Reviews for Raglan House

Review 1:Would have been better if the duvet had been a king size so there was plenty of cover for each person.

Review 2:Very central position. Excellent breakfast. Staff very good.

Review 3:The room was a little dated but clean. The bathroom smelled a bit. The back rooms are quieter if that is important to you.

Review 4:second time I've stayed here. Right on the High Street. Good choice for breakfast.

Review 5:The bathroom was a little tired, the over mirror light didn't work. For the money it was better than i expected

Review 6:Great location, price, breakfast, good value. You can park outside until 9am so if leaving early makes it very convenient

Review 7:Pillows were a bit flat and breakfast had to be very early so restaurant could open.

Review 8:Centrally located in Ross. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and locations for dinner.

Review 9:It was oldy worldly quirky, which was just right for our trip. Central position was ideal although parking was only a couple of minutes away. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 10:Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed and well situated in the middle of the street. We parked in along stay car park which only cost £3.10 per day.

Review 11:Noticed a large cobweb on the ceiling, the bath had a repair on it, not much in the way of toiletries.

Review 12:Was central for what we wanted, breakfast was very good. Lots of hot water.

Review 13:Bit weird not having a reception desk, but not necessarily a bad thing as the staff were immediately on hand for everything! severe lack of taxis in Ross though lol!!!

Review 14:friendly, helpful staff. exceptionally clean...even the tiny ledges on doors and skirting boards!

Review 15:Upon our arrival we were greeted by a very friend front of house chap who couldn't have been more helpful. We were both soaked through from a days canoeing and found the room to be warm and airy. Massive towels, complimentary tea and coffee to warm us up and free WiFi all made for a pleasant stay. In the morning again we were met by the same chap who seated us. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Would highly recommend

Review 16:Not being able to open the windows. The weekend we stayed at the hotel was very hot weatherwise. The room was very hot and stuffy at night and created problems with sleeping.

Review 17:The welcome and the friendliness of the staff. Excellent breakfast with everything cooked from fresh.

Review 18:The rooms decor especially the bathroom was a bit tired, and looked as though it needed a refurb.

Review 19:Raglan House was a last minute booking and on the whole was fairly pleasant stay. It is a historical building, right in the centre of this picturesque town, and the rooms are above the family run cafe

Review 20:The bedroom we were in needed attention. Mould on bath surround and tiles; couldn't use shower without filling up the bath as well, and poor water pressure or perhaps the shower head needed changing. Also a bad smell in the bathroom, possibly the waste pipes. Breakfast the following morning was very disappointing. Instant coffee, cheap tea bags, and the poached eggs were cooked in the microwave. It takes the same amount of time to cook them in boiling water! The bacon was like shoe leather and had obviously been cooked in the oven, and we think tinned mushrooms. We were also told exactly where we had to sit, and there was no one else in the place. Café furniture very old and chairs stained. Sorry, but won't be coming back.

Review 21:It was great to have free Wi-Fi. Stayed at a 5 star Holiday Inn a couple of nights later and had to pay for it.

Review 22:the bedding especially the pillows were VERY over perfumed as though very smell fabric conditioner had not been rinsed out ,or they had been sprayed with something---did not do my asthma any good--cannot remember a worse nights sleep

Review 23:the breakfast was o,k.

Review 24:Couldn't complain about anything!

Review 25:This hotel was ideally located right in the middle of Ross on Wye. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with free WiFi and an excellent breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly and even let us keep the room for an extra ½ hour as we were going to a family wedding and didn't want to leave so early. Would definitely recommend Raglan House and will definitely be back to stay in the future.

Review 26:coffee at breakfast was undrinkable. had to go to Costa over the road! Poor quality towels and bed linen, over-scented

Review 27:the bathroom. Nice to have a bath and the shower was good.

Review 28:In an ideal world, I would have liked an upgraded mattress, but I accept that I am particularly fussy about that and say it about even the finest hotels we stay in.

Review 29:Spacious room with everything you could need. Excellent double glazing, so even though its in the centre of town, there was no problem with traffic noise. Wonderful breakfast - all in all great value.

Review 30:Noise from pub, we came back to hotel at midnight and drunk people pouring into pub/club. Previous clients had smoked in bathroom which still stank of cigarette smoke the next day, not pleasant

Review 31:Very helpful friendly staff, fab breakfast

Review 32:Poor signage when trying to find it! A bit more guidance as to actual location for outsiders would be invaluable. Parking, although cheap, is not on-site. No problem if fine weather and travelling solo, but...................

Review 33:Clean, well-appointed room Excellent facilities like tea/coffee, en-suite, TV GREAT home-cooked full breakfast Superb value for money

Review 34:There was nothing we did not like

Review 35:Very warm welcome by the owner and the breakfast was really to class only stayed one night but will definitely stay again. The room was very comfortable

Review 36:A little noisy in the early hours but nothing to get too excited about.

Review 37:Great location, friendly, helpful owner. Wholesome, plentiful breakfast. A positive stay.

Review 38:Rooms are clean and comfy enough, but well used. Cooked breakfast was average.

Review 39:Pretty cheap, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable beds They reduced my room rate, without me asking as I ended up travelling alone, not with a friend as planned. Great location.

Review 40:Location great within the town high street. Freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Very quite rooms. Rooms facitities very clean. Free WiFi

Review 41:Bathroom a little dated but clean with hot water, towels, soap etc, what more could you want

Review 42:Fantastic staff, attentive, knowledgeable with great customer service skills. Clean, excellent location, brilliant breakfast, easy to find.

Review 43:I have stay at the Raglan House before, I was booked in for the night, when i arrived there was some confusion about my booking they had had a cancellation for my booking, I explained the cancellation was for the second booking as i'd booked 2 rooms for the same night instead of the following Friday night. They were very helpful at finding me alternative accomadation for the night.

Review 44:The smell in our room, when the dirty water came up the plug hole in our bath, when we turned the sink tap on. bathroom wasn't very clean either. The mattresses weren't the most comfortable.

Review 45:It was very central and breakfast was good. The owners were very friendly & attentive

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:Everything. Owned and run by the owners. On arrival I was greeted by the son who introduced himself and carried my back upstairs to my room. Nothing too much trouble for them. Clean towels were supplied after only two nights - I stayed for four and wished it could have been longer. I shall certainly return at the first opportunity. This place is a really good find, central location coupled with the excellent service and good food makes it an ideal place to stay. With the added bonus of 10% discount in the cafe for guests there is no reason to look any further for bed and breakfast in Ross-on-Wye.

Review 48:Sorry to say the beds were very uncomfortable and could feel every spring, parking was quite a walk as on street parking was only for 4 hours also they started building work at 6.40 am drilling concrete.

Review 49:Great breakfast lovely little cafe, nice to have separate access and was in a lovely town.

Review 50:No car park adjoining hotel.

Review 51:Good decoration in lovely clean room. Breakfast is good choice plenty of it & piping hot. Staff very friendly. Great location in the centre of Ross hence no car prk.

Review 52:was surprisingly noisy outside with bars open till 2am and difficult to close windows to block out the noise.

Review 53:Very friendly and excellent breakfast. Bed more comfortable than my own

Review 54:We stayed over a Saturday night and it was a very noisy location which the not very good secondary glazing couldn't cope with. See comment about breakfast in things I liked. Curtains in bedroom 1 could also use blackout lining.

Review 55:Room was very comfortable and clean. Staff friendly. Breakfast good, although being a Cafe was somewhat disappointed that there was no continental style option of muffins/ croissants, just cooked stuff. Nice to be in a small place with not too many other people.

Review 56:Friendly, comfortable, plenty of room, good freshly cooked breakfast served in the cafe downstairs.
