These 1- and 2-bedroom serviced apartments within a superb, converted Victorian building are located in the heart of Sunderland, across from Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.
The building boasts a fantastic oak staircase leading to a galleried landing with a beautiful stained glass dome above. All apartments are individually designed and have everything expected of a 4-star hotel room with the added benefit of a fully-equipped kitchen with washing machine/dryer and dishwasher, a full range of kitchenware, as well as cleaning and a linen change.
Spacious living areas have sumptuous leather sofas and TVs with digital TV and DVD players. There is no minimum or maximum stay.
The Sunderland Stadium of Light and Aquatic Centre are only a 15 minute walk away. The 100-year old Sunderland Empire Theatre is just a 3 minute walk away , and Sunderland Train Station is only a 4-minute walk away. Newcastle is a 30 minute drive away.

Review 1：The apartment was not clean,the internal blinds, windows, carpets etc were not good. There were 11 bulbs out in the apartment including the one in the ensuite which meant shower in the dark on the Friday evening. The fridge freezer was frozen solid so couldn't use it for ice etc.

Review 3：Having no parking with the property and very limited availability nearby. It's a shame there is no 2nd toilet with the en-suite facility

Review 5：Only down falls are that the offices are closed on the weekend and I had forgot whether I was meant to post the keys through the letter box of the office or leave for the cleaner 2 pick them up from the room but I ended up posting them and never heard anything else so must of been right and the wifi i can't comment on because I forgot to ask about it.
Review 6：I liked mostly everything. Nice size for just the 2 of us. All the shops were close by and the apartment was very clean and presentable. The biggest down fall in this apartment was defiantly the leaving it part i wanted to stay again ..... defiantly be showing a face again.

Review 9：As we arrived after the office closed we arranged to pick the keys up from the restaurant (under the apartments) however we realised we didn't have directions or post code for the apartment just the office.. googled the restaurant to find the app.. parking city centre is an issue

Review 11：I did not find anyone when I arrived and I wish if I knew earlier that no staff in location. I had to call a number and wait for someone to bring the keys while my family had to wait in the street until the keys arrived.

Review 13：Check in check out time is imbalanced. You have to pay full amount but cant stay full 24 hours. Mirror for the small bathroom is in very inconvenient place. The wash basin is too small.

Review 45：As we where going for nights out in Newcastle, the distance from Sunderland to Newcastle is not the best. A cab set us back around 25quid each way, and on the saturday they over charge and try charge up to £60..Sunderland night life, is not good and a waist of time compared to Newcastle, esp when traveling over 5hours from the capital.
Review 46：Excellent staff and accomedation, sexy decoration. Hawksley House is so well mentained, it makes everyone feel as if it is their actual flat. The place smells nice from the moment u open the door till the time u leave.Great layout and very spacious, would definatly use the company again.

Review 52：Stayed in Apartment 1, So much more comfortable and relaxing than a hotel, space to spread out and chill, flexibility of own cooking or going out, free WiFi. Very well equipped, clean, modern simple designs in old buildings giving lots of light. This was our second visit to Hawksley House, cannot fault it really and will be booking again. Would strongly recommend.

Keys are to be picked up from their office, which is a 2 minute walk from the apartments at Hackett Property, Lynas House, Athenaeum Street, Sunderland, SR1 1NA.Any key pick-up after 6 p.m., Monday to Friday; after 4 p.m. on Saturdays; and at any time on Sundays , must be arranged in advance. The management’s out-of-hours service will then make arrangements to meet guests at the desired time.Please contact Hackett Property in advance, in order to inform them of your estimated time of arrival.
