Reviews for Phoenix Copenhagen

Review 1:Its very old: the bathroomdoor didn't lock, the shower was leaking and the hairdryer was broken and dusty

Review 2:Very nice room and a great location, near all hotspots

Review 3:We were there to celebrate New Years Eve. The very central location of the, super beautiful, hotel was perfect. Anywhere we wanted to go, was in a walking distance. We really enyojed it! Very nice staff, beautiful rooms, perfect location. We, and our three other friends, would definitely book that hotel next time. :)

Review 4:Front office managed to give my room to another woman . When I returned to my room in the evening - there was a drunk woman sleeping amongst my things - not good

Review 5:Tiny bedroom (was relatively expensive for the room size)

Review 6:Great location for visiting the city (walking), breakfast buffet good, staff very pleasant and helpful

Review 7:The rooms are tiny (even the suites are only standard sized rooms). The bathroom is one of those strange "wet rooms" where everything gets soaking wet when you shower. The bathroom was so small that you literally sit with your knees under the sink when using the toilet.

Review 8:The location, public areas, staff and breakfast are all truly wonderful

Review 9:I lived on the 4th floor. The water pressure is not enough. Rooms rather small and not much facilities provided.

Review 10:location convenience. Staff very friendly and the hotel is quite comfort and quiet. The breakfast is also excellent.

Review 11:Double room for € 200 is to small, toilet flashing not good working, walking at night to the bath room is to noisy (old Parkett floor)

Review 12:Location is fantastic. Breakfast is very good.

Review 13:wish there had been tea /coffee making facilities in the room

Review 14:great location , you could walk to most tourist spots and there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby . Spacious room , nice staff, interesting building .

Review 15:Phonic insulation - > someone has been watching TV all night long in the room next door and I could hardly sleep

Review 16:Perfect location Old fashioed but not tacky Good Breakfast

Review 17:None. Might have been helpful to have had info about the channels on the TV. Bath was a shade small.

Review 18:I loved the décor and the staff were fantastic. They were very friendly, professional and couldn't do enough for you. The food in the restaurant was excellent, one of the nicest hotel meals that I have ever had. Altogether a really nice place to stay.

Review 19:Traffic noice

Review 20:Booked a superior single. Very small but ok. Towards the street with heavy traffic. I use earplugs as I am easily disturbed. Ok. Nice reception and bar much nicer staff than last time.

Review 21:The water pressure in the shower was terrible, the corridors smelt of damp and the room was very small for 2 adults.

Review 22:The decor and friendly staff working at the reception desk. The location is very close to Nyhavn.

Review 23:You couldn't say a bad word about this hotel. Everything was perfect.

Review 24:Fabulous hotel in a fantastic location. The iconic Nyhavn is just around the corner and the Royal Palace and the Little Mermaid are just a few minutes away on foot. Very close to shops, bars and restaurants. Probably the best staff in the world. So helpful and friendly! Room was small but super comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. Wifi worked fine.

Review 25:Hotel is very outdated , rooms are small and smelly from old carpet , needs some seriuos renovation, breakfast is very basic .

Review 26:Location is perfect and staff are very nice.

Review 27:They ran out of umbrellas on one day but I suppose that is to be expected if it rains cats and dogs in Copenhagen.

Review 28:Paid 87€ for my single room which I found excellent value for money on my dates of travel. Very pretty hotel and room, very clean, excellent location.

Review 29:Claims to have parking, but doesn't specify that said parking costs $60/day! Attic-floor room with no airconditioning meant the air was stale and far too warm for a good nights sleep.

Review 30:Great service however, friendly staff. Perfect central location.

Review 31:The cleaning personal thought that we had checked out and walked into our room in the morning. Expensive for what you get.

Review 32:Great location, very close to everything. Nice building

Review 33:Very convenient location, a few 100 meters from Nyhavn and Marble Church. Nice old building, stylish furniture. Very wide range of meals during breakfast.

Review 34:Bad wi-fi in bedroom - intermittent or non existent Noisy room with lift shaft cupboard right opposite my room Poor shower pressure in bathroom which needed updating

Review 35:The location was brilliant and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I had a problem with my ankle and they recommended and arranged for a physio to come to the hotel who was excellent.

Review 36:no air-conditioning, radiator in the room was very noisy and kept waking me up, small room with tiny window, bathroom needs renovation, piping old, took forever to have hot water, elevators very slow - no stairs as an alternative

Review 37:central location, friendly personnel, interesting interior design, quiet at night, safe area, great for shopping trips, very comfortable bed, good wifi

Review 38:need to walk about 15min to get to metro station.

Review 39:close to nyhavn. very neat and pretty single room. bed was comfortable. it was good choice of mine to celebrate my last day of long trip!

Review 40:Hotel a little pricey for just a room with no amenities.

Review 41:Location was brilliant, literally 2 minute walk to nahavn. Tube stop is direct from airport and is literally minutes away. Clean tidy and friendly.

Review 42:The bed could have been bigger

Review 43:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great, very close to Nyhavn which is the bustling part of the city. The breakfast spread was delicious & had a good variety.

Review 44:Small, uncomfortable rooms. For the first night we could not receive our "standard double room" but a "small double room" only, as they ran out of it. We were compensated and the next day we were settled over into a "standard" one. The problem is, that even this larger was very small and uncomfortable, mainly comparing to the 4* hotel level and the prices.

Review 45:Excellent location, the hotel is in a walking distance to a lot of attractions and a metro station. The staff, mainly at the reception, was very helpful, we never had to wait for being served. The breakfast buffet was quite good, with a large selection of food, but the restaurant was often very busy during breakfast time.

Review 46:WiFi in the room was poor, breakfast was ok but not great. Staff were not very informative. They didn't tell me anything about breakfast, where to go etc, even though it was included

Review 47:Bedroom was nice and comfortable

Review 48:It is a bit awkward that you have to wait for the lift at busy times becauve the stairs is not an option.

Review 49:Peaceful Hotel in the middle of the city. Excellent access walking and by public trsnsportation to the attractions. The staff of the Phoenix is helpful, professional and friendly. Thank you again.

Review 50:Water pressure in the shower was too low, it took ages to wash off the soap and shampoo. The duvets were too warm for the summer, it was cold without them and sweaty hot under them. There was no tea/coffee selection with a little kettle offered in the room (other hotels of a 4-star range do offer that). In one of the table drawers I found a "rate your stay" questionnaire sheet filled by a previous guest who didn't seem to be too happy either.

Review 51:Central location

Review 52:The hotel is very dated. We were looking forward to a bit of luxury based on the photos but were disappointed. The price is too high for what we got

Review 53:The breakfast buffet was very good

Review 54:Restaurant was expensive, better options a block or two away. Room was hot and difficult to get comfortable temperature

Review 55:Easy to get to from the Airport Walking distance to all sights in Copenhagen Beautiful rooms and public spaces Comfortable bed.

Review 56:1) No snacks of any kind in the bistrobar (not even peanuts to buy). 2) Too narrow bed for 2 persons - strongly suspect they gave us a 1 person room, but charged us for a 2 person room.

Review 57:Good location. Nice interior.

Review 58:Bathroom a bit dated - taps don't work so well. Could do with an upgrade. Towels so small. Not a luxurious feeling. Think the front desk staff are efficient but not friendly or smiley. Fruit salad at breakfast had no colour - could have been made so much more appetising.

Review 59:Location lovely. Food in downstairs bar excellent. The breads and coffee at breakfast were good (just not enough variety as far as cheese and cold meats for a continental breakfast). Bed comfortable.

Review 60:not very friendly staff. No welcome, no thank you for staying at Phoenix. A very friendly blond lady at breakfast....the only one. The hotel is faded in style and atmosphere. If you want younger guests (under 70) I suggest you freshen up the place and tell the staff to give away a smile every once in a while.

Review 61:Great bed! Slept like a baby. Good breakfast

Review 62:Didn't get any towels even after speaking to the reception desk twice. The sink was clogged so I got to the wedding with a 4 day unshaven beard. Mailed the hotel manager. No answer.

Review 63:Breakfast was great the facilities too. Parking quite close to the hotel, on the costly side but close to the site and safe for the car.

Review 64:The stairs in the main entrance when you come with a heavy bag.

Review 65:Perfect central location close to Metro (Kongens Nytorv) which is the best (quickest and cheapest) transport from airport. Also close to running outdoor (the staff will give you a small map with possible runs). Great breakfast. Possible to open hotel room windows and get fresh air.

Review 66:We shared a room between three of us. I personally was on a put up bed which wasn't the best, it bowed in the middle. However, the other two had no complaints in the double bed. There was a constant smell in the common areas and lobby, similar to garlic. Didn't ruin the stay though.

Review 67:The staff were brilliant and the hotel was excellent value for money. The bacon was extra crispy, just how I like it in the morning. We had pre-paid for breakfast and there was plenty to chose from. Had my first experience with tea not being in a tea bag so had to use a strainer. You learn something new every day, like how to avoid to making tea without a teabag. Great location also, literally 3 seconds away from a mini supermarket and in the quiet end of town but not to far from the main centre.

Review 68:Sadly below average breakfast, my husband didn't like the coffee and I found the tea selection outdated. Tons of breads, meats and sugar but low on healthier options. The juices appeared to be from concentrate. The breakfast staff were all VERY loud, no music or other noise to tune out the tumbling personell.

Review 69:Very QUIET rooms, plush pillows, very soft but quite comfortable bed the whole family slept well. Great location obviously. The front desk was very accommodating. Children were pleased to get a room with a bathtub.

Review 70:room very small. room looks very old. the shower without enough pressure and only a cheap curtain, the water goes directly on the floor. Breakfast: only salty food. no sweets! I took the scrambled eggs...I did not like at all! :|

Review 71:the Hall Frigobar well furnished with drinks and snacks.

Review 72:Very small room, some noise from the street Friday, Saturday night from drunk people. The windows could have been better isolated.

Review 73:Great location, friendly staff

Review 74:We both got sick after eating the breakfast. The floor in the toilet vas SO HOT! We couldn't find a way to get the temperature down either haha.

Review 75:Beautiful room. Nice marble bathroom. Comfy bed and very luxurious.

Review 76:The bathroom floor is heated which is a nice touch, however in our room it was set to the temperature of the sun, and had to put towels down to make standing tolerable! Also the hotel would benefit from a bit of a redecoration as some parts are showing their age. Minor issues mostly.

Review 77:The staff at the phoenix are amongst the best I've encountered. Very polite and helpful

Review 78:Single room 4418 not good enough for a quality hotel. 1. No hook for hanging outside garments. Wardrobe not accessible for this and anyway unsuitable for possibly damp outer garments. 2. No bathroom heating? In WINTER? In Scandinavia? Shome mishtake, shurely? 3. Worst. Fairly high-sided bath. Far too dangerous for elderlies to use as NO HANDHOLDS provided. These faults show a lack of respect for you and me.

Review 79:Location. Staff. Food. Bar.

Review 80:The best of this hotel (without doubt) is the staff and the service. Nothing is trouble. Happy to help and solve some situation. It is obvious that they enjoy their work. The hotel is close to Nyhavn and the Castle Amalienborg (a short walk). Clean and tidy, comfortable. Good quality of wine in the minibar (reasonable price for such a nice hotel).

Review 81:soft bed, small rooms, thin walls and gap under door meant you could hear everything in near vacinity. drafty windows made room cold, an upgrade to rooms is need to match room to excellent service levels

Review 82:Location, breakfast, overall service, tv options, bar very comfortable and food good

Review 83:I had booked a room for three for space and comfort, instead they only gave me a double room and still charged me the cost of a triple large room.

Review 84:The location was very convenient.

Review 85:It's hit and miss with the reception staff. Some very nice a couple that could smile more but U guess some guests can be a pain. But in general it's good.

Review 86:You can pay for less accommodation in Copengagen but then don't complain. Paying a bit more you get a nice, clean and good hotel. This is my third visit here. I am not wealthy but fussy about where I stay in terms of cleanliness.

Review 87:The bathroom is quite old fashioned, the tap dripped constantly and was difficult to turn off, some of the towel rails were rusty and the bath really old fashioned.

Review 88:The location as it was near to centre and all the places we wanted to visit. The breakfast was brilliant and room very comfortable.

Review 89:Pillows. It's a lovely hotel but why oh why do so many well maintained expensively run hotels opt for cheap pillows? Even a super model would wake up looking like Ken Dodd.

Review 90:Lovely hotel, good rooms, highly trained friendly staff, clean, great location short walk from restaurants and centre. Would certainly recommend.

Review 91:although it was a non-smoking room, a clear burn mark of a forgotten sigarette was clearly visible on the table. Disgusting! Further, before check-out time, cleaning staff already knocking on door for cleaning.....

Review 92:the bathroom/toilette was not heated, almost impossible to shower in the morning and for a four stars it was quite a minus. Once informed the staff they promised to activate the heating under the floor. It was never done I did not take a shower for 2 days!!!!!!!!

Review 93:the location

Review 94:Dated facilities with a smell of old and smoke imgregnated in the carpets.

Review 95:Very helpful receptionists. The location is excellent. The breakfast is very rich and good

Review 96:My room was on the top floor (4028) and I guess in the roof there was a heating unit, so it was booming and buzzing all night long.

Review 97:Location is just excellent.

Review 98:extra charges can mount up e.g. the bottled water in room, breakfast (not cheap), use of credit card at check out resulted in a fee.

Review 99:location, staff, comfort, basic costs reasonable by Copenhagen standards

Review 100:Paying £20 each for my breakfast which was very poor we only wantedcoffee and toast they should have a coffee shop we had breakfast twicejust to have coffee total cost £80

Review 101:Nice frontage

Review 102:The wifi connection was v poor.

Review 103:The location of this hotel was great and the staff were very good. Breakfast was excellent but not included in the room price.

Review 104:Bathroom door could use some work, and the room was not very large, but these were minor issues.

Review 105:Great location. Old hotel, well built to begin with, respectable and has stood the test of time. Friendly staff and fantastic location! Very close to Nyhavn, which is my favorite area in Copenhagen. Oh, and did I mention the fantastic location?

Review 106:small room, very much noise from the street /bar below in Dronningens Tværgade. in the elevators you had to use your key card - worked badly! Breakfast too expensive.

Review 107:The room for an upgraded superior was overcrowded. No tea and coffee making services. Room needs a face lift. The bath is deep and for disabled and pregnant difficult to get out with no grab rail There was not enough sockets for charging phones and I PAD.

Review 108:The service , staff and food. The old wordy feeling of the entrance and good security.

Review 109:Beds weren't overly comfortable (depends on your preference of course), too firm.

Review 110:Location was great, close to Nyhavn, and away from the railway station area with all of its strip clubs. Breakfast was good, with a lot of selections. We were upgraded to a slightly bigger room at checkin, which is always a nice welcome. Parking in nearby garage was very convenient, and were discounted by the hotel.

Review 111:Room very small, but bed really, really small and we aren't overweight by any stretch of the imagination! Some aspects such as towels a little tired.

Review 112:Hotel location excellent - facilities as you would expect for this kind of hotel. Good value for what we paid.

Review 113:Rooms small with several pieces of furniture. Not much storage space for luggage

Review 114:Breakfast and pub at location so easy to use although expensive as all Copenhagen is.Staff at front desk and in Pub attentive and helpful.

Review 115:The shower and bathroom taps are old and not work properly. We asked them to fix it but it didn't help so we could open the cold water tap in the bathroom.

Review 116:Breakfast was great and in good hours! Nice and friendly staff. Location is very good and you can walk everywhere in the city.

Review 117:There was building work going on in the courtyard behind our room. They started work early and it was very noisy.

Review 118:Location and to be in the centre of Copenhagen. We were able to walk everywhere.

Review 119:The hotel is a bit old and one can see it - especially in the bathrooms. Also, when we got to our room, we found scaffoldings in front our windows. Not a big deal, but it should have been mentioned by reception.

Review 120:Great location, brilliant staff and very good breakfast (albeit a bit expensive).

Review 121:Wifi didn't work well for my iphone. On my Android Samsung was ok. Bath tub height was high and remember to use the chair to avoid any accident. We asked for an additional bed but it was too soft for our liking.

Review 122:Rooms and common area nicely deco-ed. Location was good, close to attractions and quiet part of city. Has a few restaurant and take out place and a convenience store around the corner. We added an extra bed to make it triple sharing and the room was spacious enough to accommodate us comfortably.

Review 123:Staff were very courteous and helpful. We reserved for 2 rooms. Upon check in, we did not realize that we got a room with AC and another room without AC. The next day we request for a room with airconditioner and they quickly found us a room with an airconditioner. Reception staff were always very helpful. Room was very cozy and clean.

Review 124:Inflexibility of the service - we moved an upgraded room as some room facility were not functioning. Full charged on the upgraded fee, even after my protest. Never seen this. Not so sincere service in general. No luggage porter at the arrival, as result we brought our luggage up the entrance stairs - nobody came to greet us upon check-in Not enough room amenities We didn't go to the breakfast buffet, but it looked awful with a lot of people

Review 125:Bicycle rental at the hotel Convenient location

Review 126:Very good hotel and a lot of charm. However, as with all things Danish, very expensive when compared to what you get North American hotels for the same price in large cuties

Review 127:Noise from the street until 2:00AM as trucks are stationning right under the windows with their engines turned on.

Review 128:Helpful staff, printer available (useful for plane boarding cards!), breakfast room and quality

Review 129:Interrupted sleep due to noisy fan in bathroom. Staff appeared to have rectified the issue however the fan restarted at 5.0am Staff did not ask - on departure whether I enjoyed my stay. Probably they knew the answer

Review 130:Nothing we did not love about this hotel!

Review 131:Beautiful room, luxuriously decorated, close to Amalienborg palace and a walk to Nyhaven and the Metro. A nice walk to the Little Mermaid and the Design Museum. Great local coffee shops. Loved everything about this hotel and it's location (Frederiksstaden Royal Quarter)

Review 132:Copenhagen is very expensive. Hotels rates are outrageous, even forEurope. Bathtub was very high, and I am short. Climbing in was not fun. Also the tub floor was rounded so very hard to get one's footing.

Review 133:The location was perfect for walking around Copenhagen. Staff was veryhelpful. I especially liked the automatic front doors. No hassling withluggage, like some hotels. Bed was very comfortable and I got good sleepeach night.

Review 134:Cleaners smashed goblet in the room during cleaning (we had found fragments later), but they did not bring the other one Plumbing in very poor condition Poor Wi-Fi in our room

Review 135:Polite and helpful staff at the reception Good breakfasts Location in the center

Review 136:Breakfast was overpriced Small room

Review 137:Great location - near New Harbor and Churchhill Park, art galleries. Very helpful front desk staff Great value for money Comfortable bed Elegant lobby

Review 138:Small room with too much furniture. Nowhere to lounge inside except giant lobby. Breakfast ok but in rather miserable cellar.

Review 139:Location, very close to centre and waterfront but a nice quiet street and the courtyard behind made it peaceful for sleeping. Lovely clean bathroom with nice shampoos etc. staff helpful and efficient.

Review 140:needs renovation - looking tired, especially the guest rooms and their bathrooms

Review 141:good price for its relatively convenient location breakfast resonable no extra charge for WiFi (compare to Marriot which charges £15 per day!)
