The Boot Inn descritpion

This former coaching inn dates back to 1649, and offers free Wi-Fi and à la carte dining. It is situated in the historic village of Repton, an area that was once the capital of the Saxon kingdom of Mercia.
The Boot Inn retains some traditional features, including oak beams, old fireplaces, and sash windows. Before becoming a hotel, it was first a brewery, and has also been a bakery and a boot-making site.
Rooms at The Boot Inn are simply furnished, with a TV and facilities for making tea and coffee. Some have their own bathrooms, while others have shared bathroom facilities.
You can enjoy traditional and modern dishes in the restaurant, and a tapas menu is also available. Each morning, a full cooked breakfast is provided. Outdoor seating is available in the garden and courtyard.
Alton Towers is a 35-minute drive from the building, while Derby can be reached in under 20 minutes. Nottingham is a 40-minute drive away.

Reviews for The Boot Inn

Review 1:Breakfast ,Didn't like my toast being buttered for me ,no jam ,honey offered had to ask ,didn't get offered a top up of coffee ,would have been better to have a pot .room ,water not hot .

Review 2:Good location for our trip .

Review 3:Our room was directly over the bar and because of the time of year extremely noisey until closing time

Review 4:Arrived and found limited parking but managed to squeeze in. Lovely room and ensuite shower. Great food and friendly staff

Review 5:Breakfast was very slow, the cooked full English my husband had looked lovely when it did arrive, but the buffet , juices are very poor.

Review 6:Lovely homely rooms,

Review 7:Great facilities, very comfy bed and delicious food. I was staying here for a wedding in Repton so it was in a perfect location both for the wedding and for exploring the village.

Review 8:Staff were not expecting us so no room was prepared, even though we had booked a week before. No towels, had to go and ask for towels and the shower mat to be changed. Bathroom dirty and no flooring. Shower clogged with hair and inconsistent water temperature. Live band in the bar and was so loud we considered leaving at about 12 to go and sleep in the car. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Review 9:Room lack of heat, broken tv broken shower. No towels only 1 cup in room..excessive noise from bar. No one in morning to complain too, couldnt get into main buildinh to see about breakfast. General lack of service

Review 10:Nothing..will not be staying again.

Review 11:The food the beer and the staff

Review 12:Breakfast was extra staff were very busy at breakfast felt ignored on checkout

Review 13:Room was fabulous bed comfortable.

Review 14:Parking could be better

Review 15:Good comfy bed and up to date designed rooms

Review 16:Very friendly atmosphere.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Fabulous accommodation and top class food

Review 19:The children's bed could be better

Review 20:The overall look of the hotel inside and out.

Review 21:We booked as bed and breakfast and no food was being served. Would have been nice to have been told as had to go into Burton on Trent to eat in the evening and for breakfast.

Review 22:Richard and Tim are working hard and will be nice when finished.

Review 23:The room was so dirty we went out and baught cleaning products to clean it, the shower was disgracefully dirty so we bought a new shower head and hose. The bar was not open and the wifi did not work at all. The carpets, bed and windows where all dirty. There was very little toilet role and no extra rolls. The wardrobe fell on my partner as it was not level. No offer of refund was made by the management even though we made it clear that we had sprang extra money and time cleaning and replacing the shower head and hose. Out of respect we did not mention how disgusted we was with the cleanliness of our room.

Review 24:The hotel owner was polite.

Review 25:1) The pub/B&B was closed for refurbishment. The owners were friendly enough but didn't seem to know that I had booked a room.2) the room was dusty, no toilet roll or floor covering in the shower room. 3) if i'd have been travelling with my wife i would have left and got my money back. luckily for them i was with a work colleague and we just needed a couple of beds for the night. 4) the money came out of my account 3 days after booking on your website (it states that money will not be taken out until you get to the hotel!!)

Review 26:The pub was shut when we got there and we had to bang on windows to get in. Not expecting us. Whole place stank of paint. Beds not fully made, no towels. Went down for breakfast in the morning and the whole place was literally deserted - gave it up as a bad job and went to a cafe. Will write to try and get our breakfast money back.

Review 27:It's in a beautiful village. That's about it.

Review 28:Poor hotel Was not ready to take guests as it was being refitted Very poor experience will not return as it was not up to standard

Review 29:Poor hotel Nothing to recommend

Review 30:The room was shabby, filled with three double beds that had old musty bedding, the towels were paper thin and old. The TV worked only on channel 4 and the promised wifi was only available in the pub downstairs. The bathroom had no working lights and was across a landing so after 8pm it would have been impossible to use. There was no toilet roll. The evening menu was mostly off. I stayed for a whole hour before deciding that I could not spend a night there.

Review 31:Location, its the only place actually in Repton

Review 32:There was no lightbulb in one of the lamps, the light in the bathroom didn't work, none of the linen matched none of the towels matched. The decoration was tatty. The TV was not the best it worked but was obviously on it's last legs as any action that took place at the edges of the screen lost all colour apart from green.

Review 33:It was reasonably clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. It's one of the biggest family rooms we have stopped in with 3 doble beds and for £54 for three adults for a night just for somewhere to sleep it was OK and it was not as bad as I was led to believe by some of the other reviews.

Review 34:Rooms in need of repair, wifi poor, only one channel working on the tv & card machine didn't work when trying to pay for my stay...I won't be back

Review 35:Cheap

Review 36:The room wasn't clean, and it was full of insects. I actually got bitten 4 times. The towels were old and we weren't supplied with hand towels. The furniture in the room was old and falling to pieces. It was overpriced for what it was.

Review 37:Breakfast was average. Room was actually quite quiet considering proximity to the bar so we did sleep well. However we found it weird that we stayed on a weekend and didn't see anyone in the bar the whole time! I think everyone in Repton heads to the Bull as the bar is far nicer there.

Review 38:The whole ambience of the hotel was unclean. Floors had not be cleaned from previous night. Breakfast was served on an adhoc basis. There was no cereal, nor marmalade with toast. There was only one towel between 2 people for 3 nights. We did obtain another towel, but that was dirty and could not be used. The owner was not available to complain.Whoever owns the Hotel appeared to have couldn't careless attitude

Review 39:The staff tried to be helpful. The rooms were just about adequate

Review 40:Not to the standard I would expect. Very dusty No tea / coffee in room One very old towel for double room Only one small pillow each Some communication difficulties

Review 41:Location to our function comfy bed Helpful in returning a treasured child's blanket left behind

Review 42:Did not advertise it was a shared bathroom Breakfast said 4.95 but it was a menu all priced seperate and half of the things they did not have

Review 43:Spacious rooms

Review 44:Dirty, dusty and not very pleasant. Check in at 17:00, but roomwasn't even ready, left in bar for over an hour. Wouldn't wantto eat here based on the cleanliness of the environment in general.

Review 45:Comfy bed is the only positive comment to make

Review 46:The room we stayed in was ok but need freshing up as looking very tired.I ordered breakfast for 8 oclock, when we went down for it at 8-10 allthe down stairs was lovked up. Waited 5mins, then left. We had to getfood at Donington race track which cost a fortune.

Review 47:The boot in is in a beautiful area. Close to Donington Park were we werehelping at a rsce meeting.

Review 48:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 49:We liked it all, down to the uneven floors, which just added to the character. Richard the owner was so lovely and an interesting guy to talk to. Going back soon.

Review 50:I find it difficult to believe this accommodation is available through your website. I have used the site often and trust that everything on offer would at least be of a acceptable standard. This was awful - paint fell on my head in the shower - the shower room had no floor covering just a concrete floor - bed and bedding so poor I would not let a guest in my house sleep in it - tv impossible to watch - when I arrived downstairs for my booked breakfast nobody around - after calling out for 15 minutes a very dishevelled looking man emerged to serve me but the kitchen had no sausages - my request for grilled tomatoes to be included consisted of one tinned tomato. I would think twice before using your website again.

Review 51:location was convenient.

Review 52:hotel very dated, in need of refurbishment. adequate for men only, wouldn't take the wife.

Review 53:comfy rooms location for us spot on right price adequate breakfast staff friendly

Review 54:No towels upon arrival, reception had already left when we discovered this so no towels/shower until next day. Have to point out that we arrived late (9.30 PM). Also no bin in the room. Slightly unhappy about door locking system with code (instead of key).

Review 55:Large room, excellent breakfast

Review 56:Bar closed early and wasn't offered a drink when we arrived before it closed. Macerator toilet, therefore very noisy in the bedroom when this was in operation in the ensuite. Toilet bowl needed cleaning. No hand towels. Fan in bathroom stayed on for too long and was noisy when trying to get to sleep. No biscuits available for with 'tea tray' provided.

Review 57:Breakfast.

Review 58:There were problems with the showever pressure. My TV didnt work. No tea and coffee in my room. Little things that matter.

Review 59:The staff are very friendly and supportive. The breakfast was very good and worth it.

Review 60:The room was sparsely furnished with unironed and mismatching linen, mirrors that only a ten foot tall person could see into and pillows thatwere maybe an inch thick. There was no heating in the bathrooms and nosoap for the shower. No mirror in the bathroom - only usable mirror wasin the toilet. The tv didn't work, room wasn't serviced and thelights did not work on the second night and there was no one availableto fix them. The bar tender did not know where the fuse box was andcould not help. This hotel did not match the description on the websiteand we would not stay there again. We didn't even dare try the food!

Review 61:The location

Review 62:The rooms were very quirky but not the cleanest, we refused to use theshower as it was so dirty, its a lovely old building but could do with agood cleaner and some new beds, despite this we had a good time there.

Review 63:The staff were very helpful, and the breakfast was very good.

Review 64:Room was slightly shabby- mismatched bed linen, extremely old towels, patchwork carpet.

Review 65:The staff were very friendly. Good value for money, the cooked breakfast was one of the best I've ever had.

Review 66:Had to fix the flush on wc. Had to turn mattress and cover with blanketto hide sharp springs. Having been asked what time I wanted breakfast, staff arrived late so I didn't get time to eat it. Cooking skillsleft a lot to be desired - who can't cook a fry-up!? Won't begoing back, or recommending, sorry.

Review 67:Not much really. I was on a very tight budget, so that's all Icould afford.

Review 68:what a fantastic place. the moment I walked in to the Inn, the feeling was one of warmth and immediate comfort. The décor and lay out of the bar and restaurant area is fantastic. Sofas comfortable chairs, big fires and the quirky, shabby chic design was just fantastic. All I wanted to do was take my bag up to my room and come back down and sit in this lovely room. The food was really good and very good value for money and the service from Richard the owner was attentive and perfect. The room was comfortable and all things worked. Richard has said that now the bar and restaurant are right, he will start redecoration on the rooms. To me it doesn't matter. The room is for sleeping and the most important thing was the fantastic ambiance and comfort downstairs. I was travelling with my 15 year old daughter and she loved it too. Free wifi helped her to pass the time. Great place to stay in a lovely village, close to beautiful countryside and well worth a visit.

Review 69:The staff are fantastic. The food was really good and excellent value for money. Great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Would go back again

Review 70:The manager Tim was very amiable, friendly and accomodating. Room was fine, spacious and good value for money.

Review 71:paid for breakfast and no one there also no one around when checking out

Review 72:Everything

Review 73:very friendly and helpful staff

Review 74:Rooms need modernising. Bathroom bulb didn't work so used another rooms bathroom.

Review 75:Good price. comfy bed. contractors digs.

Review 76:Never seen such a run down disorganised filthy place ever!

Review 77:Absolutely nothing!

Review 78:check in at 5 pm no flooring in bathroom noise from pub

Review 79:location and the price

Review 80:Bar very quiet; rooms not made up during stay; no hot water for last two days

Review 81:History of the area

Review 82:the boot inn was not to our standards we will not stay there again

Review 83:everything, badly run establishment with no runimg hot or cold water in bathroom, only a matter o time becore the place closes down

Review 84:nothing
