Reviews for Ferry Lodge

Review 1:I explained to the manager I had to leave early and would not be there for breakfast which would be difficult being I am diabetic, I at least thought she would offer to do me a sandwich, I have managed a guest house and If people were In them circumstances I always did them a sandwich at least to take with them. The room was cold also the water my my.

Review 2:It was near to the shops

Review 3:it a very welcoming lodge, so very difficult to state anything. However i did notice a few misleading notices regarding payment. Some which state cash only payment and some which state cards are not accepted as well as one that states that cards are accepted with a £2 fee. Thankfully cards are accepted, and the £2 fee is the case.

Review 4:the proprioter was very friendly and easy going, on arrival she knew that i was expected to be arriving soon. Asked me what time having breakfast would suit me and if there was anything i needed. Checking in was quick and easy, quick confirmation of who i were, where the room is and then handed me the room keys. Will definately prompt me to stay at this guest house again whenever i return to Holyhead.

Review 5:shower bit hard to sort out but not a problem all round good for money

Review 6:host was pleasant and helpful room was nice clean breakfast was very nice all good

Review 7:Our only real complaint is that breakfast was a bit basic and very greasy (cereal and full English, no fruit or real coffee) although Sarah was sweet enough to poach my eggs for me.

Review 8:Sarah was quite friendly and kindly left the key in a coded box for us, as we were arriving after midnight. (I wish more B&B's had this option, as it's very practical!) The room was on the first floor (no lift), and was quite large with a double and a single bed. It was very clean and the shower pressure was fantastic with plenty of hot water for two showers. On-street parking only, but we literally parked right in front. A five minute drive to the ferry (Sarah told us how to get there), although this might be a more cumbersome walk if one had bags to carry.

Review 9:Very noisy , people shouting early on te morning. Dog running around making lots of noise in the backyard . No one to meet us when we arrived - key left in a locked box outside

Review 10:Good choice at breakfast. Very friendly

Review 11:The stay was made so easy due to their flexibility and help in arriving late. Very friendly staff (even posted on my phone charger when discovered I'd left it), showed us how to get to next destination, made us feel very welcome. Could not rate more highly and i have traveled the World in business class and 5star hotels. Top class staff.

Review 12:I thought that the stay was very highly priced for what was offered, the bed sheets were not changed after each night, the manager was not very willing to hold a conversation, it states that there is a dedicated smoking area where in fact it is the street. There isn't any designated parking (must park on the street and hope there's a space)

Review 13:I liked that the manager respected our privacy

Review 14:For anyone arriving in late evening, make a note of the property's contact details and ask about arriving late. You will be told there are no staff in the building and given a code for one of the security boxes on the front of the building (to the left of the front door). The box will contain your room key and a front door key. If you do not contact the property beforehand, you may find yourself in a spot of bother.

Review 15:The thing I will remember most about this property was the bed. I had been travelling constantly since about 5am that day. I didn't get to the guest house till 10pm. The bed in the room I had was incredibly comfortable. The shower was good too. They do breakfast after 6:30am, but I had to leave before then to catch an early train.

Review 16:Think perhaps it is advertised as being better than it is. While clean and tidy is quite dated and bed not the most comfortable. Identified as having free parking but that was on street. Not a major issue but had I known may have paid a little more for off street some where else. . Only there 1 night so not a big issue

Review 17:Location was OK

Review 18:the room was dirty smelled hairs in one of the beds we stayed 2 nights and the room never got cleaned beds not made bin not empted towels were not clean we didnt get fresh towels and you have to pay cash only even though all the pieces of paper all over the hotel say credit cards accepted

Review 19:breakfast was passable but if you went in the dinning room after 9 oclock you couldnt have cerials yet all the notes plastered on the bedroom wall said breakfast 7 30 till 9 30 joke

Review 20:Shower We went for a walk in we came back at 9pm and we were locked out . We couldn't access the hotel for half an hour until another guess heard us and went to open the door for us.

Review 21:Rooms design Nice staff

Review 22:Upon arrival, the proprietress advised that payment for the room would have to be in cash. Given that the window to the hotel had a display indicating that the hotel accepted credit cards, this proved something of an inconvenience, as there were no ATMs close to the hotel or easily found in Holyhead.

Review 23:The location was fine as we were only staying over-night before taking the ferry the following day.

Review 24:The owner was very helpfull getting around in town. The location is perfect. Just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal and town. Also just a few steps to the walkways and harbour

Review 25:Nice friendly welcome. Safe storage of cycles. Spacious, warm, quiet twin/family room. Excellent shower and clean comfy bed. Had a good nights rest. Thanks Sarah.

Review 26:Arrived early on the ferry and had hope to check in, or at least leave my bag. Unfortunately I was too early and no one was there for me to do so. Poor planning on my part but still disappointing. The wifi was also vey finicky.

Review 27:The staff was friendly and breakfast was amazing. Was great for spending the night between travelling.

Review 28:The day that we left the house was appearing on the television that night and we got home too late to watch it !!!!

Review 29:The room was excellent, plenty of space and very clean. The host was very friendly and polite.

Review 30:We were late due to traffic and Sarah went out of her way to email us and make sure we were ok. The next morning she again went above and beyond by preparing our breakfast ahead of normal breakfast hours to accommodate our early ferry to Ireland. Customer service like that can't be beat.

Review 31:Difficulty in locating owner to get access who does not appear to live on premises. Generally poorly maintained. No light in bathroom. Breakfast OK but evidence that items had been prepared so time before eg ring around milk jug.

Review 32:The location was OK.

Review 33:The image was not indicative of the size of the venue. It appeared to be a hotel but was a small B&B. Rooms were small with very little space.

Review 34:The owner was helpful with recommendations for dinner. It was close to the ferry terminal.

Review 35:Confusion over access to the lockbox to get in, since the hotel is not staffed all hours.

Review 36:Clean, well appointed room. Convenient to the ferry terminal. Sarah, the landlady, friendly and cheerful.

Review 37:Not a lot of choice for breakfast.

Review 38:Large front of house family room given although only the 2 of us. Was clean & relatively comfortable. Owner was friendly enough Breakfast ok-not alot of choice but strangely if you wanted bacon/sausage butty-cost was extra!!!! OK for an overnight stay if catching ferry

Review 39:friendly landlady but dangerously unfriendly dog- wouldn't recommend going anywhere near it! Not an animal that should be anywhere near families...

Review 40:location was good for the ferry

Review 41:The parking is basically 'find a space' anywhere you can as the Hotel is situated in a side street. But it's not a major problem...

Review 42:The Hotel is situated in an area close to shops, takeaways, pubs, etc, so anything you needed while you were at the Hotel is on hand. It is also very close to the Boat Yard, Harbour & Maritime Museum, which is well worth a visit, should you be into boats. The room was small but comfortable and the bed was great for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was a full English and very tasty, along with all the usual cereal, orange juice, coffee, tea, etc. All in all, I would have no hesitation staying there again...

Review 43:The place was just perfect and obviously run by a serious professional who new what she was doing.

Review 44:Ferry lodge is very convenient to the ferry. The room was very clean with plenty of room. It had a nice view of the harbour and was nicely furnished. The landlady was very nice an helpful even when we arrived in the middle of the night.

Review 45:Need new non micro fiber towels and the wifi was a bit spotty.

Review 46:Everyone was friendly, happy to help, great organized breakfast and the rooms were comfortable. Security was decent, but felt safe.

Review 47:This is an excellent location for catching the Stena ferry (not Irish ferry as Stena was much better) to Ireland. Walking distance to town and bay with some really great eating places. Sarah is a great hostess and we spent 2 enjoyable night there.

Review 48:Lovely clean rooms and decor, great location, fantastic host (Sarah) and yummy cooked breakfast only bad thing is the shower isn't great and towels are very thin and small. Would defo stay again.

Review 49:Near the boat .

Review 50:decor in dining room

Review 51:Friendly manageress

Review 52:Amount of rules of B&B all around the corridors and inside doors.

Review 53:The view from the room. Ability to walk to the town centre within 5 minutes.

Review 54:Location for ferry

Review 55:It is a bit run down.

Review 56:Cozy homy feel. Very basic.

Review 57:Location good

Review 58:The road outside the property is very narrow and 2 way traffic, the photo showing the property takes poetic license too far.

Review 59:Clean

Review 60:Excellent service. Owner got up early to give us our breakfast for early ferry crossing.

Review 61:All good

Review 62:Great location to catch the Irish ferry. Nice hotel for dinner on the harbour front.

Review 112:Nothing! It was excellent value.

Review 113:The friendly and helpful welcome that continued throughout my stay. The standard of cleanliness was excellent and the breakfast very good

Review 114:The Ferry Lodge was convenient for the ferry terminal. We found the facilities clean and comfy, and received a warm welcome from Sarah. Breakfast was great as was the curry that we enjoyed at the Prince of Wales pub on the Friday night. Ask Sarah for directions to the pub. We would stay again. Thank you.

Review 115:The place is billed as the Ferry Lodge yet the owner complained when I arrived late from the ferry through no fault of my own. The owner was in a bad mood and I did not feel welcome.

Review 116:Breakfast basic. Took 10 mins to figure out how to lick door. Wifi poor. Shower had no pressure. Owner recommend we could walk to restaurant as very close. She said a 5 min walk. More like 30+ minute walk and by time we got there, they just stopped serving food. I was not impressed as my travel companions was my mother who is approaching 70. We had to find somewhere else, very difficult then and ate whatever was open. The towels in bedroom are more like hand towels, I'm quite thin myself and they no way cover me let alone my travel companions. The decor is poor. Using stickers of some sort that are peeling off is no way to decorate a cupboard, placemats and every other thing you can think of. The decor is very mismatch and whatever goes. My travel companions rated it as the worst if their time but like in the end they said, it's just a bed.

Review 117:Sarah was friendly and very helpful. She responded very positively to the requests we made and we greatly appreciated the fact she gave us an early breakfast so we could get to our ferry on time. Thank you.

Review 118:Dirty used bathroom bin sanitary towels left in the bin from previous occupants and dirty bin in main area (under the tv) breakfast egg was burnt as if was cooked in dirty oil.

Review 119:we were welcomed by the owner, who was friendly and welcoming, She was flexible enough to offer us breakfast as a slightly later time than normal on Sunday
