Reviews for The Old Registry

Review 1:we are senior citizens and we were in the lavender room which was very nice and comfortable ...but it is in the attic. That means a lot of stairs which both of us found very difficult. If we had realized this we would not have booked this property.

Review 2:Beautiful area, friendly and helpful staff and excellent evening meal.

Review 3:There were a few niggles. There was a bulb missing in one of the bedside lights, our shower wasn't great and we had to wait ages for our breakfast.

Review 4:We know the Old Registry well having eaten there - and loved it - on several occasions. Our room in the eves was charming and the staff, as ever, are welcoming and friendly.

Review 5:The shower was a little awkward and sloping ceiling again was a little awkward but you have to accept that it is an original historical building

Review 6:Leanne and Peter have worked extremely hard to build this business and achieved it very successfully, friendly informal but exacting standards of customer service

Review 7:Absolutely beautiful with excellent views, quaint rooms and an excellent evening meal menu in a lovely dining room. Food was excellent and staff were so friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Definitely recommended.

Review 8:We had the Cherubs room and although the room was small compared to other rooms we had stayed in, we expected this and this did not detract from our experience. However the bathroom attached to this room was not very comfortable - the sloping ceilings made it cramped and difficult to walk about. Shower was also small and water pressure was not good

Review 9:We love Haworth and this is definitely the best B and B in the village in our opinion. Very comfortable and with a lovely restaurant attached.

Review 10:Being over 6'0" the bed was on the short side and resulted in an uncomfortable two nights! The attic room was a bit limited in headroom.

Review 11:The staff were really friendly & helpful and the restaurant was first class.

Review 12:The only complaint was the mattress. We had the star bedroom, "The Memories Room" which was so lovely but there were two mattresses on top of each other which made it too soft and not really that comfortable.

Review 13:Absolutely everything! The staff are just lovely, the actual place so quirky and the food is outstanding!

Review 14:There was a slight drain smell during our stay which we mentioned to management

Review 15:The meal we had on the evening was excellent, service was great and the breakfast was lovely too. Lovely location.

Review 16:I loved the friendliness of all staff, superb food (breakfast and evening meal), up-grade offered free of charge to a room with a four-poster bed which was superbly comfortable.. Can't wait to go again!

Review 17:we stayed at this hotel around 5 yrs ago but its not as nice anymore the bedroom was shabby with a need to decorate and small details had changed which made it stand before

Review 18:the breakfast was nice

Review 19:Would have been nice to have a Bar or lounge but didn't spoil our stay as there were plenty of good pubs within easy walking distance.

Review 20:Everything,great food, friendly and welcoming staff. Relaxed atmosphere. A home from home vibe.

Review 21:Accommodating staff, quirky place in a great location, right in the heart of Haworth. Ideal for touring West Yorkshire. Can recommend visiting Malham and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Review 22:Being tall in a third floor room with sloping room was hard, would ask for second floor if we revisit .

Review 23:Breakfast, staff, location, size of room, large bathroom with large tuub, room furniture very nice and bed was real comfortable

Review 24:Very welcoming informative greet. Our room overlooked the cobbled street which took me back to my childhood. Lots of variety for breakfast with staff who were very attentive.

Review 25:Wonderful olde worldly, hotel, very comfortable room with great bathroom. Food was superb too. Location absolutely perfect for exploring Haworth (right on the main street at the bottom of the hill).

Review 26:We were in a lop floor room with no lift BUT the staff happily took our luggage up so it was a worthwhile stay

Review 27:Beautifully placed in Haworth, pretty location and friendly staff and good food

Review 28:Wifi very slow, disgusting coffee in the room (personal choice), sometimes difficult to locate staff, but they are fabulous. None of the above would put me off staying again.

Review 29:Real treat to have breakfast in bed, food was outstanding. Cleanest place I have ever stayed, and beautiful room. Superb views from skylight, will definitely stay again!

Review 30:The owners/managers were just lovely, most obliging and helpful. We cannot praise them enough. (2 delightful children too) The food was superb and such large (Yorkshire) portions. The bar and dining room ambiance was lovely and so special; much thought goes into everything they do.

Review 31:Fantastic breakfast! We arrived late (after midnight - we got caught in traffic, and then lost our way journeying up from London! Staff member there who helped us to find them, even though we arrived at 12:30am!! Loved the room...

Review 32:The food was delicious. We had dinner as well as breakfast and it was very good. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The location couldn't have been better for our purposes.

Review 33:Only a minor issue with the bathroom door not being easy to close.

Review 34:As this was a special birthday celebration we were delighted to be staying in the Memories room, such lovely decor and an amazingly comfortable bed?The staff were excellent and very friendly. Delicious food with a varied menu.

Review 35:we were in an attic room and although everything was clean we found that we had t be carefull not to bang our heads.

Review 36:the food was very good especially the restaurant in the evening.

Review 37:The memories bedroom was so dark even with the light on difficult to read at night. After we left noticed car parking of £6 had been charged. We had parked on a public road for 3 days and hadn't moved the car. Weren't asked if we had used parking facilities in the nearby pub.We are OAPs and would have been nice to have had help with our cases up the two flights of stairs.

Review 38:good location, nice size bathroom

Review 39:The secret garden room was lovely. We had a 4 poster bed, lovely large bath with separate toilet and great views. The decor was fantastic and I loved the old bottles and pictures. The food is the restaurant was superb. They have delectable homemade ice-cream for dessert.

Review 40:Bed a little too soft for my old back, but beautiful room.

Review 41:Perfect Location to explore old Haworth, the Bronte Pasronage and the moors. Excellent friendly staff and a typical Yorkshire breakfast. ie. Too much for me

Review 42:Towels not even being hung up in bathroom after cleaning. Having to ask for bottled water and a little lack of friendliness. Celebrating anniversary and birhday and maybe a little touch of something at least a comment would be nice when paying for luxury rooms. Would stay again but a little disappointing

Review 43:Fantastic location. Ease of parking at old hall. Peaceful. Clean. Breakfast lady on first morning was fab. Tuesday . Nicest staff member.

Review 44:Slightly overpriced for the room standard but paying for the location, I suppose.

Review 45:Food at breakfast and the evening meal excellent.Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 46:matress was very soft would have liked firmer one

Review 47:the décor the food the friendly atmosphere our problem with the hot water was dealt with immediately

Review 48:Didn't like the room. Pears room. Other rooms looked nicer. The room was too small it was an attic type room. Nice view though!

Review 49:The view from the window.breakfast was nice.

Review 50:Rooms a little dated but dont let that put you off - overall very good - and make sure you are booked into the restaurant!

Review 51:Excellent restaurant and ideally located

Review 52:Was not a four poster bed as advertised the room was shabby and in need of a good clean and update no iPod and dab unit as advertised and I feel it was over priced for the room and facilities that it had and charged for parking !!!!!!

Review 53:Location and setting

Review 54:We had a vey unpleasant experience on our arrival into the town, with a parking fine being issued, even though my husband had stayed with the car while I went for change. The park outside the Wool Mills had an inspector who used "bullying tactics" and left us feeling like we had been robbed. It was a very unpleasant experience. We have written to the authorities to inform them, but a month has passed without reply.

Review 55:Lovely town, good views, supportive staff.

Review 56:bathroom a little awkward with reduced headroom and shower not completely clean - mold in the corners

Review 57:Staff very helpful and friendly Breakfast very good Dinner very good

Review 58:When the room was cleaned it appeared that the bathroom had not been as this was exactly as we had left it prior to going out for the day which was disappointing. We would have also preferred a front facing room rather than an attic room.

Review 59:The breakfast & evening meal was beautiful.

Review 60:Excellent position for seeing all that Haworth and the surrounding area has to offer. Lovely friendly staff, really good food and comfortable well furnished bedroom.

Review 61:Nothing.

Review 62:Excellent cosy place to stay. Room was very comfortable and decor outstanding. Breakfast room was great and authentic. Lovely cooked breakfast with locally sourced food. I didn't stop for a meal as was fully booked, but looked top class. Will be back.

Review 63:No issues, very enjoyable stay.

Review 64:The room with 4 poster bed was very comfortable and in keeping with the "vintage" feel of the whole hotel. Super view across the valley, no need to draw curtains. Breakfast was outstanding, locally sourced products, and we enjoyed an excellent birthday dinner - very helpful with dietary issues and prepared lactose-free dishes.

Review 65:A lack of seating area outside of the restaurants. There were only two low quite uncomfortable dining chairs in the bedroom, no other public seating or bar area...so either laying on your bed...or out!

Review 66:Very friendly and welcoming.

Review 67:Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome. The location is perfect - right on the high street. Stunning views nearby. The property is filled with interesting trinkets.

Review 68:The blind in our room (The Pear Room) didn't really keep much light out in the early morning. Could do with a proper black-out blind.

Review 69:Lovely welcome and very attentive and helpful staff.

Review 70:Thought the place could do with a little up dating. The radiator was not very secure. One of the drawers had a handle missing.wallpaper had patches torn off. The toilet was very noisy. The Wi-Fi was very slow. Breakfast was cooked lovely although the wait was very very long. About half hour.

Review 71:The staff were very welcoming

Review 72:Although at first glance the rooms looked periodic and grand, on closer inspection it was a little tired. The mattress was too soft for our liking, the room was very hot and the traffic from our room kept me awake so neither myself or partner slept particularly well. There was also a slightly unpleasant smell in the bathroom, damp perhaps, and we were conscious of keeping the closed.

Review 73:The staff were friendly and accommodated all of our needs. We requested breakfast in our room and it did not disappoint! Lovely. The four poster bed was a novelty and the location of the hotel was perfect. We ate here in the evening and overall, the food was very good.

Review 74:There was nothing to dislike. Not sure if they had wifi but I was on holiday and didn't pursue it.

Review 75:Quaint, clean and lovely laid out rooms. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was a great start to the day. Given the nature of Haworth, parking could have been an issue but permitted parking was literally a minutes walk away and staff were excellent with their advice.

Review 76:Difficulty in getting luggage in and out, no back entrance.

Review 77:Location, breakfast and staff all lovely. Room was v nice and clean. Beautiful view from window.

Review 78:Minor quibble over TV size but this was a very minor complaint. Everything was great

Review 79:Ambiance of Restaurant and the food both fantastic. Lovely 4 Poster Bed and great view over the hills to the houses beyond. Excellent place to stay, we'll be back.

Review 80:top floor room and pointed roof bit claustrophobic. Rain from guttering leaked through bathroom window. Shower over bath and curtain needs re arranging to more modern arrangement.

Review 81:staff and breakfast

Review 82:Only small hairdryer poor in comparison to everything else provided which was excellent. Poached eggs not runny but I should of said.full English fantastic.

Review 83:The room was comfortable and cosy .huge bathroom, great quality bedding and towels, good tv ,and hospitality tray.very warm welcome and excellent service and dinner .

Review 84:A sitting room would have been nice as went with other family members, it's more a restaurant with rooms, but a good one.

Review 85:Friendly family run hotel, nice rooms, evening meals and cooked breakfast very good. Liked the decor. Nice toiletries and good selection of tea in rooms.

Review 86:Not a bad experience but we found the bed(s) could have been more comfortable and as we said, in "Memories" there should be net curtains in the main windows

Review 87:Location, friendliness, helpfulness

Review 88:Comfy room and child friendly hotel. We visited with our 3 yr old grandson in the family room which was spacious well decorated and bright. Breakfast was brill and owners very friendly and welcoming.

Review 89:Very poor bedroom size, height and badly laid out. No on site car parking only available in a pub car park for which we were charged. The evening meal was good but not as good as expected based on write ups. Breakfast was only ok.

Review 90:The staff member on duty when we arrived did look after us very well and attended to every request.

Review 91:Howarth is a beautiful place the old registry is situated at the bottom of the hill and it is very quiet away from the pubs at the top, would stay again, the breakfast was excellent and all served fresh when ordered

Review 92:The accommodation and facilities are excellent. Excellent location for exploring Haworth and for access to the moors. The staff were both friendly and very helpful with any request.

Review 93:Only thing was the wifi was poor on top floor.

Review 94:Amazing food. Lovely decor. Beautiful rooms. Fantastic value for money and customer service. Best B&B I have ever stayed in.

Review 95:The bed was very soft, though not uncomfortable.

Review 96:On the main street of Haworth, this is a comfortable place to stay as a base for lovely walks followed by a soak in a hot bath. The best evening meal we had in Haworth, and delicious local bacon and black pudding for breakfast.

Review 97:Booked as a wedding present for my daughter. Booked the four poster bed but didn't get it! Very disappointed. Whirlpool didn't work. Complained to staff and offered 15 percent discount off next stay (probably wouldn't be going back so a safe offer for them) not great customer service. Room still advertised as double room with four poster but this room doesn't exist so be careful if you are booking for that reason. Only the superior room has the bed!! Very disappointed that you don't get what you actually book.

Review 98:The place was nice.

Review 99:The room we had we couldn't stand up in the bathroom, and shower was so small could hardly turn around..

Review 100:Great food and staff lovely room and great location.

Review 101:Decor in bedroom/ensuite was very tasteful, but a little bit tired.

Review 102:Bedrooms all individually styled, lovely warm and cosy restaurant with friendly staff. Situated on Haworth Main St,.

Review 103:Unfortunately the bathroom let it down hugely. We stayed in "Pears", up in the rafters. The shower was pretty terrible, weak spray and kept alternately scalding and freezing us. There was an undeniable, if slight, smell of "drains" in the bathroom most of the time we were there.

Review 104:Staff - brilliant and charming. The location, right in the heart of things, but quiet. Wonderful food in lovely rooms. Amazingly comfy and elegant bed.

Review 105:In no way a bad experience but I wish we had booked a room with a king size bed - we certainly will do next time we visit. A bit too small and too soft a mattress for us - but absolutely didn't detract from the weekend .

Review 106:The whole experience was great from start to finish. The welcome and service was friendly and informal - proprietors and staff couldn't do enough for us. The food and drink was absolutely excellent and the facilitates top notch.

Review 107:The hot water ran cold on the two occasions I tried to have a bath, also the spa bath didn't work, room was lovely however web site shows a four poster bed however it is just a double bed.

Review 108:Location, room, breakfast and staff.

Review 109:Room was lovely just we was in the attic and we kept bumping our heads on the roof

Review 110:The food was absolutely gorgeous best breakfast i had had in an hotel evening meal was wonderful too

Review 111:The bed was very soft and much smaller than ours at home so didn't sleep very well. Also there was not enough hot water for both of us to have a bath - which we wanted to do after a walking on the moors!

Review 112:Very relaxed hotel. Lovely old building. Warm atmosphere. Great breakfast and evening meal. Lots of other places to eat close by. Room very nice. Palatial bathroom

Review 113:Only slight observation if I was being ultra picky was the Lilac room which is in the attic could do with a little Tlc and the 40 minutes wait for our cooked breakfast.

Review 114:The staff The food inc evening meal and Yourkshire Breakfast The quirkiess of the Guest hotel Location Lovely fluffy towels

Review 115:The pillows in our room were quite thin and hard but still had quite decent nights sleep. The breakfast was average but only because the beans were cold, there was no black pudding and the only option was to have a fried egg. I'm more than sure these small points could be rectified easily but we feel the price we paid was fair for the stay.

Review 116:We really liked the location and the Registry itself was a nice place to stay. Parking was cheap and very close. We stayed in the Lilac Room and the view out of the skylight was great.

Review 117:Couple of bits broken in the room (no kettle, light bulbs, lamp shades) but the overall quality and value meant we didn't mind too much!

Review 118:Location, food in restaurant, value for money, excellent breakfast.

Review 119:The available parking at howarth hall was unavailable as the driveway was not salted previous to snowfall. I was told promptly by the hall staff that it was my problem. Staff at fleece equally unfriendly as we were pushed off a table which did not have a reserved label on it only to give it to some snobby upperclass people. Decided to finish our drinks and spend our money on our lunch at the black bull where the staff were very accomidating and the food was lovely.

Review 120:Hotel room food and staff. Beautiful village

Review 121:Our bed had a solid footrest which restricted my comfort. T.V. remote batteries were dead.

Review 122:The room looked out over the main street, and the village Christmas tree.

Review 123:Jacuzzi didn't work - could be me? Shower pressure very poor

Review 124:Quaint rooms Bed very comfy Nice decor Warm room Great bar / eating area Fantastic location

Review 125:Love Howarth and the old registry. Staff are lovely. Feel that since prices have gone up that they have over priced themselves. The weekend cost us £50 more than it use to.

Review 126:We had a superior room facing the cobbled street which was quiet. Facing the busy road would be less so.

Review 127:Characterful, convenient and reasonably priced. Excellent food for both breakfast and dinner. A distinctive hotel ideally situated for visiting Haworth.

Review 128:Nothing - it was all good!

Review 129:The Old Registry is a lovely old building sited on the picturesque Main St, right in the heart of Haworth. The staff were all very welcoming and the room was comfortable. The food, both breakfast and dinner, in the very pleasant restaurant was excellent and a real high point of our stay.

Review 130:Nothing to not like.

Review 131:Lovely warm welcome on arrival. Stayed in the lilac room in the attic. Nice cosy room lovely bathroom. Ate in the restaurant, food was delicious. Good breakfast.

Review 132:Nothing!

Review 133:The staff are lovely - so friendly and accomodating! Peter and Leanne have a wonderful thing here! The room we stayed in was the Secret Garden and it was beautiful - comfy, warm and clean! Location is perfect. Food in the restaurant is the most yummiest food ever!

Review 134:I couldnt get the WiFi to work on any occasion, but as it wasnt essential during my stay I didnt force the issue.

Review 135:Excellent food in Restuarant (breakfast and dinner), including vegetarian options. Convenient location for exploring Haworth and surrounding areas.
