Reviews for Hotel de Montaulbain

Review 1:There are steps to room but owner put luggage in the room for us. Steps were NzoT a problem. GPS didn't get hotel street was one way do that took time to sort but a local helped us out,

Review 2:Owner Helpfulness Position Room There is a friendly, cheerful atmosphere and nothing was a trouble. Highly recommended!

Review 3:Very friendly staff, immaculate and comfortable room, lovely breakfast (including delicious mirabelle jam!). The restaurant recommendation was spot on too. The only possible reason not to give full marks was that the car park (not expensive overnight) is a few hundred metres away, which I suppose could be an issue for older guests, but fine for youngsters like me in my 60s.

Review 4:Everything was terrific! The location is great. The hotel has been newly remodeled, is spotless and very quaint. The two gentlemen who run the place are in a class by themselves. They treat their guests with the respect and courtesy you only see these days in old movies.

Review 5:Nothing in particular. The room was rather hot (during a heat wave) and a fan would have been good to have in the room. Initially a bit confusing about driving to the hotel .

Review 6:Good location with parking just up the street a little. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room.

Review 7:The hotel is a little difficult to find with a GPS. The stairs can be difficult for someone with limited mobility. Parking is also limited and not on site.

Review 8:The hosts were most friendly and helpful. It is centrally located and has an interesting historical background. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Review 9:Thought the breakfast a little expensive for what was offered.

Review 10:Comfortable bed. A small bedroom but everything you needed was there. Great location in the centre of town.

Review 11:No lift and 4 flights of stairs and no access to your room until 5pm.

Review 12:Comfortable and well priced. Obliging owners who allowed us to drop our luggage off in the morning.

Review 13:Breakfast was a little overpriced, 11 Euros each for only a croissant, two slices of bread and a coffee/ orange juice.

Review 14:Very friendly staff, personal approach. Spacious room, free wifi and quiet location

Review 15:Well located in a quiet street in Verdun. Parking 3 mins walk in public car park. Exceptionally friendly and attentive owner who upgraded our room for free as the hotel was not full

Review 16:No complaints. Had a good stay :-)

Review 17:Good location and room was very nice. Seems like it has been renovated recently or perhaps is kept in really good condition. It was clean, comfy and had all the necessities. Owners were very nice as well.

Review 18:We felt very welcome, check in was easy. Location is on a small lightly used street, so very quiet. It was a bit tricky to drive to because of convulated one way roads (typical in Europe). Parking overnight in parking lot about 150m was free overnight. Close walk to multiple restaurants, near the river, Citadel and cathedral. 15 min drive to all battlefield sites. A little pricey, but a nice clean hotel in a good location.

Review 19:No parking although public parking in Place de la Libération about 3 minutes walk away. Hard to find Can't check in before 1700 Breakfast at €11 not great value

Review 20:cheap

Review 21:The wifi was a little confusing (there were 3 different connections available), but not impossible to connect to. I am sure they will address the issue

Review 22:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy to talk to and attentive for details. You could get a sense of the personal involvement they have put into this hotel, I recommend it to both tourists and business travelers

Review 23:Lots of stairs to the bedroom which guests would find difficult if you weren't very ambulant. Also the car park was a walk from the hotel. It would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room.

Review 24:Very quiet comfortable hotel with excellent beds. Proprietors very welcoming and spoke very good English which was helpful.

Review 25:stairs

Review 26:friendly, helpful hosts (also the owners) very comfortable beds and pillows breakfast was plentiful great location would definitely recommend this hotel to others

Review 27:stairs, however, the owners took our luggage up and down the stairs for us

Review 28:the beds and pillows were the most comfortable out of the 11 hotels we stayed in during our trip to France and Italy the friendliness of our hosts. always eager to assist, always have a smile the breakfasts were wonderful (thank you Viktor) the rooms are large and clean, the bathrooms are spotless

Review 29:A little difficult to find, but our gps was not working properly! It's not too far from the main road by the river, perhaps we shouldhave done a bit more work on checking directions.

Review 30:All of it - see above

Review 31:Parking was about 150metres away up as fairly steep hill so not ideal for dragging suitcases if you have mobility issues. Check in is after 5pm and is strictly adhered to,we arrived at 4.10pm to find the door locked we rang the bell, eventually the owner answered and told us we couldn't go to our room and would have to go back at 5pm,he did let us leave our bags though. This in my opinion is not how a hotel operates this is more of a B&B and at the price there should be more flexibility. The bedroom was small and the bathroom was tiny with only a small corner sink, even the owner admitted it was small. The room was very noisy we could hear the person next door snooring all night! Verdun seems to have as shortage of better class hotels and the ones there are capitalise on this shortage to overcharge on what is a very basic hotel.

Review 32:The hotel was well placed in the centre of town but this means no on site parking. Breakfast was fresh and well presented. Staff were pleasant and friendly. The bed was comfortable.

Review 33:Can't think of anything!

Review 34:Easy to find in the centre of Verdun, very comfortable room. Hotel looked like it was recently refurbished. Staff (owner) was very friendly. Room was clean, bed very comfortable. We stayed for one night but this would make a great base for a couple of nights touring. Parking was close by - just be careful when navigating narrow streets. Cheerful breakfast.

Review 35:Wonderful small hotel; very clean updated rooms with a comfortable bed and nice bedding, fantastic little bathroom with makeup mirror and good lighting. We loved this hotel and highly recommend it.
