Reviews for Les Orchidees

Review 1:Having booked a table for dinner we arrived to be told the kitchen was closed for the week so no dinner

Review 2:Madame was charming and arranged for her daughter to drive us downtown to a very mediocre restaurant and she came to collect us after dinner.

Review 3:We have stayed here twice and will continue to stay here during future trips. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the breakfast is great. Location is fantastic for visiting the battlefields and getting to the Verdun city center.

Review 4:Great location for american mil cemetery. The place has clearly had a refurb from the booking.com photos. The staff were very friendly and the food in the restaurant was very tasty. we will book again when we return. Great value stay as we booked hb.

Review 5:Nothing.

Review 6:The staff and food were great. The location brilliant for an overnight route stop and for exploring the military history of the area. Will definately stay again on route to and from Germany.

Review 7:Unfortunately we were put in one of the unrenovated rooms which barely had enough space for our modest amount of luggage.

Review 8:The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We really enjoyed our meal at the restaurant.

Review 9:Ideal location for visiting the battlefields and fortresses of Verdun. Welcoming friendly staff, plenty of parking and good wifi. Breakfast and evening meals good.

Review 10:Restaurant was really good and staff friendly and tolerant of our French. Location excellent for touring battlefields. Room quiet and clean although a bit cramped for a 3 star

Review 11:Room decor rather tired. Room had smell of cigarette smoke from previous occupants which rather spoilt our stay.

Review 12:Fair value close to several place of interest

Review 13:Motel-style accommodation, very small beds. Bathroom was budget pod-style.

Review 14:Hotel staff accommodated our late arrival and assisted me well even though I don't speak French.

Review 15:Bedrooms are basic but fine for overnight stay. Pool water a bit of a strange colour !

Review 16:Out of town but able to walk in....great food for evening meal on half board with lots of choice given....waiting staff very friendly. Also great buffet breakfast! Ideal base for visiting WW1 battle sites.

Review 17:Air conditioning and a lift would have made the hotel perfect but this does not seem to come with three stars.

Review 18:Excellent breakfast. Great location for visiting Verdun battlefield and general area by car. Really well appointed with swimming pool and children's play area.

Review 19:Bed was very comfortable, staff very helpful. When I came down to the restaurant, it was full, but it was no trouble for the staff to set me up to have a meal in the lounge area. The food was excellent.

Review 20:Stayed on a half board deal, evening meal was excellent. Staff were very friendly. We used as a stop off when driving to Southern Europe, Would definitely recommend.

Review 21:WiFi connection and log-in was a bit slow, Hot day with limited ventilation

Review 22:Friendly staff, Good restaurant, location out just out of town, quiet, scenic area, close to battlefield sites

Review 23:No bad experience. The breakfast was adequate even though there was a charge for it. It was convenient to eat at the hotel.

Review 24:Hotel was located perfectly for visiting the Verdun battle fields. The restaurant at the hotel was quite good. We had expected to have to go into Verdun for dinner and after looking at the menu at the hotel, we decided to eat there. The food and service was excellent.

Review 25:My family and I liked everything about this hotel. The location was perfect for launching several days of tours. The food was excellent and extremely well priced. The wine of the area was wonderful. The owners/staff were warm friendly and very amenable to our needs. It has pool and playground for all ages. It was a nice relaxing place to stay.

Review 26:Twin room left little room down one side of the bed. Some staff were excellent, some disinterested. Also had doubled our booking from 2 rooms, to 4 and then "interrogated us " as to why - luckily we had our Booking.com confirmation with us.

Review 27:The cleanliness was exceptional and the breakfast good value.

Review 28:Compared to other hotels in Verdun, this one is probably on a par. However, anyone coming here expecting much more than a bed and a shower will be disappointed. It certainly served me, traveling alone and here to spend all day at the battlefield, but I would not recommend bringing a family.

Review 29:The hotel was literally 2000 meters from the Verdun battlefield. It is also away from the town center so it is not so congested. Ample free parking.

Review 30:The room was so small that there was no room to hang a towel or anywhereto put a toothbrush. No closet space. Cheap ikea hanging gadget wasuseless. Absolutely overpriced and horrible.

Review 31:The outdoor garden was all right.

Review 32:The room was very small and the decor dreadful. The whole place seemed a little'tired'.

Review 33:The food in the restaurant was good. Plenty of parking but a little way from the town centre.

Review 34:I got a room which was not cleaned before. When I informed the staff I was promised a bigger room, but in the last moment I was offered the same type of room at another floor. The food in the restaurant was just reheated in the microwave and the visual aspect was unappealing. The staff failed to make up for their mistakes and were lacking hospitality manners Outdated visual aspect. Price too high for the value offered. All in all it was one of the worst experiences and I would not recommend the hotel nor the restaurant

Review 35:Wi-Fi did not work. This has happened on both our visits. Very difficult to find the hotel. Follow the road to Longwy, ZI Tavannes if you are lost. Poor lighting in the bedroom.

Review 36:The food in the restaurant is superb. You can walk into Verdun, about 30 minutes. Plenty of parking.

Review 37:Nothing to complain about really .

Review 38:Bedroom fine - not huge - but adequate . Bathroom of the plastic pod type as used by chains in France - shower on the small side . Beds comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant . The food was good but service was slow as there was only one waitress , and she was operating at full speed , and the restaurant was full .

Review 39:It was a bit difficult to find as you go into what seems to be an industrial area and it is up at the back - well worth finding though

Review 40:Lovely pool - a bit cold but lovely to sit around. Fantastic plat du jour Really friendly and helpful staff

Review 41:Service in all areas is quite slow but you get there in the end. You need to have a smattering of French as all the staff has only a smattering of English. They were helpful, though wrong directions were given a few times, due to misunderstanding on both sides.

Review 42:The hotel is situated in a part of a trading/industrials estate, about 4 km outside the town, with no other facilities or entertainment around it. Having said that, it did not feel as if the other buildings encroached upon it and it has a large car park. We visited the cemetery at Douaumont and surrounds, which are about 10km away. The restaurant serves good food.

Review 43:No wi-Fi on the night we stayed which was a nuisance. Water pressure in the shower was too low.

Review 44:The restaurant dinner was superb. It far exceeded our expectations. It takes around 30 minutes to walk into Verdun. Staff really nice. Excellent value. Lots of parking. Would stay again if in the area. Room small but comfortable.

Review 45:Above average French Motel style. Good welcome from helpful, informative staff. Clean room and pleasant common areas. Dinner, both nights, was of very high quality and well-priced.

Review 46:There's nothing we didn't like, we were just wondering why we couldn't have gotten to the hotel quicker. The culprit: the absence of a sign pointing to the hotel at the top of the road.

Review 47:We enjoyed the location, near the battlefields, the food, the comfortable beds, the rooms, the Wi-fi, the friendly staff at the reception...

Review 48:Staff on reception (NOT THE LADY) were a little abrupt and seemed to have "no client friendliness"
