Reviews for Three Queens Hotel

Review 1:The room was a little tired. There was a terrible draft whistling through the window. The bathroom light is on a sensor which was most strange, I like to decide when I put a light on especially if one of us goes to the loo during the night, the other one is woken up by the bright light. I didn't sleep well in the bed as I found the bed to be very hard and the pillows were so lumpy I ended up waking up with a headache.

Review 2:The staff during breakfast were very friendly and accommodating. Free parking is a bonus and only a short walk to the town centre. Good choice of breakfast.

Review 3:In the Hotel information leaflet it states:-( Our Breakfast is Certainly not to be Missed ! Cooked Fresh to Order, there is no better way to start the day ) at 08:45 my Breakfast was not fresh and was plated before my arrival in the dining room.a slight skin on beans etc. A very small point.

Review 4:The room was great along with the staff who I could not fault. Car Parking was good. There is no problem at all with this Hotel it is 100% better than most other Hotel's that I stay in.

Review 5:Didn't like the fact that the double bed was made up of two beds pushed together. We tended to roll towards the middle of the bed where it gapped.

Review 6:Close to where we wanted to be. Value for money.

Review 7:We did not like that they did not do evening meals during our time of visiting which was 26th to 28th December. We also did not know they did not have a lift.

Review 8:The helpfulness of all the staff, the comfort of our room and the choice of breakfast and the time it was served. We were very satisfied with our overall stay, and would certainly stay again.

Review 9:Not a great welcome at all, such that we were deciding if we should go and stay somewhere else. The staff then apologised for having had a really difficult day and were very nice thereafter!

Review 10:Cheap

Review 11:We were attending a wedding based in the National Brewery Museum, and as this hotel was only 10 minutes walk from the hotel, it was a perfect location

Review 12:Nothing I didn't like atall

Review 13:Everything you need is there at the three queens. Lovely big rooms, food excellent both at breakfast and in the bar. Close to all amenities. Staff very polite and helpful.

Review 14:One waitress at breakfast was less than professional and the bar and dining room were very quiet in the evening. The vegetarian options at dinner were very limited.

Review 15:Generally the staff were brilliant, friendly yet professional, especially the receptionist (Tanya?) and Sarah in the dining room.

Review 16:Slight smell of smoke when we entered the room. If not smoke what was it? Our stay was OK. The furniture in the small room looked old for a so-called Executive Suite! Bathroom clean but very small.

Review 17:Staff excellent. Woman behind bar also waited at table, very attentive and helpful. Evening food in restaurant OK, breakfast good. Car parking convenient once you find it in the dark.

Review 18:We booked a double room and were expecting a double bed - however we were given 2 single beds pushed together, with different mattresses - one was higher than the other. The shower leaked all over the floor and there were gaps in the sealant between the bath and the tiles.

Review 19:The room was quite spacious

Review 20:Disappointed that we couldn't eat in the bar on the Saturday night due to a private party. Double bed was two singles pushed together which caused some discomfort.

Review 21:Very friendly staff, excellent quality of food. Good location. Lovely breakfast.

Review 22:We paid £65 for a double room. It was very small (the bathroom was about the same size) and felt quite cramped. For the money I didn't think much of it at first. However we were travelling with two other couples and when we saw the size of their rooms we were very surprised - they were HUGE!!! Really spacious, felt like they had a nicer finish (much more elegant) one even had a settee and lounge area - ours you had to side shimmy for the bed (my partner is really tall and broad shouldered). They paid the same price as us. Like I say really for the price the room was more or less as I expected but it does seem a little unfair that others pad the same but got something well over twice the size of our room with a sitting area/four poster bed etc. Most hotels vary the pricing to reflect the room type and I think personally that should be done here

Review 23:Close to town centre, breakfast included in the cost which was very tasty

Review 24:TV did not have subtitles available. No snacks available in the bar; was told that the kitchen was too busy with a party. So why were the menus etc put on the tables?

Review 25:The room was comfortable and service at breakfast was very good, friendly staff.

Review 26:Nothing we could say we didn't like.

Review 27:You were made to feel very welcome. Staff very friendly. Bed very comfortable and room spotless. Both breakfast and bar food excellent. Hotel close to all amenities. (Town, transport, restaurants.)

Review 28:Very pleasant place to stay, we have stayed there twice now and will defiantly return. Only took an hour to get there so also convient for 1 or 2 nights.

Review 29:The building is a bit worn-out especially staircase and windows. The facilities were hidden in chest of drawers....WHY?

Review 30:The bathroom was very clean. The reception and breakfast room staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 31:We both suffer from bad backs and the mattress was not comfortable could do with upgrading.

Review 32:We were in the lodge the room was very quiet. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, good selection of breakfasts.

Review 33:Staff were OK, but not particularly welcoming or cheerful - although they were extremely efficient. 4am - what sounded like a dishwasher running and somebody rearranging furniture in an area below me - luckily I did have earplugs. Bed was very soft and the mattress wanted you in the middle of the bed regardless of where you tried to sleep.

Review 34:10 minute walk frrom railway station. Opposite a very good brewery/pub, but there are many of both in town. Free breakfast included, although I didn't take up the option. The uneven floor in the room was quirky, yet the leaky shower window on the bath let you trace the actual angles of the wonky floor due to the pattern of running water. Free car parking (if I had driven). Free Wifi. Free Nelson Mandela.

Review 35:We were in an annexe room which had seen better days. It was clean but tired. Some of the lights didn't work. The bathroom light was on a sensor and there was no way of turning it off. It was on a timer. Some of the plaster was missing from a wall.

Review 36:Good location. Staff friendly.

Review 37:Seemed a bit dated in style and decor.

Review 38:Like a traditional British hotel like we used stay in twenty years or more ago Nice friendly British staff and excellent breakfast

Review 39:The receptionist is very unwelcoming. I arrived early evening on Monday 12th Oct approx 7pm. Some of th ebreakfast staff are also very abrupt. The hotel is very dated but comfortable, slept like a log!

Review 40:I like the location.

Review 41:Breakfast staff indifferent; served juice (no choice offered), coffee, meal (menu says eggs, asked for eggs -confirmed poached egg -that's what I got, one egg) then ignored me

Review 42:Clean comfortable room

Review 43:original room was very stuffy, but staff were happy to move us to a different room, that was better.

Review 44:really helpful staff, comfortable room, and a nice breakfast.

Review 45:The place looks somewhat tired and the carpets are threadbare in places. The fried breakfast was average at best and my fried egg was more like a hard boiled egg...

Review 46:This place is fine if you just need somewhere to sleep for a night. The staff were friendly and helpful. Comfy bed.

Review 47:Mattress was terrible, No iron available for 40 mins, got breakfast order wrong, safety light in bath room comes on auto but goes off to quick which was awkward in shower leaving you in the dark. Evening meal was very poor and slow.

Review 48:Cant think of anything

Review 49:Nothing, it's a great hotel.

Review 50:Very nice hotel, old fashioned but in a good way, clean and tidy. The staff were amazingly friendly and courteous and they still 'serve' breakfast rather than having it buffet style and it was a great breakfast.

Review 51:Traffic was a bit noisy the hotel is on a very busy road and traffic was noisy from about 04.00 but this did not spoil our stay.

Review 52:Staff very friendly and professional,we were welcomed by helpful receptionist we made a great start to our stay.

Review 53:We stayed two separate nights & both rooms had really poor lighting, you couldn't see to read or do hair & make up, it was awful. Uncomfortable beds & the shower leaked in one room!

Review 54:Location to town centre & the breakfast was fresh & hot!

Review 55:We had a double executive lodge room. We asked for an upper story room when the website said there were still 4 double exeutive lodge rooms left and we got a ground floor room which made it quite noisy with the traffic right outside our window.

Review 56:The cleanliness of the bathroom wasn't good. Outside of the bath was coming away and there was a crack in the window.

Review 57:We liked the comfort of the beds and the tea and coffee facility.

Review 58:The single beds were really small and the duvets enormous which made them hard to manage. There was a coach party and due to a real lack of staff breakfast took ages.

Review 59:It was convenient and fairly quiet despite the proximity to the road. Staff were generally helpful and friendly

Review 60:Even though we came down late towrds when they serve breakfast they were still attentive. The staff were extremely pleasant. Five stars! Nothing was too much trouble.

Review 61:room was slightly too warm but nice and clean and very comfortable. Great value for money.

Review 62:Staff were very helpfull. Breakfast was great. Fantastic selection. Breakfast staff could not do enough for us.

Review 63:the bar is poor & the access at the rear is a negative you should have a front entrance as well

Review 64:the hotel covers all your basic needs have used you before & will use you again

Review 65:Sultriest night of the year - we were in a room with no aircon or facility to open windows. Fan provided but couldn't run it all night because of it's noise

Review 66:Helpful staff, great location (opposite Burton Bridge Brewery!)

Review 67:Asked THREE times before my stay for a late check out at 1pm as working nightshift the night before i left and wanted to sleep before travelling. Was told this was ok however, woken at 11am then 11.10am by housekeepers barging into the room both times, then received a call at 11.20am from front desk asking why i did not check out. not impressed

Review 68:Breakfast was lovely, excellent variety

Review 69:Room to cluttered and small, breakfast staff were not attentive and I had to wait for 30 minutes for breakfast just because there was a coach party booked in, not acceptable!

Review 70:The toilets are dirty, same all the bathroom, except room 20. The breakfast is usually a cheep one and the price for a double bed room is a bit higher for Burton. With the same amount the money you will find something better in Birmingham.

Review 71:There isn't a lift in "The Lodge" part of the hotel, so if using stairs is difficult then the main hotel is the best option. Passing traffic can be noisy due to being on a busy road.

Review 72:Very well located near the town centre, good, spacious rooms, excellent breakfast freshly prepared.

Review 73:Room dusty, remains of burst balloons on floor & on the bed headboard. Felt we were in the "cheap seats". Not tempted to have breakfast.

Review 74:Staff very helpful. Posted on property I inadvertently left behind.

Review 75:To get to Room 224 you must go up three flights of stairs then down one. Not convenient if you want to smoke a cigarette ...

Review 76:The hotel is centrally located

Review 77:It was hot and we were lucky we got ine room with AC but the had no AC and was hard cor children to sleep well because of that

Review 78:Very cosy nice hotel and manages to provide what we needed. I liked the newly refurbished bathrooms too

Review 79:Hmm... not much to be honest, I was abit disappointed the USB connection on the TV couldn't be seem in settings, we take a harddrive with us with films on to watch BUT never mind, the deal was so good can't really complain.

Review 80:Huge room and bathroom, really nice and friendly staff, parking right outside our room... awesome value for money and we will be staying there again next year.

Review 81:The fish and chip dinner was awful but we were not charged fit it. Despite citing my husband's disability on booking we were given a room a long way from reception, from the restaurant and from the breakfast room.

Review 82:The wifi. Good coffee in the bar.

Review 83:No lift in annex, stairs were very steep! Very little outside space.

Review 84:Room was quiet, large and comfortable. Staff were pleasant, good choice at breakfast.

Review 85:One criticism we had was the fact that the restaurant had the same menu as the bar - would have liked a better choice in restaurant

Review 86:Comfortable room, good location and parking on site

Review 87:The bathroom door squeaked loudly every time we got up during the night and the automatic light streamed straight into my eyes, and disturbed me. The door of Lodge room 204 needs some lubricating oil. Why is the light automatically on every time the door is opened? There should be an on/off switch.

Review 88:We had to move rooms, due to no hot water, which they knew about before putting us in the room. No thought for guests when workmen where working at 0730 on the Saturday morning, they should have waited until at least 0900.

Review 89:The staff tried to be as helpful after things went wrong!

Review 90:It would have been nice to be offered fruit with the continental breakfast which was a little dull. However the second day I opted for the cooked breakfast which was very good

Review 91:The bar meals were very good value and beautifully cooked- an excellent steak with trimmings and vegetables for £9.95

Review 92:Evening meal menu wasn't fantastic, and not good value for money. Otherwise no complaints at all.

Review 93:Excellent location with friendly staff. Breakfast was especially good and served quickly.

Review 94:I felt that one of the receptionists didn't really want us there, not very welcoming.

Review 95:Fantastic staff at breakfast time who were working hard doing other duties later on and still managed to put a smile on, night porter was also excellent.

Review 96:No room service No Air con No room telephone Shower was broken TV didn't work properly couldn't check in until 3pm Some staff were less than helpful

Review 97:The room looked nice and the venue is good

Review 98:did not have any just one small detail the toilet brushes need changing was quite brown.

Review 99:the room had plenty of space. had plenty of choice of menu for breakfast. the staff could not be more helpful and were very pleasant.

Review 100:we found the rooms needing a complete refurbishment the ceiling had big cracks in it and the Barth had mold in the corner .we where there for a week and we never had clean sheets

Review 101:Sensor for bathroom lighting failed to switch off the light. Room cleaning left much to be desired.

Review 102:Friendly and helpful reception staff. Good breakfast.

Review 103:The room was hot & if the windows were opened the noise from the traffic was too loud.

Review 104:Ideal location for the national brewery with a micro brewery directly opposite. The room was very nice, clean & comfortable but could have done with air con as the sound of the traffic was loud when the window was opened. Good free parking facilities on site which nowadays is a bonus. The breakfast is very nice with good friendly service. All in all a very good stay. Would have expected to pay more for this standard of hotel.

Review 105:The left scared me

Review 106:I have stayed at the Three Queens twice now both times have been excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and well looked after.I will be staying again soon.

Review 107:Has an odd old smell in lodge but got use to it Was a bit worried when I went to toilet frosted glass and when light was on surely you could see silhouette needed a blind. No phone in room.

Review 108:Lovely friendly welcoming staff The room was large and very clean Bed linen and towels excellent Breakfast very nice and again smiley staff.Good Wifi and bed comfy.Large carpark

Review 109:Unable to use en suite shower / bath , cold water not working onmixer tap, shower and bath water dangerously HOT!,also room extremelywarm. Complained to receptionist who admitted they knew of the problemand would speak to owner about a rate reduction for me and would contactme later that day...still waiting!. Breakfast very disappointing, haveeaten better in corner cafe, definitely not hotel standard.

Review 110:Staff quite friendly and good location for Burton Town Centre

Review 111:General tired state of hotel. Dirty nets, stained carpets, damaged old wallpaper. Cracked window panes etc. Divan frayed and stained. Tepid water in first room so we were upgraded and moved to another room after 1 night. Poor quality produce served for breakfast-cheap and tasteless.

Review 112:Staff were pleasant and helpful. Bathrooms were clean.

Review 113:Breakfast was finished before end time. We were served burnt toast with unpalatable eggs. Would recommend getting room only rate and breakfast in the Wetherspoons down the road.

Review 114:Walking distance from the town. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 115:The cooked breakfast left a bit to be desired with over cooked eggs that were rubbery with the hard yolks fallen out of the white. Inedible, unfortunately.

Review 116:The lovely Victoria Suite was spacious and well appointed with a bedroom area, lounge area, a TV in each area and large ensuite bathroom. Very nice.

Review 117:The rooms were smaller than expected although we did get upgraded as we had no hot water. The rooms were a little tired looking

Review 118:The night porter was really friendly and very helpful

Review 119:a nice easy going hotel 10 minutes walk to town centre . I stayed in the extra building so it was nice and quiet . the room was excellent with everything you could want and a good breakfast and car park .

Review 120:Reception staff could have been more welcoming. This is the first impression of any hotel and it could have been a lot better. The décor of rooms and communal areas were very dated and tired.

Review 121:Breakfast - traditional rather than buffet. Just the right quantity and cooked to perfection. Breakfast room staff very friendly and efficient

Review 122:Usually the breakfast is really nice, this time it was smaller, overlooked and just warm. It is the first time in many stays that we haven't enjoyed breakfast .....an 'off' day perhaps?

Review 123:As always the staff are lovely and go that extra mile.

Review 124:At night there seemed to be a washing machine running somewhere. Just a background noise, but could have done without it.

Review 125:Breakfast, properly cooked. Room comfy.

Review 126:Typical single room in an older hotel - quite small, (but everything I needed for a single night stay)

Review 127:Central location (near Brewery Centre) with restaurants near by. Parking available! Very good price with a decent breakfast.

Review 128:wasn't much to do in the area and the shops were not great.

Review 129:walking in you see beautiful stained window and space. the lady's at the desk were happy to help us and greeted us with a warm friendly smile which after a long journey was a pleasure to see. The location had some great old buildings perfect for people interested in them and photograph. It's town centre was not far away and easy to find. A surprisingly taxies in the area were very cheap.

Review 130:Adjacent busy roads were noisy, which is about par for hotels in Burtin, but not helped by broken window catch.

Review 131:Large, clean room with comfortable bed.

Review 132:Unfortunately shower thermostat was a bit temperamental. Reported it to main desk and it was put on fix list right away. Also could have done with a shelf or a cupboard to put toiletries on.

Review 133:Size of the room ,very large and comfortable Clean and tidy with plenty of storage space for clothes and suitcases. Good size toilet and shower room. The hotel had plenty of character ,the staff were very helpful and the ceiling in the reception area was very impressive

Review 134:The only negative I would say is that the Bathroom was extremely small. But it did all work properly.

Review 135:Reception was good, quick and carried out with a smile. Everything was clean. It was exactly what I expected from a cheap older stile hotel.

Review 136:Bath sealant was cracked and had mould in some spots - ew! Automatic sensor light kept turning off whilst taking a bath. Breakfast was really nasty and the young bloke clearing dishes sighed or groaned loudly with every single task. Cheer up buddy! :)

Review 137:The room was really comfortable and larger than I expected. The bed was just amazing, I wanted to take it home with me! Nice tea and bickies, good telly, spotlessly clean (except for in drawers), very quiet night with zero disturbances.

Review 138:this is where the hotel lets its self down, the restaranunt. went in for a meal on the saturday, only people in there, i can see why, only a young lad on to serve us, done his best. The pizza was partually cooked, from frozen, just was not a good meal

Review 139:nice big clean rooom, lovely breakfast

Review 140:The air conditioning didn't work but a fan was thoughtfully provided. The room was a bit dated but this didn't matter as it was quite homely

Review 141:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and bed were very comfortable. The hotel was easy to find and convenient for the Town Centre. The booking in and out process was quick and straightforward The food was well prepared.
