Reviews for Hotel Cymyran
Review 1:Storm overnight had wind howling through gaps in windows and door - very noisy! Also heating was not working properly - radiators seemed to need bleeding?
Review 2:position of hotel was perfect. Staff friendly. Hotel was very clean.
Review 3:After showing the tiles in the bathroom were loose and dangerous and resulted in one becoming loose completely and my wife ending up with a bruised foot. The hotel staff apologised for this and told us that maintenance would rectify the fault.
Review 4:The bedroom was large and clean, although we could not get the TV to operate.
Review 5:...but £85 for B&B (single occupancy of a double room) just seemed rather pricey.
Review 6:All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was nicely presented and clean. Breakfast was excellent. So everything about the hotel was fine...
Review 7:Small table situated at the end of the bed. Easy to forget about in the middle of the night as I found out when I walked into it.
Review 8:The staff were very friendly and helpful with all our needs. Bed was comfortable and room was clean and tidy on arrival
Review 9:The breakfast was very poor. Waited half an hour for a cooked breakfast. Poor self service facilities, poor choice of food. Very poor value for money. Staff stressed! The rooms were noisey due to being able to hear chairs being moved on the hard floors below.
Review 10:The rooms were large and nicely decorated.
Review 11:The breakfast was not brilliant with not a lot of choice.
Review 12:The staff were lovely and we had a nice dinner in the restaurant. Room was a good size and had a shared balcony.
Review 13:Could have used drinks fridge to store medical supplies and water and a nightcap watching rugby on TV!!!
Review 14:Have stayed here several times en route to Ireland- good location with pleasant surroundings for walks, etc. Restaurant/bar facilities good.
Review 15:Several lights not working in the rooms and bathroom lights flickering on and off constantly. Food in restaurant poor-staff locked out when we came down for breakfast at 7 am.
Review 16:Rooms comfortable
Review 17:Breakfast was reasonable, it had changed since our last stay 2 months previously. Cheap loaves of bread instead of the nice crusty loaves provided last time. Food trickled out,so you had to keep waiting.
Review 18:Family room was excellent for us, very comfortable for a family of four. The room was clean, large open space. Bathroom with separate shower and bath.
Review 19:The dining staff where miserable excellent food but smile more with a Bubblerly personality would make all the difference
Review 20:size of the rooms the balcony bit and the standard of the evening meal was excellent
Review 21:no bad experience ,but food needs more seasoning to make it taste much better .sorry a good Chef will tell you ,please always taste and add salt !!!
Review 22:super bedroom ,apart from noise of extractor !!!
Review 23:Very busy at night & wasn't warned about booking in for a meal so we had to sit in the bar, didn't seem like there was enough staff on. Only 1 person on the bar serving 10 people at once.
Review 24:Location, staff are friendly, bed is comfy, balcony great.
Review 25:Awful customer service. Indifferent staff at reception and in the restaurant. Prosecco not chilled and left us to open, had to find our own wine glasses, over-priced average food, no proper coffee at breakfast. Ruined our wedding anniversary celebration.
Review 26:Peaceful, pleasant room.
Review 27:Breakfast was a little hit and miss, alough fairly good. Only instant coffee avaiable, however a new machine had been installed, but we were told,'' We dont know how to work it yet'' !
Review 28:Much improved since last visit, standard of room first class. Friendly staff, location is great for touring the island, really good shower, lots of hot water.
Review 29:Stark exterior, no garden. Food quality was hit and miss, sometimes good, sometimes terrible. Breakfast not great, no juice, burnt toast (or not toasted), no fresh coffee, pastries ran out.
Review 30:Nice big room, good beds. Good location for exploring Anglesey.
Review 31:The staff were warm, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. A large comfortable spacious room. Very clean with lots of drawer space as well. The dining was very good ... excellent dinner and breakfast , generous serves. No need to look elsewhere for a restaurant this little hotel is a gem!
Review 32:Had problem with very rude and unhelpful Problem with 1 staff member in the restaurant which is a shame as the rest of the staff were really helpful and friendly she really let the Hotel down but to be fair did report it and hopefully they will sort the member of staff out. Also could sort the view out of the restaurant it wasn't a pretty site was better when it was a horse riding arena.
Review 33:Hotel is so relaxing and peaceful a real chill out stay. The rooms were very nice bright and airy. The Bar was very good and most of the staff were very good. The location is amazing and the short walk past the air base to the beach is well worth it the beach is amazing so peaceful.
Review 34:A bit disappointed with restaurant in evening. Sea-bass and chicken overcooked and dry. Not everything on menu available. That said I think that we came after a very large booking for 50.
Review 35:Overall great
Review 36:The fire alarm went off at 01.30am. All the guests evacuated outside in nightwear, but there were no staff present to give guidance. The fire brigade attended and the alarm went twice more in succession. Eventually allowed back in at 02.30 Told next morning it was a spider in side one of the sensors. It was a very disturbed night we requested a reduction in the bill, but none came.
Review 37:night reception staff blunt & rude! told me i was lazy for considering room service! bathroom shower and tiles could do with an update ( still had a curtain which didnt contain the water well) not much choice at breakfast with regard to fruit or yoghurt not everyone eats full english! carpet stains and grubby grout let the room down
Review 38:view from bedroom was wonderful - nice and quiet no traffic noise - just a shame large vent on balcony gave off noise
Review 39:Bathroom door in room 12 was hard to open or close due to lifting floor tiles.
Review 40:Hotel was comfortable and staff very pleasant. Bedroom had 2 chairs which is unusual even in 4/5 * hotels.
Review 41:Main meal was awful couldn't eat it neither could my huband..when you arrive you wouldn't even know it's a hotel .looks like a army barrack
Review 42:Breakfast was good
Review 43:Staff presented as polite but lacked enthusiasm for their job and sadly we had a very noisy night, with shouting, banging and what sounded like chairs dragging across hard floors. Not great with small children trying to sleep.
Review 44:Well presented, clean hotel with comfortable beds. Room size was very generous and well suited for a family.
Review 45:The pillows were very thin and poor quality. A noisy plant room close by which meant we couldn't have the window open due to the noise.
Review 46:The hotel was great. Rooms were a great size with a large bathroom with a bath & a separate shower. The bef was enormous.
Review 47:We had a ferry at 8.55am and on checking in we asked for an earlier breakfast as it was from 8am. We were told that we could have a hot breakfast from 7.30am but this was not the case and they only offered a continental breakfast. There was quite a few people taking this up and even the manager in the restaurant said he had opened for breakfast earlier due to the amount of people getting the ferry. If they know this I think that as you pay for breakfast they should make it available
Review 48:It was in a good location for the ferry terminal for Ireland as very close. Nice polite staff and friendly.
Review 49:Staff are very helpful and friendly, accommodated all our requests. All meals taken at the hotel were excellent and good value for money. Room was very good size and comfortable.
Review 50:We had dinner and breakfast, both meals for both of us were very poor being either undercooked or overcooked. The service for dinner was shambalic allthough the dinning room was not busy.
Review 51:Fairly handy for ferry terminal.
Review 52:The restaurant went into melt down on Saturday night. Not as if there were lots of people in it since it was less than half full. Not enough menus' and a long wait for every course. Staff didn't seem to know what to do, what was happening and when asked if meal was coming never came back with an answer. Will give it one more visit in the future but if the restaurant hasn't improved then will not stay there any more.
Review 53:Nice friendly hotel, great views and good size modern rooms. Good choice at breakfast.
Review 54:Evening meal on first night was very poor. Waited for 3/4 of an hour for starter which was tepid on surface & hot underneath (clearly heated in microwave) greasy and under seasoned. Price taken off bill due to wait. Spaghetti Bol as main course tasted nothing like it should- plate of browned mince with spag stirred in. Left half. Chose desert from menu which wasn't available. Also told no ice cream as freezer had been left open. Took choice recommended. Was very good. The waitresses & Manager were the saving grace who were courteous and as helpful as possible under difficult circumstances and who worked hard to manage complaints from several tables around the room. Breakfast - juicer out of order. No filtered coffee. Had to make do with instant sachets.
Review 55:Excellent, quiet location close to a beautiful beach. Staff were excellent and extremely helpful.
Review 56:Restaurant waitresses need some training in customer service. Number of staff in kitchen unable to cope with number of diners.
Review 57:Good location. Good lay out of bar and restaurant.
Review 58:The waiting on staff in the morning very disorganised and slow long wait for breakfast and little things waiting for butter and condiments . Shouldn't they be available before your meal comes and not half way through ! Also we had to send wife's breakfast back with a long hair in it . No apology and reception didn't ask was all ok upon check out
Review 59:Staff in restaurant were incredibly slow and didn't know what they were doing. At breakfast we waited almost half an hour for poached eggs on toast. Most uncomfortable pillows ever experienced; woke up both days with stiff neck and shoulders.
Review 60:Spacious room
Review 61:Not really a bad one but the breakfast service was understaffed, the poor woman looking after us all was rushed off her feet.
Review 62:It was a lovely place to stay rather than in Holyhead, though looked a bit unusual from the outside. Rooms were very pleasant and well maintained. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.
Review 63:The tea/ coffee and toast making area was cramped. Guests sitting near were constantly interrupted in their meal by other guests trying to get their breakfast The tea making area was kept clean... Sugar was in a bowl which became clumped and unappealing
Review 64:The staff were very friendly and the hotel wax clean and comfortable
Review 65:The drinks machine at breakfast & lack of sugar & milk on the tables causes queues so is a bit chaotic.
Review 66:Good location. The breakfast menu is very good, plenty of choice, good quality & well cooked.
Review 67:On our first night we orderd a meal but found that the hotel had run out off a variety off foods. After 4 attemps we had dinner. For the prises the hotel was asking for each meal , didn't think this was exceptable. so for the rest off our stay . We found our meals elsewhere
Review 68:Our Room was very nice
Review 69:The Wifi was terrible but this was all over The area. We were there for a gymnastics meet so maybe too many people using wifi but all over town same problem. The hotel should supply facecloth for foreign travelers who are used to having them supplied. Hotel is off beaten path nothing in walking distance .
Review 70:The staff were super friendly rooms clean shower had great water pressure, restaurant food was good.
Review 71:Window onto shared balcony was faulty (locking mechanism faulty/corroded) and couldn't be opened or shut easily. Gave concern for security. Staff whilst helpful seemed to lack basic service skills. Chef needs to check meals before sending them out to make sure they are complete!
Review 72:Close location to RAF Valley which is good if you like jets (as I do) but go during the week as they don't seem to fly at night or at weekends. Comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and well stocked bar/lounge area. Good base for exploring the rest of the Island.
Review 73:Not what we expected from the exterior. The room was in a separate block. It was a bit small and the carpets were tired looking. Valance was very creased and dirty on the bed . Restaurant more like a dining hall. Seated next to a big noisy fridge. No ambience at all. Evening Meal and breakfast both arrived with items missing. Stone floors everywhere in main hotel so does not feel very homely. Very much a hotel for the business traveller.
Review 74:The location was good. The food was of a good quality.
Review 75:We were made very welcome and the owners were friendly and helpful. The place has a lovely outlook to the west over the sea and the views of the sunset were great. A quiet spot, out of the town, and an excellent guest house.
Review 76:broken bottle on balcony along with bits of wood and roof tiles (handed bottle in to front office) waiting a hour to be seated for evening meal, and power cut in the morning, so all in all not a great stay.
Review 77:Ordered a plain burger.... Arrived with egg and cheese was returned to us having been obviously scraped clean... Due to allergies couldn't be eaten.
Review 78:The Receptionist was amazing..... Couldn't have been more helpful!
Review 79:Bar and restaurant very understaffed. Were waiting a lot and ended up having to approach waitress both at breakfast and dinner so she could take our order and also when we wanted more drinks. Ordered drinks and were waiting 15 minutes and then we went up to the bar and they had been sat on the side!
Review 80:Room was great (stayed at the lodge room 22). Great shower, very clean. Food at restaurant was nice. Nice views from room, in the middle of nowhere which we enjoyed.
Review 81:Bad management of food/restaurant issues and chastising the youngsters in front of guests. Tired rooms un-vacuumed carpets (possibly for weeks) Rotten wooden shower trays Mouldy bathroom grout/sealants
Review 82:The younger staff were great and enthusiastic and willing to go the extra mile. Great food (where they had it - 9 dishes missing from one nights menu and no sausages for breakfast?)!
Review 83:We ate once in the restaurant. The kitchen is only open until 9 and we arrived down at about a quarter to. I wonder if the kitchen staff were already preparing for their getaway - my meal was (in my opinion) a reheat from the microwave, the sauce encrusted onto the plate, the prawn rubbery and hard. I nibbled on a couple of prawns but left the rest on the plate and explained to the waitress why I wasn't eating it. Instead of an apology, I was told that she couldn't understand it, as 3 or 4 of these dishes had been eaten and praised in the course of the evening. Maybe they had been freshly prepared?
Review 84:The room was great - spacious, with a large balcony. The staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly.. but also hugely under pressure at breakfast and evening meals.
Review 85:The restaurant service was chaotic. They were understaffed and we could only get a table for 8:45pm. Then they weren't ready to seat us so we were shown to a dirty table in the bar area that took them half an hour to clean. Food came out eventually but orders were wrong and my son's chicken was dangerously under-cooked! Breakfast service was a little better but not much. Guests had to keep asking for tea and coffee cups, bread for toaster ran out, tables were left dirty as guests waited to be seated...
Review 86:Staff were very friendly and our family room was modern, spacious and clean. There were plenty of fluffy white towels, toiletries and yummy biscuits on the tea and coffee tray.
Review 87:There is nothing i can say as we stayed one night and it was perfect
Review 88:Staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms very modern and spotless. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 89:Bedroom too small, we had to climb over our cases, bathroom was also tiny one had to manouver on to toilet, if I had been a large person I could not have done it.
Review 90:staff were friendly, hotel clean and tidy.
Review 91:Stayed with friends who slept above the bar area - or didn't. Singing finally stopped at 03.00, staff seem to have no policy for dealing with disruptive guests so that the bar stayed open until they had finished. Very mixed staff responses to the issue but generally unhelpful
Review 92:The room was comfortable with a modern bathroom. The food was excellent and the friendly staff tried very hard to be accommodating and helpful. Although the hotel was not close to other amenities, there is a good bar and restaurant and the most beautiful beach is within walking distance.
Review 93:The hotel staff are very keen and helpful however on the busy Saturday night we stayed they clearly needed help as the restaurant and bar were unable to cope with the demand.
Review 94:Nice friendly hotel - although a little pricey
Review 95:Was a bit chilly at night but probably did not find out how to manage the heater... ;)
Review 96:Extremely arranging staff (booked a room for 4 with no notice as we had missed our ferry to Ireland). Nice big bedroom in the welsh countryside. Nice breakfast!
Review 97:a group off lads came in on the friday and disrupted the hotel in the early hours of saturday shouting swearing and singing rugby songs at the top of their voices, this lasted for over 2 hours and the night staff did nothing about it hence not much sleep.
Review 98:staff very friendly
Review 99:Bed did not have a mattress cover. Floor tiles in bathroom of room 12 were loose due to the shower leaking onto the floor and this dissolving the grouting leaving white marks on feet and door jamming on the raised tiles. A pity, as the rest of the bedroom was very nice.
Review 100:Spaceous bedroom, modern fittings, nice view from balcony towards Holyhead mountain.
Review 101:Location was ideal for us as we were visiting our son at RAF Valley. Enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine with a beer and watching the Hawks (planes, not birds!) doing circuits overhead. Room was very comfortable and quiet with a balcony overlooking the countryside. Bar area was good, with a good choice of beers and a friendly and efficient barman. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of fresh produce and hot food cooked to order. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone attending RAF Valley.
Review 102:The room was small and the TV position is bad. I had to limbo under it to go to the loo at night. Meals in restaurant expensive for size of portions.
Review 103:Free WiFi and a good breakfast
Review 104:Wifi a bit problematic, the odd coffee stain on room carpet
Review 105:comfortable hotel, nice decor, good restaurant, food and breakfast. Close to A55, Holyhead and Coast. good value for money.
Review 106:This is our 4th or 5th visit. Enjoyable again. Good base for a night or 2 in Angelsey. Would definitely recommend a stay. Nice bar area for a night cap.
Review 107:Staff were lovely- very helpful- nice little touches like returning from our day out to find biscuits tucked under our daughter's teddy's arm. Ate in the restaurant both nights- impressed with the food. Good sized room. The planes are amazing to watch- they don't go through the night. We would definitely visit again.
Review 108:The service in the restaurant and bar was awful partly due to new staff but basic principles were ignored and it was amusing to see plates of food come in and out of the kitchen 3 times. The couple next to us walked out after nearly 2 hours of no food
Review 109:Room was clean and quiet
Review 110:Not able to get into restaurant at booked time, staff unhelpful and said would get to us when they could! Got into restaurant still could not order finally ordered 45 minutes after time table booked!
Review 111:Room size and clean
Review 112:The television remote control had more food and dirt on it than a seaside cafe menu, but it would need someone with a lot of time and patience to clean it, it looked disgusting. Otherwise an excellent place to stay, I'll be back with my wife for a nice weekend break.
Review 113:Comfortable bed with a decent quilt (most hotels have thin quilts). Quiet surroundings but only 10 minutes from Holyhead. Friendly staff, good parking, nice powerful shower, decent sized television, modern bathroom suite, good lighting in the room (non of the dim energy saver bulbs that you can't read by).
Review 114:The only down side was the dinning arrangements. We booked a dinner time on each night but the policy was to get a drink, place your order and wait in the bar until your meal was ready and then proceed into the restaurant for your meal up to an hour after your time. We would to have preferred to have had a proper dinning experience of sitting at your table at the booked time.
Review 115:The hotel was very clean, food was good, staff were friendly and the location is an ideal base for exploring Anglesey.
Review 116:The location is a bit of an adventure but worth it - this is a solid property that has a good solid approach to guests. Avoid staying in Holyhead at all cost - you'll be depressed within 5 minutes (a terrible place!). Stay here and stay happy
Review 117:Given its proximity to the airforce base the jets were very loud but this was only during the day
Review 118:After getting off the ferry and realising our hire car didn't show up the staff here were very accomodating and found us another night.
Review 119:The hotel is just out of Holyhead on a quiet lane. Close to Valley RAF base (which is closed at weekends) and provides the comfort and friendliness of a family run hotel
Review 120:Typical Anglesey weather, why does it always rain when we visit !!!!!!
Review 121:We travel to Anglesey every couple of months to visit family and wish we had found this hotel earlier. The standard of the room was excellent and the breakfast was hot and fresh and not self service as we have experienced in some hotels on our many travels. Staff were very friendly and the hotel had recently been refurbished to a very high standard. We stayed for 2 nights on B&B rates which was excellent value. Thank you for a great weekend
Review 122:Bed mattress badly needed replacing. Each even slight movement brought forth a series of 'beoings' from the springs.
Review 123:Remarkably high, outstanding even, decor and facilities. Superb staff.
Review 124:Loved the hotel, nothing bad or negative about it, staff were more than happy to help and very friendly, very Modern facilities including free wifi tv, shower and bath, amazing views overlooking surrounding areas, very comfy bed and lovely food!! 5** rating
Review 125:Got there late (11pm) got a warm welcome. Opened bar for us and made us some sandwiches. Great hotel great room great meals great staff. Will be returning and recommending.
Review 126:The room and hotel in general were chilly. It was cold outside but they didnt seem to have adjusted the heating. We asked for an extra heater which we got. The location was a bit out of the way for us but not too far from Holyhead. We had a couple of pizzas which werent great but generally the food was ok
Review 127:The staff were friendly and helpful The room was clean, tidy and nicely decorated with plenty of room The breakfast was good with a good choice
Review 128:Heating in the room was turned off in the room. we arrived at about 10.30pm on a very stormy cold night in January and really would have loved the warm comfort that the room promised. Secondly no heating on during the day in the rooms it was freezing. Reception said it's never on because the building keeps the heat. Not. But loved the place and would go again.
Review 129:Clean nice spacious rooms. Good breakfast.
Review 130:the breakfast was very nice plenty of choice ,we would of preferred a menu new years eve ,not a buffet, apart from that we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and shall visit again in the future . thank you for your welcome ,rob & carol
Review 131:Shower in bathroom needs up dating, perhaps made into a cubicle without a curtain, as bathroom floor gets very wet.
Review 132:Lovely hotel, ideal for a weekend break, clean and comfortable and friendly and helpful staff. Conveniently situated for visiting our son and his family at RAF Valley.
Review 133:Nothing that comes to mind
Review 134:Basically everything, we did a short break weekend and for value for money it was beyond expectations. The staff were excellent and friendly, sorting out any problems with ease, Food was great, buffet breakfast was superb. would recommend to anyone.
