Reviews for Hotel Privilège

Review 1:Breakfast could have been better but it worked out okay.

Review 2:Hotel was easy to get to; staff was friendly and helpful and the the restaurant for an evening meal was amazing.

Review 3:The carpets on the hall and staircase were stained and looked uncared for and gave the wrong impression. The desk in the bedroom neeeded a new coat of paint the rest was very clean

Review 4:The restaurant was superb and the service there was excellent good value

Review 5:someone had been smoking in the room

Review 6:manager friendly gave us an extra room free of charge as the three of us would have been cramped in the booked room.. nice touch.. good assistance with local war sites

Review 7:I called the number as directed to acquire an access code for a noon check in time...after several attempts I finally talked with a human being that I did not need an access code for a noon check in time that someone would be at the desk until 9pm. No one was there until 5 pm, extremely inconvenient.

Review 8:There is a pastry shop within a few minute walk from the hotel that served excellent pastries, coffee, sandwiches etc. the building looks like a windmill from Holland.

Review 9:This is a very good 2 star hotel with a 4 star restaurant at very reasonable prices and large portions. Good location for the daily battlefield walking and staff put up with our poor French with good humour.

Review 10:I wouldn't have wanted to stay long in the rather pokey, cell-like bedroom - but it was fine for a brief overnight stay.

Review 11:Reception staff friendly; convenient stopover for autoroute between Strasbourg and Calais.

Review 12:The proprietor was helpful, showing us where we should go for battlefield sites The restaurant was friendly, reasonably priced and tasty (lots of things made with mirabelles, the local plum) The location was on the edge of town, easy to get to where we wanted to go

Review 13:Rude, rude, rude front desk clerk. Rooms are not as advertised, no wifi, no 24 hour staff, room key did not open front door, at 10PM we only got in because a party on the 3rd floor had the window open. Unfortunately we also did not get sleep because the party on the 3rd floor.

Review 14:It is in a great city with a lot of interesting historical sites. Hotel Privilege may have been something in its day, but that day was a long time ago. They lost our reservation and told us to go away. When we showed them the confirmation, magically a room in the sub basement opened up. Unfortunately it was not the one we booked.

Review 15:Location not central but not too far away from city centre. Only one waiter for all the tables in restaurant (although very efficient).

Review 16:Friendliness of staff. Good value for money. Very simple but clean. Restaurant in hotel. Good in house parking.

Review 17:Photo misleading as it's on a busy noisy road. Small room, grubby bathroom tiles, appalling traffic noise at the front, no WiFi in room, guests from a coach party took priority in the restaurant

Review 18:Convenient to motorway, easy parking, nice views from the back, good restaurant, friendly staff. Clean bed linen

Review 19:It badly needs a refresh. It is a basic hotel but OK if just staying for 1 night. Only French TV channels. Small room, no chairs, no tea/coffee making facility. A bit outside the town (about 2k, a 30 minute easy walk).

Review 20:It was clean, plenty of free parking and WIFI was free. Good access from motorway.

Review 21:Room very small. Suitable for sleeping only. Some staff had no English at all. Have not found that anywhere else in France

Review 22:Close to Verdon. It has free parking on site.

Review 23:Basic and nice hotel with delightful restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is important to note that the hotel is located in Haudainville, a locality of Verdun. This is not reported in the address and could cause some problems in finding it. Anyway, it is in a good position for visiting Verdun and the nearby area.

Review 24:Breakfas not worth 8 euros. It is very simple. A few baguettes you slice off your self, a small plate of ham, cheese. A small selection of yogurt. There's was a lack of plates and cups. We had to use the trays and napkins to put our bread on. Luckily there's a bakery in the thr main square of the city with a yummy selection of pastries.

Review 25:This hotel is close to the main square of the city of verdun and touristic locations such as the bunkers. It a simple room good for the price. In the town if Verdun there is a nice bakery which I recommend for breakfast as the one at the hotel is not worth it.

Review 26:Next to the hotel is parking for lots of lorries so it was noisy late into the evening and especially so early in the morning when they all started their engines to set off.

Review 27:Room was OK, breakfast was fine and hotel was a short drive from Verdun. We had our evening meal at a pizza place nearby.

Review 28:They had no record of our booking for a quadruple room, but cheerfully gave us two doubles for the same price. The hotel was shabby and smelt a bit of cigarette smoke, but what do you expect for the price?

Review 29:Restaurant was good, and the gentleman running the hotel was very friendly cheerful and hardworking. Lots of parking round the back, and easy to find on the main road from the Autoroute into Verdun

Review 30:Rooms were spartan (Travelodge style). Bathroom had seen better days but was clean. Breakfast was poor (and a bit expensive for what it was) and disappointing after a decent dinner the night before. Main desk staff not very friendly.

Review 31:Clean rooms. Dinner was pretty good, but too much! Restaurant staff were friendly.

Review 32:I was not given the room that I requested. The room I was given, which I suspect was like the rest of the rooms, was small, dark, sparse and in very poor condition with no amenities. It did appear to be relatively clean.

Review 33:Inexpensive and located off a main road. The food was good and the staff, while they did not speak English, were friendly.

Review 34:Room very small. Chose to eat at hotel restaurant due to good reviews but very disappointed. Burnt toast with starters. Cremated chips with main were hollowed out and more like crisps. Steak unevenly cooked. Tasteless tinned vegetables.

Review 35:Low room price. Ample parking.

Review 36:Room was a little shabby

Review 37:Food was excellent, although by the time we had breakfast the buffet had a limited selection left. However, we were at the end of the allotted time

Review 38:Our room in the basement was small but otherwise ok.

Review 39:Good to be able to have dinner which was excellent and despite it being a very busy eveing our waiter managed the restaurant efficiently.

Review 40:If you are given a room and have to go "down stairs" make sure you open the window in the room as soon as possible. The smell down there is not pleasent

Review 41:Evening meal

Review 42:Hotel was in need of some refurbishment, but I would certainly stay here again.

Review 43:Good location. Hotel was ok for an overnight stay. Plenty of safe parking. Value for money.

Review 44:Not a bad experience but you get what you pay for

Review 45:The location and value for the money

Review 46:The comfort of the room and the floor

Review 47:The staff and the breakfast

Review 48:Difficult location to find

Review 49:Staff very friendly and helpful. At the restaurant very good food

Review 50:check restaurant open, as typical french not open sundays, mondays

Review 51:N.A

Review 52:Quality of service, facilities and food. Friendliness of staff. Position of Hotel and ease in location..

Review 53:Room old and dirty!

Review 54:No problem with arriving late as a result of travel problems. Very helpful staff

Review 55:We were offered two double rooms for the same price as the one family room we'd originally booked.

Review 56:Nothing to dislike

Review 57:Location very good, and the dinner amazing, great choice and quality.

Review 58:unwilling to change a Euro 50.-- note for motorway fees

Review 59:parking

Review 60:bathroom cleanliness.

Review 61:loved the food. staff very attentive.

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:Foo very reasonably priced at current exchange rate.

Review 64:WiFi was weak.

Review 65:We just needed a decent place to stay overnight and the room was perfect. Restaurant was good and staff was friendly.

Review 66:Location, friendliness and considerations.

Review 67:Unfriendly welcome Front facing room, busy road Very small window Bathroom very much in need of renovation Cramped room

Review 68:Convenience

Review 69:Room near reception noisey

Review 70:Food excellent value

Review 71:Very Spartan furnishings, bathroom had seen better days, breakfast very disappointing

Review 72:Restaurant, clean room, some of staff

Review 73:Breakfast was excellent. Dinner menu limited. but ok.

Review 74:Comfortable , clean and friendly. Would go back

Review 75:Weather!!

Review 76:Restaurant was excellent. And location.

Review 77:broken wifi

Review 78:Good food and friendly staff

Review 79:everything!

Review 80:The whole experience, vibes were just perfect and we would certainly like to go back for a longer stay

Review 81:A little old and dated. However at 2 Stars we weren't expecting a lot. I would stay again in the future.

Review 82:Restaurant had excellent dinners. Breakfasts were adequate. Had reserved room for 3 one night and room for 4 the other (only rooms available for the two of us). We were only charged double rate! I don't drink coffee and they didn't charge me for cola light with my breakfast like many places do.

Review 83:The bedrooms and and bathrooms need a makeover.

Review 84:Hard working and friendly staff. Despite being a bit tired, the staff kept the place clean and the waiter at mealtimes was friendly.

Review 85:Room in the basement although adequate for 1 night was very small. The basement was very untidy with trolleys and other things just left at the bottom of the stairs. Some automatic lighting in the corridor would have been useful.

Review 86:The food. Dinner was better than breakfast

Review 87:rooms very basic, no hair dryer, and grout in shower a bit nasty - also carpet on stairs very stained - there is a sign saying the carpets are wet from being cleaned, but they are still very stained.

Review 88:shower was good, and dinner was excellent. Location not close to town, but good for touring surrounding area, since you could avoid the inner town traffic

Review 89:Poor decoration in room, poor heating facilities, tried to charge again for the room although pre-paid and then charged us for coffee on the set menue when included.

Review 90:restaurant & food

Review 91:Poor lighting at the rear of the hotel having arrived late - not easy tounload in the dark and have to walk some distance to the access pointfor our room.

Review 92:The location was perfect on homeward route from Italy to Calais and -easy to find. Room (triple) was of a generous size which easilyaccommodated us and our two large dogs!

Review 93:Could have had more selection for breakfast ie some cheese and ham as other French hotels have

Review 94:Pleasant friendly staff, if you do your best to speak French they meet you half way if there are problems. Clean rooms, good breakfast and easy to find location.

Review 95:At this price a/c was not to be expected but no fans were available either which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep in the hot weather.

Review 96:Location, staff and restaurant

Review 97:First impression was that the hotel had seen better days but in hindsight room was very clean.

Review 98:Friendly staff and excellent evening meal in the restaurant. Free WiFi. Good base for visit to Verdun battlefields

Review 99:Room small, though not unusually so for this category in France headwaiter unfriendly

Review 100:Location, view, garden & large car parkfriendly reception

Review 101:The rooms were very small and the beds uncomfortable. The Resturant was closed (not notified on Web Site) on Sun evening. The web site says 1km from Verdun it is nearer 4 to the centre where we could find a resturant.

Review 102:Nearness to Motorway

Review 103:The ability to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room would have been a very welcomed addition to the room facilities.

Review 104:It was one of the coldest days that we have ever experienced in France, so the efficient electrical heater was the most important and only feature of this hotel.that concerned us on this visit.

Review 105:The address on your website was not correct and we had a hard time finding the hotel. Please correct this for future guests.

Review 106:No tea or coffee making in room

Review 107:Staff and food excellent

Review 108:The room was very basic
