Reviews for Hathway House
Review 1:Booked in April. No room for us had to use their flat. Place wasn't very clean had to go through sort of dining room and wash room to get to bathroom.
Review 2:Very near airport.
Review 3:As directed by owners, we emailed and then rang to notify them of our arrival time, but were still left outside for at least ten minutes, on a cold and rainy night, waiting for the owner to come and let us in. The room was very basic indeed: Peeling plaster round window; stuffy despite turning radiator off and opening window, and dirty bathroom floor. Hard to sleep due to heat and outside lights. Breakfast offered was inedible pre packed 'Danish pastry' plus boxes of cereal in dingy dining room. I could go on, but overall this was a poor choice of accommodation.
Review 4:Proximity to airport but hard to find, especially at night.
Review 5:Needs better/ more light in room as very tall ceiling! Only real problem was that no one was around (about 4 pm) when I arrived and though phone number was available and answered immediately and there was place for me to go indoors, needs better information on this before arrival.
Review 6:Lovely newly converted 'outhouse' room, comfortable, warm. Loved the idea of complementary breakfast - basic but presented in delightful little dining area. Excellent location for walk to Bristol airport. Staff I met were very pleasant.
Review 7:Extremely small room, but we only stayed one night so it was adequate.
Review 8:walking distance to Bristol International airport. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful proprietor.
Review 9:Location to airport only a few minutes walk - ideal for early morning flights. Double room was small but clean and warm and ideal for an overnight stay.
Review 10:Not great at all. Unfortunately a necessary evil for a cancelled flight. You don't get much for £50 in Bristol these days. The room was small and damp, the bathroom was infested with bluebottles and spiders, water in the shower was stone cold. In future I'll do more research.
Review 11:Within walking distance of the airport
Review 12:There were people moving around outside my room from 5am, I'm guessing to go to the airport, fair enough considering it's location. However, since my flight arrived late the night before I only managed to get a few hours sleep before being disturbed. The tiredness I felt the next day was not worth the low cost of the room unfortunately. In the morning I couldn't get any hot water from the shower, and couldn't find any staff to ask about this. There was a mobile number for emergencies to be fair but I was tired and decided just to get going. My car hardly fitted in the small car park. The property is walking distance from the airport so it would be easier to collect the rental car in the morning.
Review 13:Staff were friendly, ensuite was very clean. There is a basic complimentary breakfast with mini boxes of cereal etc, I didn't eat anything but there was some nice tea which I enjoyed.
Review 14:No food available until breakfast which was only cereal.could have done with some toast.room very compact.
Review 15:Near to airport.Kathryn who greeted us made us feel very welcome.
Review 16:Basic, clean and comfortable - ideal as an overnight stop for an early flight. Free parking and short (10 min) walk to the airport terminal (although a taxi might be preferable with heavy bags)
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:700 m from airport. Male owner cheerful and helpful and pleasant. Good place to stay for early morning flight. Single female traveller and felt relaxed. Pub a cross the road. Paid a little extra for them to keep my car for the weekend
Review 19:Would have loved a hair dryer in the room
Review 20:Absolutely ideal for an overnight stop when flying from Bristol airport. The room was quite small and simply furnished, but was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and it was all very homely. The en suite was small again but very clean and the shower good. There was a modern TV with lots of channels. I was delighted to find (unusually in my experience) a huge quanttity of tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk to go with the kettle and mugs supplied. The room was warm and the owner kindly carried my case up the one flight of stairs.I also had a very warm and friendly welcome. I was advised of the pub opposite for meals and also the opportunity to order a take away. I would definitely use this again.
Review 21:No one to meet us despite advising eta. No response to telephone calls. For international travellers room too small for two people plus suitcases. Bed uncomfortable and narrow staircase to access room.
Review 22:The proprietors have little knowledge of the service industry, and worst, they don't care. When I complained, they were unapologetic and dismissed me as a difficult customer.
Review 23:The proximity to the airport
Review 24:It's not a 5 star hotel and some people might find the car park a bit of a squeeze. But that would be quibbling in my opinion.
Review 25:It took under 10 mins to walk to the airport wheeling a suitcase (tho' not advised at night as pavement is narrow). The cottage is quirky which appeals to me, and our rooms were clean & newly carpeted. The owner was extremely accommodating, letting me leave the car there on the outward journey (even parking it for me!) and picking us up late at night a few days later.
Review 26:Access road very narrow, limited difficult parking, inadequate location sign took 3 attempts to find it. Very noisy as rooms and hallway close together. Take ear plugs!
Review 27:liked the friendliness and helpfulness of owners breakfast more than expected.only stayed 1 night as we were flying next morning will stay there again next year if we have an early flight
Review 28:Don't expect a hearty breakfast. Very basic continental. Cereal and cup of tea.
Review 29:Simple and convenient for an early morning flight. Good value and no need for taxi to airport. Around a 15 minute walk.
Review 30:Dirty, had to kill 3 bugs and a spider within seconds of being in there and there was marks on the wall where previous people had done the same.
Review 31:Close to airport
Review 32:Finding the place was difficult as the entrance was hard to identify. The breakfast facilities were very modest and there was nowhere to fill the kettle.
Review 33:The room was a good size and the staff were very helpful.
Review 34:Nothing to dislike.
Review 35:The guest house is in walking distance from bristol airport. (I am 75yrsyoung ) I always stay here (1 night ) when visiting uk. And I alwaysreceive a warm welcome.
Review 36:The breakfast was not good at all,, we had to wait as the door was locked to the breakfast room, there wasn't anything there to eat and the bread that was there was moldy.
Review 37:Could do with a better sign on the road. We paid £10 for a taxi from the airport - as we were not sure where it was. Didn't make that mistake in the morning!
Review 38:Walking distance to the Airport. Comfortable bed, good quality toiletries provided.
Review 39:Nothing to do with the owner, but £ 20 return taxi fare from airport bit of a rip off,all of two minute journey Sorry that I was not offered breakfast or told about the room.
Review 40:A warm welcome from the owner who explained all facilities,as well as advising on the best place to eat
Review 41:Nothing!
Review 42:Easy booking process, very nice welcome on arrival. Second time we have used this property, basic accommodation but clean, tidy & perfect for the airport (10 min stroll to departures) The addition of a breakfast room is great!
Review 43:Bathroom floor awaiting tiles fitted. Curtains let light in.
Review 44:Excellent host skills.very obliging -picked us up from airport after we were delayed. Quiet stay. Basic room. Good value. Would stay again.
Review 45:a bit expensive for what you get ,
Review 46:it has a roof to keep you dry. it has a bed to rest your head , it is 5 mins walk from Bristol airport , not recommended for a honeymoon !
Review 47:The room was a really small only single but had double bed couldn't move around not even space for case or chair no shelf just bugs all over the walls spent forever eliminating them. Couldnt find anyone to return key phoned both numbers only answer phone ended leaving through next rooms window causing us distress and leaving late
Review 48:We arrived very late at night and Terry was very polite and welcoming! The room was nothing fancy but had everything that we needed at a fantastic price! We didn't expect breakfast but that was provided at no extra cost! Would definitely recommend.
Review 49:It was a very friendly and convenient stop-over for Bristol Airport. I was able to have a shower and be comfortable during my stay.
Review 50:Very friendly welcome, helpful explanations as to the possibilities for supper, proximity to airport (7 mins walk, perfect for early morning flight), lovely hot shower and clean bathroom. Simple, clean accommodation. I would come back.
Review 51:I suppose it was poor luck but we couldn't get the hot water to work for a shower! Having to leave at 4.30am we didn't get to ask for assistance or to tell anyone.
Review 52:Very convenient for an early flight! We were in room number 5 which is like a small cabin, lovely. The person who welcomed us (Catherine, I believe) was very nice and helpful at our arrival.
Review 53:Bed was sooo comfy, location amazing-saved us money for taxi (5 minutes walk from the airport) and the owner could not be any friendlier!!! We were really delighted!!! Cosy feel to the place, perfect for an early morning flight!! Will stay there again!!!
Review 54:Right by airport so should be used to early risers but not much in way of breakfast. Butter had run out, no tea and coffee facilities in the dining area and no toaster to make toast or warm croissants. Not much of a selection of cereals.
Review 55:The girl we dealt with on the desk was lovely and really helpful, asking us anything she could do to help us out. We left very early to catch a flight and she was happy to prepare us breakfast even though it was about 5 in the morning, Went the extra mile to make our short stay as good as possible. Was a benefit to be able to leave the car there while we went on holiday for a cheaper price than airport parking as well.
Review 56:The only dislike was the thinness of the bedroom walls. You could hear guests opening their doors and having conversations inside the rooms.
Review 57:Accommodation is convenient to the airport with a 10 minute stroll to the airport checkin desks.
Review 58:The light in the bathroom didn't work, shower head was falling off the shower (although it did work) and the room was full of insects dead and alive.
Review 59:Comfy bed
Review 60:Room was basic and the sheets a little scratchy and shabby. It's a shame they don't offer an airport shuttle like the other places in the area do.
Review 61:Host was very friendly despite the fact that I arrived in the middle of the night! Room was very clean.
Review 62:The other staff were getting into a car when I arrived. The young boy told who I assume was his father there was a guest and they older man didn't do anything. It would have been nice if had said someone is in just knock or something. The remote didn't work which isn't the end of the world . Could have done with a paint and maybe an extra plug
Review 63:Extremely close by. Rooms were clean. Fine for a cheap one night stay just to be close to the airport. Young lady I saw was helpful and friendly.
Review 64:Booked two rooms well in advance. The day before arriving we received an email to say that we have been checked in next door at a different residential. They put us together in one bungalow which took away from the privacy each party wanted and they did this only after ensuring that it would cost us to cancel the booking. The staff of the substitute accommodation at The Forge were better than at Hathway House but I'd prefer it if people don't stuff their face while they're checking me in. When walking into the room there was a stale musty smell that lingered for a very long time even though the windows and doors were all open.
Review 65:The bungalow was cute. Close to Bristol airport, which was not really what I needed it for.
Review 66:A few insects that looked very like cockroaches were on the carpet and bed. Also the sound of scratching on the carpet during the night, and the sound of mice/rats above the ceiling were a bit disturbing!
Review 67:Convenient facilities for one person and it's within walking distance from the airport.
Review 68:We arrived around the time we had arranged and had to wait for 40 minutes outside in the rain until the owner showed up to let us in. The room we had was the smallest bedroom I have ever seen and there was no hot water so cold shower in the morning! It is very close to the airport but we had to take taxis both ways due to the pouring rain which cost an extra 20 pounds!!
Review 69:Almostr nothing!
Review 70:Shabby small room, no hot water, could hear neighbors talking and snoring overnight, squeeky doors etc. For a price I've paid Ibis/Ramada hotels at the other airports are available.
Review 71:The distance from the airport
Review 72:Gaining access to the building. Standing outside in the rain waiting for a response over the telephone. Reception staff not present when arrived. Very shoddy.
Review 73:Proximity to airport
Review 74:Room a bit musty and a small window. Felt very hemmed in
Review 75:It was just an overnight as handy for the airport. It is budget so wasn't expecting too much
Review 76:The wifi was very week and I was unable to do some things online that I needed to.
Review 77:The hostel was very cozy and comfortable and he staff were so friendly! The bathrooms were also very good sizes as were the bedrooms.
Review 78:The outside was a disgrace with rubbish everywhere, it was advertised outside as a B & B and breakfast was a mini fridge with milk in and some small boxes of cereals when I asked for them ! Dust inside the wardrobe, cracked shower tray, It said there was a garden view but it looked onto the small car park. WiFi didn't work and the beds were really uncomfortable. ,
Review 79:There was no breakfast but I insisted the advert said continental and we were then provided with cereal. We had to pay for our own taxi in the morning although they booked it for us. They did not turn up to collect us at the airport on the Saturday afternoon and had a long wait for a taxi in which we had to pay but they did reimburse us for that. I couldn't get connected to the wifi. The room was quite noisy being so close to the airport.
Review 80:We could leave our car there (although there was an additional fee).
Review 81:Room unable to open window sealed stunk of cig smoke no hot water for hours until boss came back met in car park said no Worries will switch on imerison heater
Review 82:The website said a continental breakfast was included. When I enquired I was told that they didn't do breakfast but could let me have some cornflakes, I declined. The single room was very basic, no problem at all, but had problems with the light in toilet - needs attention.
Review 83:Very handy from airport and although I had one of the outside rooms it wasn't too bad. Plenty of tea bags, coffee and milk to make drinks. Good value for the money
Review 84:Rooms very small, no wardrobe. Dark bathroom. Curtains too thin, allowed car lights to shine through at night as they came into car park. Could hear adjacent room running shower and TV.
Review 85:Clean. Ground floor rooms (my wife has mobility issues), easy access from car park. Host friendly. Single rooms available (suited my teenage son). Tea & Coffee making facilities with full size kettle.
Review 86:very small room, breakfast was not offered we had to ask for it and it was only three different cornflakes
Review 87:2 minutes to the runway so you can watch the plaines landed above your head. Very nice staff, helpful and friendly. the room and the facilities clean.
Review 88:The walls of the rooms were so thin that at 2am I could hear somebody using a toilet and even brushing teeth. If you have really light sleep and wake up easily I dont recommend.
Review 89:Really close to the airport.
Review 90:I was travelling on my own and did not arrive till late and the staff went out I there way to make me comfortable. I got lost and the lady on reception came all the way outside to help find me :-) They took my car for me and made sure I was settled well. In the morning I walked to the hotel as it is only just up the hill from the enterence. When I landed I was met at the airport with my car! After travelling I was so greatful for the ease of getting home. Thank you so much for having me.
Review 91:as it is a great place for stop over between flights other guests were turning up at different times and through the early hours of the morning, the rooms were close together so I did hear all the talking as they arrived, on the plus though as they also were stop over guests they settled in 10 minutes and the noise stopped.
Review 92:the bed was comfy and didn't squeak; the room was cleaned to the highest standard, even providing body wash for a shower before leaving; didn't hear noise from the planes; off road parking safely; easy- turn up, check-in, relax make tea, sleep get up shower make tea and let yourself out. no fuss. Even recommended to my fussy mum for when she flies over.
Review 93:Staff not helpful, service not good, dare not sleep in case I missed my early morning flight . Booked because shuttle to airport there was not free shuttle to airport, I will not book here again
Review 94:Room was ok but service poor no early wake up available
Review 95:Very basic. You can hear everyone in every other room....especially the late night arrivals.
Review 96:Parked car at airport car park and walked to my room and back to the airport for an early morning flight. Staff were pleasant. Fairly cheap.
Review 97:The owner was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was compact but had everything we needed and was clean. There is the possibility to arrive quite late, which we did!
Review 98:Nothing I didn't like
Review 99:Friendliness of owners. They offered to collect me from airport as I was travelling by train/bus. Single room was exactly what I needed - just somewhere to watch tv, sleep and have shower in morning. All at excellent price.
Review 100:Wifi on this second occasion was very slow in comparison and struggled to use basic Internet such as check emails etc. The TV signal wasn't working - staff tried to fix it but still wasn't 100%. But 1st visit it was perfect.
Review 101:The bed is always comfortable and staff very friendly!
Review 102:Flies in room. Thought we were having continental breakfast and were only offered cereal. And we're told they would have to go and buy milk if we wanted the cereal.
Review 103:Manager very friendly. Distance from airport.
Review 104:No choice of breakfast-only cereals- ,no kitchen, no place to have a proper breakfast around. No deliver To airport next day.
Review 105:Staff,bedroom,location,pick up from airport.
Review 106:Very thin walls so I could hear other people during the night. If there was a snorer staying it could be bad.
Review 107:Very close to the airport, just a 5 minute walk on a good pavement, easy to drag a bag
Review 108:Could feel springs through the mattress on the bed, not comfortable really. No breakfast option.
Review 109:Location, 5min walk from airport very handy. Quiet even though very small and other guests, was pleasantly surprised.
Review 110:Very small room. It's a bit tired and there's no hair dryer. But then it is very inexpensive.
Review 111:The proximity to the airport, the low cost (though limited) parking and the no hassle arrival/departure process.
Review 112:Very close to the airport less than 10min by foot. The owner was kind to pick me up from airport even late at 23h. Perfect place to stay when you need to be around the airport.
Review 113:No tv reception, had to use 3G as wifi wasn't very good. 10 days before our stay a review said Terry was happy to drop the person at the airport 3.45am. When I asked could he pop us over at 5.30am he said they didn't do early morning transfers. This was the main reason for booking this b&b for the transfer. It would have been 3 minutes in a car. We did have a small rain shower while walking over and got wet.
Review 114:5 minute walk to airport was great as we didn't travel with a car. Very clean
Review 115:Breakfast could have been better. Not really continental as described. The facilities in breakfast room were inadequate e.g. no kettle.
Review 116:Easy to reach on foot from airport, saving on time and costs.
Review 117:Room was very small, the bed is small and has no room to leave lugage of two persons. No decent chair and table in the room. Worst of all: nothing that can be called a breakfast was available (only a dirty glass uncooled orange juice and some pre packed bread). What does that second B in B&B stand for??
Review 118:It is close to the airport (but not easy to find)
Review 119:Nothing.
Review 120:Very close to departures. Staff very friendly & helpful. Room comfortable & clean. All in all good value for money & took away stress away of having to get to airport for early morning flight.
Review 121:None really, for the price I expected to have a lot of cut corners but I didn't feel this. The mattress was a little springy but this is me trying to find a fault
Review 122:I liked the fact that as I turned and got to the entrance Terry, the owner, came out and greeted me. Terry checked me in, went through all the normal things and also showed me a list of numbers including a takeaway. I was unfortunate that I didn't have any cash but having this information was useful. I had a flight very early needing to leave at 03:45, Terry was fine with this. Just across the road some major roadworks were being done. Luckly the windows blocked the sound completely ensuring a good nights sleep.
Review 123:The single room was no bigger than a cell, the shower room door had to be held shut with a cardboard wedge, and no breakfast , bit expensive at £40
Review 124:Clean and tidy
Review 125:parking a problem. you either have to park on road and walk up lane or make sure you don't get blocked in in the courtyard if you got an early start.
Review 126:Extremely basic accomodation. Shower tray cracked with poor emptying. Toilet had something wrong with flush. 1 cheap and dim ikea £2.99 lamp for a room for three making reading in bed impossible. Just a few quid spent on touches like this would dramatically improve stay.
Review 127:Very convenient for airport. We could just fall out of bed and walk up to check in at 6am. Despite this was very quiet. We heard no noise at all. Pub across the road is good value and no designated driver required. Would definitely use again for early or late flights but would go elsewhere at other times. Nice bloke!
Review 128:having to ring a mobile no. to gain access!!We were expected along with another visitor but there was no-one to greet us!!
Review 129:closeness to the airport.it really is walking distance.Free wifi is good.Room clean and comfortable.
Review 130:It's extremely close to the airport - most of the walk is walking the length of the actual airport to get to the entrance, as the hotel couldn't be closer. Very friendly welcome, the room was basic but clean and comfortable and had everything I needed - perfect for somewhere to lay your head before an early flight!
