Reviews for Castro
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Room with wonderful view on the sea and cliffs (but it can be windy/noisy when the meltem is blowing). Was not a problem for us! Large room and comfortable bed. The lady manager of the hotel (Despo) is very nice and helpful.
Review 3:There are several steps leading to the top floor.
Review 4:The room we was on the cliff and it overlook the Mediterranean Sea and the monastery. We loved the town with many restaurants that light up at night. The room was simply furnished but had everything we needed
Review 5:It was very windy on the cliff and so noisy at night.
Review 6:exceptional place for the room, on the cliff, and on the center of old town, with all restaurants and good places all around. Efficient advice of the staff for walking, and swimming on the island.
Review 7:The staff. You must be very precise and explicit when you are booking a concrete room.
Review 8:Some rooms have a fantastic view over the cliff. Clean rooms. Very central at the Chora.
Review 9:Wifi only available outside the office. The roof deck was nice but a little empty.
Review 10:The location is fantastic, just steps away from the center of the Chora, some rooms have a nice balcony to sit on. The owners are so sweet and accommodating. They really take care of their guests.
Review 11:Hotel is right on the cliff edge of the island's main town (hora/chora) overlooking the sea. In the old castle area (many picturesque alleyways). Amazing views. Staff couldn't do enough and full of recommendations given different wind directions we experienced - many spots you wouldn't even know about the wind! Clean, v comfortable, good sized rooms, huge beds! Ps. Don't stay in any other town on Folegandros. Chora is the most beautiful of all the Cyclades Islands I've visited. Rivals Oia in Santorini for sure. And sunsets from the church up on the hill faaar better. Great lil bus network, don't hire car not worth it!
Review 12:I am quite sad to write this negative review for an island in my county...But i am quite obliged to do this in order to help some other tourists to avoid the wrongs...,so as the unprofessional business people to be isolated !!!In Folegandros staying in a hotel is quite expensive and without value for money...at all .My bad luck led me to stay for 2 days in the Hotel Castro. There the only good was the view and the central location...But on the balcony of the first room ,given to me for staying, the pressure washer of the whole hotel was put on the wall .When any tap opened it made an annoying noise...Hearing that noise every two minutes you could not sleep ...or rest...Also in that room, next to the headrest of the bed ,was the tube FROM where waters were running nonstopingly ...For this reasons i demanded to change the room .The only alternative solution was ,as i was told,a smaller room to the roof-terrace.We were also told to pay big attention to the "stairs..." driving there. That was not an ordinary hotel room ...but the "washer room" of the old building .Its height was 2,2m with dimensions 2,5m X 4m with a single bed of a width of 1,40m for 2 people-who are not fit at all...-.Next day the bed was crashed as it was a very light cheap IKEA bed may be for a kid...When I announced to the owner that fact ...she told me that while we would go for swimming the bed would be repaired or changed or something...But returning back we saw the mattress on the floor ready for people for sleeping on the floor...No comments...Plus when in the evening we said to the owner Hi she did not answered....Next day she was calling us 4 minutes before 12 pm asking us to go for check out ...She also dropped my credit card to me and without saying thanks or any word ,she gave me the receipt already prepared from the previous day... THAT IMPOLITE and RUDE BEHAVIOUR is not custom in Greek islands where Greek Hospitality is famous....
Review 13:Folegandros Island is a small trendy cycladic island for "young couples in love" dressed in labeled stuff... The food in Folegandros is good and not expensive...and the bars are cute as also the small touristic shops...Finally the most nice stuff in Folegandros is the view at Caldera...That view you can easily watch on Youtube without all the negatives of a quite expensive leisure trip there...
Review 14:Before booking a room, you check the pictures on the website and you will fall in love with the rooms suggested. The D-day, when you arrive, you will be suprised by how windows are small, how the bathroom is small...Besides, when you are supposed to have the best room of the hotel because of the sea view and a balcony, you will see that the room doesn't have any window but has only enough place for a luggage. It's quite narrowed. Another point that we can point out during our stay is that the owners are a couple: the husband is perfectly helpful unlike his wife who has a very limited interpersonnal skill. Last point: no Wi-fi in the rooms and only at the reception...quite weird and unconvenient but it was written in the description of the hotel. The rooms are too expensive compared to what is offered.
Review 15:Typical room dated from the 16th century. Even if the windows are small, you can see a speechless view of the sea.
Review 16:Folegandros is an amazing Island and Castro is a Great place to stay if you want to live in Chora. Kind hosts, Nice room - everything you need for a good Price.
Review 17:When I arrived in the afternoon about 4pm, the hotel receiption was closed till 7.30pm. So I decided to go out and hire a scooter!!!
Review 18:The place was amazing, a proper old traditional Greek house. The couple were very helpful. While I had an accident and fell off the scooter, one of my arm were bleeding, so I went back to the hotel and they nursed me with first aid, first class service!
Review 19:I did not have a window in My room. Seems to be windows in just a few of the rooms in Castro. Be aware of the Laundry, for a small bag (not 1 kg) I had to pay 40€. Bad WiFi, works only just outside the small reception(wich is the manager couples livingroom).
Review 20:The wiew from the shared terrace was lovely. Good safety.
Review 21:As Castro is very opened, ear-plugs are necessary for sleeping. There is no TV, but this is far not a point on this island ...
Review 22:Castro is the best location in Chora-Folegandros, several hundreds years building with uniqe feeling and wonderful atmosphere. The staff is very kind and helpful!
Review 23:Close to the chora but still quiet and beautiful views from the roof
Review 24:Amazing sea view and the architecture of the Castro area is ancient and intriguing.
Review 25:Bed pillows could have been softer
Review 26:The owners were exceptionally pleasant and helpful, very clean facilities, and location was ideal.
Review 27:The WIFI wasn't working
Review 28:The views, the owners and the town!
Review 29:poor information about the place, poor furniture in the room

Review 32:be sure to rent the right room for you, because the are all different.
Review 33:very clean place, friendly staff and one of the best views in aegean sea.
Review 34:very small room dark room poor facilities

Review 36:Great location and very clean and well sized room. View on terrace was amazing! Definately I would recommend Kastro
Review 37:no wifi in the room (if you actually care about it)
Review 38:amazing view, great location, very clean, sweet owners
Review 39:No wifi at the room No aircondition (but very cool room) No TV!
Review 40:Best view in Folegandros Great Location, central, quite, historic.
Review 41:rude owner,very small room
Review 42:only the view but at night you can't stand in the "balkony"
Review 43:the most rude and unfriendly receptionist ever. uncomfortable bathroom
Review 44:nice location, clean rooms, amazing terrace view
Review 45:More could be done with the roof terrace
Review 46:Lovely spot perched on the cliff with spectacular views!
Review 47:Everything it's ok but nothing special for this grade.
Review 48:The view from the shared terrace.
Review 49:No fan / ac ( the room was very hot even with a breeze)
Review 50:The view was one of the best in the world! and staff were amazing!
Review 51:It's ok but nothing special for an excellent grade.
Review 52:You are asked to save as much water as possible; alas, this is a problem of the whole island of Folegandros.
Review 53:The view from the room is superb, directly to the sea. The owner is a very friendly person, always ready to solve our needs while at the hotel.
Review 54:With that price breakfast could be included, but it was high season... so... Beware that wi-fi is not available in the room, but this is stated in the hotel's description and also visitors are advised to have low wi-fi expectations on all of the island.
Review 55:Very cozy room and confortable bed, magnificent view, just in the center of Chora, which is probably the most beautiful of all "capitals" in Cyclades islands.
Review 56:No Internet in the room. Bit expensive for what u get but suppose its the price for hight season.
Review 57:Nice characteristic building right in the middle of the main village. Friendly staff. Wonderful communal terrace with the view of the sea.
Review 58:Could have done with a kettle and cups in the room.
Review 59:Rooms very clean, friendly staff, always a smile. Room was tidied every day. Great view from the shared roof terrace. Quiet at night. Traditional ceilings. Good being in the old Castro quarter. Free wifi but only at the reception area because the walls are so thick.
Review 60:Concerning the room, I can only speak for one with a sea view, which was a great experience. Very spacious, clean and with an amazing view from the window. A strong wind current is ever present and blessedly cool. Lovely common terrace for all the hotel guests, friendly and helpful staff and perfect location.
Review 61:traditional cycladic house, very quiet although it is situated in the centre of Chora, excellent cleaning service on a daily basis. The people of the guest house are very friendly and hospitable. Breathtaking view from the terrace (available to all guests) and some of the rooms. I would highly recommend it.
Review 62:Wifi only outside the reception. Small bathroom
Review 63:Amazing location, and great view from the shared roof terrace. Quiet at night.
Review 64:Incredible view! Hotel was amazingly well located, very friendly staff and the room was really big. the bedd was extremely comfy.
Review 65:Everything is perfect in Castro. That place is magic!
