Reviews for Somerville House
Review 1:The wifi, as in many b&bs, was problematic. But if wifi in the room is not a prerequisite for you then this place is ideal
Review 2:Cosy surroundings with a very good breakfast
Review 3:The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the train station, 15 minutes from the town centre. The staff were very friendly and extraordinarily accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay.
Review 4:A beautiful furnished house with a sense of elegance and style. The staff and owners are extremely polite and courteous at all times ---- a very professional run establishment .
Review 5:Small room at top of building - rather claustrophobic and lots of stairs. The water pressure in the shower was also consequently very low so you had to 'run around to get wet'.
Review 6:Lovely comfy bed - excellent breakfast and friendly service. We stayed in the winter but a summer visit would be nice as there is a beautiful garden. It was a 20 minute walk to town.
Review 7:We were visiting my daughter and family who live in the middle of Hereford ,and to enjoy some time with our Grandchildren . Somerville house has been and remains our first choice ,as a place to stay on such trips ,the owners are charming ,the rooms excellent and the breakfast is great .
Review 8:Friendly welcome from the girl on reception. (Sorry, don't recall her name). Very helpful when I asked for early breakfast, which was very hot and freshly cooked.
Review 9:Absolutely immaculate! Lovely staff who couldn't do enough to help. Lovely breakfast. Excellent value for money. Would most definitely recommend.
Review 10:The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice, large enough, and even a bit luxurious. Next time I visit the area, this will be my default choice of place to stay.
Review 11:The only down side was two flights of stairs to our room, next time we will request a first floor room.
Review 12:Staff friendly and welcoming, high quality of room and food. First class in every respect, would recommend to all my friends and family and return myself.
Review 13:I don't have any negative things to say!
Review 14:The staff were really helpful and friendly, even when I had to leave really early on the Sunday morning (before 8am) they offered to cook me an early breakfast before the official start time of 8.30am. The food is delicious, including the homemade jams and the sensibly-priced minibar in the room was a bonus. Would happily stay here again.
Review 15:2 members of staff walked into the room on the second morning...while we were in bed. Upon checkout the woman had no shoes on, didn't listen to us and the PDQ machine wasn't working. Sky light meant the room wasn't incredibly dark.
Review 16:Brought us breakfast upstairs. Comfortable room.
Review 17:Sound quality on TV a little tinny (not a serious criticism).
Review 18:High standard of service, comfort and friendliness. Breakfasts, particularly home made preserves, were outstanding. Good quality ingredients throughout.
Review 19:The staff were a little slow serving breakfast and no-one asked me if I wanted a hot drink or to take my order. I had to ask! My 3 friends were already having their breakfast when I arrived at the table and it was as though I didn't exist to the staff when I arrived!
Review 20:The room was lovely (room 10). Very quiet, peaceful and comfortable night.
Review 21:I stayed recently with my sister we had am amazing twin room that had everything you could wish for from a fridge stocked with locally produced wine and cider to an array of teas and coffees. Breakfast was again all locally sourced produce and delicious. The service was excellent and the owners and staff so helpful and friendly. We have stayed in 5 star hotels that aren't as good as this guest house.
Review 22:Single room was quite small.
Review 23:Great welcome--tea in the garden, plus tips on local sites and restaurants. Rosie (the proprietor) offers her homemade jams and marmalade each morning as part of a beautiful breakfast.
Review 24:Nothing at all.
Review 25:To be welcomed with the offer of tea on the terrace after the train journey from the other side of London was great. Breakfast options were delicious. Rooms were comfortable with everything we needed.
Review 26:Loved the bottled water and choc each day (quite often water is only left on the first night) Breakfast was excellent with blueberries etc in the fruit salad .
Review 27:quiet area, not too far from the train station and bus routes, friendly staff who get the guests talking to one another which is great if you are a solo traveller. Safe and secure with your own access keys. All food from breakfast to the mini bar is locally sourced which highlights how much thought has gone into the hotel and how proud the staff are to work there and represent the local area too. I would book with them again if I am back in the area.
Review 28:Only some very minor points - I'm not a fan of sauce bottles on the table at breakfast, when a little pot is so much nicer. Also did feel that there wasn't very much flexibility around the time of breakfast - when we asked about whether this could be before 8.30am, the response was no! Am sure it wasn't meant to be unhelpful but in many ways, 8.30am is actually quite late for breakfast. Minor points but still memorable for not the best of reasons.
Review 29:Very comfortable, welcoming venue - friendly staff, who made our stay just easier. Excellent breakfasts which set our day off well ...... lovely welcome and immediate offer of refreshments, which was just what we needed after a long drive. Lovely place, lovely stay!
Review 30:It seemed a little pricey but room size and bathroom made up for that. Carpets in communal area need cleaning but nothing bad.
Review 31:The room was massive and bed was very comfortable. Best Shower I have had. Great Bath. Amazing room and bathroom. At first breakfast looked small in portion but it was perfect portion and taste was very good too. Good Service. Although the old guy forgets a little but it still is very good Location is close to station. Wish it was more in the city but all walkable and taxi service is very quick and affordable in Hereford. Great place with Character
Review 32:Very friendly stall throughout the stay. Tea and biscuits offered on arrival. Bedroom lovely. Quality towels/bed linen. We also were supplied with fluffy dressing gowns and slippers. Tea and coffee making facilities were of high quality even with a teapot! Breakfast was anazing with ingredients all locally sourced. Highly recommend this 5* B&B

Review 36:cant think of anything really!
Review 37:10 minute walk into town. Very pleasant staff, available but not intrusive. Really comfy bed. Excellent shower! Home made jam, and whisky marmalade at breakfast, not my cup of tea, but a real nice touch.

Review 40:My room wasn't ready for me to check in which was a nuisance. I had to leave my bag and go straight out to lunch. Quite expensive for a single room
Review 41:Welcoming helpful staff
Review 42:We were in a room on the lower ground floor and the escape route was through the Owners flat. The windows could not open due to a plant pot outside. This made us feel uncomfortable but the receptionist did offer to move us. Suggest not to choose these rooms
Review 43:The staff were all extremely helpful with a really friendly welcome and a pot of tea on arrival! The standard of cleanliness and comfort was excellent and the breakfast superb. An excellent place to stay if a bit of a way out of Hereford.
