Reviews for Ivy Guest House

Review 1:After a few days of walking I totally enjoyed my soak in the slipper bath!! Excellent location and Darren is very attentive. Breakfast was scrumptious . Thankyou

Review 2:The location in the centre of the quaint village of Hawkeshead was fabulous. The room was very comfortable with a four poster bed. The size of the bed meant that there was not a great deal of space to walk or sit in, but the use of a comfortable, warm downstairs lounge compensated for this. Some B and Bs seem to discourage consuming your own food or drink, but we were told we could use the lounge for eating in, and the bedroom even had a corkscrew and 2 wine glasses!

Review 3:Would have preferred a room with a walk in shower or stand up shower over bath, but my fault as I should have asked in advance

Review 4:Really friendly owners, spotlessly clean accommodation, fantastic breakfast. Great guest lounge. Would stay again.

Review 5:The plumbing in room 6 was a little noisy at busy times, but I'm guessing there is nothing can be done about that.

Review 6:The welcome and attentiveness of the hosts was warm and sincere. My request for porridge at breakfast was happily met. The room had everything we needed for our two night stay and the bed was huge and very comfortable. The heart of the village was two minutes' walk away which was handy for dining, yet the location was quiet.

Review 7:A little cramped in the en-suit, shower settings sometimes temperamental.

Review 8:Excellent location in a wonderfully traditional lakeland village with easy acces to the surrounding fells and all local bars, eateries and shops..... and first class Full English to start the day!

Review 9:Fantastic hosts, brilliant location, lovely breakfast and the guest house is spotlessly clean. Darren and Roz are lovely people and very very helpful!!

Review 10:Brilliant helpful & friendly staff Very nice little village with very good facilities like coffee shops, pharmacy, supermaket, camping and hiking shops

Review 11:I can believe the water supply has a timer. It let me without water only after 5 minutes of showering!! 100 pounds per person and no water for showing? We complain but there was nothing to do, just wait till water was back. I wait 15 minutes and still nothing! Also, it was impossible to have a good internet connection so we were unable to continue planning our trip!! The excuse here was that the building is very old… very disappointed.

Review 12:The bed was very comfy.

Review 13:Our bedroom was small and the decor is becoming a little tired now. Some investment in modernising would be well worthwhile.

Review 14:location and welcome were excellent. private parking is also useful. Breakfast was one of the best!

Review 15:noise from hot water system during the night - past midnight even! Room a little on the small side.

Review 16:comfortable, clean room; lovely breakfast; lovely host.

Review 17:We loved the homely environment and felt like special house guests. Our room was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable. A full English breakfast was provided in a pleasant dining room. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Darren our host has extensive local knowledge and was able to guide and advise us regarding our daily activities whether by car, foot or local buses. His lovely wife Roz was kind and helpful too.

Review 18:Location excellent. staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. One of the best breakfast I've had. Couldn't fault the ivy guest house one bit.

Review 19:The welcoming hosts; the location; the room; the facilities and the brilliant breakfasts! We both felt so 'at home' and we were treated so very well. We will be going back!

Review 20:I personally prefer a shower to a bath but this was not a major issue and if I return would ask for a room with shower.

Review 21:Extremely pleasant accommodation with lots of nice little touches with the decore , good position, very comfortable bed and very clean. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and the breakfast was first class.

Review 22:Loved this quaint old property right in the centre of Hawkshead which very handily has its own car park. We were given a very friendly welcome by our hosts who were at hand if we needed them but were not too imposing. Breakfasts were fab.

Review 23:The little thoughtful extra touches. The way the room was presented, the chocolates and teddy bears.

Review 24:Beautiful house, beautifully furnished, excellent location

Review 25:Having to leave.....!

Review 26:The facilities were excellent and the welcome and support from Darren and Roz were superb. Our room (No 5) was small but it didn't detract from being well appointed. The lack of a shower was initially surprising but relaxing in a bath was a rare treat!!

Review 27:None!

Review 28:The sheer hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. It all complemented the lovely village of Hawkshead and made us feel very welcome. The owners were extremely caring and competent. Wonderful!

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:We really enjoyed our stay at Ivy Guesthouse. Darren is a great host, passionate about the area and a good source of knowledge. Great full English breakfasts, with vegetarians accommodated. Comfortable bed and a lovely wood burner going for us in the afternoons. Hawkshead itself is a great place to stay. Quiet and peaceful but with a good grocery shop, 4 fine pubs and a number of other smaller cafes and local businesses. Some of the lakes' best views are walkable from the door.

Review 31:Not really a complaint, more a hint for potential visitors, that potential guests should discuss whether they need one of the larger bathrooms before booking as some shower rooms are very tight.

Review 32:Very friendly hosts who were willing to do anything to make our stay as good as it could possibly be. Lovely breakfasts and use of the lounge is great compensation where the bedrooms are smaller.

Review 33:Although our room was comfortable and well appointed, it was a bit on the small size.

Review 34:Location, friendliness of the staff. Clean Comfortable. Excellent Breakfast.

Review 35:The location was right in the middle of Hawkeshead and the four poster bed was right in the middle of the bedroom! Both good locations! The host couldn't do enough for us including advising us to go see the delightful How's Tarn.. A ripper place! The food at one of the local pubs was the best we've experienced in our trip in themUK. This is a super place to stay.

Review 36:Excellent b&b!. Warm welcome from the owner,we were travelling cyclists and nothing was too much trouble, even put his washing line out so we could dry our clothes. Room was fabulous with some really nice touches (chocolates on the bed) Great full english breakfast (bacon the best we have tasted).Have been to Hawkshead many times and this is by far the best b&b.Would recommend to friends and family.

Review 37:Gravel walk way to the car park at the rear and people walked right past our room so it did disturb our sleep as we went to bed at 10:30 after a long day, other than that everything was fine.

Review 38:The staff were friendly and accommodating. Always happy to help and advise. Bed was comfy and room just right for us as we had our dog with us and there was room for her bed too. We only stayed the one night (our adult son had a separate room identical to ours) and his too was clean and comfortable. Food was good although the one drawback was having to choose what you wanted the night before (if you wanted a cooked breakfast). We'd go back there if we're in the area again. Very good!

Review 39:A lovely little guest house with a family atmosphere and friendly staff. In the middle of a beautiful village. Plenty of walking opportunities in all directions.

Review 40:Having to leave.

Review 41:Everything from the warm welcome, to the comfort and location, with off-road parking. Excellent choice for breakfast, and Darren's local knowledge. Our second stay, and I'm sure we will be back despite a 300 mile journey.

Review 42:Room 5, very compact has 4 poster bed, but less than 18 inches either side of it, which for larger people than us, could be difficult.

Review 43:Excellent location, friendly, helpful owner and staff, great breakfast

Review 44:Very clean rooms and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. We left a mobile phone that was sent to us the same day!

Review 45:Every thing. Not one complaint .Lovely location. Beautiful accommodation . Excellent food.
