Reviews for Three Counties Hotel

Review 1:The room was not hoovered every day although the bed was made and the bin emptied. Not having access to the internet in the room.

Review 2:Warm and friendly atmosphere Helpful staff

Review 3:Sucky bathmat thing was mouldy. Noisy pipes at night (heating or water?) Hot water took ages. Poo bin on site would be handy!!

Review 4:Great location, receptionist was lovely, room was comfortable. Pet friendliness and being able to park right outside our room far outweighs any minor minus points!

Review 5:The room we had was a bit basic - but it was cheap.

Review 6:Extremely helpful staff. Reception had managed to have a room ready early as we were going to a lunchtime wedding. So we could change in comfort and leave our stuff securely in the room. Breakfast was freshly cooked and really tasty.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:The bedding was of a very good standard, it was lovely and quite, the bath was deep and water hot. Check in and out was very quick and efficient

Review 9:Not a huge problem but no WiFi in the Garden Room Suites.

Review 10:The hotel is in a good location for what we wanted, was clean, warm and the staff are very pleasant. We will use Three Counties again!

Review 11:Really geared up for conferences so a bit souless. Evening meal so so. Getting to the centre of Hereford needed a car.

Review 12:Large comfortable hotel. Excellent Breakfast

Review 13:Very welcoming, comfortable hotel. I had booked 2 rooms, but due to circumstancescould only take one. Staff removed one room off the bill without any prompting at all.

Review 14:To be told on arrival that having a dog with us was an Extra £20! It doesnt mention this anywhere on the website. The to be refused a cot when there were clearly 2 behind the counter....shocking!

Review 15:Great to have a room on its own and the freedom to access without having to wonder endless corridors.

Review 16:I like every thing there..

Review 17:The receptionist are very professional they welcome you well, all the workers are very respectful well trained, the breakfast is good,

Review 18:It wasn't possible to watch the tv properly, the sign wasn't good enough

Review 19:The mattress was very comfortable The bathroom was clean Very quite location

Review 20:Rooms a little dated and the restaurant did not open until 6.30pm and was very expensive.

Review 21:Nice location, garden rooms are handy as you can park right outside.

Review 22:no light outside our friends room next door - was pitch black and had to use torch to find keyhole.

Review 23:friendly staff allowed us early check in. lovely comfortable rooms and bath/shower. tv swivelled also which was useful.

Review 24:This is my second visit. I particularly like the garden rooms as these offer a feeling of privacy away from the hotel and accessibility for my disabled son. Ease of parking and well kept grounds make it very welcoming. V good space in the rooms and excellent cleaning standards. Staff were very friendly.

Review 25:The meal in the restaurant on Saturday night left a lot to be desired. I suppose we should have been alerted to the poor quality by the fact that the restaurant was almost completely empty. The food was so bad that we were not charged for the meal.

Review 26:The staff were very helpful, the room was clean, warm and comfortable

Review 27:Poor hot breakfast for the money. The coffee was stale and awful, the toast was cold and the scrambled egg poor (the bacon was good).

Review 28:Bed, shower and enthusiastic staff.

Review 29:Decore a little dated, bathroom only had a painted concrete floor (no tiles ect) shower wasn't very good, bathroom extractor fan didn't work, no iron in the room had to get one everytime we needed to iorn something, there wasn't a thermostat in the room so cold t night and to warm early in the morning

Review 30:The bed was comfy, it was clean, the bar was nice and a good full English

Review 31:No wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby. The "garden rooms" are more like a motel requiring you walk outside to get to your room.

Review 32:Facility is beautiful with nice gardens, flowers, water feature, lobby. Location is handy between a major supermarket and McDonalds. It's really too far to walk to the center of town for major attractions like the cathedral.

Review 33:There was nothing to dislike,

Review 34:The room was spacious, quite and very comfortable. The breakfast and evening meals were very good and the serving staff very helpful.

Review 35:I enjoyed everything about our stay we stayed over for a wedding held at The Three Counties a fabulous day, suburb food in the daytime and also the evening, comfortable garden room, slept comfortably, breakfast spot on really enjoyed it , staff very friendly would recommend a stay here.

Review 36:We are not dog lovers and were a little concerned to discover that previous guests may have had a dog in our room.

Review 37:The ambience of the building, the excellent evening meal and the detached garden room

Review 38:Nothing at all to complain of!

Review 39:There's nothing fussy or pretentious yet the whole arrangement of our room and items provided were really well thought out to meet the needs of guests.(A lot better than much more expensive hotels we've stayed in!) Staff were also really pleasant and helpful.

Review 40:Room smelled very musty on arrival. Window latch loose (garden room) They were caught out at dinner with two functions going on at the same time. I suspect part time staff had been roped in at the last minute and were running around like headless Chickens. Not their fault, training I suspect.

Review 41:Nice quiet location. Very good breakfast.

Review 42:A very nice hotel in very nice surroundings. We stayed in one of the Garden Rooms which was really pleasant and very quiet. The beds were extremely comfortable.

Review 43:No wifi in the Garden Rooms. Would be good if the bar did bar meals if you don't want a the full restaurant meal.

Review 44:Good sized rooms in both the main hotel and the 'Garden Rooms'. Plenty of parking.

Review 45:My daughter had to change rooms because the TV didn't work properly nor did the curtains draw fully. In her new room, the TV still didn't work correctly though a member of staff did improve the reception. The restaurant was very over-priced. There was no reserved disabled parking. The sound insulation was poor - in all 3 rooms we were disturbed by noise from adjacent rooms.

Review 46:The location was convenient for us and the beds were comfortable.

Review 47:No toilet roll holder (it was broken). Earwig crawling around the bathroom floor and a dead spider in the bath gave the impression it hadn't been cleaned for a while. Bathroom was very tired. Evening meals very expensive for what they were.

Review 48:Staff very friendly and helpful. Able to walk into the city from the hotel.

Review 49:No wi fi . No refrigerator for medical use /medication. poor shower arrangements in bathroom. Kettle to large to fill under bathroom tap.

Review 50:Location of rooms ideal also for parking of car away from main building .

Review 51:Evening meals were bland, meat tough, veg served half over cooked, other half raw. Staff friendly, but heard some talking unprofessionally about over guests. Before you have a chance to swallow what's in your mouth, waitress asking you having a full breakfast. Felt as if you're being rushed to eat up quick.

Review 52:clean, comfy, friendly staff. Good varied selection on offer for breakfast. Quiet and relaxing location.

Review 53:My meal in the restaurant was horrible asked for medium steak with no blood got a rare steak sent it back then got it back cremated, very slow service for evening meal

Review 54:Reception staff were lovely

Review 55:No WiFi in room, decor was very dated, the shower took ages to heat and wasn't very powerful and the pillows were thin

Review 56:You could Park right outside the room, it was close to city centre and had everything you needed.

Review 57:No wifi in garden room.

Review 58:Garden room perfect for disabled- parking right outside and easy to walk into hotel. Everyone so friendly and accommodating. Very positive experience . Great location and pretty gardens.

Review 59:I liked everything.

Review 60:A beautiful hotel with friendly staff. We had a garden room and I loved the location and how peaceful it was. Top marks for this hotel.

Review 61:The cleanliness at the bottom of the radiators (which you can see when in the bath) and around the edges of the bath

Review 62:I liked that the room seemed to be away from other rooms due to it not being in the main building.

Review 63:No negatives

Review 64:good location, good food in restaurant, staff very friendly and helpful. liked the room, very comfortable, parking right outside out room.

Review 65:The staff were very friendly, the hotel was very clean , the food although a little expensive it was very good and very tasty,, we would definitely stay here again

Review 66:The shower in the bathroom needs to be improved. There should also be a toilet brush in the room to allow customers to clean the toilet if needed after use.

Review 67:Staff and set up were good

Review 68:Brilliant the staff couldn't do enough for us. Whoever posted before that the staff were rude and unhelpful are totally wrong and their posting should be ignored . Great place

Review 69:cleaner s smoked at bottom stairs every morning with door open wafting smoke up to our room 215 due to a large wedding on Saturday night all doors were chained open to let smokers in and out all though the temperature was in single figures, had 1 drink and left, main breakfast was delivered every morning before serial / fruit starter had been eaten

Review 70:head waitress in dining room was most pleasant morning and night , food was well cooked and presented

Review 71:No wifi available in the rooms. We also didn't have the breakfast or meals as they are expensive.

Review 72:Helpful staff, lovely and clean and the garden rooms are quiet at night, so a good nights sleep without being woken by other guests.

Review 73:Unable to eat a snack in the bar during the evening. We were told that the owner did not permit it, and we would have to eat it in reception lounge area or our room

Review 74:Helpfulness and friendliness of staff

Review 75:Initially given a room that someone had been smoking in, in spite of notices to the contrary. However room was swopped fairly quickly, with the offer of a complimentary breakfast. However at breakfast the tea and coffee were served cold!

Review 76:Fairly convenient location. pet friendly.

Review 77:bar lady really grumpy . no smiles no conversation no eye contact. We were there for a wedding too so just about everyone else in the hotel was happy! let down the rest of the team which were brilliant. Can only assume she was having a bad day.

Review 78:receptionist really friendly. waiting staff very efficient and very friendly.

Review 79:Restaurant needs updating, bad music, no atmosphere due to lack of customers, food average and over priced. Room was hot, heavy duvet no chain on door for security

Review 80:Nice reception area and provision of shampoo etc in room

Review 81:Toilet was blocked when we arrived. They didn't manage to fix it so we had to 'go' elsewhere - Not convenient during the night.

Review 82:Friendly and helpful staff. Nice Chalet type rooms. Breakfast was outstanding.

Review 83:No internet in any of the garden rooms. Due to this fact and business needs I will not use this hotel on future visits to Hereford.

Review 84:Good cheerful staff.

Review 85:Free WiFi only available in the main hotel building, however was able to pick up a fairly decent EE network in the room.

Review 86:Room was a garden IE: Away from the main hotel which meant it was quite.

Review 87:Not an awful lot of "character". And the restaurant menu seemed possibly influenced by a weekday business clientele - plenty of choice if you like large portions of meat, but not the most variety ever.

Review 88:Perfectly good example of a modern hotel. All facilities perfectly adequate. Staff particularly friendly. On the Saturday night we were there, it was full, but seemed very quiet (apparently most people had come for a wedding)

Review 89:£12 for breakfast! No prices were displayed in room or on breakfast menu. Another guest's drinks were added to my bill. Bathroom extractor not working. Wifi unusable

Review 90:Quiet location. Useful to park directly outside room

Review 91:The hotel advertises free wifi. It is indeed available in the main building. It is *not* available in (any? certainly my) garden room.

Review 92:The breakfast was good, the staff very helpful.

Review 93:I thought the rooms, although clean and comfortable, were in need of modernisation. Location was a little outside the town centre and entailed a 30 minute walk into town.

Review 94:A clean well appointed hotel; well laid out in it's own spacious grounds. Very good value for money. Ideal for a short stopover. Breakfast was not included but was very good with a choice of continental or full English.

Review 95:No air conditioning. Meals expensive so ate at country Pubs. Disturbed early morning by dogs barking. Why encourage pet owners?

Review 96:Liked the privacy of the garden room. Chamber Maids exceptional.

Review 97:In the evening after coming back from a wedding - close friends of ours, we went and had a drink in the bar after asking if that was okay, only to be greeted by aggressive people that were at a "wedding"... there were about 10 people on a dance floor - no bride or groom, we were shocked at the way we were spoken too, they told us to leave, we had a drink and sat on a table close to the back door not hurting any one just talking quietly, they aggressively shouted at us and we had no option other than to leave - the Neanderthals were effing and blinding in the lobby - we went back to the bar to get one more drink before heading to our room to have 6 grown men push us out of the hotel bar and started throwing punches at myself and my partner calling us all the names under the sun... within a few minutes the bouncer came to help us - it was a horrendous experience after a lovely day and a lovely hotel, I never have been treated so badly by other people sharing a hotel before, so be wary of booking this hotel when there is a "wedding" on, not that you would call this shamble a wedding - absolutely disgusting people!! My partner went outside for some fresh air before bed and the same men chased him into the hotel! The next morning found people from the wedding in the next room screaming at each other and there kids it was awful to hear and was quiet upsetting... We had guest that came to breakfast and were charged £12 for 2 poached eggs on toast and the full English didn't come... so £25 on a breakfast that was poor, the lady serving was rude and sarcastic! Even though the hotel staff with the exception of the lady serving food were happy and friendly, the room itself was lovely and the hotel lobby- on this occasion other people let it down which is a real shame...

Review 98:The lady on reception was lovely, and the evening staff were helpful.

Review 99:Breakfast was very expensive, which we didn't know until checking out. 2 full English breakfast with tea and a small box of rice krispies for our toddler came to £24. A little disappointing after a lovely stay.

Review 100:Accommodation is separate from the main Hotel building which meant it was quiet and a bit more private. Lovely spacious room, friendly staff and beautiful Hotel.

Review 101:Nothing really

Review 102:Nice hotel in lovely surroundings. The room was very clean and comfortable with the usual useful extras, such as hair dryer, iron, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Check-out times were sensible too. The best thing was the knowledge and friendliness of the reception staff. The lady on duty during our stay was excellent and a credit to the hotel.

Review 103:Prefer walk in shower - not too good on our feet.Usually book a disabled room with wall grabs

Review 104:Excellent service and food in the restaurant. Peaceful and quiet room despite being near main road

Review 105:Only stayed one night en route to the Hay festival so we didn't have breakfast included. On the basis of the room and service there wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 106:Lovely comfortable bed and very helpful reception staff.

Review 107:no breakfast at cheaper price, cheaper price quite expenssive - sort of hotel prices without hotel facilities, breakfast included in price would make it reasonable value

Review 108:easy access, good for central hereford,

Review 109:Nothing maybe in a perfect world it could had been 5 minutes nearer town centre

Review 110:The rooms were more like little bungalows like 1 storey motel accommodation really great lovely and clean comfortable bed. nice bathroom can't find anything wrong with accommodation receptionist very nice and helpful nothing was to much trouble for her will use again and tell friends how nice it is

Review 111:As soon as we arrived the receptionist was very friendly and attentive, we liked that our room was separate from the main hotel it meant we weren't disturbed by any other guests or noise. The room was very clean and tidy and the check-in and out process was very easy. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Review 112:Not one thing.

Review 113:The lady receptionist on arrival was exceptional. Friendly & business like which many hotels do not have. She is an asset to the hotel. Great hotel.

Review 114:The floor board was just too noisey

Review 115:I could hear people walking around in the hall way coz of the floor board. The hotel is very old. Is good value for money doe. And is very clean. The staff are very friendly

Review 116:Meal it was much room stroganoff. Too many onions sauce was thin and runny and little taste. Price therefore was expensive for standard and quality.

Review 117:Bed was soft but pillows let it sown flat and hard

Review 118:Wifi not available in room. Slightly disappointed that there were no bread roll or croissant options at breakfast, only toast.

Review 119:Room (garden room) was not too small, clean, reasonably comfortable bed but over-thick duvet for the time of year! Plenty of car parking, both near Reception and near our room. Reception staff very friendly, dining-room staff friendly and constantly cleaning. Décor quite smart and not shabby (and not purple!).

Review 120:Rooms were a little dated and could do with some attention. WiFi in rooms would be another advantage.

Review 121:Reception area and surrounding grounds were well kept. Bar area was nice. Areas were clean as well.

Review 122:No noise insulation at all - could hear everything in next room and outside. Some furniture and fittings were shoddy or damaged, including leaky shower screen. Bedding was very itchy, although hopefully due to starch...

Review 123:Easy to find and park; reasonable price; breakfast had good variety and quantity.

Review 124:The room had been cleaned while we where at breakfast and when we returned, used the facilities. We where not booking out until 10.30. We informed reception. We now realise when we checked in someone had used our room and towels before we used the room. Yuck!

Review 125:Everything was excellent. Staff friendly, room comfortable, food highly recommended. Steak cooked to perfection.

Review 126:The food in the restaraunt in the evening was not of very good quality. i had mushroom stroganoff, it was watery and tasteless.my partner had steak, poor quality meat and again tasteless with greasy uncooked chips. sorry but overall very disapointed.

Review 127:The bar attached was great, great outdoor area. very cosy to sit in and relaxe with a few drinks.

Review 128:We didn't use the restaurant because we thought the prices for main courses were a bit high.perhaps they were justified, we didn't go to find out.

Review 129:We didn't stay in the main hotel which at first was disappointing , however I think it was better because you didn't get the noise of other guests coming and going.

Review 130:I was not told on booking that breakfast was not included. This made the room overpriced. The curtains in the room were hanging off one end of the pole, and the electricity/lighting suddenly went off, as I was getting up in the morning, so no light in bathroom or room. ok it was probably a fuse but no time to ask for room service. The room smelt musty on first entering and there no heating, so it was cold

Review 131:Charming receptionist who was extremely helpful, explaining how to get around, ordering taxis that turned up very quickly, and booking a restaurant table in Hereford, all with a smiling good humour. Could not have been nicer. There was good tea making facilities in the room with a proper tea pot etc.

Review 132:Restaurant diesnt open until 6.30, which was too late for young children

Review 133:Loved the garden rooms set at back of Hotel, peaceful, spacious and very comfortable, large tv, tea and coffee facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 134:Decor was a little dated.

Review 135:Whilst moving house to Hereford we needed to stay in a hotel for two nights. The Three Counties was the nearest to the new house. We were greeted my wonderful staff who looked after us so well. Food was amazing served quickly. We would recommend this hotel.

Review 136:None

Review 137:Parking outside of door, quiet location, clean room & bathroom, soft towels, large room with good hanging space. Lighting excellent, even enough light to see in the mirror, as light above the dressing table & centre light in room. Large TV, that Actually worked!!! We were very pleased with the stay at this hotel. Did not use restaurant so cant on this.

Review 138:Bathroom was in a poor state of repair and is need of refurbishment. Room could be cleaner.

Review 139:Good location & Parking. Staff good and helpful. Room was nice and big and Bed was great. Good Wifi and internet as I had a lot of work to do.

Review 140:The only problem with the room was the plug didn't keep the water in the bath.

Review 141:Staff very pleasant, attended a function on Saturday night and the food was exelent so was the breakfast in the morning.

Review 142:Would have brought my dog with me, but didn't manage to find anything on website that said that dogs were welcome. That was a shame.

Review 143:Hot food at function which is quite unusual. Lovely breakfast too.
