Built in 1757 in a traditional wooden style, the Hirschen Hotel in Schwarzenberg in the Bregenz Forest offers an award-winning gourmet restaurant, a sauna, and free underground parking. Free WiFi is available throughout the building.
The Hirschen Schwarzenberg features individually furnished rooms in a rustic style with wooden furniture and floors. They are located in the historic main building and in the quiet Wälderhaus annexe. All rooms include satellite TV, and a bathroom with bathrobes, slippers, and a hairdryer.
Awarded by the Gault Millau with 1 toque, the restaurant serves regional specialities and Austrian cuisine, as well as a wide selection of Austrian wines in the traditional parlours, dating from the 18th century.
Guests can choose between a wide range of DVDs. A DVD player is available in the rooms or can be hired free of charge at the reception. The garden includes a sunbathing lawn, a fountain, and a herbal garden.
The Rothenbach mountain pasture is a part of the hotel and can be reached on hiking trails starting at the Hirschen. If guests stay three or more nights they receive the Bregenzerwald guest-card which allows free access to several cable cars, free use of public transport as well as reductions on museum admissions.
In winter, the ski slopes end right at the doorstep. A ski bus stops in front of the hotel and takes guests to various ski areas. Snow shoeing equipment and toboggans can be borrowed free of charge on site.

Review 1：The reception staff was a bit formal and "steif." I would have preferred a warmer reception and friendlier treatment.

Review 2：This was a romantic and historic hotel. The surroundings were absolutely breathtaking. It was wonderful to be given a "welcome glass" of champagne.

Review 3：If you are very tall the "classic traditional room" head height might be a problem. These rooms are in the original part of the building. Located on main road through village on a corner and so traffic noise at certain times of day, week or year might be an issue for some people? In September, midweek and only for one night not a problem for us.
