Reviews for Wavecrest

Review 1:We were staying in the family room which was a great layout for a family the only thing the bathroom was a little on the small side but very clean and functional.

Review 2:Owner very accommodating about our arrival and departure time. Had planned a continental breakfast due to our early departure but when it was delayed gave us a cooked breakfast.

Review 3:Nothing really considering the very reasonable price.

Review 4:Lovely traditional B&B, with lots of nice pictures, and railway memorabilia on the walls. We had a double which was two large singles put together to make a huge double bed. Don't know where they get such large sheets, but it was still really comfortable. Excellent breakfast.

Review 5:Shower was in the room itself (could be a drawback for some, since our room could sleep 4). This place is a couple of blocks out from the commercial part of town.

Review 6:Excellent staff and breakfast. Room met our needs (place to overnight after a late ferry).

Review 7:Breakfast catered for us early to suit our travel agreements lady working g there waited up for is as we were late getting there and was very helpful

Review 8:Convenient location

Review 9:This is a sensible, practical destination.

Review 10:Friendly and accommodating. Managed our late arrival and early departure without fuss. Karl was attentive and offered onward travel advice. Took time to check train times. Made our onward journey much easier.

Review 11:Holyhead is a wonderful small town steeped in history. This B&B is a short 10 min walk from the ferry/railway station. Very nice staff and comfortable room.

Review 12:Tiny room and tinier bathroom. Shower about 24"x24" last updated perhaps In the 80's (being kind). Bed was very comfortable. Had the double twin room and there was no room to leave a suitcase open anywhere on the floor. had to put them on the bed to get into them and into the little hall In front of the entry door at night.

Review 13:Very friendly and helpful host.

Review 14:Ensuite was a joke, cubby hole for toilet, shower inside main door, with bunk beds right next to it??? Other shower toilet across the hall, much more comfortable

Review 15:En suite, not very clean., booked in for return stay, but were sent to a different B and B. Reason given was vague. We were told by next B and B that it's a regular occurrence with this particular owner.

Review 16:Friendly staff, good breakfast.

Review 17:No hot breakfast before 7.30am although i had stated i wanted a cooked breakfast and that i would be leaving at 6.30am when booking online.

Review 18:Convenient location for my needs.

Review 19:Run down and desperately in need of renovations. Very 50s!. Everything on a tight budget, no cooked breakfast if you had an early departure (we left at 7am).

Review 20:good location for ferry. Friendly proprietor.

Review 21:Breakfast area was a bit cramped but not much you can do with that. If you have a big suitcase, all rooms are accessed by stairs lined with pictures that gets a bit precarious, I was worried about damaging one and trying to balance my ascent at the same time.

Review 22:The location was only 2 miles from the ferry port so was a welcome relief for weary travellers. Carl was very accommodating and gave us some good info on local food and drink places. The room was a good size for a baby and had a nice view of the back area. Breakfast was yum and was provided with baby seat.

Review 23:We were made very welcome and enjoyed a very good breakfast. Room facilities completely adequate with well laid on tea, coffee, biscuits and complimentary bathroom stuff. Local knowledge and info about ferries all highly appreciated.

Review 24:It advertises that all ferry bookings are accommodated, but then you find that a full breakfast is only available from 8:30am, so they need to point that out very clearly as it is misleading and £70 is very expensive for what is a fairly mediocre B+B and then only a bacon sandwich for breakfast!

Review 25:Location is great for the ferry - just 2 minutes away and the wifi is very good

Review 26:I loved the location of the bed and breakfast. It was in walking distance to everything, including the ferry service to Dublin. The owners of the establishment were wonderful. Even though I had a single room, they tried to get me a bigger room, but the room that I had was just fine. It was very thoughtful form them to try to upgrade me.

Review 27:Every thing was kept nice and clean, the breakfast was lovely. We had a family room so was nice having the ensuite. You get what you pay for, if you want a cheap night stay in a friendly comfortable place then you've got it.

Review 28:mattresses on beds could be more comfortable...mattresses could provide a little more support by replacing the old one.

Review 29:location was couple blocks from the water....great location, quiet, breakfast was awesome, staff was very helpful, wifi worked great!

Review 30:further from ferry terminal than expected from description. uphill and long walk for 88 year old mom.

Review 31:close to bay. scenic. bistro close and had excellent fish and chips. helped with baggage as stairs were steep to family room. good breakfast.

Review 32:The Family Room is all the way on top, and even tho it can be packed with a big family it is a very small room. To fit the en suit into this small room you have to accept the lack of space.

Review 33:the owner was friendly and helpful, the staff was very nice. Cooked Breakfast was freshly cooked and good. We were offered to use another bathroom a few steps down.

Review 34:The on-suite was very small. you coudn't turn around without bumping something,a smaller wash hand basin would help. The cooked breakfast looked very good but if you only wanted cereal it was very plain. No choice of fruit or yoghurt or honey.

Review 35:Friendly people and a comfortable bed.

Review 36:Would only take cash. Card machine 'apparently' out of order but I know it was out of order for over 2 weeks as we stayed twice in that period. Excuse questionable! Streets covered in chewing gum and quite repulsive.

Review 37:It was close to good restaurants on the harbour and within walking distance of the Ferry terminal

Review 38:Access to family room was in the 3rd level was a bit of an issue when lot of baggages.

Review 39:Friendly staff, excellent location and timely breakfast. Staff assisted to move baggages to to upstairs and showed us good restaurants in the town.

Review 40:Very rough and ready.would not have stayed there if I had somewhere else to stay.i think I was sleeping in the previous persons sheets.

Review 41:Out of the rain for the night

Review 42:Pre-cooked breakfast - with no option/choices offered. No fresh coffee (served granulated). Staff feeding seagulls at the back (where our room was). Other guests being offered to use our bathroom, upon arrival.Bathroom had no heating available. Shower was inadequate-tepid water, low pressure and had to crouch under the shower head (I'm only 5"10). Poor electrics behind headboard switched lighting off, when you moved position in bed. Leaking gutter directly outside front entrance, onto tiled entrance- slip hazard!

Review 43:Quite/warm room.

Review 44:Breakfast lacked flavour. Plastic cloths covered in stains. Would only take cash payment.

Review 45:Bed was comfortable although room was cluttered with furniture.

Review 46:Karl ,who runs this b&b is so helpful he even booked and printed ferry tickets for us, he is a mine of info. breakfast was excellent. even got the key to the door!! clean and comfortable

Review 47:We only had one channel on the tv. I would have liked to have watched the news.

Review 48:We were served with a delicious breakfast. I liked the tea, coffee and biscuits n the room. The bed was very comfortble, there was plenty of room for all along with the bunkbeds.i

Review 49:We'd booked an en-suite room for 3 as we wanted to stay in the same room, instead had to stay in two separate rooms, one of which was not an en-suite. On top of that the beds were extremely uncomfortable with springs sticking in your back, the one toilet was tiny and the shower stall was in the middle of a carpeted room. Everything was old and worn down at best and downright dirty at worst.

Review 50:The location was perfect for the ferry from and the keys were easily found (we arrived after midnight), staff was very friendly in the morning and breakfast was basic but okay.

Review 51:Room was comfortable but very small. Shower door kept coming off the runner.

Review 52:The breakfast was very well presented, very tasty but items on the breakfast were not very hot. Only one person serving and there were 6 people waiting for breakfast.

Review 53:Small house , steep stairs , local street lacking attractiveness. But clean and safe. Parking could be tight as need to park on street where possible

Review 54:Homely ,friendly, Great Breakfast, Comfortable,, local Boathouse Hotel, excellent for food recommended by Wave crest. Local area very nice, no shops but we were not there for shops. we were enroute home from Ireland. Would recommend to friends in Similar circumstances

Review 55:As I said, Holyhead is just a sleepy little town and if I had it to do over again, I would have just passed through on my way to Llandudno where I spent the next two nights.

Review 56:I believe the proprietor's name was Carl(?). He was very welcoming. Showed me right in and got me squared away. My room was comfortable. It was located up the hill from a great fish and chips place. A shared bathroom with a great shower; that was fine and a full breakfast in the morning included. Holyhead is just a little stop-over town where the ferry lands. Not much to it but, the Wavecrest was a nice little place to stay. Very comfortable.

Review 57:Everything was great.

Review 58:I needed to find out the location of an antique fair which I planned to visit on the following day. The lady who greeted me very kindly rang the owner, who was away. He rang back having looked up the fair on the Internet. All very kindly and helpful.

Review 59:nice staff turned up 4hours before check in and they had our room done up in a hour great when you have kids lovely breakfast and on street free parking outside door

Review 60:Staff are very friendly, owner was very helpful. Location good for moving around and visiting elsewhere. Ideal as a base. Comfy and everything you need. Good value for money. Will return in the future.

Review 61:Not being able to stay longer!

Review 62:Very warm and friendly staff. Manager offered excellent information about local places to dine and hand written directions about our drive through Snowdonia to our next port of call. Would love to stay again. Thank you

Review 63:Great host who went out of his way to show me the local scenery. Arranged advance tickets and saved me a fortune. Comfortable with quirky railroad signs.on display. Awesome breakfast.and nice walks close by to burn off the calories!.

Review 64:Welcome from the owner. Food excellent. Location. Information on the area from owner and in the room. Good value for money. Great fun for railway enthusiasts.

Review 65:The room was a hike up the stairs. The shower was in the room, the accommodations were old and not well maintained.

Review 66:The proprietor and staff were very enthusiastic, and friendly, the price was still high for what we received. .

Review 67:Holyhead is mean about displaying street names, so the directions were hard to follow. (There was a map, but my printer was not working.)

Review 68:The name Wavecrest is fitting, because in a row of B&Bs, this one is on the crest of a hill.

Review 69:Tiny bedroom. Couldn't plug in light over bed, as no room to insert plug. Lots of prints on walls hanging crooked! Creaky bedroom door.

Review 70:Good location. Friendly staff. Excellent cooked breakfast.

Review 71:The room was compact but very comfortable.... Karl was a very good host.... He was out to the taxi in the pouring rain to help us with our luggage .... Also recommended very good restaurant for dinner....

Review 72:Shower was cramped and old and tired Not enough power points

Review 73:Friendly helpful proprietor Handy to town, beach Good breakfast Allowed to use dining room for takeaways

Review 74:Accommodation dated but comfortable. Family room was very warm as on the top floor so quality of sleep was not great. On street parking only. If you want the cooked breakfast then it is only available from 8.30am which we considered to be very late. Owner was friendly but adamant on timing.

Review 75:Good location for the ferry. Good value.

Review 76:The accommodation was small, very basic furniture and the shower was minute. never mind the fact that it looks like an afterthought. The rest of the property was untidy and made us doubt the actual cleanliness of the place.

Review 77:The position was good, close to the harbour and a few restaurants. The host was very friendly.

Review 78:The space round the bed was extremely cramped. We only took in a one night bag so we managed but there wouldn't have been space for anything else.

Review 79:The location was excellent for catching the ferry. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast very enjoyable.

Review 80:Our host drove us to a place we could start our hiking, and guided us part of the way. We had a lovely 2 hour walk in the breathtaking scenery of Wales. The guesthouse was located near a lovely restaurant, and the coastline was a minute away:)

Review 81:Very nice and friendly host, getting up so early to make me a breakfast so that I could catch the first ferry. Really feeling at home. Just next door to the sea!

Review 82:The town. There was absolutely nothing to do there. We stayed one night so we could take the ferry to Dublin in the morning.

Review 83:Breakfast and having a bed all to myself.

Review 84:The only negative was the en suite toilet was tiny, but it was clean and usable. Additional space would have come from the living space.

Review 85:We had the family suite on the top floor - nice view over town and to ocean! Owner very friendly. Suggested hike along ocean and over "mountain" to light house. Gorgeous! Breakfast was good. One son plays American football (6'1", very broad, eats like a horse), was quite satisfied with breakfast. Would stay here again without question.

Review 86:Nothing at all

Review 87:Rooms were not overly sized but a room to me is basically to sleep in and make a base. Rooms were furnished nicely, bright and certainly very clean. So handy for Ferry departures. Breakfasts were very good and plentiful.
