Reviews for Hotel Saint Paul
Review 1:There don't appear to be any outstanding hotels in Verdun, but for a stopover on the way north, this was good. It was slightly shabby, and very dependent on one member of staff, who was excellent. It is very central and handy for most of the local restaurants, but don't expect many to be open on Sunday and Monday evening!
Review 2:The room is a bit dated BUT when one considers the cost it balances out.
Review 3:The location and the excellent low price. The breakfast was o.k. considering the price for a continental breakfast.
Review 4:All was good
Review 5:Centrally situated, within walking distance of everything. Most parking here has to be paid for, we were lucky enough to stay at the weekend when parking is free, so we parked right outside hotel for free. Staff were lovely and helpful.
Review 6:See above
Review 7:Only reason we stayed here was for the location. Nasty walls, gross bathroom. Afraid to touch the comforter. One flat pillow. 2 small rough towels. No phone in room or clock. 3 flights of stairs with luggage and no parking
Review 8:Wifi. The connection was shotty and the service provider would continuously cut out with advertisements.
Review 9:Location, staff and breakfast (if you include that option) are all great. Would stay there again!
Review 10:The walls where paper-thin, so if I knew french or Dutch I could easily have participated in the not so quiet conversations i the room next door at 3 am in the morning. The TV is a 14 inch set, with only french channels. The breakfast was only white bread and marmalade, 6 €/person was a bit pricey. Would not recommend for anyone with poor health, steps are quite steep and no elevator.
Review 11:The location was excellent for exploring the battlefields and Verdun, and the hotel was alright for a father and son battlefield trip.
Review 12:The wifi connection was not the strongest; I could not post photos on Facebook and sometimes could not send emails.
Review 13:The staff were helpful when we wanted to order a taxi. The breakfast croissants were great. The hotel is in a quiet area but also no more than a ten minute walk from the train station.
Review 14:Slightly run-down and not exactly stylish, but since we didn't bring our wives this was not a problem.
Review 15:Stayed with two friends on a battlefield tour. Friendly staff, good prices, walking distance from city center, free and easy parking at night.
Review 16:We needed to climb three stairs to get to our room, good exercise for us. We were outside season in Verdun and only very few bars and restaurants were open. Also the one in the hotel was closed.
Review 17:Good value for money and a good base for exploring WW1 sites in the neighbourhood. The hotel has no parking places, but there are some convenient ones in the front. The landlady is very friendly and the hotel has a cosey atmosphere of days gone by. Very clean, good value for money.
Review 18:Room was very basic with only a curtain separating the WC. The bed was a camp bed and everything felt a bit worn out and grubby.
Review 19:Good location for town centre.
Review 20:Nothing.
Review 21:Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable with a superb shower. Good central location. Free parking a short walk away.
Review 22:Booked two rooms. One room smelled like there was an open sewer outside the window. Had it changed which they werent happy about, even though the room right next to our teen's room was empty. One bedsheets in one of the twin beds in the new room had hair on them. checked the kids room and one of the beds had at least five strands of hair. Maybe they only change one bed from each room.
Review 23:Loation was convenient to shopping and restaurants. Street parking was easy.
Review 24:You get what you pay for, the location was good but the the hotel is very tired. The breakfast was cheap but wasn't a value for money.
Review 25:internet access needs registration. Rooms are not soundproof. You will hear people walk in the hall.
Review 26:location, friendly staff, price, hot shower
Review 27:Poor breakfast for 8 euros.
Review 28:Most of all we liked the location of Saint Paul and its staff.
Review 29:Very basic a bit run down no parking. However cheap weekend parking 2 mimutes walk away.
Review 30:Nice and central to the town good for WW 1 sites
Review 31:Room could do with redecoration but was very clean. A bedside table would be nice.
Review 32:Location of hotel and friendliness of the staff
Review 33:Poor breakfast
Review 34:VALUE, so cheap, but basic, you get what you pay for !
Review 35:Very friendly staff
Review 36:It was next door to an excellent restaurant. It was walking distance from the train station and from the downtown area.
Review 37:The only small negative point the TV didn't work
Review 38:An inexpensive hotel in a very good location with excellent, friendly and helpful staff
Review 39:poor sound isolation silly wifi construcion: obligatory watching a 30 sec ad each time you connect
Review 40:very friendly staff
Review 41:Charming old hotel in excellent condition. Ask for a lower level floor because there are no elevators.
Review 42:no complaints, nothing,
Review 43:Friendly, provided secure cycle storage, nice breakfast, value for money,
Review 44:good location, cheap and cheerful, good to meet people and friendly host (hostess)
Review 45:Fire door in the hallway snapped very loud; besides, other hotel guests were very loud in the hallway (wish there was a sign to remind other guests to be quiet in the hallway & not to talk all the way long to their room)
Review 46:Nice, old building; breakfast; close to city; parking space in front of hotel or close in city centre;
Review 47:Average coffee. Espresso would be nice. Lack of elevator didn't bother us; we were only one floor up. Higher and we would have struggled a bit--we're older.
Review 48:Hostess was personable, solicitous. Best croissants ever. Good location for walking to train station and quay.
Review 49:There were 3 of us staying at the hotel, and exactly 3 towels in the bathroom. I went to ask for an additional towel around 9:30pm and was told it was too late. Not a big deal, but I thought it was a rather lame excuse. The wi-fi was a hassle and we had to answer a lot of personal questions that made us hesitate.
Review 50:Convenient location, price was good, room comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fine - not extensive...cereal, croissant, coffee. Staff was pleasant and we had no problems, but I wouldn't say she would go out of her way if she didn't have to.
Review 51:wi-fi had to go through third party who wanted lots of personal details, i found this offensive.
Review 52:staff v good. value for money. rooms for the money were very good
Review 53:The owner is incredibly nice and extremely helpful. Her hospitality alone made up for any shortcomings of the hotel. The location is excellent for walking in Verdun and driving to the WWI battlefields and cemeteries.
Review 54:I read in many other reviews that the beds were hard, and decided that the reviewers may have just gotten a bad bed. Well, then the same can be said for me. My bed was not only hard, but also I could feel the springs. It was as if I were sleeping on a box spring base rather than a mattress. I should have just pulled everything down onto the floor and slept there.
Review 55:I came to Verdun to visit the WW1 battlefield sites. This hotel is located right downtown, in the historic part of the city, about 1-2 blocks from the river, and only a couple of blocks from the Monument to Victory. There are plenty of restaurants in a short walking distance.
Review 56:no lift, we were on the 3rd floor , other half is very lame and found the stairs A chore. The Hotel needs a lot of tlc, a bit jaded and sad looking.
Review 57:the staff were brilliant, breakfast ,enough for anyone, location magic just off the river front.
Review 58:Hotel is very 'tired'. Needs a lot of TLC to smarten it up
Review 59:Good location for town of Verdun. Close to all amenities. Ideal if you are visiting First World War sites.
Review 60:- Very small room, bathroom with curtain as a door but fits the price - Not the most comfortable mattress but again...
Review 61:- Very friendly staff - Location - Public parking
Review 62:Walking up three flights of stairs to my room.
Review 63:This was really good value. It was a personal service and a frienldy atmosphere in walking distance from the city centre for the price of a budget hotel usually found on a business park.
Review 64:This hotel is in a great location with easy parking nearby. The room was comfortable and quiet and the owner and staff were really friendly and helpful. A great bargain.
Review 65:Location,breakfast and friendly staff.
Review 66:Location in town, friendly staff. Value for money.
Review 67:Nice staff.
Review 68:Excellent service as was delayed en route but reception was open and they had also provided access code and room number by email.
Review 69:Good location near the river and good restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and sober rooms, but over all very OK.
Review 70:situation in the center oj the city
