Reviews for Lismore House
Review 1:A lovely welcome from the owner, a most attractive building, a large, warm, comfortable room and one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. What more could we want from a B & B?
Review 2:Nothing
Review 3:Great host, nothing too much trouble, definitely goes the extra mile. Super breakfast, porridge cooked overnight in aga. Modern building, very clean and bright, period furnishings, lovely mix
Review 4:Friendly helpful owner and gorgeously decorated spacious king room. Rural setting but local attractions such as Falkirk Wheel and Stirling Castle were reasonably accessible by car.
Review 5:Warm welcome, friendly without being intrusive and delicious homemade treats to go with the tea, coffee and fresh milk ( a very welcome touch). Great choice & quality at breakfast too. We were pleased our first choice of hotel was full! We'll certainly go back there next time we're in Scotland . We've already recommended it to relatives in the area.
Review 6:Occasionally got whiff of manure which wasn't very pleasant but outside Jackie's control. It's in a farming area so I guess to be expected.
Review 7:Jackie the owner was delightful. Very helpful and very kind. Lovely sitting room and gorgeous Jack Russell called Cracker
Review 8:The view to the left of the driveway is obstructed making it difficult to pull out onto the road.
Review 9:We enjoyed the special touches such as cold milk and homemade shortbread in the room. Breakfast was excellent!
Review 10:Not one negative. Amazingly friendly hosts, comfortable bed, the best shower ever, delicious breakfast, quiet, restful accommodation. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Review 11:Absolutely nothing.
Review 12:Lismore House is on a farm with fab views and the sound of shep to wake up to. Jackie the owner and her husband Ian are great hosts and can't do enough for you. Fab breakfast choices.
Review 13:We were made very welcome, had a large room with a smart en-suite bathroom and enjoyed a splendid breakfast. All in all it was a delightful stay. Definitely to be recommended.
Review 14:Beautiful room. Lovely friendly host. Fabulous breakfast. The best fresh fruit salad I have ever eaten at breakfast. Lovely location. Would love to stay again.
Review 15:We were also travelling in East Lothians and Fife so we chose to drive a little more each day than some others might who want to stay in the bigger centres but we then had five nights in one really nice purpose-built BnB Zero disappointment
Review 16:Terrific host; clean and spacious twin room; excellent custom breakfast. Just off the beaten track near Falkirk and a nice, and unknown to us previously, little twin of Linlithgow which was great for touring and choices for dinner.
Review 17:It was like home with servants. Really the best we have ever visited. The house was brilliant and the food was excellent. Jackie was a perfect host John and Anette
Review 18:There is nothing that we did not like!
Review 19:We three Kiwis enjoyed everything about our stay at Lismore House. Jacqui went out of her way to make our visit a really enjoyable one. The house was warmed for us (although it was supposed to be summer) and that made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable.
Review 20:Nothing at all wrong or to complain about - excellent.
Review 21:Lovely roomy room extremely clean accommodation, excellent breakfast. Would certainly recommend to anyone.
Review 22:Nothing! It was all wonderful!
Review 23:Comfort and cleanliness also very quiet. Nothing was too much trouble for Jackie. The breakfast had so many choices and was presented beautifully
Review 24:Had wifi problems till technician found problem in supply lie - no fault of b&b.
Review 25:Beautiful comfort, ordered cooked breakfasts -great, hearty meals to start the day!
Review 26:thr property was fabulous, clean, plenty of space and comfortable. Ha qui the owner was fantastic, she was flexible, really helpful and friendly. Everything you need in a Bed and Breakfast. We didn't try the breakfast but I expect if it is the same everything else to do with the place it would have been good. Highly recommend staying here
Review 27:Friendly welcome and atmosphere of the house. Fantastic hosts. Clean comfortable bedroom. Excellent breakfast. Left, feeling really good as well as rested.
Review 28:Lovely room with view of countryside. Tea and coffee with home made biscuits in the room. Great breakfast and friendly owner. Thoroughly recommend.
Review 29:We loved the setting and it's surroundings, the warm and friendly welcome from Jacqui, the comfortable room and the delicious breakfast. There was nothing more we could have asked for as we even had great weather too.
Review 30:Whats not to like?
Review 31:Jacqui has a way of welcoming guests that instantly makes you feel at home. Lismore house is purpose-built and includes a large guests' lounge, well appointed and homely dining room. Our bedroom ( Room #4) was spacious and well furnished, with two very comfortable armchairs, in which we sat to enjoy the delicious snacks provided for afternoon tea. Bathroom included Large, soft white towels and double shower. Just perfect! Breakfasts were excellent including beautiful fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice and very tasty eggs from jacqui's free range hens. (One of whom should really apply for a passport, she wanders so far from home!) This is currently our benchmark B&B for comfort, genuine hospitality, and access to a surpringly wide range of activities and exploration. Well done, Jacqui!
Review 32:We loved everything!
Review 33:What a beautiful B & B! My husband & I stayed here for 5 nights during our honeymoon. We had visited Scotland before & stayed in Edinburgh but this time wanted somewhere more rural. We were not disappointed, the location is great, beautiful views but not a million miles away from B roads to get you on your way to attractions. When we arrived it was raining & as we pulled up the owner Jacqui came out with an umbrella & offered to help with our bags. She then showed us up to our room and gave us a plate of homemade shortbread! I thought this was a lovely touch for our arrival but actually there was a plate of homemade cake left in our room on every day of our stay! The B & B is lovely, beautifully decorated & so homely. Our room was perfect, lovely comfy bed, nice seating area next to the tea making table & an en-suite with a fantastic high pressure & hot shower. Breakfast was great, we looked forward to it. We let Jacqui know what we fancied the night before & come morning gorgeous smells were drifting from the kitchen. Jacqui spoilt us - nothing was too much trouble & we enjoyed a full Scottish breakfast, pancakes with caramelised bananas, toast, cereals and great poached eggs on toast. Guests sit together around a large table laden with breakfast goodies. Jacqui introduced us to each other with thoughtful details and on one morning we all got carried out chatting for ages! The best saved for last - Jacqui is such a brilliant host, a lovely chatty lady who recommended places to visit/eat & the best ways to get around. I can't speak highly enough of Lismore house and look forward to returning!!!
Review 34:The hospitality accommodation and breakfast were excellent. Enjoyed our stay and Lismore House would be our first choice if in the area again.
Review 35:Lismore house is a beautifully converted barn in a beautiful, peaceful setting. We were made to feel so welcome, and everything was to the highest standard - cleanliness, facilities, guest lounge, fabulous breakfast - and wonderfully comfortable beds! It's an easy commute into Edinburgh, and Linlithgow is only a couple of miles down the road with restaurants, bars and shops. Thoroughly enjoyed this visit, and we'll be back!
Review 36:Nothing 100% perfect
Review 37:Everything was perfect, would highly recommend staying here, lovely accommodation and views, excellent home cooked breakfast, Jacqui the hostess was friendly and hospitable felt like home from home nothing was too much trouble
Review 38:- with the adress and the GPS (built-in and mobile) it was difficult to find. In fact, it is very easy, if you leafe the roundabout at the right road and ignore the GPS -> look for Maddiston at the roundabout at the highway-exit Polmont
Review 39:- the B&B location is rural, but the view ist very nice - the owner was very friendly - breakfast was excellent - free WLAN - free parking space in front of house - spacious room
Review 40:If you really, really want to nit pick, there is some very infrequent traffic noise during the night.
Review 41:It always strikes me that review scores on this site are skewed to the right, with what is only a bit better than average often being described as wonderful. Not in this case, however. Lismore House deserves every point of its high rating. It was like staying with an old friend. Jacqui strikes the perfect balance between familiarity and professionalism. We had a superb room, bigger than the ground floor of many modern houses. The four bedrooms and guest lounge are smartly furnished with an eclectic mix of items, which all fall perfectly into place. Breakfast is as good as you will find anywhere and the daily treats were a delight. Lismore House is without doubt our first choice next year for our annual visit to Edinburgh. I will not add any more as it has all been said many times before.
Review 42:There is nothing not to like about Lismore house. Why would you want to stay in a hotel with this quality of B&B available so close to the city centres.
Review 43:Very friendly host who also cooks you a great Scottish breakfast. And leaves you cake and biscuit treats each day. The location is perfect for trains to edinburgh and glasgow plus the M9 motorway (2 miles away). The best travel option for edinburgh is the airport park and ride (15 mins) then a day rover ticket for the trams and buses (£3.50) a bargain.
Review 44:A little hard to find as the address wasn't given for our GPS system.
Review 45:Quiet location in reach of several nearby towns. Lovely property with spacious rooms, family dining room, and living room for evening gatherings
Review 46:There was nothing at all to dislike.
Review 47:The room was extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean and well-appointed. The friendliness and helpfulness of Jacqui, our hostess, was outstanding.
Review 48:Nothing.

Review 72:Warm welcome from host, lovely room, with sitting room available for use, in a beautifully restored building on a working farm. Magnificent breakfast served in the dining room. Friendly chats with the host. No request was too much bother. Relaxed & pampered stay, followed by a straight-forward drive to the airport.
Review 73:The welcoming reception on arrival, after a short time, we were made to feel part of Jackies family. We were treated very considerately Will definitely be recommending Lismore House to others
Review 74:Everything was perfect!
Review 75:We were a group of family and friends and unanimously can only praise Lismore House. Our host Jacqui was extremely gracious and helpful. Her Scottish breakfast must be the best on record. Her own farm eggs were extra special! The rooms were of superior standard and the location could not have been more convenient. Thank you Jacqui. We would all like to return.
Review 76:Having to leave at the end of the stay!
Review 77:Very comfortable and spacious room. Wonderful breakfasts! The owner Jacqui was the perfect hostess, making us feel at home as soon as we arrived.
Review 78:The country location .Handy for our trips to Linlithgow and Falkirk.Jackie and Ian were great hosts. The home made shortbread in the room is the best we have ever tasted. Excellent breakfast.
Review 79:Arrived well early but we were heartily welcomed anyway. Jacqui helped with the bags, even though it wasn't really necessary, though much appreciated. A few minutes chat and then we were taken to our room which was great. it came with the expected tea/coffee etc but there was fresh milk rather than those finicky little pots, but the main thing, there was homemade shortbread which was to die for. Overall it was a perfect retreat for the wife and I, so much so that we are going back again in September for a longer stay. Would recommend Lismore House to anyone.
Review 80:More detailed address / driving instructions. No reflection on hotel but postcode was insufficient for my satnav
Review 81:Perfect. Best ever stay in 20 years of travelling
Review 82:All Magnificent place, very, very nice people. Big room, a truly good address.. Excellent take away not far away, you can easily eat in the beautiful guest sitting room. No need to roam out evenings.

Review 84:The whole concept of this delightful B/B was excellent, we particularly enjoyed the well furbished communal lounge & delightful rural views from every window. We would definitely recommend and stay again.
Review 85:Liked the welcome from the owner. Very pleasant manner and very personal. We were showed round the house and shown to our room. Room was fabulous with lovely views of the fields. Spotlessly clean, lovely large shower. Bed very comfy. Tea, biscuits (homemade shortbread), coffee all supplied. Lovely place, highly recommended. No faults what so ever

Review 87:Jackie made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable and had a beautiful country view. Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.
Review 88:My boyfriend and I both stayed at Jackie's B&B whilst cycling from Edinburgh to Glasgow. We could not have asked for a warmer response, she kindly dried our wet clothes for us as we were soaked through after an extremely wet day of cycling!!The small touches she added to the room made the stay just like home but better!! Her facilities are so quaint and clean, we could not have asked for more. The breakfast selection, set us up perfectly for the next day of cycling and a visit from her horse for its morning apple just enhanced the experience. We would definitely recommend staying at Lismore house to anyone and would pop by ourselves for another stay some time soon!! Emma & Rich
Review 89:nothing
Review 90:We went to this beautifully converted barn because we wanted to visit the Falkirk Wheel which was about a 10 minute drive away and well worth the visit. The hotel was ideally situated between city and mountains (Edinburgh and the Trossachs). The views across the countryside from the hotel were lovely.Jackie, our hostess, was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. There's a large lounge with TV and tea and coffee facilities which we found useful after a day out when we wanted to relax but not sit in our bedroom.Breakfast was everything you could want and more, fresh and well cooked. We would definitely go back here again if we were in that area.
Review 91:Every thing, made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent. Aftera long day sight seeing it was an ideal place to come 'home ' too. Looking forward to our next visit.

Review 96:Very friendly welcome for two mums cycling along the Union canal towpath towards the Falkirk Wheel with two 12/13 year old children. Relaxing glass of wine and comfy sofas for the saddle-sore as well as really comfortable beds. Lovely atmosphere in a tastefully renovated steading of a working farm located only a short distance down a B road from the canal towpath.
