Reviews for The Chedburgh
Review 1:Nothing of real note to be honest. I can imagine the en-suite shower and loo was a bit tight on space if you were of a large build or had some degree of mobility problems but for me it was fine.
Review 2:Ideally located for the town centre and Metro station and in a quiet street so had excellent nights sleep. The family running the Chedburgh were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good and there was plenty of it
Review 3:N/A
Review 4:When I arrived Paul the owner greeted me at the door. Really friendly guy chatted with him for a while. Paul pointed out were my room was and the breakfast room and shower room. Great free wifi my room was smart clean with a soft bed. Shower room was really clean and trendy. I will be back again no doubt !
Review 5:There was an issue with the window, it looks like a previous stayer has messed with the hinge. Could get cold in winter as couldn't shut the window properly (no issue in warm September)
Review 6:Louise and Paul were brilliant. I arrived, due to very bad traffic, at 11:15pm and Paul was very welcoming. The hotel is 2 minutes from the coast road with very nice views and another 2 minutes from the Metro station. Perfect for me! The single room had wifi, tv (freeview with sports), tea/coffee making, comfy bed. Just right! The shower issue others have complained about seems to have been fixed. It was a nice warm shower for me and looked very clean in both room and washroom I accidentally didn't include breakfast in my stay (my fault...) as I stayed for the Great North Run, but Louise offered me toast, spreads, cereal, juice and fruit to help me get my energy for the day ahead. Very generous of her I had two night stay over for the Sat/Sun nights over the GNR weekend. 20mins from Newcastle center and only a couple minutes from the sea at a very reasonably price so I'll be re-booking here again next year time I do the run!
Review 7:There is nothing I don't like. I can not fault my stay. Thank you guys
Review 8:First pulled I thought great location couldn't be better. Then I walked in the door and it to my great surprise it got better. So friendly and helpful. No problems nice comfy clean room and great clean shower. Excellent
Review 9:Shower pressure was really poor and water was cold for the majority of the shower. The bathroom ceiling was also mouldy
Review 10:Excellent location. We did the great north run and the metro was really handy.
Review 11:Louise was incredibly accommodating, especially considering I had a few issues (through no fault of the hotel) I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Review 12:There was no proper table in our room, although this was not a huge problem. There was a rather noisy pump in the shower cubicle which activated every time the water was being used. Not a big problem though, but it would nice to fix it.
Review 13:great wifi, clean and comfy beds, great breakfast, fantastic family running the place, really nice. The seaside is very close, 1 minute walk. There is a promenade along the seaside which is great for jogging. TV in the room worked fine with a lot of channels including RT (which is rare I think) and many film channels. Shower and toilet facilities were clean and working properly.
Review 14:Bed was really comfy and place was very quiet. Shower needed tidying up as door didnt shut proper. Water heater in room was knackered. But worked. Didnt stay for breakfast as i had to leave at six A.M. Breakfast starts at 6.30. But overall, for £30, It couldve been a lot worse.
Review 15:I stayed with a group of friends. We loved the place and wouldn't go anywhere else in Whitley bay now. Fantastic family, clean comfy rooms, good breakfast and good location.
Review 16:TThe room was filthy. Mould all over the bathroom ceiling. Bedroom light was hanging in a state where it looked like it was just about to detach and fall off. I am 1m85 tall and i felt claustrophobic in such a small, crammed room.
Review 17:Location is brilliant. Shot distance to the beach and restaurants.
Review 18:Had booked 1 week but only stayed one night as circumstances had changed, asked if I could have part refund & was told no we have taken full amount, we don't do refunds. So it cost £200 for 1 nights stay.
Review 19:Was made welcome by Louise on arrival
Review 20:Liked everything
Review 21:Friendliness of Paul & Louise the owners, very close to the centre of town and the beach, nice warm room and comfortable bed, free WiFi, coffee/tea making facilities all at a very reasonable price.
Review 22:A little out the way of Newcastle itself but metro is great during the day and taxis offer fixed rate (around £20)
Review 23:Perfect for group of friends going down for a 21st birthday. Whitley bay is mostly for an older age group really but Newcastle was easy to get to.
Review 24:The room was poorly designed, with too many beds in the bedroom at the expense of any other furnishing - e.g. bedside tables! Wash basin was in the room not in the en suite - unhygienic. Window fastening was broken and windowsill cracked. There was damp on the ceiling of the en suite shower. Saturday night was very noisy - Sunday night was quieter.
Review 25:Convenient location, late availability, good value for money. Staff were very helpful in accommodating a late booking.
