Reviews for Best Western White House Hotel

Review 1:A boiler bursted which resulted in a severe flooding on the first floor and leaking thru the bar on the ground floor. They immediately took action and by the end of the day it almost not visible anymore.

Review 2:Excellent staff. The GM even recommended some restaurants in Watford, despite he has its own restaurant. Good noise cancelation by the windows, it is located near a busy street. Just close the windows and you hear almost nothing. Free parking can be a hassle on a first come, first serve basis, but the staff is really helpfull in this.

Review 3:I tried to pay with my credit card but they took the money out of my debit card.when I wanted to pay with a credit card. A bit of confusion really.

Review 4:The bar was open late the staff were helpful showing,is maps etc,

Review 5:Parking round the back a problem, because it depended on which way down the street the satnav brought you as to whether or not you could access it. If you were facing the wrong way when you booked in you would have to go round the houses in the dark of Watford, with its maze of roads to get back to the hotel.

Review 6:The staff extremely helpful

Review 7:Stayed with my friend on New Year's Eve and was only in the hotel for a few hours as we went out, but staff were very friendly and helpful and room was very comfortable.

Review 8:Shower mounting ok for 6 footers but too high for average height but in any case we couldn:t get it to work The mattress was too soft and well past it's use- by date,

Review 9:Parking O.K and location good. Room comfortable

Review 10:She said that's fine, but a woke to find a parking ticket on my car! Not happy with that at all

Review 11:After speaking to the receptionist about if my car was parked ok and she checked cctv screen,I said black audi on the end, with ukpc on the fence

Review 12:The neighbour rooms were really noisy, slaming doors, shouting and wrapping doors all night. Terrible nights sleep, not sure if i would book again. We have stayed a few times .

Review 13:Clean, comfort, area

Review 14:When we arrived around 5pm coming down the corridor all we could hear was the rooms either side of us having extremely loud sex! Considering we were moved into a family room this is not acceptable, no child should hear that so why as adults should we!

Review 15:The hotel itself was lovely, room was cosy, food was great and location for Harry Potter Studios was perfect!

Review 16:nothing at all.

Review 17:Wonderful friendly helpful staff.Parking was offered and the location was perfect. We were within a stones throw from the town center. So it was really great for an overnight stay after our work party. Room was large and very clean,Beds very comfortableWill be back nect year!

Review 18:Bit hard locating the carpark at first although it's close to walk from you have to circle round to it as the road its on is one way. So no parking on site, £6 for 12 hrs. No plug sockets on the bed side of the room which is no good for me as I have a CPU to plug in to breath at night so had to move the bed and sleep at the foot end! Also they must never move the beds to clean as there were crackers on the floor!

Review 19:Close to town, good price and facilities in the hotel.

Review 20:Parking is an issue, poorly signposted Room smelt of air freshener Hotel needs a make over

Review 21:Good location Friendly staff Good bathroom Nice comfy bed

Review 22:Polite and friendly staff , lovely comfortable room. We were helped with directions to the Christmas Market. Perfect location for harry potter world :). We were very impressed you catered for gluten free...The nachos were amazing :) thank you x

Review 23:The hotel was dated. The room needed updating too. The bathroom shower was dreadful. When it eventually worked, the shower came out in a trickle. In the other room we booked, the cold water did not work at all. The receptionist did however give complimentary breakfast.

Review 24:The towels were very new and clean. The dining staff friendly. The room was warm

Review 25:Someone entering my room without knocking.when i was asleep with my girlfriend.wasnt happy.i didnt mention it as it was quite embarrasing as we didnt have any thing on.

Review 26:Terrible parking, ignorant staff .Shame on you white house hotel for refusing cancellation when my daughter had a sickness/diarrhea bug having to travel 100 miles and happy to let someone with a bug stay in their hotel!! Needs to be more discretion in some cases.

Review 27:Sadly nothing!

Review 28:1. Tiny room overlooking a wall. 2. Old fashioned avocado bathroom. 3. The shower kept alternating between scaling and dangerous to freezing cold. 4. Internet logged out in the morning

Review 29:Location and very helpful staff.

Review 30:Noise from other rooms (thin walls) and our room was on the ground floor after I requested when booking a top floor room, traffic noise, dated room, hairdryer was as useful as a chocolate teapot, pubes in the bidet.. What hotel even has a bidet these days?

Review 31:The hotel sounds like a squeaky house of horrors...everything squeaks: floors, doors, beds and walls are thinner than paper, nobody can move without being accompanied by a screeching trail, thus you are in close contact with your neighbors' lifes, no matter if they are snoring, watching TV, talking each other or on the phone or having sex...really, too much intimacy and no chance to have a decent rest in the night; the place is old and worn, the shower is just dripping (no pressure) and you have to be a plummer to understand how you have to flush the toilet...really annoying atmosphere, what a pity that the place doesn't match the quality of people that are working there...

Review 32:Decent room as size, warm and cleanliness, good wifi, the hotel has a very good location (5 min walking from city center and 15 min from Metropolitan Tube), very nice and helpful staff (Roxana, Pepe), but...

Review 33:Only two very minor comments, one bed-side light did not work and you need a password for WiFi (free to use) just a niggle.

Review 34:Friendliness and customer service was excellent, despite the large amount of room service we ordered. Plenty of choice for room service and breakfast menu and staff were always around to help for us first time travellers. Room was lovely and clean and lounge/bar was nice and welcoming from the rain. Would definitely recommend.

Review 35:The rooms were a bit outdated and you could hear alot of the external noise of other rooms but not to the extent that it kept you awake.

Review 36:It was a great location close to the centre of Watford. The staff were also very helpful and accommodating, especially as we had never been to the area before.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:Located right in the centre of Watford and with a car park makes shopping and dining in the town centre all walkable. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast very good, if in Watford we would stay there again. Great value for money

Review 39:Hotel was convenient for one night, but it needs a full refurbishment. The bed was very uncomfortable, there was noise from people on the terrace below, walls are thin so we could hear other conversations, and someone attempted to get in our room at night (although we hope that was a genuine error). Parking was a nightmare and there are no signs to direct you to a car park area.

Review 40:The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Very friendly & helpful.

Review 41:Staff were really helpful with taxis and so on. It was clean and well organised. Relaxed bar open all night apparently, which might have accounted for the one or two people slightly sozzled in reception!

Review 42:The noise both from inside and outside, could hear every movement in any other room or corridor, as well as the traffic from outside. The shower didnt work and the toilet was difficult to flush. Some foul mouthed guests drinking in the bar, made it unpleasent on the Sat evening

Review 43:All the staff, Every member of staff spoke and was polite and genuine with time for us. By far the nicest team at a hotel I have stayed with in the uk

Review 44:Silly but toilet flush handle was poorly located and wife kept catching her rings on unprotected screw behind the handle.

Review 45:The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 46:they had no Vegetation option and the shower in our room was not very good

Review 47:the staff were lovely and the room was clean with plenty of space. it was handy for the train station also Watford town was just down the road.

Review 48:The intensity of the power of the shower fluctuated, as did the temperature from hot to cold.

Review 49:The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I was pleasantly surprised at breakfast when, whilst choosing my fried eggs, one of the staff members offered (without any prompting or comments, as I was otherwise satisfied with the eggs that were available) to get me some fresh eggs with a gooey centre, I of course did not turn down the opportunity, these were then provided quickly and promptly and were delicious.

Review 50:It wasnt the most comfortable, the decor looks as though they haven't updated since 1980 and the wear and tear on everything is evident. Our room also had a window which didnt lock and we were on the ground floor but we were there for one night and reported it so it wasn't a huge issue.

Review 51:Great location and the staff were very friendly and helpful giving us advice on places to eat out and the tube.

Review 52:The fact that my bill was not completed fully when I went to pay same. My card was pre authorised so no doubt you would have got your payment.. Makes me wonder about this pre authorising from my point of view.

Review 53:Was not a fan of the food! I spent about £30 and it was not nice at all! The room service food was dry and cold! I would say the breakfast was alright

Review 54:The staff were nice and went over and above on customer care

Review 55:Stayed here a few times 30% price of London Hotel 2 minutes walk from bars and food Ideally placed for Wembley we went to the NFL on the Sunday. Only 40 minutes by overland and underground from Covent Garden. We booked a twin room but on arrival we were given a double had not even got to the room before the receptionist came to us she was very sorry for the mistake. We went out for the day and the room was re set to a twin when we got back to the hotel. Breakfast was also very good Would certainly recommend

Review 56:Dated dark wood interior, hard uncomfortable bed, old fashioned duvets, sheets that didn't fit the bed, cold dining and lounge/bar areas.

Review 57:The staff at this hotel were second to none. Best Western should give them all a raise.

Review 58:The hotel was situated in a good spot away from the noise but within walking distance of main high street the staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us

Review 59:The only issue we had was that the heating pipes were very noisy throughout the night and we found it difficult to control the shower temperature.

Review 60:The staff were extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome during the stay. Our room was ready earlier than anticipated which was a real bonus as we had travelled most of the morning. The reception and bar area was very comfortable and relaxing.

Review 61:Uncomfortable bed, with poor mattress and cheap duvet. Room too warm, even with windows open and heating off - in October! No aircon. Parking was tight in space. Building is old and tired - seventies decor. WiFi has weak signal.

Review 62:Friendly staff, mostly clean room, good bar, free parking and wifi. Walking distance to both city centre and both train stations.

Review 63:Very old and tired decor - really desperately needs refurbishment. Bathroom tiles were cracked on the floor.

Review 64:The manager was extremely friendly and helpful over parking and the fact that payment was difficult because the hotel system was not responding. The downside of location was that it was on a side street, difficult to park if the car park was full, the upside is that it was literally 4 minutes walk from Watford High Street with lots of shops and restaurants.

Review 65:Staff were extremely helpful and friendly at reception and at breakfast. The travel cot in the room was good quality and our double bed was really cosy. Breakfast didn't look overly exciting but it tasted good and everything was topped up regularly

Review 66:Toilet didn't flush properly in our room, had to try 5 or 6 times.

Review 67:How close it was to the town centre, staff were very helpful with taxis and information about the town.

Review 68:Room was warm, but road outside not too loud to have windows open.

Review 69:Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, great location for travel in to London and the Harry Potter Tour as a 15 minute walk or short taxi ride from Watford Junction.

Review 70:The wifi was terrible. In my linux, computer I did not have access to any https site because of some configuration. The room was not as soundproof, I could hear the man next room snoring. Finally, the toilet had no water pressure.

Review 71:The staff was amazing helping me out for with many unexpected troubles during my trip. They are patient, polite and understanding.

Review 72:The hotel could do with being updated. After all when did you last see an avocado coloured bathroom suite?

Review 73:The staff were really friendly and approachable. Neil was particularly helpful.

Review 74:Car park small, bedroom had double bed and a large and unnecessary settee. Anaglypta wallpaper everywhere including the ceilings!. Coloured bathroom suite!!

Review 75:The bedrooms need modernising, especially the bathrooms. There aren't any proper parking spaces, we were told to park at the front of the hotel where there was barely any room to fit the car and it was really difficult to get the car into the 'space' without being on the path. When you see that there is parking at the hotel this isn't what you expect.

Review 76:The staff were lovely, the bedroom was okay, clean and spacious.

Review 77:The hotel is in dire need of modernisation. It is dark, gloomy and depressing. The bedroom walls are so thin that I barely slept because of the guest next door snoring. The food was basic and boring. No small extras such as proper soap or conditioner. The bottled soap fixed the wall at shower head height made walking whilst taking a bath farcical. Having to keep standing up to get soap. At £90 per night is a small bar of soap really too much to expect?

Review 78:We had to change rooms in the middle of the night due to excessive noise from the next room! It was just snoring- but it kept us awake for an hour! The rooms should be better insulated.

Review 79:Helpful friendly staff

Review 80:Food was lovely. Staff very friendly and reliable. Overall very nice hotel. Well located for all attractions such as the harry potter studios tour! :-)

Review 81:Room was extremely hot considering the day had been mild. Had to open all the windows all night.

Review 82:Nice sized room, ok a bit dated but spotlessly clean and a great location for the town centre

Review 83:Too few parking spaces comparing to the number of rooms. Couldn't be reserved in advance. Bathrooms need updating (mold problem, no ventilation)

Review 84:Clean and spacious rooms. Very good breakfast. Super friendly staff.

Review 85:We had alot of rowdy guests staying on our floor who were shouting and making a lot of noise at about 1-2am

Review 86:Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was about 10-15 minute walk from train station which has a direct link to milton keynes. It's also closer to the shopping centre.

Review 87:Disappointed that I could not have dinner at the hotel on Friday evening, as the restaurant was closed. However, the staff provided take out menus and provided cutlery and crockery, so it was fine.

Review 88:All the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was beautifully cooked. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 89:Food choice was a little restricted. Location not easy to find with not much car parking facilities

Review 90:Bedrooms were reasonable size and fairly comfortable beds.

Review 91:Parking- you have to pull up on double yellow lines at front of hotel to get parking pass and directions to tight car park around the back

Review 92:Staff were very welcoming

Review 93:The decor was dated. The lift didn't work. We arrived back after midnight and there was loud music playing from reception which didn't finish for a long time. No consideration for other guests.

Review 94:I was waiting to check in behind another group of people. Two men came to the counter and the assistant manager came over and served them in front of me. He didn't ask who was first or even apologise for my wait.

Review 95:Shower was not very good or powerful and water took a while to warm up.

Review 96:Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were basic but very clean. Free wifi was great (although pretty standard at most hotels)

Review 97:poor shower. not good water pressure which took a long period of time to take a shower.

Review 98:Great location and reasonably priced room. clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. Due to poor shower facilities I wouldn't want to remain for any length of time but would stay again for an overnight visit to Watford. Staff were excellent and happy to help. Free parking is always great but beware of the pot-holes on entering the parking area.

Review 99:Shower pull-up known on the water mixer tap was stuck.

Review 100:Told receptionist over the phone I am disable and will be coming later, car space was reserved near the entrance - THANK YOU. Asked for early breakfast and was organised - THANK YOU again.

Review 101:Arrived late and decided to eat at the restaurant instead of heading into town. Big mistake food was less than average, whilst I complained and didn't pay then too late to head out and eat else where.

Review 102:Leaving

Review 103:Bedroom and bathroom are in need of modernising, especially the shower which barely worked. Also the noise of slamming doors from the hallway is apparent from early morning.

Review 104:Great location for Watford town centre and WB studio tour

Review 105:Staff were more than helpful and always smiling, nothing was too mush trouble. Lift was out of order but as I have to use a stick to walk Receptionist found us a good room on the ground floor.

Review 106:Shower was awful so had to move rooms! Corridor smelt of weed Double bed but wasn't a lot of room Parking was small, unsafe, no room and generally awful

Review 107:Staff were amazing and so helpful!

Review 108:Lift out, no disabled room free Very very hot and stuffy in room and cramped. Opened 3 windows only to hear the traffic all night long. Not a comfortable night at all.

Review 109:Very helpful although lift was out of action and I am disabled, had to climb up 2 flights stairs staff helped. As the room was small for a family of 3 also extremely hot+++ and noisy as straight above the traffic all night long!!!. They did give us complimentary breakfasts and were extremely nice. It was a good location for where we had to go the following day.

Review 110:The toilet didn't flush properly (if at all) and the shower was as much use as someone pouring a watering can on you from atop a skyscraper.

Review 111:The staff were brilliant and very accommodating. They allowed me to leave my car outside the hotel for the day while we ventured into London, even though we had already checked out as it was quiet. Saved me a tonne on parking

Review 112:The parking could be an issue. Not much space and some were on the road side/ pavement.

Review 113:Location to Warner brothers studio tour was excellent. The price was very competitive and for an overnight stay this hotel fitted our requirements. The hotel was a little dated but was very clean and pleasant staff.

Review 114:one of our double rooms just have a single bed, and we ask the hotel to add a bed. But they spend a long time to do that.

Review 115:The room is big enough and the staffs are kind

Review 116:Old bed, you could feel the springs. No grab rails to climb into the bath to use shower. Extremely difficult to adjust temperature of the water for the shower. No restaurant open on Friday evening, although staff were very helpful in ordering take aways from local restaurants. Lift was out of order.

Review 117:Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely white towels.

Review 118:The only down sides to the property are the walls are very thin and parking isn't ideal.

Review 119:The large room we have 210 was brilliant - staff friendly and welcoming breakfast was fantastic with good choice.

Review 120:We didn't have no air con, and the room became uncomfortable hot at times. Fans would be a great idea!

Review 121:The room was lovely for the price we paid, and it was close but not centre of town. Perfect for HP tour trip we went on!

Review 122:Not worth the money! Creaky, old, small room and noisy. Car park non- existent - just a couple of spaces at the front of the hotel.

Review 123:Staff were friendly & helpful. Location good for closeness to the centre.

Review 124:lift broke down at 12 30 am Saturday with us in it as we returned from a night out in London, quite scary at the time & it still wasn't fixed by the time we left on Sunday

Review 125:friendliness of the staff & comfortable beds + a very good breakfast

Review 126:Restaurant was closed the night we stayed. Car park very small and tight but managed to get a car parking space. Room was very hot at night even with the windows open the room was still warm. Creaking floors, people talking all night next door got 4 hours sleep in total.

Review 127:The staff were really helpful. My sister came with us so we requested a single bed. The hotel was very accomadating extra towels and single bed made. Cleanness very good!

Review 128:the fact that we only stayed 1 night! But we will definitely stay again!

Review 129:The staff were friendly. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty. All round value for money

Review 130:Mattress was not as comfortable as we would have liked, too soft with a tendency to dip in the middle.

Review 131:Beautifully clean, very welcoming staff and excellent breakfasts!

Review 132:room could do with some updating, no blind in the bathroom, very warm, also being above the kitchen/air con units was a little noisy until kitchen fans switched off

Review 133:Friendly staff, good food

Review 134:my car was damaged whilst parked overnight in the hotel car park, smashed windscreen.

Review 135:location is good for the High street: shops, restaurants, market etc

Review 136:Thin walls and rowdy guests coming in at 3-4am shouting their heads off (both nights) with no respect for anyone else. However this is no real reflection on the hotel or its staff - just a bunch of ignorant guests

Review 137:The staff - very friendly and helpful The hotel itself - nice, clean, comfortable - ticks all the boxes
