Reviews for Holyhead Lodge

Review 1:Overall a very positive experience.

Review 2:Room was a bit cramped but the hosts did everything they could to ensure we had everything we needed. The bed was really comfy. The breakfast was fantastic and we were able to linger as long as we wanted.

Review 3:Nothing to dislike.

Review 4:First Class hosts were very welcoming and accommodated us by providing an early breakfast before our ferry journey. Highly recommend this Holyhead gem.

Review 5:website route map to hotel very bad, took 3/4 hour to find instead of minutes, my phone battery had died and few people about at that time

Review 6:Very pleasant host.

Review 7:This is not a hotel as kissed on booking.com, it is a B&B with two tiny rooms in a converted building on the driveway of the property which is shared by several vehicles and two barking dogs. The room we had has a tiny ensuite shower room with just a lace curtain on the window. Having a shower with the light on is giving a show to anyone on the driveway or in the part of the house looking out. It may be fine for singles using the ferry terminal but very poor for a couple intending to stay several nights. We paid for four nights and stayed for three!

Review 8:Owners are really nice couple and breakfast was good

Review 9:we can not fault holyhead lodge or mel and pearl

Review 10:mel and peal run a adorable little b&b the lodges are fantastic you're warmly welcomed and show to your lodge there is a welcome pack that will help you to know holyhead better , the lodge is spotless and well presented can not fault the place or the owners at all , the morning breakfast is great with plenty of choice and it is a great breakfast , all in all a lovely place with fantastic hosts , if your looking for somewhere to stay you won't go wrong with this place, and at the price it's a snip of what its worth

Review 11:TV was at the same end of the bed as the headboard. I remedied this by placing my pillows at the foot of the bed!

Review 12:Great location for the port. The hosts were lovely and couldn't do enough for you - even offering us a lift!

Review 13:Quiet and private location, great for 2 nights with my 8 year old. Pearl and Mel go out of their way to cater for all your needs and cook a great breakfast. Thank you.

Review 14:Nothing! The only negative thing to say was that the pictures on the web site didn't do it justice.

Review 15:My daughter & I stayed here prior to her catching the ferry the following morning. Everything about the Lodge was ideal! It was close to both the ferry and the station for our journeys in the morning, the accommodation was lovely, plenty of space, privacy & super comfy beds and somewhere secure to park the car. The breakfast was made to order and couldn't be faulted. The owners went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. A stay that deserves a 10 out of10. Couldn't be faulted.

Review 16:Holyhead lodge is a lovely place to stay, the room was very nice and very clean a very high standard. The owner's Pearl and Mel could not of been anymore helpful and friendly :-) they both went out of there way to give is lifts around holyhead and to bangor what a lovely couple it was a pleasure to have stayed with them. I will definitely be returning to holyhead lodge. The world needs more people like Pearl and Mel :-)

Review 17:Bed had cheap mattress. Very soggy. Feel all the springs through it. My 'twin. room was to small - should have been a single with one bed. No comfortable chair, or room for one as it was. Minute TV (and I don'r like extra-large ones) not watchable unless twistin round on from small chair near entrance to ensuite.

Review 18:Friendliness of owners and staff. Room v clean. Breakfast good.with plenty of options but only served for one hour.

Review 19:Every thing It's location, the food, but most of all was the Host's and their welcome i would and will stay here again when travelling to Ireland.Best I have had I years.

Review 20:A bit hard to find at first as the roads twist & turn and street signs are not always obvious. This is of no fault of the B&B however, just something to be aware of - bring a map! Once you find it the first time, it's quite simple!

Review 21:Very nice room that was clean and well stocked. Mel left a folder with helpful info on the area as well as a map in my room which I appreciated! Within easy walking distance of both the train & ferry station (they are both in the same building).

Review 22:Just a little too far to walk to town for elderly people.

Review 23:Mel & Pearl were perfect hosts, friendly & informative & Mel even drove us to the train station. Room clean & comfy with everything you need. Excellent breaky. Gorgeous dogs. Would recommend to anyone.

Review 24:The couple who own the lodge go out of their way to meet more than your basic needs, which they do very well. A warm greeting, comfortable room and superb breakfast.

Review 25:Musty cramped room in converted garage in back street opposite the cemetry. Kept awake for over two hours by noisy couple next door until female tripped away at 3am!

Review 26:Breakfast was very good

Review 27:everything was spot on ,coudnt find anything to fault mel was very helpful even told were to go to eat at night and gave us taxi number even that was reliable picked up on time and even going back later that evening was on time really nice chap devine breakfast spoilt for choice very clean room and everything in it spot on will recomed to others.

Review 28:I did not like that I had to leave. I felt virtually at home in this place.

Review 29:So many positives with this property I could not name them all. The en suite area had a very handy small kitchenette, along with the en suite bathroom facilities. The small refrigerator in the room was extremely useful. The wifi was superb! Breakfast was great. Finally, the proprietors were both friendly and wonderfully hospitable. I would highly recommend anyone stay here. Outstanding value!

Review 30:No bad experiences here - only good ones -

Review 31:The hosts and location just two friendly people running their business very well. Typically of old towns a GPS is beneficial in finding the place

Review 32:Owner Pearl very welcoming and took time to explain what they offered and about Holyhead. Twin bedded room had Two toilets, two showers, fridge, microwave, filtered water, fresh milk, Earl Grey tea as well as standard kettle. Lovely home cooked and local sourced breakfast too.

Review 33:Lovely, attentive hosts. Excellent, comfortable accommodation in good very quiet location ideal for Holyhead ferry terminal, railway station, A5 / A55 road links and exploring Anglesey and North Wales. Looking forward to visiting again as soon as I can.

Review 34:I can't fault the place, really nice.

Review 35:A gorgeous room with fridge very clean, the owners went out of their way to ensure a lovely stay, the owner even took me down to the countrypark to show me where my event would be starting. Breakfast was lovely a great choice and all homemade. Absolutly recommended for a friendly homely feel.

Review 36:We were in an outside room, perhaps a converted stable or garage. It was just too small. With our luggage there was literally no floor space. It served a purpose until we could get our hire car the next day. It's a single room at best.

Review 37:The man who helped us on arrival and the next morning couldn't have done better. He was great. It's a quiet town so there was no difficulty getting to bed and having a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very good.

Review 38:nothing was to dislike with this one.

Review 39:I've been to some hotels in my time but this one beats the lot. I'd go back to this one each and every time it's that good. the hosts couldn't have been nicer.

Review 40:the cabins, lodges? smelt and needed airing, bed weird, and being greeted by dogs you felt you were intruding, also too much clutter in the yard ,it felt like trying to squeeze a lot of stuff in a small space. The place has potential needs professionelising

Review 41:the main house looked interesting the rooms might have been ok staff pleasant

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Very warm welcome. Breakfast could not have been better. The room was very warm and comfortable. Pearl and Mel were anxious to please and succeeded.

Review 44:Room was a bit small and cluttered. In the bathroom you had to be a contortionist to reach the toilet roll. The toilet seat did not stay up which is annoying for a man.

Review 45:We were made very welcome and were offered and enjoyed a cafetiere of coffee,

Review 46:Staff over friendly, suitable for many guests but a bit overbearing for those who wish to remain private..

Review 47:Comfortable accommodation, good nights sleep

Review 48:The minute I got out of the taxi it looks like a run down house from view with a few dogs running abt freely on the driveway and gardens. Then your taking to a old shed garage type room on the out side building next dr to a big caravan .i couldn't of changed my mind and asked for a full refund as the minute I booked 2 mths before hand the whole 100euro taken from my account with no refund.i was thinking I only had to pay a deposit had time.and at time of booking in I was told the landlady was away. So that night we had checked in at 17:00 we were asked what time we wanted breakfast at we booked in for 9am and told him what we wanted at 9am as we had a return sailing at 10am that morning .as there was nothing near here or nowhere to go we stayed in. Next morning at 9am we went into their house into the breakfast room we had to order are breakfast again then at 09:45am we still weren't served we were just abt to leave the lady finally brings it in we hadn't the time to eat as we had to run for the boat.they told us it was a 5minute walk in fact we had to run for 15minute ,the ramp had to be lowered for us as we nearly missed . Now I have wrote to booking .com abt this and they say it's up to holyhead lodge to get in touch it's now 5 days no calls or email it's a total rip of I could have got a good hotel for that money I will never stay in this place again .

Review 49:The steps to the house where breakfast was served were difficult for disabled people-the bedrooms were in a separate building.

Review 50:Holyhead lodge offered a friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent-well prepared, hot and well presented. It was an ideal place to stay to catch the ferry.

Review 51:What fantastic hosts- all smiles and dry towels when when we arrived by bike in the pouring rain at 1am! Best cooked breakfast of the holiday and every little extra thoughtfully provided

Review 52:The place was perfect - really picturesque and clean. And Mel and Pearl were extremely friendly and helpful. They provided a map, recommended some good places to visit on Holy Island, and even helped me book a campsite for the following night. I'd recommend Holyhead Lodge to anybody.

Review 53:room rather dark so not to our taste but no major shortfalls

Review 54:friendly helpful owners - lovely breakfast provided early so that we could catch the 8 am boat - parking on site - only a short walk to the centre of town

Review 55:We stayed overnight before a morning ferry to Ireland. We were a little nervous about travelling with our noisy 2 month old, so it was perfect that the rooms were separate from the main house. The owners also helped juggle the baby so we could enjoy our breakfast in the morning! Fab!

Review 56:There might have been more drawer space and the tv reception was not good (probably the area is not the best for this anyway) - but we didn't go on holiday to watch tv.

Review 57:The owners were wonderful - kind and generous to a fault. Breakfast was excellent - plenty and very tasty. Excellent help to tour the island - eating places etc. People make the holiday!

Review 103:The kitchen/cooking facilities were lacking.

Review 104:I liked the peace and quiet of the location.

Review 105:Would have loved a bigger TV!

Review 106:Pearl is an excellent hostess who goes out of her way to provide a service to guests like driving them to the railway station. The cottage is small but comfortable. The bed is very comfortable and one gets a good nights rest. Breakfast is both filling and delicious. Very close to town and the Roman fort ruins is an attraction.

Review 107:The shower didn't work and it required some time to find out how to use it at all.

Review 108:Personal was very friendly and professional. The accommodation was clean and nicely arranged.

Review 109:Beds were not the greatest. Room a little small for 2 people and luggage. Bathroom strange. Wifi needs improving!!

Review 110:Proxcimity to the ferry. Breakfast was good,

Review 111:This is NOT a hotel, but a very small b&b. Room was crammed with overstuffed chairs making it difficult to move. No place for luggage. On demand hot water heater was difficult to use and dangerous!

Review 115:The owners went out of their way by buying a booster seat for my baby for breakfast and driving us then to the train station. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. The fruit was so good it's made me make a new resolution to make a fruit bowl every morning for my daughter! Thank you so much for all you help, kindness and thoughtfulness, have never had as nice an experience and Truely made my stay so much Easier as I was on my own with a young toddler.

Review 116:The rooms were too small. No place for cases and the bathroom was tiny.

Review 117:The owner was very friendly and obliging.Very easy place to catch the ferry from
