tasted good. Price was well worth it.
Review 66:The hall way to lobby has no elevator,so you have to carry your own luggage to the lobby.
Review 67:The room is small but cozy, very comfortable. And the reception gave me a free upgrade to a room with terrace!
Review 68:Room was small no bigger than a small cabin in a cruise ship. Beds were narrow wit no place to store baggage. Room suitable for one person only.
Review 69:Hotel was relatively clean.
Review 70:They did not allow me to cancel the reservation. When I changed the dates, they trippled the price, so 4 nights was 9000 kruna(1200€) what is too much.
Review 71:New and clean
Review 72:The vew from the Room and especially the Reception staff was very welcoming and accomodated us with a great range of availability evene thought we have arrived at 12noon they still managed to allocate our confer Thank you
Review 73:Located right next to a huge shopping complex with several food outlets. Well within walking distance of Tivoli Gardens and other attractions.Beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast buffet extensive & good coffee
Review 74:Price of food and beveragesmeant we bought supplies in for breakfast in our room.
Review 75:Location was fantastic. Staff were very helpful. Rooms great and location for transport options brilliant.
Review 76:The mattresses in the rooms were too soft, otherwise no complaints.
Review 77:Lovely location on the water, easy to get to and from the city with the trains. Staff very helpful, hired bikes from the hotel and had a lovely time cycling around the city. Very modern, spacious gym with view over the water.
Review 78:Could have used pickup from train station. No taxis avail. Walked all the way with 2 suitcases and a dog.
Review 79:Classy hotel, loved the large mall next door. Shopping, food, everything you could need plus a huge supermarket. Right on the harbor, lovely walks.
Review 80:The hotel is quite some distance from the Central Train Station if one is carrying heavy luggage. For what it offers, this is not a cheap budget hotel but more on the higher end of the market. Denmark as a country is generally not a cheap tourist destination.
Review 81:The hotel is very close to Dybbolsbro Train Station. It is also possible for one to take a long walk to Copenhagen Central Station, +/- 1.2 km. One can also catch buses close by. Our room was overlooking the water in the canals. Hotel, bar and restaurant staff were extremely motivated and helpful. Rooms were reasonably sized and very clean. There was a safe in the room. Meals were fairly decent. The hotel is located next to a big modern shopping mall with lots of restaurants.
Review 82:Water boiler had very bad smell and didn't look clean replaced it 3 times and all the 3 were worse !!
Review 83:Everything was perfect, stuff super friendly, great view , great location , few walking min from tourist attractions , next to shopping mall
Review 84:Room was too small if you travel with a baby and need a crib. Also the bed was not comfortable: terrible mattress.
Review 85:Very friendly staff, great facilities and close to a Mall where you can find a supermarket and restaurants.
Review 86:3 levels of drinking/dining. Chose the top to catch view. Kept waiting too long by an older, wide berth Indian waiter. Walked to the bar to get at least some drinks after 40 minutes.
Review 87:Location good. Modern with lots of glass - beautiful. There are some bedrooms where I can smoke and that is important.
Review 88:Very small rooms ,Little bathroom . the hotel far from center, wake up eary morning because the cartans not in right size for windows so the sun light is in the room . . There no big taxi for family 5 persons so the hotel far from center is a big problem.
Review 89:Excellent geem, Good breakfast
Review 90:The bed! Awefull small and bad matrass. When we made a compliant we were told that all beds are that size. Amazing for such wonderfull hotel cut costs on good beds. Would therefore not recommend this hotel The picture is like you
Review 91:Location is just a little from the city center (15 minute walk) and within 3 minutes of the Subway (which is only one stop from central station. Hotel has good and friendly staff.
Review 92:unfortunately my room was close to the delivery area, as I sleep with open windows I got some noise form the early morning delivery, other than this, perfect over all the line...
Review 93:Beautiful modern room, overlooking the water. Lovely waterside restaurant serving high quality food. Quiet location away from the busy part of the city. Short walk to the main tourist area.
Review 94:Don't know whether it's the fault of the hotel but after leaving our luggage in the cloak room before departing to board the ship, my coat was missing. Could it have fallen out of our bag there?
Review 95:Only there one night but loved the spaciousness & freshness. Nice location on the waterway.
Review 96:The room was a bit small
Review 97:Location was central Staf is very cheerful and friendly View from the room was superb and the restaurant has a very nice view overlooking the water
Review 98:Bed matress was too squashy, like trampoline. We were disappointed by food ordered through room service - we ordered 2 steaks and the steaks arrived quite cold, tough and untasty - the worst steaks we have ever eaten. The restaurant was described as fabulous - but after this very expensive experience - we rather went for other dinners to Mall for better prices and food was delicious.
Review 99:The location was absolutely great, close to City Center, next to the mall with a lot of restaurants, Cinema and so on Staff was very friendly and helpful. If we come again - Island hotel will be our choice again...
Review 100:Bathroom could of been cleaner and the bed had a crazy springy mattress that you literally bounced off if you moved.
Review 101:Excellent location and staff are super friendly and polite!
Review 102:The bathroom handwash sink was completely stocked and it did not drain the water at all. Using my hand to "pulse" it to open resulted in a lot of black ill smelling remains coming up. We did receive assistance.....finally, but I ask myself how the room maid clean the sink when the drain is stocked? Can you answer this? Being told we could park our park "anywhere under the bridge" we ended up a having a parking fee. This could be told in a much more specific way. There are spots on the carpets and remains on the bedspread. When you turn the AC off, you expect quietness. Instead the exhaust air is still fully active making noise. Bjørn Sollie
Review 103:Soggy Danish pastries in breakfast but nice croissants; however bakery item run out and are not refilled until whole basket is empty (not sure why). Go back and check if you're sitting long or can wait for the top up. Bed is too soft (depends on personal preference).
Review 104:Very nice views on the marina in room, breakfast area, and gym. Bed a bit too soft. Minimalist type toiletries (bring your own conditioner). No safe and no ironing board in room. One stop away from train station or around 20 min walk. Very nice walks along the water at the back of the hotel and an open swimming poi in summer that is worth a try. A big shopping mall next door. Nice and coupons staff. Jugs of water near the elevator all day to quench your thirst. Breakfast area that opens as restaurant for lunch and dinner is appealing but we didn't try.
Review 105:The location is not in the heart of the city, but you can rent a bike from the hotel, it takes like 10 min so it's not a problem.
Review 106:We got a free upgrade to a harbour view room which was very nice.
Review 107:No iron in the room and rubbish in the water at the front of the hotel.Travellers need an iron and the rubbish in the water does not give a good impression on arrival.
Review 108:Bed and Free Wifi plus good breakfast.
Review 109:- breakfast management can be improved, there is space on different floor levels but additional levels are not opened before one level is fully used ... change this - also the queues at breakfast registration could be managed in a better way
Review 110:+ location, not in the inner city center but at the channel and easy to city by boat (HopOn HopOff bus and boat station just near the hotel) + city center also easy reachable by foot (~20 mins) + there are rooms facing the street and also facing the water so go for the water side rooms (slightly higher price)
Review 111:Although the bed itself was comfortable the pillows were atrocious .My husband has neck problems and the lack of appropriate pillows caused problems. The pillows are more like cushions and not bed pillows
Review 112:The staff were so helpful and always pleasant.Nothing was too much trouble.Enjoyed many a joke with the staff in the bar.
Review 113:extremely small rooms Can hardly move inside the room No parking for large cars Parking policy not clear New staff not well oriented
Review 114:Cleanness Canal view
Review 115:Not enough staff with heavy cleaning, maintenance workload
Review 116:Very pleasantly situated allowing great walks towards the most interesting parts of the city
Review 117:Not an appetising breakfast, lots of breads and flat danish pastries there was fruit but not well presented. Noisy room as it overlooked a main road. Windows and wardrobe door had smears and finger marks on it when we got there and they were still there when we left after three nights. Could not get the channels they advertised in the information in the room on the TV.
Review 118:Quite a good location in between central Copenhagen and Christainshavn and near a train station. Nicely designed rooms (bit small).
Review 119:The mattresses were very uncomfortable. Pillows were very uncomfortable We stayed three nights but not one night we had a peaceful sleep The hotel room had no blackout curtains. In the morning one is forced to get up due to bright light. There was no dedicated switch near the electric kettle. If you need to make tea, the electric kettle was To be placed near the study table. Housekeeping was not good. One of the day's the used cups were not even washed and we had to complain at the front office. The extra bed for the child was very uncomfortable.
Review 120:Location was ok, close to a station which connects the central station
Review 121:Glass cup is not so clean. Price is a little a bit expensive
Review 122:Location is nice, near s-tog station. Staffs are nice and with fluent English. Wifi is easily accessible.
Review 123:Modern & very clean. Harbour area really nice but purchase a superior room to be guaranteed a view or you'll be over looking a road. Rent the bikes, they are in good condition & yours until midnight. There is also a great shopping mall next door including a good choice of restaurants & cinema
Review 124:No tea/coffee making facilities in the room and no café in reception. Unable to specify twin beds. This is only a request and is completely unacceptable for certain types of party.
Review 125:Waterside location. Convenience to train station. Bath!
Review 126:Worst personnel ever . Worst service ever. I have been asked to pay 15%commission for cash . Still waiting for my deposit to be refunded after3 days . I don't suggest it at all.
Review 127:Great location, very nice hotel, and helpful staff. Breakfast was not included in our room cost, found the buffet little bit on the expensive side but included a wide variety of items all of which were very tasty.
Review 128:The room was very small for the money. And it was advertised as close to the city center but it was very far away.
Review 129:The staff was very helpful and very nice
Review 130:Great breakfast, great location close to Metro, aircondition was what made us book as the weather was pretty hot outside (and sleeping would have been horrible otherwise). Get a room facing the city is probably extra-nice (we had one facing the motorway - did't disturb us sound-wise I'd like to ad, I just think the view on the other side is probably lovely).
Review 131:The fact that one could not purchase just a cup of coffee and or a 'Danish pastry' in a coffee bar. The only breakfast available as the full buffet at the full price - hence i went without coffee or breakfast for four days. I, like many others I am sure, do not want a full breakfast every day. On the basis alone I would not return to that hotel. Another hotel, in the same group, not that far from our hotel did have a coffee shop. It is beyond my understanding why our hotel could not do the same.
Review 132:The staff were friendly, the hotel was clean, it was good being by the water and we liked the contemporary feel to the hotel.
Review 133:Lots of large tour groups, dinner menu does not change, little room for clothes storage. Hotel is a reasonable walk from the city centre, but on the airport side of the city.
Review 134:Good views, light room, helpful desk staff
Review 135:Bed was a little too soft for me but that wouldn't stop me staying here again!
Review 136:Great staff, excellent location (20 minute walk from the centre of town), bike hire, excellent choice at breakfast, very clean, quiet and modern.
Review 137:Great location close to train station. Modern design with a lovely view. Very handy to have the shopping centre next door for the restaurants/cafés and for a wander around if u have children with u and don't want to be dragging them around the city centre in the evenings. Ask for a harbour view if possible. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was one of the nicest I've had while away.
