Reviews for Bostrase B&B

Review 1:The only extremely miniscule complaint was that we would have liked a power shower, but apart from that it was perfect.

Review 2:The friendliness of Matt and Boo and the ambience of the house/decor/furnishings. It was extremely comfortable but (and this is a good but) the furniture was very eclectic we absolutely loved it here.

Review 3:There is absolutely nothing to dislike about Bostrase - it's perfect!!

Review 4:Boo and Matt were exceptional hosts - as commented already nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts at 8.30am each morning is an inspired idea and you really do get to know other people staying there as well as Boo, Matt and their animals. The breakfast itself was so delicious with plenty of toast, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee and a full English every day that certainly set us up for our daily excursions. Our room was so comfortable with everything you would need and more. We don't think we have slept so well for a long while - the bed was that good!!!! Thank you Boo and Matt - keep up the good work with running your exceptional B&B and maybe put a glockenspiel in the conservatory ;-)!!!!

Review 5:At breakfast everyone eats together at a large table.

Review 6:Proprietors were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There were extra things given, like fresh milk, snacks.

Review 7:Very friendly atmosphere, beautiful house and amazing breakfast. Boo and Matt are very welcoming and helpful, follow their recommendations for local trips!

Review 8:Felt that the time for breakfast was a bit early would have been nice to have breakfast a little bit later also didn't really like having to all sit together and make conversation at time of the morning.

Review 9:Enjoyed stay

Review 10:Having to leave

Review 11:Boo and Matt were very helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. It was like a home from home and really enabled us to relax. The breakfasts were outstanding and the whole place radiated charm and warmth. Cannot wait to go back.

Review 12:My room was very small, and the shower/toilet was at the end of the corridor (I believe this will change in the next year anyway).

Review 13:Lovely people in a lovely location. Food was excellent.

Review 14:We were totally satisfied and happy with everything.

Review 15:Everything - the owners made us both feel very welcome and it was home from home. The room was spacious and having a little fridge made all the difference with fresh milk for drinks readily available. The environment was most relaxing and the B & B was near to St Ives easily reached by rail. The owners went above and beyond checking we had a taxi booked for the evening at a reasonable cost.

Review 16:The beds were a little too warm and the shower cubicle would have been a struggle if we were big people. However, we understand the hosts have plans to address the bathroom sizes.

Review 17:The hospitality and friendliness of the hosts. The exceptional views from our bedroom.

Review 18:There was nothing not to like at Bostrase

Review 19:Perfectly clean and comfortable rooms, and amazing breakfasts. Boo & Matt are great hosts; tea & coffee made for us on arrival, help with lugging baggage up the stairs, Boo even asked us if we needed to use the laundry. A great couple to chat with; very interested in their guests and travel experiences. Matt & Boos breakfasts are not the usual B&B fare...we were treated to raspberries freshly picked from the garden, home-made jams/preserves. Matt is the chef and makes an excellent omelette & scrambled eggs. Try his slow roasted tomatoes.... roasted in the oven for more than an hour before breakfast and served with the omelette or full English. Most definitely our best B&B breakfast experience. Bostrase is only a few minutes drive from Hayle ; we found it to be a very convenient location to base ourselves when exploring this part of Cornwall. It's away from the crowds, no parking problems and unlike some B&B's you can come back to Bostrase during the day for a nap or a cuppa if you wish. Matt & Boo are full of knowledge about the local area & Cornwall. Large maps on the walls, plentiful supply of brochures and magazines, help with train timetables etc etc..

Review 20:No fault of theirs, but as we were last minute in booking an accommodation we were unable to stay closer to St Ives.

Review 21:Boo was a great host! She made us feel so at home. Other guests gathered for breakfast the next morning and everyone was so friendly. It felt like we were amongst family and friends. Great breakfast! Boo gave us a great recommendation for a drive around the area, which we did and was well worth the time!

Review 22:We liked the accessibility of the business owners. They did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Also they had extensive knowledge of the surrounding area, which came in very handy.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:The large breakfast table for all the guest to eat breakfast together is an excellent idea. We got several ideas of where to visit from all the other guest. This definately added to our holiday.

Review 25:Boo and Matt are a lovely couple and made our stay really relaxed and enjoyable. We especially liked the idea of everyone sitting around one large table for breakfast and sharing ideas.

Review 26:I failed to realise my room did not have en-suite when booking (my error), but that said, all other rooms were, so I had sole use of the main bathroom along the landing.

Review 27:Boo & Matt were great hosts, the location was beautiful, breakfast was delicious and I regret only booking for one night. Would certainly recommend it.

Review 28:This was certainly not an issue for us, but if you are the type who likes to stick to yourself when at a B&B, take note that breakfast is at a communal table (which Matt built!), where everyone chats with one another. This was one of the highlights of the stay for us; however, I realize that some might not feel the same, and so it's worth noting here.

Review 29:My husband and I stayed here with my mother (in another room!) over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The location is wonderfully quiet, yet incredibly easy to get everywhere from (if you have a car, anyway). St Ives is a 15 minute drive, so it's very convenient to spend the day there and 'come home', so to speak, at night. The beds are comfortable, the grounds beautiful, and the gang of ducks, chickens, one very handsome rooster, a couple of cats, and stunning Newfoundland doggy, were all such a delightfully warming addition. Above all, though, you couldn't ask for better hosts than Boo and Matt. They go out of their way - in a remarkably effortless way, might I add! - to make you feel at home, and ensure you are having a pleasant stay. We had many a long chat with them, and after having stayed at many a B&B before, I have to say that these two are the most genuinely kind hosts, who actually care to speak with and get to know their guests, rather than what you often get which are hosts who are burnt out and dispassionate about what they do. These two, and this place, are made of magic, and we hope to stay at Bostrase again in the future, should we ever find ourselves out that way. Oh, and make sure you try Matt's roast tomatoes at least once at breakfast - deliciously addictive!

Review 30:Having no wardrobe only hooks on the wall. Personally I like more modern furnishing but this personal choice. My friend did like the furnishings.

Review 31:Comfortable accommodation peaceful surroundings good food. Very welcoming. Hosts.

Review 32:Boo and Matt do an excellent job of making you feel welcome , they cater for you're every need . The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are spotless.. If you are looking for peace and quiet , then bostrase is the place to go . The breakfasts are excellent too .. We'll be back soon

Review 33:Some noise from the upstairs rooms.

Review 34:Nice quiet location - the cockerel alarm clock isn't let out until 7:30. The highlight has to be at breakfast when all guests come together 'en famille' at an enormous round table for a well-cooked meal and conversation. Matt and Boo join their guests once breakfast has been served.

Review 35:Absolutely nothing

Review 36:When my arrival was welcomed by the hostess with a coffee and chocolate cake, I knew I had chosen well. She and the host were the best part of my stay, looking after us all very well, they were very friendly and accommodating, and relaxed and helpful, with advice and directions to enable me make the best of my visit. The breakfast was lovely.

Review 37:Stayed for 4 nights in this lovely B&B and everything was perfect Perfect peaceful country location The room was clean and pretty with a comfortable bed Matt and Boo are lovely hosts We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay there again !

Review 38:We hated having to leave! Next time we will make sure we stay longer but we only booked 3 nights because by day 3 we're usually wanting to go home anywhere else we've stayed.

Review 39:Boo and Matt are both lovely people, they made our stay the most enjoyable one we have ever had. We felt like family staying at Bostrase. The breakfast was amazing, rooms were fantastic with everything you need and the garden is also beautiful. I could go on all day about how perfect everything was and have been doing since we came home!!

Review 40:Having to leave.

Review 41:The hosts treated me like family, making me feel most welcome, and being very responsive to any questions or concerns i may have had. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Review 42:October onwards when no cooked breakfast is offered, it would be nice to have a choice of fresh fruit rather than just fruit juices.

Review 43:Warm welcome on arrival with tray of hot drinks. Good range of drinks and biscuits in our room. Really comfortable bed. Plenty of information available about local places of interest and advice on the best places to eat.

Review 44:Leaving to come home!

Review 45:Boo and Matt made us feel so very welcome from the minute we arrived - nothing was too much trouble. Everything was so lovely and clean and very comfortable - Matt cooked a superb breakfast each morning and it was fun to sit round the large circular table and chat with other guests (most interesting at times!). Location was superb and we definitely would recommend this B & B, we will certainly be returning in the future when visiting Cornwall. Thank you Boo and Matt for making our stay with you so enjoyable. Pat and Pete

Review 48:The approach driveway was a bit of a concern having just got a new car but would nether keep us away

Review 49:Excellent service Excellent breakfast Excellent comfortable room Nothing too much trouble Hosts out of this world Boo even fetched us from the station after returning late at night from ST Ives and would not accept anything for it (even got her out of bed) We will return very soon to identify the gear box housing in the centre of the large breakfast table (good excuse for a return) These two cannot do any more for you they are the perfect hosts Thanks guys for a perfect stay

Review 50:Rough access track to House. Noisy other quests' toilets.

Review 51:Welcoming and obliging hosts; I felt like I had made new friends. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent full English breakfasts. Look forward to going back September next year, if weather and vacancies suit.

Review 52:Very friendly owners and comfortable bed. They have created a homely, welcoming, cosy ambience. Very relaxing. Lovely coffee which is hard to find after living abroad.

Review 53:Nothing to dislike

Review 54:Room clean, comfortable, well appointed. Fresh milk (hooray!) for hot drinks in silent fridge. Boo and Matt friendly and helpful. Breakfast sociable around a huge circular table built by Matt. Able to chat and share best places to visit, eat etc. Boo's 'Top tips' and Matt's cooked breakfasts make a winning combination! Whole experience very enjoyable, will definitely be returning and have already recommended to friends.

Review 55:If I had to complain about anything, I'd say that the bed was a bit too soft. It sank so much that I had a bit of a back-ache towards the end of my stay. But this is highly subjective and cannot be held against the B&B

Review 56:Ease of access - location Friendly staff Great breakfast options, even for vegetarians Comfortable amenities in the room

Review 57:A great bed and breakfast.Quirky comfortable and very clean. The hosts made everyone feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was fantastic-great ingredients very well cooked!

Review 58:We cannot praise this B&B enough, the warm welcome, comfortable room and fantastic breakfast made this an ideal place to stay. Only sad that we could not stay longer, would certainly stay again.

Review 59:Boo and Matt were such charming hosts, we wanted to linger over breakfast for hours with them. Even our teenage boys were charmed by them and their cats (and dogs, and chickens and ducks). I hope we can return very soon.

Review 60:Wifi was patchy.

Review 61:The welcome, hospitality, assistance and breakfasts provided by theowners were amongst the best we have experienced. They were prepared togo well beyond what we had encountered elsewhere tin Europe to ensuretheir guests enjoyed a relaxing and productive stay.

Review 62:Leaving!

Review 63:Everything about this place was perfect for our needs, it was absolutely spotless, had brilliant facilities, decorated beautifully with lovely small touches, generous with its drinks facilities and snacks, had an amazingly soft and sumptuous bed and a big brilliant shower, had delicious cooked breakfasts with amazing homemade fruity jams, was nicely tucked away - but not in the middle of nowhere and close by to amenities, and had animals tottering around the place which we really really enjoyed! And of the course the owners - who made it even better, they were so sweet and lovely and easy going to talk to, we had a great laugh and made good friends with them even though we stayed a short time. We miss it!!

The accommodation is very comfortable. We would visit again.
