Reviews for The White Hart Hotel
Review 1:The room was desperately in need of an upgrade the decor was dated and worn as was the bathroom and bed was uncomfortable. When we went down to eat in the bar we were informed only then that it was closed for a family party luckily there were other restaurants in the vicinity but by then many were booked up the hotel didn’t offer any help with recommendations or booking.
Review 2:The location was good in the centre of Hayle and near to restaurants
Review 3:Didn't like sharing a breakfast table with poeple I didn't know when there was empty tables which could have been used
Review 4:I liked the room I stayed and the staff was polite and made you feel welcome
Review 5:Welcome not exactly "warm", waitress at breakfast was down at mouth at best, miserable to say the least. She huffed and puffed at our request for some more toast like it was too much effort. Not a great ambassador for the hotel
Review 6:Loved the location, just what we were looking for. Our gluten free food request was not a problem, even though we forgot to mention it on booking and the hotel only had 48 hrs notice of our requirements.
Review 7:The place was far from what we expected. We had originally booked to stay for two nights, but after the noise of the first night, and a scheduled Live Music evening for the second night, we decided to leave. I found it strange that I was not asked as to why we were leaving so soon.
Review 8:There was nothing at all to like about this place.
Review 9:The Breakfast was a challenge for me as I am a veggie, They offered to serve just the eggs and beans (of the Full english) but wouldn't serve veggie sausages or other alternatives. Seemed strange as they are normally not a problem at most establishments.
Review 10:Great location, lovely room and a plus as the bar was lovely too!
Review 11:We didn't have bad experiences at all. But I think the family rooms located at the back of the hotel are in a desperate need of rejuvenation to say the least.
Review 12:The location of the hotel was the best considering the fact that the hotel stands right in the middle of a road junction and parking was a bonus, too. We managed to get a parking space every day for 5 days in the hotel car park which wasn't very big. We were met by friendly staff and in particular Liz( I think this was her name) a lady that served us breakfast in the morning.
Review 13:Location - close to bus stop for travelling to St Ives & bus service was reasonable. Receptionist & bar staff very helpful especially arranging taxi to airport on leaving.
Review 14:Not your fault, but the noise from the road outside my room meant I didn't sleep well. Otherwise, location is very good, but you do need earplugs if you're on the main road side. Couldn't lock my room from outside although tried hard several times.
Review 15:Very pleasant staff, excellent breakfast.
Review 16:Negative points are; Internally shabby and in need of refurbishment downstairs. Stayed in courtyard room so dont know if main building bedrooms were better or worse than main reception rooms. You preorder breakfast the previous day via a sheet and nominate your dining time so cant choose on the day. Breakfast is on shared dining tables and space is v. tight around and between tables. Limited car parking on site.
Review 17:Good value short stay. Single room booked.Room 18 was 1st floor room in courtyard buildings. Room was clean, spacious, lovely shower room and comfy double bed.Ample storage space. V good location for Bird of Paradise - just round corner. Only a few miles in either direction to St Ives or Penzance. Staff are friendly and locals too (saw some locals help some elderly guests with their luggage up to their rooms). Good 'English' breakfast choice.
Review 18:Karaoke noise from bar (below us) till early hours. No privacy glass on bathroom window TV didn't work properly. When we informed the woman at the desk, she shrugged her shoulders and said that it's probably the signal, and left it at that. After traveling all day, we just wanted to be in the room and to relax. Did not happen as hoped!
Review 19:Comfy bed
Review 20:From the moment we arrived staff were friendly and couldn't do more for us as we arrived late and still cooked us dinner Breakfast was great, I would return again
Review 21:Given an annexe room despite requesting a hotel one. Room freezing due to torrential rain. Heating did not work and no-one to fix it. Tiny t.v. located up in the corner of the room. Shower did not work and had mildew all around it.
Review 22:Struggling with this, the hotel itself was quite charming.
Review 23:The mattress was dipped at one side and really uncomfortable but my mums room in the actual hotel itself was comfortable!
Review 24:The friendly staff and lovely breakfast, the quality of the rooms
Review 25:Shower was slow and not hot. Breakfast was average and coffee was instant. The breakfast room was cluttered and not very clean.
Review 26:The bed was comfortable
Review 27:We both thought that the breakfast staff were very rude sometimes, you have to fill in a breakfast request form for the next morning, and a lot of the time you never got what you asked for. We also thought that the breakfast staff were very rude sometimes, you have to find you room number on the tables, and sometimes they wasn't there, when you ask them they would turn round and say just sit anywhere, and then moan that you was on the wrong table.
Review 28:The parking was good, it was a first come basis, but the place was full and we had no bother in parking every night.
Review 29:Room shabby and worn out. Bathroom old, cracked floor tiles, shower screen broken. Desparately in need of steam clean around taps.Bed exceptionly low to floor. Lamp loose and wonky. No lightbulb in one lamp. No Fridge as discribed in the booking room information.Told there was parking, which was difficult, as the Hotel carpark is very small courtyard. Not enough spaces for Patrons!
Review 30:Location.
Review 31:The bathroom smelt of damp, the shower screen was broken, the shower only just worked (low water pressure) the Saniflow toilet has 'stains' on it and the floor seemed dirty when we arrived. The cooked breakfast wasn't up to much, and the opinion was a full English, eggs and toast or cereal. You had to book your full English the night before like you do in hospital. And I've had better breakfast choice in a hospital.
Review 32:The bedroom was large and clean
Review 33:Lovely staff. Took the time to ring to discuss a room upgrade which was brilliant with my company stay. Bartender on check in was extremely friendly. Everyone is really lovely here.
Review 34:Nothing
Review 35:Well welcomed on arrival by staff, the hotel was central to all the locations we were to visit. All emanates at the establishment were welcomed had a great stay.
Review 36:Shower was a bit hit and miss Didn't experience the resident ghost
Review 37:Room was clean and comfortable and there was a good choice of breakfast cooked fresh and to order. Staff were pleasant and helpful
Review 38:I asked for posched eggs for breakfast, not drained enough so plate had water in it for the rest of my breakfast to swim in. Most important, travel cot given free of charge but discovered upon arrival no matress instead a folded duvet. Deadly to an infant, espec under 6months. Not at all suitable & should not be offered.
Review 39:clean & has a free car park, great location for Hayle beaches.
Review 40:Some of the staff were a bit rude. Did not think much of the area. Seemed to base themselves around the pub and not the hotel there was nowhere to sit and relax without being in the pub which had restricted seating.
Review 41:The size of the room. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Review 42:Very poor WIFI signal in the room. Musty carpets need changing.
Review 43:Location - near the beaches, train station and high street. Quiet room and good breakfast.
Review 44:WIFI worked only in the bar or breakfast room. Family called to see us and the only area to entertain them was the bar where a noisy game of pool was going on.
Review 45:We were accommodated in a ground floor unit for disabled people which suited us but was rather tight around the bed. breakfast served in charming olde worlde room.
Review 46:Rooms very tired! Very noisy from early traffic! And whilst our room had plenty of hot water, our friends who had a room next door, only had a trickle of water from their shower & it wasn't hot.
Review 47:Breakfast was ok.
Review 48:We like staff and the breakfast, we were disappointed that we told no parking!we paid out for other parking because your site says there isn't any. Then told on arrival there was parking. The shower was pathetic it dribbled out. To be honest we would rather pay extra and have parking and hot shower.
Review 49:Lack of parking and having to run across to the public car park before 8am to feed the meter. However I managed to find a space on the road for free unlimited parking on the second day, so not too bad.
Review 50:The Welcome I received from the team was excellent. The bus stop was just outside, with buses to Truro or St Ives running every 30 minutes. It was much easier that trying to park in st Ives.
Review 51:It a definatley a talking point between guests " what painting do you have in your room," there is a vast mixture of art which follow you around it's not a bad thing if you like portraits!
Review 52:The staff were very friendly along with the locals at the bar, we were attending a wedding three miles away so the location was great for somewhere to sleep and get ready which suited our needs.
Review 53:WiFi connection although it was available was extremely poor. Breakfast served was quite average..
Review 54:What I liked most about White Hart Hotel is its character. Friendly staff and a very clean room made our staying pleasant and comfortable.
Review 55:The staff made us most welcome and bar prices were very reasonable. The room was huge. Friday night karaoke was a hoot. Elvis is alive at the White Hart
Review 56:Had wifi which was on and off, but locals say most of Hayle has poor reception.
Review 57:Freindly staff and locals. Easy to get taxi to St.ives. Comfortable and clean.
Review 58:The hotel is really outdated in a bad way mind. Also the smell is appalling, the bed mattress was old and springy. The breakfast was terrible and the overall cost of £80 a night was a complete ripoff. To the point we left a day early. Never again
Review 59:Location is good.
Review 60:Apart from a weird "resident" in number 19 causing a scene 2 nights in a row there was nothing I disliked about the hotel
Review 61:Lovely, comfortable rooms in the courtyard, great value for money. Great location in the centre of Hayle.
Review 62:Brown water from all hot taps, poor evening meal, traffic outside noisy all night, plumbing didn't function on bidet, not value for money
Review 63:Staff we're friendly ,beer was good, really good poached eggs for breakfast
Review 64:Breakfast was poor, cheap ingredients and not that well cooked. room was a little cold, no heating
Review 65:Staff were so friendly, really made the stay enjoyable. Room was spacious and clean
Review 66:For the price, everything was ok.
Review 67:The hotel is FULL of character from the many portrait paintings to the high ceilings and wonky doorframes, this is NOT like a bland hotel chain its a wonderful old place with many stories the walls could tell you if they could speak. The age of this place means that you shouldn't expect everything to be perfect but its a good price so enjoy the uniqueness of the experience! The hotel looks out onto the roundabout and railway and is noisy during the day but not like "city" noisy, and it was almost silent at night. It's a short drive into St Ives about 10 minutes. NYE in St Ives is a big fancy dress party, which is great fun. There is a small free car park and alternative free parking nearby, and a pay and display car park next door £4.70 per day.
Review 68:The beds. Terrible, soft and spongy. Towels. Paper thin. Decor. Old fashioned and seedy. Food. Microwaved Shower screen. Leaking. Hot water. Rusty brown.
Review 69:Central location. Free limited parking.
Review 70:No wifi in room made life difficult, if it is someone on business, not helped by no mobile phone signal in room. Room was very cold. Dinner finishing at 8.30 is too early. Useful having a desk, but there was no chair to go with it. Bed was too soft.
Review 71:Nice size room.
Review 72:The stairs are rather steep. Some of the art work is of dubious taste!
Review 73:The location is good. Although it is necessary to use a public car park we had no trouble parking. The town is lovely. The hotel has interesting art and furniture. The breakfast was good.
Review 74:Bathroom in need of attention as tiles lifting due to leaking shower. Main hotel building in need of refurbishment, carpets quite dirty and greasy kitchen smells evident in the air.
Review 75:Bedroom was nice
Review 76:Very limited car parking facilities...first come first served. Very hot bedroom...but we did have a September heatwave...but table fan made available.
Review 77:Friendliness Central position Excellent food at good prices ( must try the baked fish...amazing) Good Wi Fi reception even in our top floor bedroom
Review 78:Breakfast had to be pre ordered the night before, should really get better quality sausages pretty awful. No fruit or yogurts just cereal if you didn't want cooked breakfast. There wasn't a hairdryer or trouser press in rooms and there were only three coat hangers {one wire}.
Review 79:The room was pleasant, we stayed in the annex which was good because there were no stairs to climb.Tea & coffee facilities and the room was clean. On Friday and Saturday there was entertainment in the hotel which was very good.
Review 80:Loved the history of the hotel and all the original artwork in the bedrooms, corridors and dining room. All very quirky :-) Good position too near the beach and shops. Good food and superb full English breakfast and great range of beers. Karaoke entertainment on the Friday night - good fun!
Review 81:Occasional noise from the bar and traffic was a minor issue. Also not keen on sharing a table with other couples at breakfast. Breakfast was good in terms of food, but the service was slow at times.
Review 82:The room was of a good size and was well decorated and felt special from the moment you entered. The location was perfect and the hotel is a great base to explore Cornwall.
Review 83:I like to have a small amount of air coming into the bedroom overnight, but was unable to open the window.
Review 84:Close to railway station, spar shop and bank with ATM. Friendly staff and large breakfast. I was upgraded from a twin bed to a double.
Review 85:Extremely basic accommodation, and noise throughout the night especially if you are unlucky enough to occupy a room above the bar area-or near one of the exit doors. Wouldn't return or recommend if they paid me!
Review 86:Hotel was close to transport to St Ives
Review 87:The slamming of doors early in the morning, it wasn't just the once it was regular occurance over a space of a couple hours every morning. Also may the staff work on their local knowledge so they can recommend nice places to eat that accept dogs.
Review 88:The staff were very friendly and welcoming, they always greeted you with a smile. The room was lovely, with quirky decor and spacious. We had the facilities we needed and we were particularly impressed with the mini fridge.
Review 89:Parking was limited but not too bad.
Review 90:Having read some poor reviews we were concerned but need not have been. Landlady was very friendly & helpful, as were all staff; our room was fresh, clean & quiet. Breakfast was fairly basic but ok, which is all we expected in a 3* place. The bar area was a bit dingy but very clean. Bus stop right outside.
Review 91:English breakfast was average A bit like Faulty Towers when they were really busy. Could have been a bit more on the plate and by the time toast arrived the fried breakfast was cold. It was not served up on warm plates either.
Review 92:The room was very good The hotel clean
Review 93:A very convenient night-stop after leaving the Penzance Ferry and heading Northwards, plus an excellent Italian Restaurant for Dinner just across the road.
Review 94:Food was average wished I had eaten elsewhere
Review 95:Very friendly staff. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good but felt uncomfortable sharing breakfast table with people from 2 other rooms
Review 96:If you are looking for budget level facilities then this could fit the bill. May be useful for commercial stays and last minute, no choice but I would not recommend.
Review 97:Old fashioned taps in a sink with almost boiling water in a hot one,
Review 98:Beautiful pictures and portaits on the walls, spacious and comfortable rooms, cleanliness and very polite staff, at least 50 years old radio in a room - it complete al of it's style and brings you back in time
Review 99:That was such a good place Cornwall ,If I will go back to Cornwall obviously I will go back there again,clean,quit,100% comfort night with the great location .!!!!
Review 100:Room had sliding sash window which needs some maintenance --cleaning of paintwork and sliding mech needs rebalancing. The en suite window could not be opened.Windows are not double glazed so traffic noise is high.
Review 101:Staff very helpful
Review 102:Starting to look a bit shabby could do with a bit of paint but loved the quirky decor otherwise.
Review 103:The staff at the establishment were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. Slept like a log very comfortable bed.
Review 104:Nabours out side window with two young children till 1.45 am . w got little sleep and the car was blocked in parking a problem at night.
Review 105:Type of outside accommodation
Review 106:breakfast was a bit dis-organised and would have benefited from selection of fresh fruit and yogurts
Review 107:room very clean and very comfortable. stayed in small courtyard so it was also nice and quiet, good food and reasonable prices
Review 108:Wi-fi is inadequate with limited range Scary dated paintings Dated decor Bathroom extractor did not work Live band playing on arrival Had to collect keys from bar whilst local drunks leered at the females in my party
Review 109:we were missing wider choice of meal during breakfast, but that is not big trouble
Review 110:very good place to spend vacations, the beach is not far away, bus and train stops are very close, friendly staff, good and clean facilities,
Review 111:The music until 1 am that you could feel. The water system that sounds like a bomb going off every time someone used water. The slimey carpets. The tiny double bed. The staff. Pretty much everything.
Review 112:Room was very hot with no fan or a/c Room was not vacuum cleaned for 7 days Grumpy staff at breakfast time - a smile costs nothing but makes the start of the day a nicer place! Not really a Hotel, more of a drinking pub with some rooms. Drunken men using foul language in bar pretty much all day.
Review 113:Nothing that warranted talking about
Review 114:If you had a small problem or request, it was dealt with a smile on their faces, and nothing was too much trouble to get it sorted
Review 115:Being at the crux of a few roads its a bit noisy in the evening/night, so if your a light sleeper and go during the summer (and so need the window open) you may find difficulty sleeping at night.
Review 116:Clean, tidy and the breakfast was fine.
Review 117:All fine
Review 118:Breakfasts were very good, hot, and very tasty and well cooked. Service was excellent. Rooms are traditional and suitable for purpose. Beds comfy and cosy. A small detail from our last visit was responsively addressed. Thank you. (Don't mention the fish!)
Review 119:New beds are needed as a matter of urgency. When the mattresses curl upwards it should be obvious to the management. I would recommend the hotel as a short stay for its location and friendliness if the management replaced the beds !
Review 120:Staff were very approachable and friendly and the cooked breakfast was of a high quality
Review 121:Bath needed a good clean around plug and overflow, no curtains in bathroom. Breakfast lukewarm and greasy.
Review 122:very nice airy room with comfy bed. Easy access toall facilities in area. prompt friendly checkin at bar.
Review 123:They told me the hotel was haunted
Review 124:WI-fi bad area
Review 125:Friendly staff excellent breakfast
Review 126:The room was very good
Review 127:Did not like the breakfast, felt that they let themselves down badly here.
Review 128:Liked the town and the coast
Review 129:Historic building with interesting period paintings, posters & artefacts
Review 130:A very generous home styled delicious dinner was enjoyed by all in the restaurant
Review 131:thought the hotel looked really tired
Review 132:the fact that you could take your dog
Review 133:The hotel is modest (no frills) but is value for money.
Review 134:Clean hotel and very helpful & friendly staff.
