Reviews for Hotel Agelis

Review 1:Not a bad experience as such, but a heads-up. In the hotel information it says that an airport shuttle service can be provided for a charge. I thought this meant that the hotel would arrange something, so after I booked I emailed to ask. Eventually I spoke to George on the phone who explained the options to me - basically either a taxi for about 60-70 euros, or the airport bus from the airport to Volos, then a local bus. The bus option was quite do-able - the airport bus drops you off at the bus station from where the bus to Kala Nera departs, so it's straightforward enough, but a good idea to take a local map with you so that you know where to get off in the main road at Kala Nera as the bus doesn't go into the village itself. The stop is only 5 minutes' walk if that from the hotel, but you have to watch out for it!

Review 2:This is a simple, no-frills hotel beautifully located in the small village resort of Kala Nera - with a lovely beach, lots of tavernas and local shops. The rooms are small but comfortable and breakfasts are great. It's a family business, and George the owner/manager speaks excellent English and takes pride in making guests feel comfortable and at home.

Review 3:Take into consideration that the rooms are small. But totaly acceptable for the price we paid.

Review 4:Great staff. George & his father are super nice and helpfull. The hotel is fully renovated and very clean. The breakfast was excellent. Location couldn't be better

Review 5:Nothing. All our wishes were met.

Review 6:Foremost the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff are commendable. We were welcomed by a warm greeting. The location was was perfect with lovely tavernas near- by on the water. Surprising a complete breakfast was possible to order instead of a buffet. A real plus for the hotel. Muliple languages were spoken by the staff.

Review 7:Here we felt like in a 5* hotel. Very friendly owner, nice location and tasty and rich breakfast. The owner gave us helpfull info for the area, for the beaches taverns... This hotel has the best roof top garden in kala nera, perfect! George thank you for the perfect holiday

Review 8:Wonderful location, 2 minutes’ walk from the beach but far enough from the restaurants and bars so it’s quiet and pleasant. Every morning we were greeted with a smile followed by a good breakfast and suggestions what to do and where to go. George the son of the owner really knows Pelion and gave us direction to all the great beaches and villages.

Review 9:That my stay was so short!

Review 10:Friendly small village atmosphere. Owner very willing to do all they can to make you feel welcome - even free bicycles on loan!

Review 11:small bathroom and no place for drying swimsuits

Review 12:nice hotel , good location , hearty and delicious breakfast , kind owners - the best choice to Kala Nera

Review 13:What a brilliant place. Impeccably clean, extremely good value and great location. We were treated like kings and felt very at home with our friendly hosts who bent over backwards to accommodate all of our wishes even rushing out for tonic when there was none left for G&Ts. I have rarely experienced such amazing customer service and would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Review 14:no complains!

Review 15:We have been warmly welcomed and could enjoy the great Greek hospitality every day. The breakfast was outstanding and Christos (the owner) tried to accomplish any desire. Thank you!

Review 16:A clean and cozy family hotel with nice interior and comfortable room. The breakfast was generous and tasteful. Although it's a bit tricky to visit Kala Nera off season, it's a lovely spot to stay while explorring the Pelion Peninsula; and the warm welcome -a cup of coffee with a taste of the delicious home made jams- added my feeling that I arrived the right place.

Review 17:Absolutely nothing.

Review 18:100% alles!!! Upon arrival we were offered immediately a welcome drink en received detailed information about the hotel and surroundings. Extremely vriendly and good English speaking owner/staff. Son & father are running this small family hotel, with only one main only target: happy and satisfied customers which hopefully return once. Cleanliness of rooms outstanding. Different breakfast choices, all of them we tried great!

Review 19:Nothing.

Review 20:Staff very friendly. George Agelis will arrange everything for you whatever you ask for. Rooms are excellent and nice decorated. Quiet and clean hotel. Breakfast is fresh, served at your table and more than enough. Welcoming drink at arrival. Good prices, not to expensive.

Review 21:The owner hospitality was very pleasant for us , he tried to do almost everything to make our hollyday awesome . Everything was great , very clean hotel , breakfast with more choices , close to the beach .

Review 22:The mattress was a little to hard for me.

Review 23:It is a very lovely place, about 100 m from the sea. When you get there, the owner, a very dedicated and friendly person, has invited us over a drink to welcome us in his hotel, and explained us everything we should know while staying there. The first thing he said, was: "This is your home for the next week. My job is to make you feel like home!" and so he did!! We had the pleasant surprise to find out that we had more benefits at this 1 star hotel than we had in a 3 or 4 star hotel. I will let the owner tell u about this! :D For breakfast we had 7 different alternatives...so there is for sure something for every taste. Lunch and dinner could be served at the taverns by the sea (you have to try the dishes and the atmosphere at the Paris Taverna!). To sum up, I would say this is a hotel of more than 1 star!! with a friendly staff who speaks english, greek, and german, a hotel where you can relax, where you actualy feel like home! I would definitely recomand this hotel to everybody who want's to enjoy a relaxing holiday by the sea! Thank you again, Hristo! :D

Review 24:George and his family are the friendliest, most helpful people youll ever meet. Anything you need, he will get you. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Location is great, right on the beach but slightly off so you dont get all the noise and hustle. In short, a perfect stay and great value for money.

Review 25:The hotel is amazing but the location of the Kala Nera village (yes, village) and the peninsula are very hard to travel by car. Be sure you have a strong car and an updated GPS with you (also stick to main roads). We had a few adventures where all the power from our 4x4 car was needed not to get stuck on some narrow road. All in all. the sad part was that we only stayed 7 days!

Review 26:The owner of the hotel is very welcoming and willing to help you anytime you need. I was surprised to see that the hotel has bicycles, umbrellas, towels and other useful stuff and you can use them for free. Also the locations recommended by the staff are very good and it was a pleasure to visit them. We visited 2 beaches on the west side of the peninsula (Kala Nera is on the east coast) and both were amazing. If you like peace and quiet, and not the agitated tourists in other Greece locations, then I strongly recommend Kala Nera and the best hotel in the village (Agelis). Also, the owner will recommend you to rent a boat (maybe?). If you like boats with sails, then I strongly recommend the voyage. Those 8 hours spent on the sea, were the greatest hours we had in Greece.

Review 44:The quality of service far exceeded the expectations of experiencedworld travellers - eager smiling professional staff, satisfyingbreakfast, elegantly decorated rooms, fast wifi, ideally located forshort or long trips to the greater area of wonderful Pelion. Can'tbeat the value for money offered - Highly recommended

Review 45:Friendly owners, small but very clean room with sea view and small balcony, great location - close to the sea and tavernas, but very quiet area. We will come again.

Review 46:Exclellent service, very friendly personnel, small family hotel that stands out. Fantstic breakfast, clean rooms, near the beach. A fine example of what "philoxenia" -hospitality, is really about.

Review 47:- our room was a tiny bit smaller than expected but fully functional all the same.

Review 48:- Rooms have been recentrly refurbished and are of outstanding quality - Giorgos (the owners son) and Christos (the owner) are extremely helpful, friendly and will make you feel at home from the first moment - Excellent 'English' or greek/classic breakfast served at the table and a little sweet 'surprise' every morning, nice! - air conditioning very efficient - The hotel is at a perfect location for walking to town, going for a swim, or taking the car to go for a ride in the mountains - There are walking paths starting 100 meters from the hotel

Review 49:Very friendly staff. Situated in a quiet street in a nice area, but only a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Breakfastmenue on your own request.

Review 50:The room is small for 3 people

Review 51:The owners are very kind and helpful and make you feel at home! Reach breakfast Very close to beach and to restaurant and shops area

Review 52:The curtain in the room, is totally see-through. Wi fi was a low (1 bar)failing connection.... We've had better in current and previousvillas. The other staff at this family hotel tried to "sell"kala nera by insisting other places weren't as nice and we wouldntthem, no cash points etc yet we have found in taragada there is all ofthat and more. The positives out weighed negatives however and the hotelitself is beautiful and faultless.

Review 53:The owner, he was welcoming. Very clean room, good shower, comfortablebed. Local dining "Paris" was the best. Good breakfast andwelcome drink at hotel. Location is fantastic, can't get better!Kala nera, for a relaxing beach holiday and selection of good diningwith clear waters is fab. Tsagarada however has proved to be amazing, for the adventure we were looking for. Our 2 week honeymoon travellingpelion is a real adventure.

Review 54:Nothing

Review 55:Everything, especially the host and his father. We had been thevictim of double booking and could not stay the first night of ourplanned stay and George did all he could to make up for this with awonderful welcome.

Review 56:WiFi not available in the room, signal is too low.(-99) Seaview = from the side, if you're lucky. Otherwise it's the garden. (with trash and wasps) Preference for smoking wasn't honored this time.

Review 57:Cheap Great breakfast Nice owner Near the beach

Review 58:The owner Christo and his son couldn't be more kind than this. The hotel is very clean and close to the seaside promenade.
