Reviews for Citotel Hotel du Tigre
Review 1:Given the cost of the hotel, it does not represent good value for money compared to other hotels we stayed in during our trip with a similar price. It looks like something out of the 60s both outside & in. The room was quite small & the shower even smaller, neither of which had been cleaned properly as we found our feet dirty when walking without shoes. Walls & floors were very thin & we could hear other guests outside the room & on the floor above. Despite the website claims, restaurants are most definitely not in walking distance unless you don't mind a 5 mile round trip. Parking is off the road but by no means secure & is gravel on tarmac - hardly suitable for a motorbike.
Review 2:Breakfast was typically French but at €7.50 each quite expensive for what was on offer which was limited in both quantity & choice. The staff were quite helpful & friendly & spoke good English which came in handy when my French started to falter.
Review 3:Can't think of anything
Review 4:Location was very good and the hotel had lots of character, a change from usual blandness. Front of building was very appealing
Review 5:Nothing at all. If I was being really Critical a soap dish in the shower would be good
Review 6:Good value for money.clean Room. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff
Review 7:Grim, institutional rooms, very noisy road, charmless surroundings.
Review 8:Sybil Fawlty said "You get what you pay for Basil" - she was right, and the best thing about Hotel du Tigre is the price. That said, you don't pay much so you don't get much. Breakfast is extra and was good value.
Review 9:The free wifi didn't work in our room. Multiple devices couldn't find a wifi signal.
Review 10:It was clean and basic, easy to find and pretty close to the town.
Review 11:Perfect for a family wanting a quick overnight stop. Staff are lovely and although its not luxurious, it is immaculately clean and our family room was huge. There were two beds up on a mezzanine floor level which were great for our 10 & 11 year old but would be unsuitable for really young children.
Review 12:Breakfast was overpriced for baguettes, croissants, juice, coffee, yogurt, and cereal. Save your money and grab something in town.
Review 13:Good location. Nice room for large family.
Review 14:High temperatures room was hot. Couldn't sleep with windows open as on ground floor. No venterlation in room. Needed a Fan.
Review 15:Friendly staff. Hotel Clean. A Good value for money Breakfast.
Review 16:My only real complaint was the breakfast or lack of breakfast. There were no proteins (meats, cheeses, or eggs) and only a choice of croissants and small bread rolls. The room was hot due to no air circulation.
Review 17:The hotel was as advertised and on par with all of the reviews I read. The hotel staff were very courteous and the room was clean. The Wi-Fi signal was very strong and the bed was comfortable. Overall a good deal for the price and fairly close (walking distance) to downtown Verdun.
Review 18:The price list posted by the Hotel was significantly higher than our booking price. We were given a 5 bed room when we booked for a couple with a 3yr old child. All facilities very basic
Review 19:The staff were friendly and helpful
Review 20:We had an attic room, which had a velux window and you can't have the electronic blind down and the window open. As it was a very, very hot night we had to have the window open (and were still hot) but this then meant the room was light at 5 am. No evening restaurant/bar
Review 21:Rooms very basic with Lino on the floor. One thin bath towel and one thin hand towel between us. No food or bar as it was a Sunday. Long walk into the town.
Review 22:The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was good
Review 23:Nothing really.. bigger towels might be a good idea and improve the ambience of the onsite bar but trivial matters really
Review 24:Rooms are spacious and clean, breakfast typical continental but very good value at 7 Euro 50 cents. Plenty of free parking and ideal for bikers too. Verdun centre is approx. 1.2 miles away and we walked it several times, not a problem for us but some may see that as a negative.
Review 25:Situated out of town, the hotel is basic with no frills. The rooms are perfectly adequate but nothing special although for the price I didn't expect much more. The shower arrangement in the bathroom was rather fun. A detachable showered that didn't sit correctly in its mounting when turned on. I had to place it in the bottom of the bath and stand on it to prevent it from squirting water everywhere. The Wi-Fi only really worked in the reception area. There didn't seem to be any facility for evening meals although, having reserved a table at a local restaurant before our visit I didn't pay much attention to this. There is a bar but it appeared to be closed. Breakfast was a very simple continental affair and rathe overpriced, I thought. Overall it wasn't too bad and it provided everything I needed. I'd probably use it again the next time I visit Verdun.
Review 26:We hadn't realised that the hotel is located in the residential outskirts of Verdun with no local facilities. It was necessary to drive (5 minutes) into town each evening for a meal. Our room in the annex would have benefited from more shelves and a drawer or two.
Review 27:A very friendly staff, good breakfast and adequate if basic room.
Review 28:Wifi did not work. Was able to locate "Hotel 3" but never connected. Didn't appear to be in a nice part of town.
Review 29:Price. Spacious room for family of five.
Review 30:Walls were rather thin and we could hear other guests coming and going.
Review 31:Very clean, well supplied, friendly and flexible staff. Very quiet area of hotel away from the street. A sweet place for good value.
Review 32:It is in the process of being painted and we couldn't open the window overnight as we were on the ground floor. It wasn't too bad though.
Review 33:friendly and helpful staff, clean, spacious and comfortable. Basic but great value for money. typical self service breakfast of cereals, croissant, juice, coffee etc but plenty of it. A great overnight stop.
Review 34:It looks a bit outdated (mainly because of the wall textures). The rooms were not very soundproof.
Review 35:The hotel is a bit outdated but the facilities are on par with any other within that price range, and at least the old building adds some character (something that many competitors lack). The facilities were fair and the rooms were very clean. Further, there was good wifi range in our room and there was plenty of parking space.
Review 36:The bathroom is on the small side and coud've used something like a small shelf or narrow cabinet.
Review 37:It's a nice place near to the road (the city is perhaps a 5-min drive from the hotel). The beds were pretty firm and the room was spacious and clean.
Review 38:Location is a bit tricky by car and hotel is a good leg stretch into town. But this is reflected in the price.
Review 39:We had a spacious room and big bathroom. Were allowed in early to leave our luggage. Plenty of free parking.
Review 40:The area after it is dark outside and after 10 PM is very dark. Parking behind the building is unsafe. It is extremely dark, no lighting and the road and parking area has deep ruts making it difficult to walk. Inside, it is to lighted. ln the hallway to the room it is very dark. Eventually a light does turn on. The windows were open directly to the outside, and in our room they were open to the dark parking lot behind the building. Cars were parked by our window. The blinds to provide privacy were outside. They could be closed from the inside, but one of them didn't work, so we hung a heavy blanket over the window. Bathroom shower below par. Bed linens thin and all used, but clean. Overall the place needs updating and definitely well lighted. Staff is nice, but we felt very unsafe.
Review 41:The view outside is typical French appearing. The area for the breakfast buffet was sell set up, comfortable and charming.
Review 42:Helpful staff, good recommendation to resturants. airy light room even though it was on the second floor - very clean. Excellant stay good parking. If you are walking into town its a good 20 min walk
Review 43:No English language channels other than World News.
Review 44:We had a problem with our car and the staff were supportive and helpful. Breakfast was good but lacked variety. Great restaurant round the corner - with links to hotel.
Review 45:The cistern on the toilet took a very long time to refill. There was no carpet, not even a rug on the floor. There was no air-conditioning. To reach our room, we had to climb two flights of stairs, as there was no lift. When we went down for breakfast, it was difficult to find room to sit as there was a large party of German tourists who had occupied all of the tables.
Review 46:The room was a comfortable attic conversion, with a Velux-type window. The shower was very powerful, and the room was very clean. The buffet breakfast offered a good variety of foods, and a selection of hot beverages was also available. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The free wi-fi was very easy to access. Parking was plentiful.
Review 47:A little noisy from the road at night. I didn't realise that after nearly 100 years the La Voie Sacree was still in full use.
Review 48:This was an excellent base for the exploration of the Verdun area within manageable walking distance from the town. Good car parking, cleanliness, a very reasonable breakfast, efficient staff, Wi Fi and good value for money ensures that we will return.
Review 49:Needs updating, but then it would be more expensive.
Review 50:Clean & comfortable rooms. helpful staff & very quiet. We have stayed several times as a stopover to Austria & it is cheap & does everything we need.
Review 51:The hotel was very BASIC. The bathroom was old and not very clean. Moreover we could not get a decent sleep because of people making a din all night long.
Review 52:Very basic accommodation, didn't feel safe on the top floor, if there was a fire there would be no escape. Doors in room didn't fit, staff speaks practically no English
Review 53:Family room included mezzanine floor and ladder that was not safe for small children. Breakfast cost extra and was not very good.
Review 54:Convenient location for our journey. Clean, family rooms Friendly staff
Review 55:Breakfast was adequate for the cost, facility was not very attractive, rooms were basic, but adequate.
Review 56:The staff were friendly and helpful, parking was free, check-in and check-out were fast and easy, bed was comfortable.
Review 57:no hot drinks available in the room and no snacks available, made do with a bottle of wine.
Review 58:ideal for WW1 sites, quiet yet central location. staff helpful, and dried our clothes after a 400km motor cycle ride in the rain. undercover off road parking for the bike.
Review 59:Tea/coffee facilities in room were absent. Hot choice at breakfast would be an asset to English language tourists. An English speakingTV channel would be appreciated - BBC/CNN.
Review 60:Location for WWOne battlefield/memorials Verdun. Staff very friendly, helpful. Room comfortable, roomy. Bathroom very good. Beds comfortable. Good value.
